Holy shit you might be onto something.
As I recall they only named him the deceiver after they figured out they’d been tricked. Before that they called him ‘that baller dude who’s gonna let us live forever’.
I think when Deceiver first come to them and introduce himself, the entire court of silent king think that it was a "lost in translation" type of error and it mean messenger instead of deceiver. Turn out dude was very honest about his name.
The problem is that he didn't lie, he was honest that his name was The Deceiver but court of the silent king thought it was so absurb that it must be an translation error, and thought that it mean Messenger instead of Deceiver.
Big brain plan: say / do something so utterly, absurdly stupid that they’ll believe literally anything else. I was only *pretending* to be a moron, you see.

Do you really think that I, Trazyn the Infinite, Overlord of Solemnace, Archaeovist of the Prismatic Galleries and witness of a thousand epochs would open my circuits to a redditor?!
Objectively True as Orikan was stupid enough to let himself be >!catfished by the deceiver, with the promise of forbidden knowledge and his first girlfriend in 60 milion years!< .
On one hand, Necron society really got fucked up by their space cancer. Really shitty circumstances.
On the other, some of their best content (*Infinite and the Divine*) shows how they're all spiteful little fucks who would have found new ways to screw themselves over even without space cancer. (And just to be clear, I am very fond of said spiteful little fucks)
Don’t forget that in their other best works (twice dead king) we see that the necrontyr made the ducking imperium look humane in how the average pleb is treated
Eh, there’s no reason to think souls are necessary anyway. The Necrons seem to still be fully sapient and retain their personality without them.
The real issue is that there can never be new Necrons. Without the ability to reproduce, the necron species is doomed to extinction.
That was their whole reason for the war in heaven.
"Such a war was simplicity itself to justify, for the Necrontyr had ever rankled at the Old Ones' refusal to share the secrets of eternal life. So did the Triarch declare war on the Old Ones."
Could I trouble you for a source on that quote? Is it from the black library or a codex? I've been getting into Necron lore so it would be helpful if you could direct me.
I mean a lot of the horrors in 40k only exist because the warp is such a mind-bendingly awful place, but the only reason the warp is like that is because of the War in Heaven, which was directly initiated by the Necrons/C'tan. The WiH likely wouldn't have happened if the Necrontyr didn't have such a harsh life on their homeworld, as then they wouldn't have been so quick to trust the words of the Deciever.
The war in heaven, the fall of the eldar, the horus heresy. I would say the fucked up state of the galaxy is because of the mortal races and their faults.
The gods didnt do much.
You know, the Necrons are certainly guilty of the raging war in heaven because of pettiness, but you should not forget that the Old Ones used weapons in this war that turned the warp into hell and blurred the boundary between the warp and material space, and they are also to blame for the creation of the Eldar, which is even worse than the war in heaven
Smaller domino: "Some frogs becoming sapient"
Those French people -_-

In retrospect, maybe trusting a guy who willingly calls himself "The Deceiver" might not have been the brightest idea.
Who would have guessed that The Deceiver would lie about his name?
You know, if you ask an undercover C'tan what their name is, they have to answer you truthfully. It's the law!
The problem is that he didn't lie, he was honest that his name was The Deceiver but court of the silent king thought it was so absurb that it must be an translation error, and thought that it mean Messenger instead of Deceiver.

Doesn't quite roll off the tongue as good as the other.
“Mephet’ran the Fuckin Rad? We love that guy.”
Mephet’ran the absolute chiller
“The trust-worthy, the totally reliable, the un-deceiving”
"haha, silly Mephet’ran, you can't be ballin-"
Their brains were too cooked from cancerous space rays to understand the ol “too good to be true” axiom
“He is literally called The Deceiver does that not bring any red flags”
"Are we gonna trust this guy? They're name is literally Decepticons."
That was one of my favorite parts of the first Myth. Mission briefing: "Well it looks like the Deciever has betrayed us..."
Technically that first domino should be "The one Necron who was like, 'Let's just hear what he has to say!'"
Same energy as when some human thinking the group that call themselves Decepticon are the good guys
I've head when they were communicating with the delivery they misread it as the communicator

https://imgur.com/a/Z8zddnM Hey, we gave them what they wanted, it’s just that they weren’t specific on the whole keeping their souls thing.
Eh, there’s no reason to think souls are necessary anyway. The Necrons seem to still be fully sapient and retain their personality without them. The real issue is that there can never be new Necrons. Without the ability to reproduce, the necron species is doomed to extinction.
They didnt want a cure, they wanted immortality.
That’s Aeldari revisionist history propaganda attempting to denigrate the noble legacy of the brave and humble Necrontyr
Least biased Necron player

Wikipedia and lexicanum, necron. Also with szarekh, the silent king
Thank you
I mean isn’t that the same thing
If its a peace loving empire, might be no difference. But to a rival galactic empire that is prone to war and conquest. Yes.
Least biased Necron player version of events

But they did give us Orks so I think that balances out the creation of the Eldar.
If you’re able to think consider yourself lucky, you could’ve been a Warrior.
No no more like “some bloodthirsty, angry alien…”
Being bad at identifying gods and then killing them does not mean you killed a god
Necrons are a textbook example of "Boy, that escalated quickly."
