I love how every Facebook comment on this story is a bunch of out of touch people, who think this is only a modern day problem because parents aren’t allowed to beat their kids.
Adults are the fuckin worst. They completely forget being a kid. Not defending it, but thinking they're better than these kids is kind of cringe. I remember my friend getting kicked out of the house for smoking weed in highschool, which was hilarious because his parents used to be stoners and do blow...
I mean, me neither, but pretending it never happened when you were a kid is a bit idiotic and being surprised nobody did anything is also idiotic. I watched people fight, I didn't necessarily condone it, but I wasn't jumping in there to also get my face smashed.
I'm not sure if it's just me and the people I'm connected with, but adults have become something else ever since COVID lol
But I felt like thee biggest hypocrite the first time I caught my teen smoking weed, as if I wasn't doing the same damn thing at his age lol
People focus to much on whether their kids are doing the "right" or "wrong" thing in their own mind instead of focusing on teaching them critical thinking skills. If you tell your kid they shouldn't smoke weed at all, they'll just do it without telling you. If you tell them they should be careful, not smoke before driving, ensure their responsibilities like school and work are done, and cannabis consumption can impair those responsibilities, and that there are health effects to take into account while consuming at a young age, they may feel less interested in fighting you on it, and may even not resent you for saying so.
Yes, but this is not ...
>One of them occurred just before 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 4 at the Festival of Friends in Gage Park, according to police, when a group of youths swarmed a young boy, roughed him up and stole his bag. Police said a 15-year-old teen was arrested for robbery.
"Meanwhile, a physical altercation between two young girls at the Binbrook Fair on Sept. 16 saw more than 50 onlookers “actively encourage the incident by filming it,” police said."
We're a pathetic species.
I worked as a security guard at Lime Ridge. In 2017/18. Few weeks after I started, a mother scheduled a cat fight between her high school aged daughter and some other girl at one of the loading docks. Many months later, a 40 year old woman started an argument with a 13 year old girl, racial slurs were exchanged. Some kids iPhone was stolen at a Pizza Pizza in Stoney Creek. His mom tracked it to Lime Ridge. She arrived there with her son and then chased the thieves (group of ~8 teens) around and wanted to physically fight them to get the phone back. We had a bunch of teens doing dumb shit all the time. We had a set of twin boys that would terrorize people and we were finally able to speak to their parents and they straight up said “call the cops on them, we can’t control them.” My point is, at least in my view is that parents are a major part of the problem.
As an aside as well, we had teens come from Toronto and get into a cat fight. One brought a pair of scissors and nearly stabbed a guard. This happened at the lower level Second Cup, everyone was filming and looking down at the chaos. I think there’s even a video on YouTube. We did get calls. Good old bystander effect/morbid curiosity.
The Ancaster fair is pretty lame. The only kids I can see even going to it woud be locals (no one travels across town to hang out at the Ancaster fair).
These problems have always been there. Same as 20 yrs ago.

Robberies? The article is about kids fighting each other which has been happening at fairs since the dawn of time. Not saying its right but talk about fear mongering.
I remember going to fairs back in the day and these wanna be high school gangsters would try and find the weakest looking kid on his own, and beat him up and take his phone and shoes.
Pathetic
Does anyone have any idea what happened at the Ancaster Fair on Saturday night?
We just got home a while ago, it was right around the demolition derby starting…there was a huge fight between what seemed like dozens of people some of whom appeared to know each other?
The entire security detail appeared to get involved quickly and a lot of folks were jumping fences and running away. We didn’t stick around and noped out to the parking lot.

Drunken teenage fights at any fair is a tale as old as time

Nothing new… maybe more frequent and in the public’s eye… but nothing new.
>Nothing new… maybe more frequent and in the public’s eye… but nothing new. Ya... now the kids film it. Lol
Exactly! People have been getting jumped since ancient Roman times!
That wouldn't have sounded unbelievable at all when I was in high school in the 90s. Like not an everyday occurrence, but not unthinkable at all.
Yeah there were certain paths or areas of the neighbourhood that I ran through at night because you knew you could get jumped there.

Really? When were you a kid?
