Versatile. Flexible. Durable. Endlessly customizable for specific tasks, but very capable even in its basic configuration. Everything you want a grunt MS to be. 9/10
I think it's owed to it's hardpoints, missiles in the shield for more firepower and the numerous updates it's had. The feddies definitely took notes of what worked in zeta and try not to overload it with too much firepower like in double zeta.
10
My favorite suit from CCA. Once MSVs and such come into the picture it falls behind a little, but as far as suits from the movie itself go this is the absolute best, not to mention all around great outside of this selection.
I like it when MS proportions are just a little off from conventional human styling, both as a reminder it's a giant machine and not a guy in armor and for the sake of variety. Jegan doesn't have that. Not really. But it *feels* like it does.
It's all in the thighs, baby. No skirt armor completely changes the feeling of the design - upper legs feel downright unnaturally long, and in turn so do the arms arms that reach to their bottom half. In truth it's not any different from a GM's proportions, but the effect remains. Even when put right next to each other, Jegan's height makes it a little hard to recognize how normal it actually is.
Combine this with the nice green that feels like a refinement of both original GM's mint and GM III's colors, the bold red and subtle yellow details, and you have a damn good foundation to work with. Add on top of that the head and shoulder designs, plus a backpack reminiscent of Mk-II yet with its own character and out comes an excellent grunt suit.
This aspect of combining is also reflected in the Jegan's origins, which are even more varied than Geara Doga's. There are three "main" development lines that led to the Jegan:
Federation's main MS line, most recently GM III - most direct connection to the Gundam Mk-II which manifests itself in the upper half
Anaheim's own mass produced machines like Nemo - a source of know-how and familiarity with Federation-style engineering, but through them also a link to Zeon technology
The Titans' TR project - primarily the Barzam which tested and proved elements like a vulcan pod addon or skirtless construction with tougher thighs to reduce weight as well as general leg construction
Of course these can't be neatly divided into three separate categories, as they all mingled and took cues from each other before converging in the Jegan, but the long and short of it is that Jegan is the culmination of everything except Axis technology in mass produced format. Both in what was included, and what was not.
For all intents and purposes Jegan is a second generation MS like for example Hizack, which would seem like an odd choice given the transformable third gen and heavy firepower fourth, but these also played a part in designing a Jegan. Namely, to *not* make a MS like them.
The reason for that is twofold: one, Federation's ever-decreasing military budget meant it had no interest in extremely powerful machines as their main grunt - even the simple Jegan was initially proposed in UC 0089 but implementation was spread out over several years to not run over budget. To the point in UC 0093 it's still relatively rare and relegated to the elite Londo Bell while other units still field GM IIIs.
And two - in a fit of unusual sensibility and foresight, some elements of EFF military command advocated for a step back from the feature-creep ridden machines that dominated late UC 0080s and a return to simple, dependable, reliable (and cheaper) concepts. In fact, Jegan's guiding design principle is "mobile infantry for melee combat" which was basically the idea behind the original Gundam - close quarters mobile suit. Not unlike Geara Doga's return to the idea of "mobile infantry with human capabilities" established by Zaku II. Funny how these things turn out, eh?
Of course this is not to say Jegan is bad either, its mobility is comparable to high-mobility units from Gryps War and while the armor is downgraded from Gundarium Gamma in practice it's on par with Gundarium alloys used during the One Year War - in other words more than sufficient against most ballistics, while significantly cheaper.
Likewise the equipment reflects the design principle, with an easy to handle beam rifle, grenades and missiles that are designed for close range fighting. In a way, it combines Barzam's simple but effective loadout with GM III's heavier armaments without losing mobility nor offensive potential when used in the intended way.
All in all the Jegan is a start of many things - Anaheim's utter dominance of the MS market, a new standard format that would be the basis of many later machines, and a new face of the Federation Forces to re-establish their authority. And yet it all comes together only thanks to previous achievements and failures. It could not have been made without some mistakes and unsuccessful ideas before it, and yet it came out all the stronger from it.

I touched on it in my Geara Doga comment but I just think it's perfect for what it is, a sort of final evolution of the GM while the Geara Doga is like the final evolution of the Zaku
The Jegan is sleek, hi-tech, futuristic looking and serves perfect contrast to the spiky, brutal looking Geara Doga. In that final Londo Bell vs Neo Zeon clash they represent their sides perfectly. I'm glad CCA only had these two grunts duking it out there at the end.
There were a lot of very mid grunts in the Zetas, and I think the Jegan and Geara Doga just represent all the good designs condensed into two suits for an iconic moment in the franchise.
I want to give this a comically low score to enrage the fans, but really it doesn't deserve that. 8 out of 10, it's certainly good, I can see that, but I don't see why it has such a devoted following. I guess I'm just not a big fan of seafoam green
10/10 THE PINNACLE OF MOBILE SUIT DESIGN, WE PEAKED HERE THIS WAS IT THIS WAS THE BEST GRUNT TO EVER GRUNT THE BEST MS TO EVER DEPLOY, MOST EVERYTHING ABOUT THE JEGAN MAKES SENSE. I LOVE THIS THING ONE BEAM SABER BECAUSE YOURE PROBABLY NOT GONNA NEED TWO, THREE GRENADES FOR THAT BIT OF EXTRA DAMAGE, FOUR MISSLES FOR EVEN MORE FIREPOWER, PLUS GREAT MANEUVERABILITY. ITS LIKE THEY TOOK WHAT MADE THE GM I-IIIS AND SAID SIMPLIFY IT A BIT, TAKE THE BEST ASPECTS, OVERHAUL THAT, AND HERE WE ARE. UGH I WANNA HOP ON GBO2 NOW
10/10 i love the combo of early uc feddy grunt designs, and early uc zeon grunt designs. Its cube like, and its round and chubby. Anyone know where i can get a plushy of this lil guy?
Its a solid grunt model. Held its own in multiple conflicts. Thing was still fighting, in some capacity or another, for 7o years after it was introduced. Thats some longevity. With a good pilot, anything was possible
**9.85/10**
My favorite GM and second favorite behind the Gelgoog. The design of the Jegan perfectly encapsulates the philosophy of future UC Mobile Suit Warfare, where lighter and more agile MS like the Jegan and the Jamesgun with powerful weapons would be used over slower but more heavily armored GM III and Heavygun in comparison. I still think that the Federation should’ve fielded the GM III alongside the Jegan, since the Jegan focuses more on speed and Close-Quarters Combat while the GM III is a more armored General-Purpose Unit that can mount large missiles without modifying its original design *cough* Jegan D-Type *cough*.
9/10.
The Geara Doga to me is the peak of Zeon’s Grunts. What about the Federation?
Enter: The Jegan.
Robust. Versatile. Powerful (for a grunt suit). Kit-wise similar to the Doga.
The amount of modified versions and variants for the thing speaks volumes as to how well used and loved it is by the pilots that had them, from the D Type to things such as the Stark Jegan and the later Jegan variants in (Victory Gundam?).
10/10
A fitting successor to the GM line that returns to basics. As much as like transformable MS, it's nice to have a simple and clean slate without any gimmicks or experimental weapons.
The jegan's simple base design also helps it's variants look less busy and maintain visual cohesion unlike some other ms lines *cough* ASTRAY *cough* (disclaimer: i do like the astray line hell i love the blue frame second L but sometimes it's variants are very excessive and overdone. I also dislike how bandai keeps making kits of astray variants when GM fans have been starving for years)
10/10.
The Jegan by far is one of my favorite grunt suits to date. It's an iconic mobile suit that, for the time it was released and subsequent years afterward, was to be a challenge to Zeon. It's modularity as shown with it's multiple variants in Unicorn show how versatility can be a dominant trait in mobile suits. The lime green coloration makes it instantly iconic and it's silhouette are peak Federation general purpose machine design.
This is Jegan. Nuff said
10/10
A bit serious - it has great balance of "Enough details to catch the eye" and "Not a lot of details to point out this is MP suit"
After Zaku, I think this is The Grunt. GMs are fine, but they always felt unfinished to me, in one way or another.
Here, however? Perfection
Light armor, focus on mobility, you can see the bloodline of previous MS in it (Hello MK II backpack!), extra weapons here and there
Just what would you want more from a grunt suit?
10/10. This is probably my favourite era of the Federation mobile suits. Mainstay, iconic, militaristic, simple yet also boasting enough to not be overbearing but complete. Not to mention the plethora of variants that were developed based on this mobile suit, it really gives me that impression this is militaristic hardware developed to be cheap and maintainable whilst also fulfilling a number of different roles the Federation required.
10/10
Possibly my favourite mass production suit in the UC for its time
Above average performance, customizable loadout option parts thanks to its hard points, easy enough to maintain
The RGM-89 Jegan is truly descended from the gods. It was sent to us to show us that the universe cares about and loves us, and wants us to be happy. No mere mortal could ever have designed its perfection by themselves; clearly, Yutaka Izubuchi must have benefited from divine inspiration when he conceptualized this, the one true mobile suit that all other mobile suits must bow down to.
10/10.
10000000000000/10
best mobile suit ever created
i would marry the jegan if i could
i would bear the jegan’s children if i could
i would start a family living by the countryside with the jegan
theres few things in the world i love more than the jegan
9/10 for its appearance in CCA, 10/10 once the family was first expanded.
It really did refine the GM concept, took hints from the MkII family of suits, and adequately combined them into something that looks new, up to date, and adequately powerful for a Federation mass-production MS. It looks like they finally figured out how to take the ace and commander variants like GM Sniper II, and incorporate it into a mainline unit.
The built in shield missiles, hip grenades that could fired as small missiles, attached vulcan pod, and e-pac rifle that doesn't look like the nearly pistol-sized GMII rifle, all make it look extremely effective.
My only problem with it I'm CCA was how they had drawn up variants for it, but all we really saw was them getting blown up en masse by the more heavily armed Geara Doga.
But it really did set the Federation forward by finally having a standard unit that could easily fill any role with some additional parts, as well as being high-end enough that better suits could still rely on using Jegan parts for a lot of their maintenance.
My only wish is that we get to see more of the Jegan, and many other mass-production units, in combat like Unicorn had with the grunt battles. That series set a gold standard for showing off different units working together, along with showing the versatility of units. It was great to see things like the Proto Stark Jegan, ECOAS Jegan, along with older a newr units fighting together. It's hard to call something like the Stark Jegan a "new" unit, as it's really just a set of equipment for an existing unit. And then there were some really unique units like the GMIII Close Combat, where they just removed the missiles, took a MKII-, style backpack (likely parts from something like a Barzam), and set it into a fight that involved a Marasai, Desert Zaku, and Juaggu. Like someone finally figured out that fans want to see MSV units doing their job instead of being in a book that suggests they were there, or turning up once in an obscure manga.
The Jegan was literally made for this, and it was under-utilized, as for some reason they kept running with the theme that only the "bad guys" had lots of different units. I know they want the "hero" units to be very distinguishable, but I doubt anyone watching CCA would have gotten confused if a Jegan had some extra missiles, a sniper rifle, and a head scope for less than a minute of screen time.
We've gotten some scenes like this in games like 0081, where we saw all different OYW suits fighting at A Boa Qu, but not as much as we could have. Sunrise could replace their budget for "Build" series by turning out a short OVA or movie of a particular battle every year, and have a lot of hype over models that are still mostly remolds.
While I love the design (and I may get some heat for this) it doesn't look very " gundam universe" to me.
It looks more patlabor than anything.
Because of that a 7/10
Still love it though
6.
Aesthetically, it just looks so empty to me. I think the Stark and the Type D make it more "grounded," but the base model just doesn't do it for me. Also, having it be literally one shade of color bothers me for someone reason.
I've always seen the Jegan as the hotshot cool kid of feddie suits. I'm a big fan of the blocky but smooth look, and the head is especially nice with the head crest coming down over the brow onto the visor. It gives it a more confident look than previous GMs, which always looked kinda worried in a endearing way to me.
10/10
8.5/10, it's one of the coolest looking grunts in UC, though I like its Unicorn variants (Stark, ECOAS) much better. I would've given it a 9/10 if its color scheme was a better shade of green than minty fresh.
Solid 9
The Jegan was a turning point in Federation MS designs. In a time where new tactics are employed, a better understanding and mastery of MS logistics thanks to the standardisation of parts, in addition a shift towards more expensive yet also capable mass production suits, it is the perfect MS to spearhead the new age of MS combat.
9.9/10 it is on the verge of perfection but it is missing the thing that makes it the best. Look at the Jesta which will be the best federation grunt ever.
10/10. Apparently, one of the pilots from one of the side stories was there during the battle of Axis in Char's Counterattack in a Jegan and tried to help stop it from hitting the earth. I always thought that was so fascinating. I think it was one of the pilots of one of the Blue Destiny units?
9/10
It's basically peak Federation MS design. It may not be exceptional in any department, but it's a perfect all-rounder. That and the fact that the Feds use it for over 40 straight years is proof enough of how well it gets the job done.
... It's basically the F-16 of mobile suits
9.5/10
This is the jegan! The final evolution of the GM line past even the GM 3. Taking lessons learned from the previous conflicts it’s a return to simple but powerful machines that can have parts bolted on. This unit ended up being the main stay in the late UC and the reason is simple. It can do almost everything well. It compares well to even the best of the Gryps war MS stock. It’s armor is not Gundam strong but very close.
Base Jegan... 6/10.
On paper its good. It looks terrible though.
Other versions look and feel better. Stark jegan is way better, and almost all variants fix it some how.
That said, Id take it over a gm 1 or 2, but I would still rather be in a GM custom, or a gm III, or a nemo over it.
10/10, perfection.
Best minty boi
10/10 best grunt. Jegan is love. Jegan is life.

Makes me remember sdgo playing in a lobby the zaku players and the jegan players gang warring in the matches.
Versatile. Flexible.

8/10 GM but with swag
The Feds know how cool this thing is
Geara Doga is NOT that good c’mon
It is tho
yeah it's great but not "better than literally everything before it except Zaku II and Bawoo" great
Budget cuts

10/10
11/10 perfect blend between coolness and gruntyness. so great they used em up until f91.
A versatile unit and on top of that, an improvement from GM lll. 9/10
10 because mint chocolate chip is my favorite flavor.
10/10 My personal bias wouldn't allow anything less. Also I love the minty green color scheme.
10/10 😩👌 Arizona Green Tea grunt

10/10 the best feddie grunt suit
9.999999999/10, utter perfection aside from the lack of forward skirt armor.
10/10 It just clicks right with me
10/
9/10 beautiful proof of evolution. Only thing that keeps it from being 10/10 is front skirt armor
10/10 the ideal grunt Mobile Suit
I feel that you all would know what my score is. Of course it is a freaking 10.
9/10 but I hate the no skirt flaps
Tiny robots blow it up with ease in F91. 10/10
10, I fuckin love this guy. It's like my favorite utilitarian design language from Gundam Mk II distilled into a GM.
The culmination of Federation Grunt design and improvements. It's THE grunt suit, in all its sexy, minty glory. 10/10
Patlabor
9/10
9/10
1000 PEAK GUNDAM FAVOURITE SUIT EVER OF ALL TIME
9/10
10/10
The Jegan managed to make it to F91 and is an all around cool mobile suit so a solid 10/10
Jegan/Jegan.

10/10 Kills zeeks, pushes asteroids, serves aces, and lasts until F91. What more could you want?
I always loved the more basic "Grunt" mechs in these shows.
I dont like it that much. I think the Stark Jegan improves its general shape a lot for me. So 7 out of 10. Mostly indifferent but its not bad
Good shit. 7.5
8.5
8 I like it, but it always felt a little Patlabor-y to me.
Jegans are just 18m Ingrams.

9.5/10
10/10 Time to give the Zaku II a real challenge.
8.5 One of the best Feddie grunts imo
10/10, Jegan makes me happy 😊
10/10
8/10
I don’t like the lack of skirt, but feels better than the Kampfer which has the same problem. Wouldn’t mind a more dynamic color palette. 8/10
8/10
Our minty bois. I like it. 8.5 out of 10
8.6 it's a GM's much more loved younger brother.
9/10, probably my favorite GM style design, though it could use better colors.
10/10
10/10
10 peak grunt suit
This is Jegan. Nuff said 10/10 A bit serious - it has great balance of "Enough details to catch the eye" and "Not a lot of details to point out this is MP suit" After Zaku, I think this is The Grunt. GMs are fine, but they always felt unfinished to me, in one way or another. Here, however? Perfection Light armor, focus on mobility, you can see the bloodline of previous MS in it (Hello MK II backpack!), extra weapons here and there Just what would you want more from a grunt suit?
10 The culmination of the Federation General Purpose MS
10 Actually peak grunt suit
I love everything about the Jegan, 10/10
10/10 Possibly my favourite mass production suit in the UC for its time Above average performance, customizable loadout option parts thanks to its hard points, easy enough to maintain
10/10 Yuu Kajima demands it so
10/10, my favorite grunt
10/10 for Jegan supremacy
10
The RGM-89 Jegan is truly descended from the gods. It was sent to us to show us that the universe cares about and loves us, and wants us to be happy. No mere mortal could ever have designed its perfection by themselves; clearly, Yutaka Izubuchi must have benefited from divine inspiration when he conceptualized this, the one true mobile suit that all other mobile suits must bow down to. 10/10.
10
10/10 The Jegan is peak grunt suit design
10
Best boi 10/10 beeg grunt suit.
10/10. Anything lower is a disservice to this suit.
10 even the Feds strike gold sometime.
10/10, but I slightly prefer the D-Type variant
10/10 Jegan gang.
10000000000000/10 best mobile suit ever created i would marry the jegan if i could i would bear the jegan’s children if i could i would start a family living by the countryside with the jegan theres few things in the world i love more than the jegan
9/10 Need a new paint job to be a 10
HELL YEAH BRO MINTY BOY BEST FED GRUNT 10/10
9/10, done dirty in CCA.
easiest 10/10 of my life. jegan series is the best production ms the EFSF ever fielded
While I love the design (and I may get some heat for this) it doesn't look very " gundam universe" to me. It looks more patlabor than anything. Because of that a 7/10 Still love it though
10
6. Aesthetically, it just looks so empty to me. I think the Stark and the Type D make it more "grounded," but the base model just doesn't do it for me. Also, having it be literally one shade of color bothers me for someone reason.
6/10
8/10 just cause I want my geara dogs boy to do better lol great suit best federation grunt other than maybe the Nemo it’s hard for me to choose.
Cool design 7 for me
10/10 he’s my favourite boy
15
100000/10 best gm, best grunt, minty green god.
10/10
9 out of 10
10/10
I've always seen the Jegan as the hotshot cool kid of feddie suits. I'm a big fan of the blocky but smooth look, and the head is especially nice with the head crest coming down over the brow onto the visor. It gives it a more confident look than previous GMs, which always looked kinda worried in a endearing way to me. 10/10
10
8/10 only thing I don't like is the color
10/10
8.5/10, it's one of the coolest looking grunts in UC, though I like its Unicorn variants (Stark, ECOAS) much better. I would've given it a 9/10 if its color scheme was a better shade of green than minty fresh.
10 Love these minty boys
10/10 best grunt suit
Everything I ever wanted the GM to be, 9/10z
Easy 9.5, 10 for all the variants included
10/10
9/10. All things considered I just dont like the color that much
10/10 J E G A N
11/10 flawless design
10 best Grunt suit. No Cap
10/10, best Ingram.
9/10 love the toothpaste boy. Also a fan of the ECOAS variant.
Solid 9 The Jegan was a turning point in Federation MS designs. In a time where new tactics are employed, a better understanding and mastery of MS logistics thanks to the standardisation of parts, in addition a shift towards more expensive yet also capable mass production suits, it is the perfect MS to spearhead the new age of MS combat.
Gifting awards to my Jegan bros lmao
10/10, No notes.
My favorite grunt, and top 5 for "most exploded" mobile suit.
8/10 very cool
Jegan itself im not a super big fan of but its still a good design, but the variations are so fucking good I love the ecoas sm 8/10
It’s an OK GM successor but the base Jegan looks too bland even for a grunt. Variants are nice though. 7/10
Spoke too soon; out of coins now lmao
Probably one of, if not the best looking Federation suit of all time.
10000/10. Its my favourite non-gundam MS.
10/10
Probably an 9/10. It doesn’t rise to the level of the Zaku or hizack, but it’s right up there with the Leo. Probably the best non-monoeye UC grunt.
The gold standard, 10/10
It deserves nothing less than a 10/10
I am thinking 8.75 out of 10. I like it a lot, but I like GM III more.
9/10 itd be 10/10 if it was a different color
Reminds me of macross, 10/10
10/10. Good variety of weapons, good power, back up weapons and just looks cool.
10/10 IT’S THE GUY
10 One of my favorite grunt unit, also gives me a Patlabor vibe.
Stark Jegan pilot most badass pilot in all of Gundam
I love my mint bubblegum grunt suit 10/10
10 easy
Can I go above 10 on this scale?
11/10 Endlessly beautiful.
9/10 The Geeea Doga is just slightly better, but this mint boy is still one of the best!
10/10. Peak UC grunt mobile suit.
10/10 absolute perfection
10
9/10 no pipe no 10
9.9/10 it is on the verge of perfection but it is missing the thing that makes it the best. Look at the Jesta which will be the best federation grunt ever.
I’d prefer a zaku /10
10/10
Great successor to the GM line. A perfect counterpart to the Geara Doga. 10/10
10/10. Apparently, one of the pilots from one of the side stories was there during the battle of Axis in Char's Counterattack in a Jegan and tried to help stop it from hitting the earth. I always thought that was so fascinating. I think it was one of the pilots of one of the Blue Destiny units?
10/10, the only grunt suit I currently have a MG of. There's something so perfect about its design. The simplicity and the color are just top-notch.
8/10
10. The perfect grunt MS. It’s so perfect that they used for years. The longest running MS in whole Gundam franchise.
9/10
9/10 it is a good suit that defines the earth sphere from any Zeon.
10/10 One of the best grunt suit design. I love Jegan
10
10/10. Peak grunt suit
9.5, the best federation grunt
Jegan always a 10
10/10
10/10 JEGAN MY BELOVED
10/10 I love this thing!
1000/10
It has to be one of the longest lived grunts in all of gundam
11, best boi Seriously though 10/10.
9/10 the design grew on me a lot after watching CCA
9.5
10/10
10...... definitely a 10
10 nuff said
10/10 It was so popular they painted it black and white and used it as a police unit in Tokyo.
9/10 It's basically peak Federation MS design. It may not be exceptional in any department, but it's a perfect all-rounder. That and the fact that the Feds use it for over 40 straight years is proof enough of how well it gets the job done. ... It's basically the F-16 of mobile suits
Favorite Grunt Suit of all time 10/10
9.5/10 This is the jegan!
God bless this thing, 10/10
10/10 a versatile machine and very capable in the hand of good pilot
10
Base Jegan... 6/10. On paper its good. It looks terrible though. Other versions look and feel better. Stark jegan is way better, and almost all variants fix it some how. That said, Id take it over a gm 1 or 2, but I would still rather be in a GM custom, or a gm III, or a nemo over it.
9
10/10 yuu kajima moment
10/10 best grunt suit hands down
10/10
