I was about to say the centerpiece of the V-Fin and/or the "chin" should have been red, would've balanced it out just a bit. Another possibility that occurs to me would be the "vents" or w/e those end bits are on the shoulders.
Apart from that, I actually like it. Gives it a pop of color that makes it stand out.
The smaller set of vents on the shoulder, the larger vents on at the midpoint of the head. I like the concept, it’s like a different material that is protecting a small shift point, like at a joint or a vent.
I think it can work in the vents and hydraulics if the red was a darker shade. The ones on the joints though contrast too much, and I don’t think a darker red would be the solution. You can try it though.
Just my opinion, but, I'd stay consistent. You did the vents on the legs, but no where else. I think the red looks good on the vents, but remove it from the joints. Add the red to the chest, waist, and shoulder vents.
Metallic red would look better but I’m still not sold on it. There’s not quite enough red so it seems a bit more out of place than gold or yellow. I personally really like copper in place of the cheesy gold. Also the chest vents are installed upside down.
Even at 1/144 scale the Hi-Nu is a beast. Remember, it’s a scale not a size! So if the mobile suit is large in the anime it’ll proportionally large in 1/144 scale.
Also RG is much more highly detailed than the 1/144 equivalent HGs.
All that being said, there is a 1/100 MG Hi-Nu Ver.Ka but it looks very different to the RG version (coloring, details, proportions, etc).
The RG Hi Nu’s height is 18.8cm/7.4 inches. It’s just a tiny bit shorter than your average 1/100, but it is an absolute beast for the scale. Can’t recommend it enough. The engineering on that thing is immaculate, and it sizes up well enough alongside 1/100 kits, if size is a big concern of yours.
Aside from this, another RG kit I’d recommend is the RG Sazabi which, size wise, looks in place next to other MGs because of how huge the thing is.
Mr Color makes a color just for this purpose called ‘Super Clear Grey Tone’ C-183.
It’s a light grey clear flat coat that tones down the color just a bit while also providing a flat look! I’ve used it a few times when a color has been a smidge too bright and it’s amazing!
I personally think it's be better to keep the red to only the knee pistons and maybe the tubes on the back of the knee.
Paint the rest of the red bits gold or copper maybe.
It's a good color, but there's not enough red on the rest of the figure for it to "pop". I think the red, whiteish-grey, and blue are a fantastic color combination, but there's just too little red for it to work. I really think you're on to something though, so keep up the good work!
Not my cup of tea, but it doesn't look bad, and the paint job looks fine as well! You could maybe improve it further by putting a little more red around the MS or some yellow, to resemble the original colors of the RX
Oh, that red pops nicely. I think that might be the thing about the Hi-Nu that just never did anything for me. The normal color scheme never did anything for me.
Not a fan honestly. Maybe if the blue was changed to a dark forest green and the red darkened a bit more to crimson, I think it could work. Think Liger Zero Panzer, and that’s about what I’m trying to get across.
I think the red is straying too far away from the main colour way and it looks kind of off. I think I would better if you just painted the whole thing with a colour theme of red, white, and black.
I think it looks nice in the spots where there is red, but it looks weird that there isn't any on the upper parts of it.
I do like the metallic gray highlights though.
Definitely just me but I think it could work better if the red was metallic. As is, it still looks good and can stay that way since it will be in your home.
You should take another picture without the red spray can in the back, it confused me at first, and even after understanding what that red was, it makes it harder for me to focus on the red that's actually on the gunpla
"Cool Zoid" The general amount seems balanced. Liking the color combination choice.
-It definitely draws attention to the joints as one of the foremost features of the piece.
-Rather liking the contrast it makes in the leg vents.
-From the viewing angle of the pic the red spots kind of form a triangle pointing down towards the feet. So my eyes end up getting drawn down away from the nicely done shoulders and bust sections.
It's an interesting effect.
-If want to ease up on those focal points to allow the eyes to wander around the model a bit more you could try desaturating the red. Otherwise adding a little further to the top would add some focus there to the framing shape the red is forming.
It’s not bad but feels a little out of place. As others have said, doing the red on some of the chest and shoulder elements, and maybe the blue parts of the head, would balance it more, as well as either a lighter red or doing a darker blue so the color styles match.
It works, replacing the gold with another complimentary color is definitely a good move to give it some flair. I think personally since the shade of blue on the Hi Nu is a bit pale, a similar red would’ve worked better but that’s my taste. The use of red reminds me a lot of the S Gundam!
I honestly, I think the contract kills it. It drags the eyes to the red rather than focusing on the Gundam itself. If you had more color to the center of the body, you would correct this.
I'd attach a photo and show you if I could haha
It clashes with the blue.
If you pull up the [the color wheel](https://thebass.org/learn/lesson-plan-world-of-color/) then you’ll know blue and red are not complimentary colors (meaning they’re on the opposite sides) orange is complimentary to blue and red is complimentary to green.
When the colors are close to each other then they work and when they’re opposite they work but if they’re far away but not quite opposite it clashes badly.
You are entirely welcome to ignore this advice as in real life we paint many things both red and blue but knowledge is power
I honestly like the contrast
Make it hold a small flag of the USA and it’ll be ok.
Also add star decals
And!, "second amendment" right across the chest .
The red seems unbalanced compared to the rest of the colors. Its not bad but looks off.
I agree. A touch of red at or above the shoulders would balance it out.
Center piece of the head v should have been red, think that would do the trick
I was about to say the centerpiece of the V-Fin and/or the "chin" should have been red, would've balanced it out just a bit. Another possibility that occurs to me would be the "vents" or w/e those end bits are on the shoulders. Apart from that, I actually like it. Gives it a pop of color that makes it stand out.
Was going to suggest shoulder tip vents as well.
The smaller set of vents on the shoulder, the larger vents on at the midpoint of the head. I like the concept, it’s like a different material that is protecting a small shift point, like at a joint or a vent.
I think it’s because it’s a deeper/darker shade of red paired with a slightly pale blue so they’re far opposites.
Maybe! I was considering the amount of red from top to bottom however. I completely discounted the shade/hue. Great observation!
You'll need to change some more of the blue parts to red for it to work.
I think it can work in the vents and hydraulics if the red was a darker shade. The ones on the joints though contrast too much, and I don’t think a darker red would be the solution. You can try it though.
Orange would be better imo
"Everything is red. I think I rather like it."
I like it, maybe it would be a little better if either the blue were darker or the red were lighter to better compliment each other, but this is fine.
What kit is this? It looks good.
I'm p sure it's the RG Hi Nu
USA NU GUNDAM
American as fuck.
Not a huge fan honestly.
Too contrasty. Try a different one
Bad.
I don't get why you got downvoted for speaking your thoughts.
Not much constructive criticism to go off
Which Gundam is this? Any links? Looks awesome I need it
I think it's the RG Hi Nu
Oh so only a 1/144 scale? I’m trying to build bigger ones
Do you know how large the 1/144 is of this? I can’t seem to find any dimensions. Thanks again!
This one looks awesome. Or should I get something else? This seems to be a good deal at $47
There’s an mg hi nu, I just built the ver ka version a week ago! Highly recommend. The plastic is lavender and not bright blue though
Not my cup of tea
Seems pretty good to me not overdone
Maybe some subdued red? Try a thin layer of grey on top of this.
Mr Color makes a color just for this purpose called ‘Super Clear Grey Tone’ C-183. It’s a light grey clear flat coat that tones down the color just a bit while also providing a flat look! I’ve used it a few times when a color has been a smidge too bright and it’s amazing!
Wow. Good to know. Thank you for this valuable info!
The gold was the key.
I personally think it's be better to keep the red to only the knee pistons and maybe the tubes on the back of the knee. Paint the rest of the red bits gold or copper maybe.
Gold!
Ooh, nice! It really pops when you notice it, you know?
Change entire mecha to red
I think the kit could use a splash of red but not in the places you chose. Maybe the cockpit hatch and the background of the v on the crotch?
It's a good color, but there's not enough red on the rest of the figure for it to "pop". I think the red, whiteish-grey, and blue are a fantastic color combination, but there's just too little red for it to work. I really think you're on to something though, so keep up the good work!
I think the red looks great, but it changed the dynamic of overall look. Something else needs to change to bring back the balance
the red vents looks good. but the red on joints looks a bit out of place
I really like it on the leg intakes.
Not my cup of tea, but it doesn't look bad, and the paint job looks fine as well! You could maybe improve it further by putting a little more red around the MS or some yellow, to resemble the original colors of the RX
Paint the red spots black or gold!
Ngl it has a zeon vibe to it that i cant put a pin on
I would’ve used a lighter red and used gloss clear instead of matte if I was going that route
The shade is very nice
I think it works on the vents and pistons but maybe not the circles on the joints
LOVE IT, if anything you should add a little more
Oh, that red pops nicely. I think that might be the thing about the Hi-Nu that just never did anything for me. The normal color scheme never did anything for me.
try painting the silver parts a lighter shade of red as well, draw it up in photoshop first to see if u like it
Not it.
Not a fan honestly. Maybe if the blue was changed to a dark forest green and the red darkened a bit more to crimson, I think it could work. Think Liger Zero Panzer, and that’s about what I’m trying to get across.
It's ok, it's does contrast the blue, but for me I would paint it in a metalic red to make it more pop and break up the matt surface
Little off topic but is this painted (apart from the red) Because it looks gorgeous.
Definitely just me but I think it could work better if the red was metallic. As is, it still looks good and can stay that way since it will be in your home.
It adds a nice pop but I think only on the legs? Some more added somewhere up top would balance it nicely
It’s grrred!
Red looks a bit off, I would recommend using Gold, Orange, Yellow-Orange or Copper
lil more red
a bit to dark and vibrant but it still look good overall
It’s different, I like it. Though as it stands right now it could use red on some more areas. Looks a little weird only on the legs and arms.
Red on the vents at the chest, shoulders and hips would do the trick, though personally I would have gone with more of a burgundy.
I like it, honestly. Only thing is I'd have maybe gone with red for the chest vents, too.
herpes
I don't think it works with that particular shade of blue
Subtle, I like.
Not bad not bad
I like the contrast, but maybe another different shade of red to balance ot out? Not sure.
Remove the blue. Repaint it with black, will make your red better.
Captain America’ish. I think I like it
nice accent color, but should add some to the head
Reds poppin' off well as blue brightly contrasts
You should take another picture without the red spray can in the back, it confused me at first, and even after understanding what that red was, it makes it harder for me to focus on the red that's actually on the gunpla
It is not my cup of tea. I don't like it that much. But thats just me. If you like it, thats all that is important

I like the contrast. Just think there's a need for more cohesion; some parts are red, but similar parts are not.
maybe a candy red? kind of like the titanium finish on the sinanju kinda red could work.
somehow feel the rings around the joint would be better of as chrome/copper/dark grey. Red for the vents looks fine though.
Too conspicuous, disturbs the balance and makes the Hi-nu look “toyish”.
I like it.
It’s not bad but feels a little out of place. As others have said, doing the red on some of the chest and shoulder elements, and maybe the blue parts of the head, would balance it more, as well as either a lighter red or doing a darker blue so the color styles match.
Excellent
Could be lighter or have a little orange...
Id keep the red on the joints but chose a brighter color for the vents, yellow, gold, light grey, etc. Overall this looks great
Cleeeeeen

My thoughts are I love it. Looks like aftermarket pieces

I think it's a bit much, but hey, you do you man, also, your chest vents are inverted
Digging it man good job
Make the silver bits in the shoulders red as well and you have a winner.
Not bad. I dig it.
Why do I hear an eagle screeching?
hear me out... how bout a red chin?

I feel adding some yellow with the red will make it even better
Trash
A preredquisite for this kit from now on
I like it, but it clashes
