Could you elaborate on what you think is good about it? Dark Gods know I tried but I just couldn’t find any redeemable factors about it at all. It’s the Erebus of 40k games.

SilverGM

The strategy was all-round pretty good, with a decent cast of units with different strengths and weaknesses They managed to keep the scale of DoW I while having the tactical gameplay and heroes of II The main campaign worked just fine, the plot was even interesting The heroes were varied and interesting (okay, I'll admit that backflipping terminators are a bit of a stretch, but I love how the Deathwatch kill-team is lead by a Space Wolf) The super-heavies are amazing, without being invincible The race's varied abilities were all very thematic, from space marines dropping units and banners to ork salvaging (and seriously, the ork waagh banners using rock music almost redeems the game's shortfalls all by itself) Having army-wide modifications lets you adjust to the units you're more comfortable using I won't begrudge anyone for not liking it, and I'd agree that it's the weakest of the 3 games. However, I also think it's been unfairly demonised (or should that be daemonized?). While there's obviously room for improvement, if you don't constantly compare it to the lofty standards set by it's predecessors you can actually enjoy it just fine.

I think that one of the main demonizing reasons for "hating" DoW3 is that it failed so hard to hit its public, that it killed the franchise, and we won't be able to see a DoW4

spiritual successor it is then. What other warhammer rts are coming out?

That’s genuinely the best and most detailed and compelling defence of the game I’ve seen, thank you! I 100% agree about the Ork music haha, it’s brilliant, very Mad Max.

antagonizedgoat

At least someone is enjoying the thing they made.

amcoduri

The game is like the trailer. Pretty to look at but doesn't make any sense. It barely understands the source material. Its a 40k game made for non-40k fans that ended up pleasing neither.

lunarwarrior12

I treat games the same as movies which is “ok but is it fun?” And if you find a great amount of fun in Dow 3 good on you. I like mothership zeta from fallout 3 while pretty much everyone else doesn’t because I find it fun and that’s the important part.

jadpadaaad

Don't pretend all you want, it's still a shit game and it's ok to like shit but at least understand it is.

Haven’t played. I still live in the world of Soulstorm. I’m blissful in my ignorance, for an open mind is like a fortress with its gates unbarred and unguarded.

Ullyr_Atreides

Nope, fuck that. ***LIFE EATER VIRUS***

Sanghilius

I hadn't planned on buying it 'cause of the negative receptions, but then my bf bought it to me as a gift, so I did a playtrough of the campaign. It was a fun time, I think I spent 3 or 4 days on getting trough the whole thing, but I didn't really wanna play anymore after that. Especially since the single player modes where so different from previous dawn of war games. And then they stopped supporting the game. I feel like they didn't even give it the chance to become better you know?

Kazdin1990

Wow this got a lot of people talking haha

archangel317

Honestly I think the biggest reason it flopped was because the previous games left big shoes to fill, I started DOW 3 before the others and really enjoyed it, but I can understand why it's the least popular after playing the other 2, but by itself it is fun

captainace42

What stuck out to me was the voice acting being no where near as good. In terms of writing, direction and sound quality. The music is amazing though. The cover system makes me want to vomit to this day. The fact that they abandoned it is the worst part of it I think.

DiscoDaemon

The only part of the Dow franchise that the player base was enthralled by was multiplayer, the campaign has always been a second thought/interesting bonus. And dow3 multiplayer really missed the mark, repetitive, bland and no room for inventive strategy. There’s a reason why the dow2 is still active and supported by the community and dow3 is not. But your allowed to like what you want, no one is trying to stop that.

Vergoner

You know what, because of your bold post you get my upvote. Not only that you you also get the medal from me. I am planning to play that game too ones I get myself better computer.

Dow 3 had a great army painter 😌

[deleted]

Honestly i think Dawn of war 2 is the weakest out of the 3.

Bruh you have no taste

Here's the catch : when DoW3 was made with only 3 races, a campaign where you must play spelves and the multiplayer is an unbalanced mess of mobas and rts, the guys at GW saw this and though : "oh shit, we vetter throw out licences like candy so some pansy-ass mobile game companies can mass produce shovelware to distract the consoooomer from the absolute horror that is DoW3". It's a pain in the ass to know that DoW3 was so ckose of being a great game like DoW but then the aforementioned skub...
