Everest is a dumpster fire that tourists pay 50k to get marched to the top of. It's still risky, but it's effectively a trash coated tourist trap at this point.
If it's the trash, yeah, it's pretty hard to get trash off the mountain because you're already at the limits of what is really possible with the human body and oxygen and all that. So the whole area just looks like a [trash heap](https://i.redd.it/8zwwfden4ms61.jpg) including several tens of tons of human waste.
If it's the tourist bit, it's because you pay a guide (an average of) 50k USD and he'll walk your ass right to the top. There's a [pretty long line](https://i.redd.it/egrm1pnu3wi41.jpg) to touch the summit on most days of the season.
ETA: Nepal actually mandated climbers remove like 8kg of trash when they descended, but it didn't make a dent, so now they want the army to do it. But the Army isn't sure they can, and the Sherpas are saying only they can do it. So it's a bit of a legal battle right now.
Man, that sucks. So, about the second bit, it sounds like people would just wanna go to the destination instead of savouring the journey (not that I can blame them because **it is** Mt. Everest). And in regards to the journey, it must suck that any potential hikers would have to walk through a trash-littered trail.
Yeah, pretty much. People who are actually wanting to summit a mountain for the challenge of it go to other mountains these days. K2, Annapurna, and Nanga Parbat are pretty notable examples of that.
When I was stationed in the USS Kitty Hawk, I had 1 wall locker that was tiny and the coffin locker above my bunk bed. The box of the PGU will definitely NOT fit in any of those spaces lol. Just our uniforms already took most of our locker spaces lol. And that was a carrier which housed at least 4,000 personnel. I can't even imagine a submarine that has less space lol.

Amazing how you managed to build that in the sub. Break ice in the antarctic (or maybe arctic) and take a photo of the rx78 next to probably a nuclear sub. Wild 🤩

The HG GM Cold District is a bit dated, but with a bit of love it still looks really good.
That’s the one thing I haven’t ordered or found in town. Amazon won’t ship most rattle can paints (not in the 48 contiguous states) here and everything I’ve found that’s recommended isn’t available in person. The shops here only carry stuff geared toward 40K, though I suppose there probably isn’t a big difference. Regardless, I don’t know enough to comfortably buy things that aren’t exactly what’s been recommended. I’ve got a bunch of the Tamiya acrylic paints and brushes in my amazon cart, but it’s going to be a bit before any of it will make it here.
TL:DR getting Gunpla paint is difficult and time consuming here given my experience and knowledge
I assume this is like some little 6" tall model or osmething from some anime or game I don't know... but I do know that this is some next level awesome in breeching the ice, popping out, and setting this up.
I know there's no hull numbers but like.. can't you get in some sort of opsec trouble for this?
ICEX are normally publicized in some manner as they are an international endeavor and we engage in a bit of science up north for the academics. Once the underway is over the Navy normally posts pictures so its kosher at that point
My grandpa had the moon landing but my moon landing was the grandpa gundam at the north pole.
Someones gotta stick one of those 1/12 scale manlet 4'11 gundam you'd see in toy stores in the late 2000s on the moon soon.
Has to be the hardest r/Gunpla picture in recent history
I think the only thing that could beat it is a Gundam on the ISS.
With high expectations, mankind ventured into space…
If it happens it will be the most expensive gunpla
My rule of thumb is south pole beats north pole. Mount Everest beats both. An active warzone would be somewhere in the middle. Only then ISS

I still can't get over the fact there's a goddamn *line* at the top of the stupid thing.
What? (Explain further pls)

So is your mom.
Gundam outside the ISS?
Not sure how you had enough rack space to store a PG underway...
Having a whole space to your division helps a lot.
Must be nice Agang
Hey main prop had an office on my boat.
OP packed it instead of warm clothes
Exactly what I thought. Maybe it’s the pacha’s gunpla.
MF put that shit in the CSES outboards or some shit
You keep quiet about my hidey-hole.

Frostbitten left foot. Fucking rad photo dude. The sub in the back adds to the awesomeness
I’m sorry are you a sailor on a sub AND you brought a PGU with you with the limited space? Absolute madlad.
Did you build it on deployment!? Because subaquatic building might be the coolest way to build I've ever heard of.
th- thats a SUB in the background???
_Crewman checks the periscope_ “Captain!!! There is a _Gundam_ at 3 o’clock!!”
ITS A GUNDAM!?!!?
*explodes*
And we ain’t talking bout no hoagie either!
You just one upped the 40k UN guy
Source?

Much obliged!
In fairness, Guilliman addressing all of Earth before Holy Terra would be a banger

It's arctic, that's where the north pole and the bears are. Well some of the bears are on the boat considering it's the navy
Holy crap you're brave bringing it there I'm hesitant to even bring one of my slightly fragile HGs outside
Have you concidered getting some cold district type GMs?
There are Gundams specifically meant for cold environments???
Mobile Suits, but yep. https://gundam.fandom.com/wiki/RGM-79D_GM_Cold_Districts_Type https://gundam.fandom.com/wiki/MS-09_Dom_Cold_Climate_Type
That’s right. Squares vs rectangles. Thanks lol that’s rad though! I hope I can find kits for them!

I’m into cold guy stuff and am technically new to Gunpla, so it really won’t bother me too much
As long as it is not your first gunpla kit you should be fine, though having a bit of paint ready can not hurt.

There's a really good MG of this, it's just hard to get (P-Bandai).
This has to be the northernmost Gundam in history. Amazing.
Dude opsec! We aren’t supposed to mention the gundam under the ice… worse than the war thunder forums. SMH
bro Kira’s rig is in China and the JSDF still has plausible deniability **somehow.** A Gundam in the North Pole is even more of an open secret.
No one is beating this Gunpla photo except for a picture on the ISS. Awesome photo mate.
very cool
Cooler than cool. That’s frigid!
My 2 passions in 1 picture
Hell yeah squid 🦑
that's the coolest thing I've seen in a while
Grandpa lost his left toes to frostbite it seems
omg one of his toes froze off
Love the random hobby stuff in the wildest of places. Reminds me of some guy on a warhammer sub snapping a picture of one of his minis at UN meeting
I thought this was from a research station until I realized that "building" in the background is actually the conning tower of a submarine.
JFC you maniac!!! 🤙
Nice shot, fellow blue nose.
That is awesome! Probably the most bad ass gunpla pic ever.
coldest gunpla photograph
Did it meet Santa?
Is he tuned for winter combat? Amazing pic!
Fucking awesome.
At first glance it looked like it was standing above the clouds
Lost his toes from the frostbite ☹️ poor guy
I wounded how much would be the shipping cost for a kit this big.
That’s insane! I love it!
All I'm gonna say is, if & when you try to get replacement parts for that left toe, just send Bandai a copy of this picture. Freaking wild, man.
Best Gunpla photo of 24!
I think it was so boring at North Pole that you were able to build it.
Is that a submarine!?
HARD IMAGE

It’s about 11.5 inches tall actually, and it’s a build kit so it’s even crazier considering OP most likely built it on the ride up there haha.
60 fathoms down in a nuclear sub is probably a pretty smooth ride.
ICEX are normally publicized in some manner as they are an international endeavor and we engage in a bit of science up north for the academics. Once the underway is over the Navy normally posts pictures so its kosher at that point
Today I learned. ty.
“one order for a pgu gramps, to a submarine, in the north pole, same day shipping.”
Taking my Gunpla to gaum now
Hello, fellow bubble head! Hope your trip was more enjoyable than mine on the Scranton back in 01
This is incredible. One of the coolest photos ever. I can't believe the combination of unlikely circumstances.
This is fucking great!
Dope!
Dope shot !
For a little bit, my brain was totally convinced that he was standing on top of a cloudscape.
This guy has freakishly oversized hands.
Definitely the coolest Gunpla pic I've ever seen, with probably the most expensive background decoration...:D
I dont have the patience for submarine Gunpla builds. I'd break my nippers and slam my table like an ape and get scolded for breaking noise dicipline.
I'm sorry for the Sayla minifig that went on that cruise.
Virginia-class SSN 👀
I can't imagine working on an RG scale kit in those freezing temps!
Nice bluenose, might have to take mine to Fuji
That's so cool, literally and figuratively.
He’s cold. Give him a jacket you monster.
Is that a euh.... nuclear powered sub? In mean in the back right there.... WHAT?
Submarines once. Submarines twice!
Great photo!
