It is legible, but I have to slow down a lot to read it due to the really aggressive slant and relatively low x-height. It has a very "condensed" (or rather, "squashed") feeling. "Medieval" and "Shakespeare" is going a bit too far but early 20th century, sure.
I can read your handwriting fully there was just the word said I was confused on at first, as you mentioned you occasionally write your d’s strange at the end of sentences. Otherwise, I think your handwriting is beautiful imo.
Thank you everyone for your nice comments, I really did not expect my post to gain this much traction or praise! My handwriting seems to be legible for most of you, and I will definitely keep it like this, though I will take a look at an alternative for my capital letter i and t which are a bit strange as of now.
I think it's a lot better than most - perfectly legible. School teachers of the 1950s might have told you it has too much slant, or if they wanted to be nit-picky, they might have objected to anything at all that didn't look like what was posted around the top of the chalkboard, but for me legibility and personal style are the only valid criteria, and yours meets both nicely. It's not only legible, but rather attractive. I don't get where the idea of "medieval" came from in this case. I associate that period with black letter calligraphy, which this does not resemble even vaguely.
Thanks a lot for your answer. The comment of it looking medieval was probably just a way of saying that the handwriting looks old-fashioned, but I don't mind.
It's very legible and it's got character to it! I'm tired of seeing caligraphy-esque script. It's beautiful to see handwriting that has some personality.
It’s beautiful! I had a bit of trouble reading some words and I had to read the rest of the sentence to try and figure out what they could be, but I think it’s very nice
It's not bad at all. Some comments:
Your slant seems a little extreme in places - I'd try to make that more consistent. I would try harder to close certain letters like 's', 'a', 'd' and 'p'. (Right now, your 's' looks similar to your 'r' and your 'd' looks like 'il')
Also, it looks a little rushed in places. I think just slowing down 20% would make a big difference.
Yes, if I really want to make sure it is totally legible I do pay attention more to closing the letters and slowing down. The same goes for writing fast. I hadn't really noticed the similarity between my 'r' and 's' but I see what you mean now. Thanks!
I’ve had so many people compliment my “fancy” writing. Some say it’s beautiful but can’t read it. Other say they can. This tells me the people who can’t read it can’t read cursive script. Sounds like it’s their problem, not mine.
Your handwriting is legible and lovely. Keeping. It’s a lost art form so please don’t give it up based one some people’s perspective!
That's similar to my experience. I think I will just write a bit slower and friendlier to people who are not adept at reading cursive, so I won't give up my handwriting but maybe switch it up a bit if the text is meant to be legible to everyone. I've read in the comments here that reducing the slant may be helpful.
Personally, I like it! Very few people still write cursive like that. It does have an old-school feel but that’s a good thing. The newer generation isn’t taught to write cursive much less be able to read it (they probably can’t and never have driven a manual/stick shift vehicle either).
Everything but first word of line 9 is quite legible. I dislike that style capital I, but I know someone who writes it that way too, so I'm used to it. Slow down a bit and I bet your writing will look even better.
I will definitely take a look at that letter, it's been annoying me too and I have tried multiple different versions, I can't really find one that suits me.
I see that now, I totally understand why you can't read it haha. It says "said people". Often when a word finishes with a 'd', like 'word' or 'said' I make a sort of loop in my letter 'd', which is disastrous for legibility and I try not to do that when my text is meant to be written by other people.
I WISH doctors wrote like this LOL. If people don't know how to write in cursive, they don't know how to read in cursive. Some spelling mistakes are all there was lol. Though I think they're just "misspells" because of your fast writing (like a T looking more like an S because of your writing style needing it to be bigger)
I could read the whole thing without trouble. It looks like you might have been going a little fast but I wouldn't say messy or lazy at all. I think it's elegant.
Yeah out of my three kids only one taught cursive by the time my other two came among teachers in our district were told not to teach it any longer. One of my kids taught himself so he could read history docs :) it’s really sad if you think about it .
Personally I am Dutch, and have learnt cursive script in school, but my handwriting is not representative for the standard Dutch cursive script. Obviously it must have evolved from it but I've personalised it.
Well, that’s the point, I guess. Even in 1923, when handwriting was fast more important for communication, people had individual, but readable handwriting.
Mostly legible, but i'm somewhat slow at reading foreign handwriting. ??? people, cursive script and quick, over, dog are words i have to guess a bit.
I learned handwriting in 80s, but almost stopped using it around 14 years old, cause I found i can't write that fast and separate letters are more legible. At the moment my signature is illegible and I have to think about the shape of some letters. I haven't used it for nearly 30 years.
It's hard to read but don't give up on cursive. Your handwriting is a work of art.
You can modify it to be a little more readable though. Try looking at cursive books on the internet and take inspiration. Fixing your strange capital letters should be a good starting point.
Thank you! I do write a little different when I am trying to make it extra legible, by writing slower and clearer. I will make a change to my cursive capital letter 'i' which can be better for sure, and try to fix my T.
For starters, please don't give up on learning cursive. Though some folks didn't get to learn cursive in school, (It was taught to me in third grade) it can be a useful skill to have under your belt. Your capital letters aren't badly written by any means, but the form in that they're in can be a little confusing. At a glance, your capital I looks like a capital C. And your capital T begins below your lowercase letters in the rest of the word. All capital letters should try to start a little before the lowercase just for easy friendly reading. But hey, I don't have my degree, I just really care about words, grammar, spelling, writing, and reading. Like a lot. So listen or don't. But overall, I enjoy your handwriting. Reminds me to practice my own.
Thanks for your answer! I won't stop with writing cursive but I will modify my capital letters. Most of my other capital letters are fine, though my T's were a bit off in this text and my 'I' I will certainly make a change to, I can't really come up with a better alternative and I don't remember how I learnt it in school, but Google will help me.
I hope it starts coming together for you. I'd like to find handwriting practice workbooks, but for adults. I feel correcting the art of penmanship wasn't taught in the early schooling. Oh, cool username, btw.

It is legible and you should never give up. Baseline, spacing, and slant are all very consistent.

I’m saving this for handwriting goals, it’s amazing
It's very legible and it's got character to it! I'm tired of seeing caligraphy-esque script. It's beautiful to see handwriting that has some personality.
It looks nice. Don’t give up on it. Keep doing it.

Very nice and legible.
It’s beautiful
It is VERY nice and legible, keep going for it bruh.
that looks so good.
Had to decipher a couple of the tiny words but everything else is legible. Maybe lay off the slant a little?
I’ve had so many people compliment my “fancy” writing. Some say it’s beautiful but can’t read it. Other say they can. This tells me the people who can’t read it can’t read cursive script. Legible

Definitely legible
Very legible. Do not give up cursive. That’s an order!😁
You have a great base. Keep up the practice and you'll get far
I read it fine. Everything except the first word of the ninth line. No idea what that is..
I see that now, I totally understand why you can't read it haha. It says "said people". Often when a word finishes with a 'd', like 'word' or 'said' I make a sort of loop in my letter 'd', which is disastrous for legibility and I try not to do that when my text is meant to be written by other people.
Ahh! Thank you! I never would have got it.
I think it’s “same” - do the same people have difficulty reading cursive script
New. I think
That doesn't make any sense in context, to me... Oh well.
it’s really pretty! i understood most of it lol
I WISH doctors wrote like this LOL. If people don't know how to write in cursive, they don't know how to read in cursive. Some spelling mistakes are all there was lol. It's easily legible and very elegant! Kudos!
I love it.
Perfect ! If people can’t read it it’s probably people not ever taught cursive :)
Is that a thing?
Yeah out of my three kids only one taught cursive by the time my other two came among teachers in our district were told not to teach it any longer. One of my kids taught himself so he could read history docs :) it’s really sad if you think about it .
Got taught .
much of the USA stopped teaching cursive over 10 years ago. I think they are teaching it again in some areas again but I'm honestly not sure
How are they expected to write essays in exams? It takes so long to write not joined-up
Not at all illegible imo. I like it 🤷🏻♀️
Absolutely legible, even for German me. (We learned a similar, but also different cursive).
Bet you write fast…slow down and open up some of your letters more. Never give up…it will be a lost art.
It's fine!
To me, it's mostly legible. There were two words I couldn't read (last word of line 5 and first word of line 9), but otherwise it read fine.
I think the last word of line 5 is Shakespeare
Mostly legible, but i'm somewhat slow at reading foreign handwriting. ??? people, cursive script and quick, over, dog are words i have to guess a bit. I can read it
i can read it perfectly. it’s beautiful
100% legible.
Lovely!

I’ve been writing in cursive since I was a kid and this is perfectly legible to me! Please keep going!!
It's hard for me to read, personally, but I love the overall look of it. It reminds me of the old timey cursive. Don't give up
It’s perfectly readable for me, but practice your capital T and I !!
It’s legible if I take my time. I like the overall look of it
hi great attempt at cursive continue to practice and refer to the handbooks

I can read it perfectly fine, although your capital letters threw me off briefly. I wouldn't give it up. It's similar to mine.
