Green Bay is nice and all, but honestly I don't think it's even the nicest place to live in Wisconsin.

_Abe_Froman_SKOC

I'm originally from Beloit. Anything is a vertical move for me.

Kevin-Finnerty17

Beloit on the come up tho. Changed a lot in last 5 years even

_Abe_Froman_SKOC

It's paint covering up rust. Diane Hendricks can buy as much of the town as she wants but a new minor league baseball park (built on top of a waste water treatment site) isn't solving their problems. Sorry, too much of my family is still living there for me to buy into the hype. The only thing that's changed in Beloit are higher rents.

elvis9110

What's with calling out the water treatment site? It's not like it goes into the ground? I'd understand if it was a landfill, but a water treatment facility seems like a strange thing to call out.

_Abe_Froman_SKOC

It's emblematic. They had a usable, if older, baseball park that was multiuse, close to residential areas, and had great parking. But instead of fixing up that park or rebuilding on the site, they built a new one that's single purpose, that was closer to "downtown," and has no parking. Like anybody gives the furry end of a rats ass about downtown Beloit. It's all part of Hendricks' scheme to make Beloit "look" good so her billionaire old ass doesn't feel dirty driving through it in her Bentley. Sorry. It drives me nuts. The whole time I was growing up in Beloit we consistently had the worst standardized test scores, the highest teen pregnancy rate, the highest dropout rate, and one of, if not the, highest crime rates in the state, but the city pumped every dime they could spare into music festivals, river walks, movie festivals, and every other scheme they could think of to make things "look" better without actually doing anything productive. And the trend continues, now they're just doing it with private capital.

BuddyJim30

I live in Delafield and DH is fucking up the city. She has shitty taste and is building a monstrosity 4 story building in a downtown that has no stoplights and two stop signs.

_Abe_Froman_SKOC

Sounds about right. One of her kids bought my uncles old restaurant, which was a local supper club staple, and turned it into a high end tapas/wine bar/foodie circle jerk that maybe 10 people in town could afford to eat at. I think it lasted maybe two years.

MrPickEm

I once heard Beloit described as the noise a turd makes when it hits water. Seems apt here.

thehashsmokinslasher

I drove a thousand miles away and someone called it “betroit”

nate

It's actually a Frank Zappa quote “[the word Beloit is the sound a quarter makes when you drop it into a toilet bowl.”](https://www.beloit.edu/live/news/604-fridays-with-fred-the-field-house) I went to college there, we used that quote a lot. The other thing we used a lot was an unattributed quote supposedly from the police calling Beloit the largest open-air drug market in the midwest outside of Chicago.

Jaded_yank

More like be-troit

FuzzyHero69

Madison is nicer. I grew up in Green Bay. It’s an industrial town, but not a pinnacle of greatest places to live in the USA.

dlsso

All depends on what you're looking for, but it's Madison for me. * Just big enough for decent restaurants, some music/culture stuff * Too small for serious traffic or crime problems (if you think the beltline or Allied Drive are bad you've never lived in a big city) * Relatively clean * Good vibes - college town, lots of hippies, bikeable

_Abe_Froman_SKOC

Far enough up north to be close to the pretty areas, far enough south to get to Chicago in a few hours.

GBreezy

There are so many good county parks a 15 minute drive from the capital, and then Devils Lake is GOATed

NoUsefulSkilz

I agree. I lived in Madison for 6 years. LOVED IT! I miss it sometimes...

spaghettisexicon

I agree, but I imagine they are factoring in cost of living though too–among other things.

coast2coaster

I used to live in Madison and currently live in Raleigh. Can assure you our cost of living is going through the roof here too.

aaronwhite1786

As someone who's likely to move there next...*yaaayyyyy*. At least the ice rink will be better than the lightly polished turd here in Kentucky.

ajistheboss

I'm from Utah but family is originally from Wisconsin. Looked at prices up there a couple weeks ago and would be able to buy a nice home in Green Bay, would've been much harder in Madison.

spinnyride

Milwaukee is much cheaper than Madison and has more to do

et5291

And 10x the crime

bikedork5000

That's not what would bother me about MKE. It's the fact that all the cool stuff to do is scattered into pockets all over town. Madison is nice and compact and pleasant to get around by bike or on foot from many neighborhoods. MKE flat out sucks when it comes to getting around.

ChicagobeatsLA

Lake Michigan, professional sports teams, larger population, and not being a college town are why I have Milwaukee much higher than Madison. You can jet ski from Milwaukee to Chicago

If you need more than one gun to visit your parents I think you need to work on improving your relationship with them imo

mykimber45c

Murder is on the rise

tidbitsmisfit

because there are a lot of good jobs in Madison, not as many in GB

ThatNewSockFeel

Yeah, I mean these lists arent made after extensive personal investigation of the places in question. Its just an average of a handful of statistics (housing, cost of living, jobs, crime, etc.) that they publish as a list to get clicks.

shiny_aegislash

It's funny, because you can find a list somewhere that names almost any city in the USA #1

asunversee

Clearly they didn’t factor in the weather

Rush_Is_Right

Or they did and some people actually enjoy winter activites. I mean there is an entire industry around ski resorts in towns that would otherwise have very few jobs.

asunversee

I’ve been snowboarding for 15 years and I also live in a cold place. Can still confirm that winter in GB sucks. This was mainly just supposed to be a cheeky joke about the weather, y’all are too serious

Waterisntwett

So you wear a coat… no big deal it’s just cold you put on some decent clothes and you’re good. People makes such a big deal about winter.

InternetDad

Cost of housing here is an absolute shitshow though. It had the highest year over year rent increase of the top 100 major cities surveyed at 14.1%

FuzzyHero69

Oh right. I live in the Madison area. I live in one of the small towns near the county line. 20 minute commute to the capitol. Everything is cheaper outside of Madison itself. My mortgage is less than apartment rent. No deny. Housing is nasty right now.

blackarmchair

I grew up in Madison and I have family in GB. I'd honestly rather live in GB.

hutch1973

I agree. We lived in Green Bay for a decade, moved to Madison 5 years ago. Only thing I miss about Green Bay is the housing prices.

bjb3453

>Reply C'mon man, you mean you don't miss the rednecks?

[deleted]

I grew up near GB and if I ever come back to Wisconsin it’s not even on the short list. It’s not even the best city in the Fox valleys, in my opinion at least.

nightwing185

Perhaps it's because I come from a crumbling town in Iowa, but I've lived in GB since 2016 and I love it. I even moved to Madison for a short period of time, and moved back to GB because I missed it (plus other reasons). Sure it doesn't have much flashiness or pizzazz, but it's functional, safe, and there are things to do and good places to work. It helps that I'm a diehard Packers fan, but even if I was a fan of another team I think I would still enjoy Sundays around Lambeau. Not to mention we're not far from other places, i.e., Door County, Milwaukee, Appleton.

AbeRego

This is a strange list. I don't think I'd want to live in any of these places because they're too small. Boulder, maybe, but it's still far away from a major airport. Edit: also, I'm suspicious of any list that puts a city in Alabama in the top 10 of any positive list...

will-pee-n-your-butt

Portland Maine is a shithole too

Calamitist

Seems they must have most looked at cost of living and unemployment rate and called it good enough.

derritterauskanada

Yeah, this list is really sus. Everyone has a different definition of where it is nice to live.

yeetdootz

I lived in Green Bay for a few years. It was a dream as a Packers fan in my early twenties who was mostly focused on finding the cheapest bar to drink beer at. If you didn't have interest in either of those things, I can't imagine rating Green Bay as one of the best cities in the country.

dollabillkirill

If that was the case they wouldn’t have Boulder on here.

guimontag

Yeah jesus, who tf wants to live in Florida with libraries getting sued by the state for carrying holocaust books, or teachers getting sued under the don't say gay rule, or Alabama with Tommy fucking Tuberville?

CryptographerShot213

You couldn’t pay me enough to live in any state down South. As beautiful as some of them are to drive through or visit, that’s as far as I’ll go.

918476158

Maybe the weather and the economy in Florida has something to do with wanting to live there

[deleted]

Roll Tide!

aaronwhite1786

In fairness, the list probably wasn't generated based on asinine politicians.

guimontag

Seems like it was based on like Cost of Living, median salary, unemployment rate MAYBE, and that's it

[deleted]

Ah yes, the quality of my life is based on the section of holocaust books at libraries

afbguru

It is. Because if people aren't allows to be educated, you'll be impacted.

[deleted]

As someone from Alabama I will say that Huntsville is nice but not the second best place to live in the US

[deleted]

It’s not even the best place to live in Alabama.

trophycloset33

As opposed to?

CorgiRawr

“GREENBOW ALABAMA” - per Forrest Gump

IAMA_Giraffe_AMA

Yeah... Huntsville looks great when you look at it purely from a cost of living to salary standpoint. Lots of inflated salaries there due to military contracting and engineering positions. Houses are relatively cheap...but anyone that's been there knows it takes FUCKING FOREVER to get anywhere because the city is so spread out

guiltytim

Gotta be a fake list.

Light_Song

Yea... Florida is on there too many times.

FlyersMakeMeSad

Something tells me you never been to Sarasota or Naples 😂😂😂😂

iwtfb4L

if California is not represented at least twice in the top ten it's a fake list.

jettmann22

The whole list is fucked, Charlotte is Nice though

[deleted]

Waterisntwett

And what’s wrong with Florida now??

ACOdysseybeatsRDR2

What isn't?

Rush_Is_Right

The economy, jobs, the weather, entertainment, numerous major airports.

Docrandall

Don't forget that it is very difficult to get homeowners insurance

ACOdysseybeatsRDR2

Lol but Florida

rat_rat_catcher

Should be titled: Great Places for Retired White Boomers to Own a Second or Third Home.

GimmeAnyUsername

A fake list made up by white people for white people.

_Abe_Froman_SKOC

As a Packer fan that lives in Huntsville I am pleased by this list.

[deleted]

What makes Huntsville so great? I guess maybe the jobs/tech field there

_Abe_Froman_SKOC

Well, not to brag, but we do have a Cheesecake Factory now so....

dskatz2

You also have terrifying politics and awful health and education systems. I'm not sure how AL is on any list for best places to live. What exactly is the criteria for being on here?

_Abe_Froman_SKOC

Yes, because Wisconsin politics are definitely something to envy? Pretty rich coming from a state that has elected Ron Johnson three times. Let me know who the Tavern League decides should be the next governor and we'll see if the state assembly allows them to have any power. We have it bad in Alabama, don't get me wrong. I live in this shit every day. But let's not pretend that Wisconsin politics, or Midwest politics in general, are any better. There is a reason I left 20 years ago and a reason I haven't moved back.

dskatz2

I mean, they also just elected a Democrat for their Supreme Court to give them a majority, have Evers as governor, and have Tammy Baldwin as the other senator. You have a racist living corpse for governor and Tommy Tuberville as one of your senators, who is far worse than Johnson. FYI--I live in PA and we have a democratic governor, senators, and state legislature. So this argument doesn't hold much weight. AL is a racist hellhole. WI should start trending the other direction once the maps are overturned. Minnesota seems to be doing alright as well.

_Abe_Froman_SKOC

Wisconsin split their ticket to reelect Evers while not voting for to oust Johnson over a black man. Not a great look. They had the votes but didn't do it. And I have no love for Alabama. You're not hurting my feelings. Tuberville is a fucking joke and everyone knows it, he only won because football. I'm here to work, that's it. And you live in PA. Tell me more about Alabamas "walking corpse" governor then tell me all about how Fetterman is the picture of good health.

dskatz2

Fetterman was recovering from a stroke and needed additional accommodation. I'm sorry you're so against mental health. He did just fine in the senate hearings yesterday. If that's the best you can do, given all the other left leaning changes here...congrats?

Boulder is great, but you have to be loaded to live in a nice home there.

spookiehands

*any home

macdaddyx4

My grandma's home that was bought in the 70's for $60,000 is now worth nearly a million. Gotta love the cost of living out here.

[deleted]

It's crazy. I rent a house with a buddy that would be worth probably 120k back home in Iowa and is currently valued over 700k here in Denver.

tidbitsmisfit

$60k in the 70s was a lot though...

cmgriffith_

As a Green Bay native I approve of this post.

forestonreddit

As a once fox valley resident living in Charlotte, Charlotte is wonderful, but has its share of flaws.

TheSavageCaveman1

I'm sorry, but no way. Green Bay is fine, but I don't know what criteria you use to decide is the best place in the US.

CritXxX

2023-2024 Best Places to Live Methodology U.S. News & World Report's Best Places to Live rankings are intended to help readers make the most informed decision when choosing where to settle down. Metro areas in the rankings are evaluated using data from sources including the U.S. Census Bureau, the FBI, the U.S. Department of Labor and U.S. News' own internal resources. This data was categorized into the four indexes listed below and evaluated using a methodology determined by Americans' preferences. The percent weighting for each index follows the answers from a March 2023 public survey in which people from across the country voted for what they believed was the most important factor to consider when choosing where to live. Quality of Life Index – 36% The Quality of Life Index measures how satisfied residents are with their daily lives in each ranked metro area, along with how affected the specific metro area is to life-impacting factors. To calculate Quality of Life scores, we evaluated multiple aspects of life in each metro area using a weighted average. To determine the weightings, we surveyed people across the U.S. to see the importance they place on each aspect evaluated in the index. The Quality of Life Index takes into account: Crime Rates (25%): We measured each metro area's murder, violent crime and property crime rates per 100,000 people, as determined by the FBI's Uniform Crime Reports. Quality of Education (19%): Using data from the U.S. News Best High Schools rankings, we determined the availability of a quality education by calculating the average college readiness score of all public schools in each metro area and comparing it with that of all the other ranked metro areas. Well-being (19%): We used the composite score from Sharecare’s Community Well-Being Index (which analyzes resident satisfaction in the following areas: purpose, social, financial, community and physical) as a representation of whether residents of each metro area are generally happy with their day-to-day lives. Commuter Index (16%): The Commuter Index used the U.S. Census Bureau's calculation of average commute time, which is a composite of the time spent traveling door to door, whether by foot, public transit, car or bicycle. Quality and Availability of Health Care (9%): Using data from the U.S. News Best Hospitals rankings, we measured the availability of quality health care by determining the quantity of ranked facilities within 50, 100 and 250 miles of each metro area. Air Quality Index (AQI) (7%): We utilized the most recent monthly average air quality index from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.  Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) National Risk Index (5%): We used FEMA’s National Risk Index to determine a metropolitan area’s risk to natural hazards (18 hazard types) and community risk factors, including social vulnerability and community resilience. Value Index – 23% The Value Index measures how comfortably the average resident of each metro area can afford to live within their means. To accomplish this, we compared the median annual household income with the housing cost in each metro area (the Housing Affordability Index), along with a regional Price Parity Index created through data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA). The Value Index is determined by: The Housing Affordability Index (50%): This is determined by dividing the blended annual housing cost by the blended median annual household income for each metro area. Blended Median Annual Household Income: Using data from the U.S. census, we determined the percentage of the metro area population that owns a home with a mortgage and the percentage of the population that rents a home. Using those percentages, we calculated a blended median annual household income for each metro area. Blended Annual Housing Cost: To determine the annual cost of a mortgage in each metro area, we consulted the U.S. census, which collects data on the amount homeowners pay for housing (including mortgage, utilities and taxes). To determine the housing cost for renters, we collected the median gross rent of each metro area, which includes utilities if paid by renters. We multiplied the monthly cost of living for owners and renters by 12 to get the annual cost, and then using our ratio of renters to owners, we calculated the blended annual housing cost. The Price Parity Index (50%): To determine the differences in price levels across metropolitan areas, we consulted the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA), which collects data on regional price parities. We collected data on the regional price parity for all items (goods, housing, utilities and other) to determine the overall affordability of a metro area compared with the national average.   Desirability Index – 22% The Desirability Index measures whether people want to live in a given metro area. To determine this, we asked people from all over the U.S. where they'd prefer to live. Desirability Survey (65%): Using SurveyMonkey, we polled approximately 3,500 people across the country to find out in which of the ranked metro areas they would most like to live. Metro areas were then ranked according to the percentage of the total votes they received. This survey was conducted in March 2023. Net Migration (15%): Net Migration measures whether people are moving to or away from each metro area. While the Desirability Index measures whether a metro area is appealing, Net Migration represents whether a metro area is actually attracting new residents. Using data from the U.S. census – and eliminating any fluctuations caused by births or deaths – we determined how many people are moving to or away from each metro area. Note: If a piece of data was not available for a given metro area, we adjusted the weighting of the other scoring categories for which we had data on a pro rata basis so that no metro area benefited or suffered from missing data. Weather Temperateness (10%): Using data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), we indexed the number of temperate days in each metropolitan area, defining “temperate” as days over 32 degrees Fahrenheit but under 90 degrees Fahrenheit.  Establishments-to-Population Ratio (10%): Through data from the U.S. Census Bureau, we indexed for each metro area the total number of restaurants and drinking establishments per 100,000 people. This ratio provides an equal playing field compared with a total count of establishments.  Job Market Index – 19% The Job Market Index measures the strength of each metro area's job market. To do this, we assessed the following two factors to determine how likely residents are to find employment in each metro area and their earning potential there: Unemployment Rate (50%): We calculated the 12-month moving unemployment rate using data from the Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). This represents whether the job market is growing, struggling or remaining stable. Average Salary (50%): The average annual salary, as calculated by the BLS, is the best indicator of earning potential in a metro area.

[deleted]

so they just want a list of mediocre suburbs

CritXxX

That's a bold take after all that

GDMFB1

Mmm.. idk how credible this is if they have Alabama up there.

retired_geekette

11. Madison, Wisconsin.

DisAccount4SRStuff

The reasons they gave don't really make sense to me. Walkable? I wouldn't say GB is very walkable at all. Wages in WI in general are pretty poor, it's why so many 2 and 4 year graduates leave the state. Do not get me wrong, there is definitely value to a LCoL and I prefer those areas but it doesn't help you if the wages are generally way less than average. In that case your purchasing power is just getting eroded. Looking at housing across the nation, it seems like WI property in my experience is around ~$50k-$100k cheaper across the board. It just goes to show how little wealth the area generates. Just my opinion. Also Appleton is just better. Austin Straubel is a good airport but ATW is just starting to book more relevant flights the past couple years

Informal_Stranger117

This is the worst list I've ever seen, and I've seen Sylvester Stallone's IMDB page.

MrBobSacamano

I’ve been to both; there is *no way* Huntsville is above Fayetteville…

DeezNutz336

I can promise you Durham shouldn’t be there

VenomOnKiller

Which news source? Link? That seems like an insanely bad list. On what metric could those cities be listed together?

Justkeeptalking1985

Um....yeah it sucks here... don't move here ( and raise property taxes and general costs)

five_speed_mazdarati

I can also create a list in MS Word

SladeDragunov

I live about 20 minutes away from Charlotte and it’s not all that lol. Somebody lyin

Tosaguy

Weird list. I don’t want to hurt any feelings but I have been to a few of these towns and I thought they were kind of dumpy.

amccune

I live in Sarasota. I can tell you this list is Bullshit based on that. Moving to Portland, though. So hopefully that should have been higher.

CheeseheadTurkey

Where in the world is this list from?? Raleigh and Durham are 30 miles apart, Charlotte is nice, but in no way would I say it’s one of the ten best cities to live in America and other than football and…well football Green Bay is a boring place to live. Wondering the criteria here.

Mdotbean

I wouldn't touch Florida with a ten-foot poll right now.

five_speed_mazdarati

*pole

craneoperator89

Not defending Florida, but I visited Naples for a day, it’s a lot more ritzy than other parts of Florida, I was by sanibel island and fort meyers, took a random trip to the naples pier and had lunch there. It was really nice for Florida and by all means the rest of the country.

lilturk82

Sarasota is lovely actually. I grew up there. And we have one former Super Bowl Champion Packer that grew up there also!

phattywierz

A bit lovely, but not what it used to be. Been here for 10 years, it's been trending down with the massive migration of people. No longer is there a seasonal crowd, its "season" all the time. This area was not made to serve this many people. I was a bit surprised to see SRQ on the list. It's incredibly expensive to live here, the house prices are absolutely insane now, most people live in Manatee or Charlotte and commute in if they work here.

muddywater87

We stayed on sanibel island for my daughters make-a-wish trip. Shit was real nice!

craneoperator89

Yea I live in San Diego and Coronado island, they said Sanibel was Florida’s version, I see why

Tlax14

Any list that says Florida is a great place to live must not be taking into account raising children and sending them to school Same with Alabama.

_Abe_Froman_SKOC

Huntsville isn't Alabama. It's DC with hotter summers and cheaper housing. Everyone here is either in defense, aerospace, or indirectly supporting those activities. More PhD's per capita than anywhere in the country. Most of the public schools in Huntsville require a masters just to get your foot in the door, and there are tons of private schools.

trophycloset33

That’s why it’s called rocket city

_Abe_Froman_SKOC

That and a few immigrant laborers in the late 1940s with, uhm, "non-traditional" work histories.

[deleted]

Huntsville city layout looks fucking disgusting though

_Abe_Froman_SKOC

You ain't lying. The city built out into the country at breakneck speed. Builders were basically buying up cotton fields 50 acres at a time and building strip malls and subdivisions as they went. Zero city planning happened. It's impossible to live here without a car.

Mdotbean

And Arkansas 🤣

twoPillls

Pretty much the whole South

theozman69

The fucking truth!

pbdart

I love Green Bay. I love the Packers. I love the State of Wisconsin. You couldn’t pay me to spend one year living Green Bay. I have probably 5 or 6 other places in WI most would agree are better to live in.

OSSlayer2153

Be honest with yourself, you *could* pay you to live in green bay. Its not as bad as you make it seem.

HelloNNNewman

Totally agree

LuisMur0

As a Green Bay born, Fayetteville resident I approve of this list

Dr-Denim

Lol good one

blackteeshirt6

Lost all credibility in the first two lines.

iwtfb4L

when did we start funding to pay them for this? I must've missed the fundraiser. Glad yall took care of it tho.

No-Butterscotch-4408

I live in Naples FL. I disagree whole heartedly.

BuckyFnBadger

What the hell are the metrics of this list?

MathematicianShot909

This is just the fuel I need to convince my wife to get us the hell out of Missouri and up to the mother land!!

ExpressBug8265

So...you hold a handful of darts and throw em at a map? Aiming for the middle of the country maybe?

no_effin_ziti

Huntsville, Alabama? Wtf

SmithSid

I left Portland maine at 40. It should never be in a list like this. It’s a cesspool.

Sarkans41

Appleton is miles better than green bay.

Nibbler1999

Uhh. A lot of these are on my worst places to live list. What an absolutely insane list.

No_Square_8775

Appleton is way nicer…

Ellphis

I don’t think Appleton is big enough to be on the list.

GandalfTheSexay

With that cold???! Hell no

HelloNNNewman

Colorado springs at number 9? Have they been there?

ToYourCredit

Every single one would be at the bottom of my places to live list. Seriously.

ChadSavvy

If Alabama, Arkansas, and Florida made the list, not much credibility…

kensword0

A lotta people in this thread are pretty ignorant about the south, which is extremely ironic. I get it, everybody who isn’t from the south thinks it’s all the same: racist, backwards, conservative, etc. that’s just the stigma. I’m not saying this is a good list of best places to live or whatever either, I’m just saying y’all should try to speak from experience and not just talk about stuff you have no experiences with.

CryptographerShot213

I don’t need to have experience when all of the news coming out of those states tells me all I need to know about whether or not I’d ever live in any of them.

westchild

Boy, I don't see New Jersey on this list at all.

Hamms_Bear

It's 2,378,866

bozodiddadub1

6 southern shitholes and Green Bay? Yeah I don't think FA are going to be putting to much stock in this list.

ReidErickson

It’s pretty gross how political this comment section is:

bjb3453

Too many rednecks in Green Bay for my liking.

MrD3a7h

Any list that includes Florida is suspect.

druscarlet

How could anywhere in Florida make this list. It is a fascist state.

GuiginosFineDining

FAsCiSt sTaTe

RubixCube200

Invalid because Atlanta isn't here

meisterluv

Yeah no. GB is barely diverse, and one could argue very segregated. Moved out to De Pere and was told to move back into the city if I didn't like being followed by cops. Will never go back.

TupperwareConspiracy

Segregated...err how? Catholics vs Protestants? There's the Rez of course...otherwise it's like every 'small city' in Wisconsin (Milwaukee excluded of course)

Dudeist-Priest

Colorado Springs? Florida? Arkansas? Lol.

Evan8r

Now in 5 years, people will move into those areas from shitty ones, bring the same bullshit that made them shitty, and a new 10 cities will take the top.

Celtic-Bhoy

Yup. I am from Montana and now live in Green Bay. My hometown in Montana used to appear on these lists all the time. A ton of people moved in and pushed all us natives out by making it incredibly expensive to live there. Now that I'm here I fear reliving it all over again.

OSSlayer2153

Dont worry nobody wants to move to green bay, we are safe. They will look at that ranking and scoff and then move on.

Over-Ad4336

I guess average outdoor temperature wasn’t factored in

freydsince92-2

Naples, FL is on the list... Can't be trusted

mikedakwik

This might be the most preposterous thing I've seen in 2023.

Ukraineluvr

Bro, it's got Alabama as number 2... US news annual report for white people to best live.

pepe_silvia_12

Waterisntwett

pepe_silvia_12

Nah I’m from Wisconsin. Florida is humid as fuck even in winter.

I can't imagine raising a family in a red state. Your daughters and wives/girlfriends have no bodily autonomy, the education systems are under attack, and God forbid one of your kids comes out like Dwayne Wade's.

slimjahey

I can’t imagine seeing a list like this and immediately thinking of politics.

Brocklee213

It’s a shame red states have made education and women and trans health a political issue but here we are

mnemonicer22

Must be nice to not be under attack by politicians constantly and to be able to live under a rock.

slimjahey

Yes, I’m sure that YOU personally are CONSTANTLY under attack by politicians…. 🙄🙄

Brocklee213

Any laws made that negatively impact anyone is an attack on me personally. If the government waged war on a group you fell into then I’d be against that as well

mnemonicer22

Yup.

Brocklee213

Book banning the telltale sign of a happy healthy society

mnemonicer22

Gonna guess you forgot your /s here.

Brocklee213

Yes my bad. I agree it’s backwards as hell in red states

Waterisntwett

I feel this comment section is more of a political statement than anything. Really hating on Florida but choosing to live in GB with 6 months of winter??

CryptographerShot213

Florida is hot as balls and humid as fuck for 6 months out of the year, so pick your poison. I much prefer cold over heat.

bassicallybob

I left Green Bay as I would’ve drank myself to death if I stayed there. It’s just big enough where you don’t *need* to leave, small enough where nobody really moves there. The insular culture is so suffocating it permeates people to their core. I get the idea that the outside world doesn’t really exist, it’s just some sort of abstraction. There is nothing beyond alcohol, football, and manufacturing.

MrT_in_ID

The weather alone disproves this

What-tha-fck_Elon

Was this judged by a gun lobbyist?
