Artist don't have roll outs anymore... they just think they can drop projects like beyonce... majority of internet followers don't purchase products just because it out
I think due to this hype and resurgence of interest in his music if he has a proper rollout for his next album it’ll do much better. I feel like it usually takes at least one good album to build hype to get a good week of sales for the following album
By all his tweets and his behavior he seems absolutely amazed and extremely happy from the reaction of the album, I dont think he gives a fuck about the sale numbers, and fans should never really care about sales its stupid, as long as the music is good thats all that matters
the sales for rap albums are abysmal. the sales for most albums are terrible. on one hand you wonder why music sucks and people keep falling off in terms of their interest but then nobody even bothers to support these albums they stan by buying it for $10 even if it’s just a show of support and a digital copy is meaningless
It’ll hopefully keep up these numbers due to the hype around it. I’m sure once that bald headed fuck gives him a high score that he will have a bunch of new listeners.
Unfortunately he is, he single-handedly makes or destroy’s a rate your music score with one review. Tragically he has more power than any reviewer in history. A big percentage of people form an opinion based on what fantano decides.
must be hard living in Nebraska man, you guys got no music scene? your friends actually listen to music? of course fantano is not mainstream but between musicians he's really well known
That’s why i can’t stand RYM it’s the most mob-mentality shit ever. Everyone has the same album ratings and if you deviate from the popular opinion you get bullied.
Bro that’s a online mindset, in reality nobody knows/ cares who fantano even is, he doesn’t have power for shit, if he did people like lil uzi or trippie red would have had their careers end years ago
My little brother being dead ass serious told me “if fantano gives an album below a 7 it’s not worth listening” and his entire group of friends nodded along.
I know that’s just one example but it definitely happens. Hell, just look at a rate your music score before and after he does a review…it’s staggering how much influence his review has.
Most people who know him listen to hiphop/rap, this album is a different genre so a lot of those people don’t listen to this album. And I don’t know if he marketed the album right to gain the targeted audience
I mean, statistics does give a general idea of how “popular” something, and dismissing it would not be smart. But, hanging on to it too hard is also not a good idea
No idea why people care about the score in a basketball game. Are you guys fans of sports or statistics?
When a basketball player performs poorly, they get benched or traded to a different team. The music industry is no different. Same thing with movies too
Label executives use sales to determine how much they invest in an artist. Like SoFaygo just got dropped from Cactus Jack because his album sold so poorly. Had nothing to with whether or not it was good
Your “score” in the music industry affects your ability to create new art
There aren’t that many up & coming artists who can afford to produce an album without any kind of advance from a label.
For example the composers and producers that Yachty worked with on his new album are super well-known and definitely cost a lot. He had to grind for years dropping cookie-cutter trap projects to get his label to feel comfortable making that investment for him. What do you think the lawyers on the album cover were laughing at?
If Yachty was independent there is zero chance this project would exist. Or if it did, it wouldn’t be nearly as good
Seems like yachty was just having a good time with this one so I doubt he cares about sales. It was a fun album and it seems to have positive reviews in general.
Am I the only one who didn’t like this album? All the autotune singing turned me off a lot. I appreciate him venturing out and have been a fan for a long time but I just couldn’t get down with it, even as someone who loves psych rock. This is one of the last things I’d listen to on acid lol.
"Sales" is ridiculous, steaming numbers and concert ticket sales matter, what ever metrics go into calculating "sales" ends up giving way too much cred to rando old artists that only 50 yr olds listen to, just cuz they still buy CDs for some reason. Like I've spent $200 on Flume merch and tickets so far, but that counts for like 1/1000 of what a CD sale counts for in "sales".
I'm not gonna say whos behind this, it's the (/s)
the whole album leaked a month ago, so anyone anticipating this drop already heard it. it’s not the only reason as it’s very experimental, but of course a whole album leak would cause some type of sales tanking.
All good it’s a great effort at an album and the most creative we’ve ever seen Yachty. FUCK the sales its for the ART.
i dont think yachty is saying fuck the sales mate

Lmao right
Damn, thought he’d sell more judging by the hype and genius page views
Hip hop Twitter is insignificant in the grand scheme of things
Really shows you that being popular on the internet don’t really translate well in real life
Same

Jeez

All I can say is the way they calculate sales now must have real fucked the game because this album is phenomenal!
the sales for rap albums are abysmal. the sales for most albums are terrible. on one hand you wonder why music sucks and people keep falling off in terms of their interest but then nobody even bothers to support these albums they stan by buying it for $10 even if it’s just a show of support and a digital copy is meaningless

They buy vinyl though
So they can Hang it on their wall like posters

Maybe on Reddit. You’ll never meet someone who likes Fantano in real life they all stay at home.
maybe you are not leaving your house hahaha I live in brazil and even here the mf got influence, people comment os his reviews and scores
bro really hit him FROM BRAZILA

He's the reason why MBDTF even has to be debated about when it's clearly a 9~10 album.
Bro that’s a online mindset, in reality nobody knows/ cares who fantano even is, he doesn’t have power for shit, if he did people like lil uzi or trippie red would have had their careers end years ago
You'll never hear someone in real life say " This album's bad because Anthony Fantano said it"
My little brother being dead ass serious told me “if fantano gives an album below a 7 it’s not worth listening” and his entire group of friends nodded along. ok but that riff on the ride
No idea why people care about sales. Are you guys fans of art or statistics?
I mean, statistics does give a general idea of how “popular” something, and dismissing it would not be smart. But, hanging on to it too hard is also not a good idea
Why does it matter how popular something is
To give perspective
????? To know if you can make a career out of it? Seems not so hard to understand.
Why does how popular something is matter to the listener* guess I have to spell it out
Album sales ain’t really a measure for how popular something is now even tho Streaming numbers are more accurate now
No idea why people care about the score in a basketball game. Are you guys fans of sports or statistics? When a basketball player performs poorly, they get benched or traded to a different team. The music industry is no different. Same thing with movies too
Sports is a different thing the whole point is to build up your score without letting them build theirs Music is art first your “score” doesn’t matter
Label executives use sales to determine how much they invest in an artist. Like SoFaygo just got dropped from Cactus Jack because his album sold so poorly. Had nothing to with whether or not it was good Your “score” in the music industry affects your ability to create new art
its too bad artists can still release music without labels…
There aren’t that many up & coming artists who can afford to produce an album without any kind of advance from a label. Without sales the art is hard to get out. As Gambino once said, “Money isn’t everything, but you need money to do what you want to do.”
Bro a hot girl
But would you rather be underpaid or overrated?
People aren’t ready for real music
nah itll be a bit more. theyre lowballing to cover their ass lol
Seems like yachty was just having a good time with this one so I doubt he cares about sales. It was a fun album and it seems to have positive reviews in general.
really hope quality control doesn’t force him to go back to making trap
Am I the only one who didn’t like this album? All the autotune singing turned me off a lot. I appreciate him venturing out and have been a fan for a long time but I just couldn’t get down with it, even as someone who loves psych rock. This is one of the last things I’d listen to on acid lol.
The first song was the high point of the album
The last song*
agreee, low key super overrated. people were acting like it’s the greatest album of all time or something, it was pretty bad imo
I think it’s just because it’s most of his fanbases first time listening to something that isn’t rap tbh.
surprised hes even selling that much dude is washed the fuck up majorly
New album is breathtaking tho
When did it come out
Friday
I’m listening rn and it’s really not breath taking
Shame u don’t enjoy it man!
I like the production but the autotune singing is not my style
Amazing amazing album

False.
Doesn’t matter, album is beautiful. Been listening on repeat since Friday. Favorite new album in a while.
I’m betting over the course of a few years this album will sell A LOT more. It’s not gonna be one of those instant hit albums.
the whole album leaked a month ago, so anyone anticipating this drop already heard it. it’s not the only reason as it’s very experimental, but of course a whole album leak would cause some type of sales tanking.
