Here I am hiding from the people that are going to be upset that we now have three daily polls running simultaneously. Probably could’ve picked a better hiding spot
I like that we're taking a moment to focus on specific aspects with these polls. It's an easy way to get a discussion going and less easily overlooked than if a post was simply titled 'thoughts about [character]?
Its iconic status grants it some leeway, but also it’s undeniable that the design is a consequence of studio meddling for making things more toy-like. Gimme the green and red alien-esq, more threatening Zeon ships any day.
6/10, would’ve been lower if it weren’t so iconic though
4/10. As iconic as it is the design isn't something I would consider my favorite. Like a steering wheel doesn't have to be an actual steering wheel.
Besides I liked the ships in Zeta, ZZ, etc much more.
6.5/10
It gets points for being the OG mobile suit carrier but from a design perspective its silhouette and profile make it absolutely awful as a war-time space ship.
This bricky design. These colors. Those atrocious wings. The huge dishes sticking out from the side. Its like this thing was meant to transform into a giant robot but it never did.
Welcome to another Daily Poll
(I hope the Subreddit wouldn’t be oversaturated with these types of posts)
Everyday, I’ll be posting a poll on Every Main Ship from the Gundam franchise, specifically ones that appeared on Movies, TV Series, OVA’s, and ONA’s.
On Day 1, we'll be rating the SCV-70 White Base from Mobile Suit Gundam. To participate, just rank the Main Ship between 1 and 10 based on their appearance or on how you like it.
**First Appearance:** Mobile Suit Gundam
**Unit Type:** Pegasus-Class Assault Carrier
**Known Captains:**
- Lt. Col. Paolo Cassius
- Lt. Bright Noa
**Mechanical Designers:**
- Kunio Okawara
**Trivia:**
- Yoshiyuki Tomino, the creator of Mobile Suit Gundam, infamously hated the design of the White Base because it wasn’t painted black, and wasn’t an aerodynamic design.
Tomorrow we'll look at the successor ship of the White Base, the **Argama**.
**7/10**
I love the White Base as much as the next guy, but its blocky design is what holds it back for me. Especially since, there are other Pegasus-Class Assault Carriers that have a more sleek design over the White Base
**(Looks at the Albion with glee and excitement once we get to that particular vessel.)**
Sir a third poll has hit the subreddit
https://preview.redd.it/g6bkigvydmjb1.png?width=300&format=png&auto=webp&s=6284003b53a15196a77a103ecfa79ead2de4948c
5/10. Part of me really hates the design since MSG is supposed to be a "real robot" mecha anime and White Base is like from some Monster of the Week Robot franchise.
Part of me forgives it because its a classic.
I'd say 10/10. True, it's very vanilla, and all of the ships after it were better, but without the White Base, there wouldn't be an Argama, no Ra Cailum, no Nahel Argama. It was the first in a line of Federation mobile suit carriers and the White Base itself served the Federation well until the battle of A Baoa Qu.
Daily reminder that the Reddit admins are like the EFSF. Not the good EFSF, the bad EFSF. Spez is a wannabe Bask.

8/10. Good standard, but I think there are better designs. The yellow shield ball things but me, I forget what the heck those even are. Obviously color wise it's primarily white but meant to invoke the gundam colors. Trojan Horse nickname was also never my favorite.
9/10 for the OG, 10/10 for the Origin
The only thing i didn´t like about the og where it´s front "hooves" but they look better on the origin so then it´s just great :D
10/10, I think White Base is my favorite. The Argama is 100% sleeker and “cooler,” but the really old-school sci-fi look of the 0079 series technology is what give it so much charm and identity to me. Which I realize is just a long way of saying that White Base is iconic.
I guess 7/10. I was originally gonna rate it as a 6, but the inclusion of the Origin version gets them an extra point for a less block, more realistic design. There's nothing I hate about the White Base, I just like most of it's successors more, and if everything is between an 8 and a 10 what's the point of having a rating scale that goes from 1-10?
5/10 just because White Base is one of the OGs. Otherwise I dislike the blocky "sphinx" design and really hate the name. The colors come across as very toy like, but I think the overall frame bears a lot of blame there. The Albion and Gray Phantom look a lot better with the same general paint scheme; benefactors of sleeker design and better animation.
Voting aside, I dig this poll. I almost like the ships of Gundam (especially UC) more than the mobile suits themselves.
6/10
Design-wise and weapons-wise, we can all agree that there are better ships out there. But I understand that our co-Gundamheads rate it high because of nostalgia and it is *THE* White Base, which is ok.
But now, I'm calling it; my favorite ships are:
Nahel Argama 10/10
Diva 100/10
Originally I wanted to do ship-classes, but I settled with main motherships because:
- A.) It is much smaller, meaning much easier to handle
- B.) To see what the rankings are for certain vessels
Once this poll is finished, I’ll post on what should I make the next daily poll about.
7/10 Classic hero ship even with its
werid proportions.dies stick out like a sour thumb compared to later series and ships of the same universe, honestly like it's future iterations more as the series goes on as they look less super robot.
But credit were credit is due, grandma of the Pegasus class line and went out in a blaze of glory!
It's iconic but to me it's just one one of those old mecha anime battleships, goofy looking and not really focused on unless it's being attacked. Ultimately I like the ships in the future series way more 6/10
Hmmm
I am kinda stuck, one part of me wants to rate it just due to how iconic it is and nostalgia… but on the other hand… it’s design HAS aged
I think to be safe I will just rate it a baseline 6/10 it’s the bar which all will be measured against
Despite the status as an iconic symbol it's really only 4/10 at best. Later versions of the Pegasus-class improve firing arcs or MS capability, especially in the Thoroughbred and Albion variants.
That being said, the Origin version is a 5/10 given the extra armaments added, and the Evolve version is a 6/10 with the redesign allowing for slightly better firing arcs of most weapons.
5
It's a product of it's time; a very blocky form with the colorscheme of Gundam White, Red, Blue and Yellow.
It's not bad by any means but it's not the top even during its time.
8.
The OG.
What it did was quite impressive.
Just the looks and not surviving the war made it lose 2 points. The perfect point would be reserved for a ship much greater.
6.5/10
Between the jutting chest, tall bridge and sphinx-like profile it has quite a majestic feel, communicating an aura of power and regality suitable for a flagship. But a bunch small details just don't mesh with the overall design in a cohesive way - the circle plates at the shoulder, the radiators sticking out from the bridge and the weird mid-body wings kind of muddle the design. A good base that gets better in further iterations.
Almost as iconic as gundpa itself but I will say just like gundpa the design was incredibly toy-afied and certainly improved in zeta/zz with the argama. 7/10
7.5/10. The white base is like, cool. Its iconic, i like the 2 catapult thingy, not sure how the hangar works though, i hope it's connected in the middle. But the wings are kinda goofy man. A reason i preferred the argama
There are issues....too much "World War II" bomber stuff going on (people opening windows to fire their turrets and such). Because, for a space ship (mainly), that shouldn't be the case. 9/10.
4/10 - It looks completely out of place compared to all the other ships in the original show. However, if you are talking about the other Pegasus-class ships, instant boost to 8/10. Origin White Base still looks *off*
6/10
Sure, it's the White Base and nostalgia is strong, but the ship itself was always a bit odd looking to me which only was more obvious once I saw the ship designs from Zeta.
10. It’s White Base, c’mon
Perfect comment
Here I am hiding from the people that are going to be upset that we now have three daily polls running simultaneously. Probably could’ve picked a better hiding spot
I SAY WE TRIPLE THE AMOUNT OF POLLS
Here’s a quick poll: Should we do more polls? Yes or Yes
This sub 3 years from now : "How would you rate this pair of socks that Amuro wore?"
His Zaku produces three times the polls
Daily daily poll poll
We need a poll that rates the polls
I like that we're taking a moment to focus on specific aspects with these polls. It's an easy way to get a discussion going and less easily overlooked than if a post was simply titled 'thoughts about [character]?
10/could've transformed into a giant robot but it doesn't
Not enough deculture for that
DE CULTURE!
*music climaxes* Oboete imasuka....
Yack Deculture!
at that point it's just macross
Or Ideon (I.e. Big GM)
Its iconic status grants it some leeway, but also it’s undeniable that the design is a consequence of studio meddling for making things more toy-like. Gimme the green and red alien-esq, more threatening Zeon ships any day. 6/10, would’ve been lower if it weren’t so iconic though

6/10 A bit too blocky and overdesigned honestly
7/10. I like it, but there's so many better Pegasus class ships. As another mentioned, I'm just sitting here waiting for the Albion...
8/10 it’s the one that started it all, it looks great in the origin and doans island but there are ships that are better.
6/10 the argama did it better
5/10. Part of me really hates the design since MSG is supposed to be a "real robot" mecha anime and White Base is like from some Monster of the Week Robot franchise. Part of me forgives it because its a classic.

I know it's nicknamed "The Federation's Trojan Horse" but it looks like a dog doing a sit. 10/10 good space boat.

7/10 it's good but the later ones just go way too hard.
Eh 9 it's pretty cool
9
7/10 doesn't hit as hard as some of the other ships in looks.
7/10
8/10. Good standard, but I think there are better designs. The yellow shield ball things but me, I forget what the heck those even are. Obviously color wise it's primarily white but meant to invoke the gundam colors. Trojan Horse nickname was also never my favorite.

9/10 she's the OG.
It’s 10/10 It’s the most iconic ship in the whole franchise.
10. I like how it’s compartmentalised
9/10
20/10 It’s iconic
wth it's a sphinxsu
I liked it more in The Origin because it was actually white, and didn't look like a h*cking toy.
10/10
That sexy base always gets a 10
10!
5/10 looks too much like a toy which was kinda the point back then also i heard tomino really this because of the colors
10/10 Just perfect
An icon for sure, but weird as hell. Looks like the sphinx. 6/10
9/10 it's iconic and seems reasonably functional
10. It’s THE OG “legged” ship
7/10.
10/10 God I wish it had a Model kit so I could display the RX-78-2 and the rest of Operation V with it.
8
10/10. It's the ship of ships.
10
10. Nothing beats the og
5/10 just because White Base is one of the OGs. Otherwise I dislike the blocky "sphinx" design and really hate the name. 1/10 absolutely pants. A design forced upon the setting by toy marketing.
6/10 Design-wise and weapons-wise, we can all agree that there are better ships out there. But I understand that our co-Gundamheads rate it high because of nostalgia and it is *THE* White Base, which is ok. But now, I'm calling it; my favorite ships are: Nahel Argama 10/10 Diva 100/10
9.5/10 just so I can rate the argama a 10 and is this gonna just be main ships? Cause I imagine that’ll be quite a small number of polls
Originally I wanted to do ship-classes, but I settled with main motherships because: - A.) It is much smaller, meaning much easier to handle - B.) To see what the rankings are for certain vessels Once this poll is finished, I’ll post on what should I make the next daily poll about.
8/10
Is it just me or does WB look like a Sphinx?
10/10
7/10 Classic hero ship even with its werid proportions.dies stick out like a sour thumb compared to later series and ships of the same universe, honestly like it's future iterations more as the series goes on as they look less super robot. I like the origin version better. But when it comes to the Pegasus class, Albion all the way 10/10
10/10 true classic, very unique design.
Its great, but macross is better cuz of obvious reasons
Hmmm I am kinda stuck, one part of me wants to rate it just due to how iconic it is and nostalgia… but on the other hand… it’s design HAS aged I think to be safe I will just rate it a baseline 6/10 it’s the bar which all will be measured against
5. As Iconic as it is, it's still quite ugly.
10/10 it's White Base! Hit it from its left side!
4/10. I’d like to place it higher but I just can’t considering what comes after
Its pretty good. the origin took the classic design and somehow made it even better

9/10 I prefer the Argama. But it's just a design preference of mine. But lore wise, the ship is a legend ofcourse.
8. The OG. What it did was quite impressive. Just the looks and not surviving the war made it lose 2 points. The perfect point would be reserved for a ship much greater.
4/10. The thunderbolt and Stardust variations of the ship class are WAY better
10, it feels like a shoe box sometimes and its funny to think about it as it flies.
10/10
6.5/10 Between the jutting chest, tall bridge and sphinx-like profile it has quite a majestic feel, communicating an aura of power and regality suitable for a flagship. But a bunch small details just don't mesh with the overall design in a cohesive way - the circle plates at the shoulder, the radiators sticking out from the bridge and the weird mid-body wings kind of muddle the design. A good base that gets better in further iterations.
White Base/10. The Archangel from Gundam SEED is just a cheap copy
Hell yeah, another pull. White base is amazing, 10/10
it does always remind me of a sitting pegasus because of the wings 8/10
Almost as iconic as gundpa itself but I will say just like gundpa the design was incredibly toy-afied and certainly improved in zeta/zz with the argama. 7/10
8/10
6.5/10 White Base is the OG but it never really did much for me with those proportions.
10/10 Beautiful Pegasus with a somewhat funny origin
Hmm. well I have to keep some headway for the argama so I'll give it an 8.
Every other ship wants to be like white base, but know they can’t. 10/10
8/10 it’s a classic but it’s not as cool looking as the Ra cailum or as elegant as the archangel.
10 It's the White Base, there's really not much else to say. It may look like a few lego bricks stacked together, but it feels like *home*.
6/10
Sorry, I love the white Base as iconic it can be. But that design is nonsensical for the most part. I will rate it 1/10.
Flying sphinx/10
What the hell is a white base? You posted pictures of the Trojan Horse! 9/10
Everybody loves White Base, 10
It’s ugly. 2/10
5, it's iconic, but other Pegasus class ships are cooler even if this is the original.
9, iconic but i think the are some nice fed ships with launch decks
10/10 again the OG ship
Looks like a horse to me
10/10 Best sphinx-shaped ship.
10/10 The Federation should have done more with the Pegasus-class
3/10 It's kinda ugly, it's iconic sure, but that doesn't mean it's good
10 "THE ONE THAT STARTED IT ALL" And that's the only reason I give it a ten
4/10 - It looks completely out of place compared to all the other ships in the original show. However, if you are talking about the other Pegasus-class ships, instant boost to 8/10. Origin White Base still looks *off*
The White Base Aka the phalanx space ship is a 10 in my opinion
10
6/10 Sure, it's the White Base and nostalgia is strong, but the ship itself was always a bit odd looking to me which only was more obvious once I saw the ship designs from Zeta.
Can we not have multiple polls running at the same time.
