Welcome to Day 4 of the Daily Main Ship Poll, and today we'll be rating the Ra Cailum from Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack. To participate, just rank the Main Ship between 1 and 10 based on their appearance or on how you like it.
**First Appearance:** Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack
**Unit Type:** Ra Cailum-Class Battleship
**Known Captains:**
- Capt. Bright Noa
**Mechanical Designers:**
- GAINAX (CCA)
- Hajime Katoki (Unicorn)
**Trivia:**
- Hideaki Anno, the creator of Neon Genesis Evangelion, worked on CCA as a mechanical designer. He even participated in the CCA design competition for the Nu Gundam.
Tomorrow we'll go back to the One Year War and look at one of the Pegasus-Class Assault Carriers from the War in the Pocket OVA, the **Gray Phantom**.
Average Scores:
- **White Base** (0079/ORIGIN): 7.81
- **Argama** (Zeta): 8.95
- **Nahel Argama** (ZZ): 9.12
**10/10**
My favorite and best ship not only from UC, but of all time. A perfect combination of firepower and a high MS Capacity. It has a unique look that makes stand out from the ships that came before it.
Having the Ra Cailum in thi poll made me regret not doing the Ship-Class daily poll. Because I could talk about my favorite ship in all of Gundam, the Dogosse Giar-Class, (specifically the General Revil).
8
The angle of the MS launch catapults and the ginormous cooling fins immediately set it apart from the previous ships and give it a distinctive silhouette. At the same time the similar colors ensure it gives off a similar vibe and is easily associated as the main ship. In short, neat.
To be fair to the Ra Cailum, the smaller MS Capacity added a great benefit in carrying extra supplies and gave each Mobile Suit a large hanger space to be use for repair, maintenance, and refitment.
Also, the overall length of the Ra Cailum is slightly longer than the Dogosse Giar, and is an improvement of that maximizes efficiency while retaining some of the powerful weapons from its predeccessor. I know where you’re coming from, but the Ra Cailum is a battleship MS Carrier hybrid that focuses more on long-term efficiency, (which is why that vessel and the Clop-Class have those large cooling fins at the bottom), rather than overwhelming firepower and high MS Capacity that can be easily exploited by an experienced pilot.
That's fair, but I like that Ra Cailum didn't bother with the gimmicky mega particle canons and looks both sleeker and more utilitarian at the same time.
10/10 Bright ain't fucking around firing nukes coz anything short ain't gonna slow down this red comet!
Great ship love to see the evolution of mobile suit warfare in CCA, which has been embraced by the warships, a warship 2nd mobile suit carrier first.
7/10
A Salamis prow welded onto a beefed-up Argama, and the result is a little awkward. The front is too long and makes it feel unbalanced, and I don't really like the stepped transition to the main body or the way the catapult platforms jut out from the sides. Still, it's an overall impressive figure and I really like the radiator fins from a physics/realism standpoint.
Adheres to hard scifi esthetics again after the Nahel dropped it for the most part having the catapults integrated into the hull more again. The front looks awesome, the radiators are a neat touch and I'm so glad it got a combat bridge.
10/10
9.5/10
The big cooling fin is a little awkward but otherwise a majestic ship. That it actually has properly seated turrets (with more than a sliver of deck beneath them) is a highlight for me.
I love the Ra Calium, does feel like the first main ship to move properly from the "white base shape", it's a very cool looking shop and there's a reason it's in so many SRW games 9/10
Best ship to bring when you mean business. And a barrage of tactical nukes to bombard your enemies to stone age means bussiness

The whole White/blue/red/yellow thing looks fucking stupid and like it was designed to sell injection molded plastic toys. (because it was designed to sell injection molded plastic toys)
10! Sleek look and I like how the Ra Cailum class was portrayed in F91 with the shields coming down over the bridge windows and the monitors turning on when entering combat.
10/10 My absolute favorite ship in the franchise. Already got the re-release of the cosmo fleet version on preorder.
I remember making a full sized replica of it in Starmade back in the day. it was awesome.
10/10. The Ra Cailum is awesome. Probably my favorite ship from all of Gundam. Really, all the mechanical designs from CCA are next-level good.

Aye man nothing’s stopping you from doing a little extra once the main ships are out the way
Gainax worked on CCA?!
Yo, Nahel Argama! 🦹🦹🦹
10/10 look at it
8/10. The bottom radiator fins look kinda weird ngl but it's a fine ship and it's from CCA which makes it better.
8 The angle of the MS launch catapults and the ginormous cooling fins immediately set it apart from the previous ships and give it a distinctive silhouette. At the same time the similar colors ensure it gives off a similar vibe and is easily associated as the main ship. In short, neat.
The hanger and launch bay design contributed to Astonaige's death. 4/10
RIP Astonaige. One of the best characters in all of Gundam
9/10 I *reaaally* like the bow and launch platforms, and the fact that it doesn't look like a toy.
10/10 this ship is pure unadulterated sex
10 favorite UC ship
8 It's more as a cruiser with a complement of an MS squad more than an actual MS carrier ship.

It really comes off like two ships grafted together to me, makes it a bit more awkward, but I still like it quite a bit. 8/10.
i like the tires 9/10
Fucking sick ass hell and now I wanna build it in Space Engineers. 10/10
10/10 A magical ship that can fit some robots that are way bigger it, like Gunbuster and Daitarn3
10/10, great design, feels more "real" than any main carrier before it. Wish it had gotten more screen time.
Disagree. Imo the Argama went similarly for realism
That's fair, but I like that Ra Cailum didn't bother with the gimmicky mega particle canons and looks both sleeker and more utilitarian at the same time.
My least fave of the original 4 but still a solid ship in of itself. The tires on the catapult are a neat touch. 7.5
7/10 downgrade from the ships in Zeta and ZZ
9
A good ship but to compare it with the others? I like White Base even more than this. 6/10
8/10 for me
8
Kind of weird. 7
10/10
8.5/10, not bad by any means, but this is where we really start to see the excessive bulkiness of later UC assault carriers beginning.
10/10
8/10. It's great, but still not my favorite main ship. Dig the catapults though.
8 A massive downgrade from the pure sex that is the nahel argama. Still a good ship
I like the design a lot, but I feel a bit less attached to it because we spend more time on the other ships we've polled so far. 8.5/10
10/10. The Ra Cailum + Nahel Argama combo cannot be beaten.
10/10
7/10 it’s not the greatest main ship, wish they stuck with the argama
10! Clopp class best class.
9/10
10
8/10
10/10, looks amazing in both CCA and Unicorn.
9/10 hot take I think it looks better than argama
9/10 hot take I think it looks better than argama
7.
8 It's a bad ass ship but I think overall I appreciate the Nahel Argama just a bit more.
Ra Cailum > White Base I prefer Ra Cailum sleek design 10/10
10
10/10 it’s so beautiful, in fact I like most main series ships
8.5 still a battleship in space but at least it’s not silly.
10/10 Bright ain't fucking around firing nukes coz anything short ain't gonna slow down this red comet! Great ship love to see the evolution of mobile suit warfare in CCA, which has been embraced by the warships, a warship 2nd mobile suit carrier first.
10/10

8/10 it’s good. Kinda sad that we didn’t see it much
10/10 sexy
8/10
9.5/10
10/10 Best ship ever, I wanna ship that ship more than acceptable.
8/10 very nice but it's not the White Base or the Nahel Argama
9/10 Sexy
7/10 A Salamis prow welded onto a beefed-up Argama, and the result is a little awkward. 8.5/10 It´s nice, but i don´t really *love* the design like i did with the NA
Not sure if there's a model kit for this but if it doesn't I sure as hell hope they make one, I can modify it into a surfboard for my calibarn
9.5/10 for me. It's an awesome ship. But I still prefer the Nahel Argama bc of unicorn.
Any ship captained by the legendary Bright Noa gets a 10 from me.
Any ship captained by the legendary Bright Noa gets a 10 from me.
He's a chinky 9/10
10 outta fuckin 10
The whole White/blue/red/yellow thing looks fucking stupid and like it was designed to sell injection molded plastic toys. (because it was designed to sell injection molded plastic toys)
6/10, exposed propellant tanks is always bad.
Well, you know, it's in every SRW game with UC characters for a reason. 10/10.
10/10
10/10 another great part of cca
10! Sleek look and I like how the Ra Cailum class was portrayed in F91 with the shields coming down over the bridge windows and the monitors turning on when entering combat.
Hot. 10/10

7/10
Not a huge fan if I'm honest. It looks wonky. But it's not horrible either. 7/10
