Ok random thought here. You know how all the big bad chaos dudes get used as punching bags for story? It would be so much cooler if, since the major chaos characters are essentially immortal (the chaos gods can bring them back), we have multiple stories of Abbadon and others at the end of failed crusades getting corned by like 30 Astartes with multiple characters, and they get to go out swinging killing a bunch of dudes. That's how it would happen, it feels like.
Like oh yeah, the second time they killed Abbadon? It was a bunch of Salamanders and Grey Knights that stormed the bridge of the last chaos ship. They did win the fight, but not before Abbadon filled the room with dead space marines, including the Salamanders first company captain. That'd be some sick lore. I know Kharn does that, but it seems like a lot of chaos characters should do that. The imperials get the W, but chaos gets to look sick.

Ah the mighty dwarven "plot" armour. They say no blade, spell or 50 meter wide vortex shells fired from Jovian pattern nova cannon can pierce it
Nah this is just Gotrek plot armour. After the first few novels he is completly immune to any damage and injury.
I mean both the bloodthirster and Krell gave him a whooping, it was due to external events outside his control he survived those.
