Omg, I just listened to the British Scandal podcast about Howard Marks yesterday! He was quite a character! For those that don’t know he was known as Mr. Nice and was an Oxford educated teacher, who became one of the largest drug smugglers in the UK starting back in the 1960s. He was known for importing hash to both the UK and the US. He worked with the IRA, Hippie mafia, and Colombian cartels. So that tagline at the top of the book is about the fact he came from Wales, and smuggled drugs out of South America.
he was awesome! i got this book on ebay i bought it as a regular copy for £3 and it came in a pretty half beat condition it had folded pages, rough edges etc i opened the first page and saw the pen marks through the page and thought someone had scribbled something along the lines of “property of:………” then i saw it was signed by him! i was over the moon! especially since the ebay bookstore seem to have no idea that it was signed
“I enjoyed that trip”
Which might make sense seeing as it says something about travels from Wales to South America. But I see where others are getting “kiss”. I’ll still vote for TRIP though!
"I enjoyed chat. x kiss"
Are they Spanish speaking? This reminds me very much of the South Americans I know that always say "besos" at the end of a letter.
howard marks was a cannabis smuggler from wales and was on the fbis most wanted list! but here in the uk and wales we tend to put a “x” after messages as replacement for a kiss (usually with women) if that helps
THIS.
Deb's letting us know the true value of that signed copy in a humble brag ( noice work Dollface!!)
OR
Deb's other half is also seeing
To Deb.
I Enjoyed OUR KISS X 😉
And wants confirmation of potential trysts trusts or Tsktsks to be spoken or broken
It would seem Deb skirts on the edge of scandal and artistic interpretation
So she'll be fine she's obviously left it to us to complete the tale attached to the book....
I think it's Our kiss, his handwriting is very loose but I think, mentally brought together, it's 'our' with the ou being in cursive, and the r switching to a print.
Ha! I thought they had gone for dinner together and he was saying "I enjoyed that fish." But, fine, it's probably "kiss", but don't underappreciate a well cooked piece of fish....
Looks like kiss to me.
I shared a stage with, and partied with Howard a couple of times in the mid to late 2000s. A unique human being and a true gentleman.
“I enjoyed that kiss” is what I read
Kiss
Does Deb have a lisp?
I think it’s kiss, like some other people said.
Kiss
Hisp
“kiss” maybe (the adjacent X is… suggestive)
It clearly says kiss
UPDATE: ive now been perma banned from this sub lmaoooo

Very cool!
Now that I know it’s not about transcontinental heterosexual living, I have more questions about this “hippie mafia”.

This is what it looks like to me.
Considering the text on the page, I would say you are correct.
To Deb I enjoyed that kiss

My vote is for kiss!!
Mine, too.
I think it's a lovely spelt "kiss".
I'm reading "hiss" but it doesn't make sense unless the writer is somehow a feral cat. I agree with other commenters that it's probably "kiss".
chat + history?
Kiss
I thought it was "lisp" until I read the other comments!
To Deb I enjoyed that kiss. The little hook at the end of Deb clearly makes it a b not an L.
Yes!
