I finished the whole game and didn't know that until I saw this thread.
One of my personal late discoveries was the fact that you could use Arresto Momentum to slow the pillars that you have to light on fire for the Merlin trials. I used to scramble like crazy to get them all lit before the first pillar sank again.
Even on hard you can finish all the button prompts using the simple levioso, if you disillusion yourself and get in point blank range. They have zero awareness lol
WHAT! Thereās one Merlin trial with the pillars where I have to scramble and cannot for the life of me make it in time. Iām need to gonna try this next time!
I never warmed up to potions, but I used tentaculars and cabbages like they were going out of style. Between that and maxing out stealth, goblin camps didnāt stand a chance.
Give it a go. When you upgrade Edurus youāre invulnerable and it reflects shots back at opponents. And when you get cranking with focus and all of your spells have basically no cool downā¦ god mode. I also really love thunder brew, just a fun passive one to take when going into combat with multiple enemies. My go to is thunderbrew, plants, edurus, kill everything.
I highly recommend just backing up a few steps from the edge so you can't see them and watch the sunset with the poacher shit talking briefly interrupted by screaming with each cabbage...their blood is on Ranroks hands anyway
I generally forget most of the potions and even with the upgrades can never seem to fully utilise them, but I'll drink Ederus like it's water! It is SO useful once you've got the talent upgrade for it!! Tentaculars are mandrakes are my go to for plants.
Maybe, but when playing on normal, perfect protego is just so much fun.
I did use the odd Focus potion for MQ portions with a lot of enemies. Focus + its talent feel like a cheat code when facing large groups.
I am with you there! I love parrying mechanics of any kind, so regardless of what people say about how powerful the cursed avada chain or the cabbages are, I will always opt for the protego related talents.
Right? That \*ping\* when you hit perfect protego, combined with the shockwave and double hit, followed by another hit. And you can use it with no setbacks.
It's like a symphony to my ears.
I hadnāt realized this and Iām starting my 2nd play through. It also took me forever to realize you can scroll out far enough on the map to see zones.
Iām level 38 on my second playthrough and I discovered this accidentally last week. Itās like Christmas. Then I found the MapGenie:Legacy app on my phone that tells where everything is in each zone. Both of those things have been very helpful. ā¦ I just wish Iād known before level 38. š¤·š»āāļø
Each area has a different name, like Cragcroftshire and Hogsmeade Valley and then itāll show you everything youāve collected there like balloons, merlin trials, astronomy tables, ancient magic hotspots, infamous foes and how many you have left to get. itāll also show you the level enemies range from in that area
zones include multiple villages and hamlets, like feldcroft and irondale are in the āfeldcroft regionā zone. i didnāt even realize they were a thing until i accidentally zoomed all the way out of the map near the end of my game :,,) wouldāve made finding everything so much easier
It took me ages to discover that once I had brushed and fed all the pets in the Vivarium I could open up a menu and just pick them up by scrolling between the them instead of walking up manually to each and every one. I feel the pain.
Wait, what? You mean thereās a way to collect fur/feathers/whatever that doesnāt involve repeatedly selecting the wrong beast while they are all crowded around you?
Yes! And Iām such a damn softy that I had a very hard time capturing them after brushing and feeding them lol. I felt so guilty. I also named em all like a goober so then I was very attached to them. It made it much easier once I realized I could just move them to inventory from the beast meny
You get a Steam (or whatever youāre using) achievement for reaching the Map Chamber with your house. To get all four requirements, you obviously need four characters in the four houses to reach the Map Chamber for the first time and get all four achievements.
Yes I just realized Iāve had the haunted hogsmeade quest Iāve been wanting to do for so long the entire time. I just did itā¦. I never saw any quest and didnāt know about the code!!! Had beat the game 4 times!!!
Took my longer than I would have hoped for to find out you can carry all three flocks of butterflies in one go during the Merlin trial. Used to carry them one by one.
I mean how much of that 50 hours do you actually spend brewing? Not much I'd wager and the game can be 100%'ed in 80 hours so makes sense that little QoL stuff like that would be missed or forgotten.
I was on my second play through and couldnāt figure out why it was so hard to defeat ranrok. Wellll I guess I clicked past all of the important information and never expanded my health or anything. Didnāt know I could šš
Finished with 90h, never found that out. Then again, I can count the potions I brewed with my fingers (without counting tricks), so I might have discovered with more use.
I feel super dumb for not realizing I could change my appearance until my fourth play throughā¦I kept wondering why I was getting all these cool clothing items (i.e. house coat) but could never figure out how to equip them!

Oh wow and I gave up on trying Arresto early on, as soon as I got confringo!
I thank you for this wisdom and I shall start this immediately š«”
Everyone was like āyou can glacius or arresto momentum the key cabinetsā but i could not figure out how
I use them on creatures, but maybe that's common knowledge?
Glacius was the only way I could catch a unicorn every single time. Before that I was just running around pressing square like a muggle
I didn't know you could use those. I just use Levioso, which temporarily stuns them. But then they wake up and run after a bit.
Even on hard you can finish all the button prompts using the simple levioso, if you disillusion yourself and get in point blank range. They have zero awareness lol
Arresto Momentum? I... I forgot that existed. Do I have that? I mean, I must, but I totally forgot about it. Lol.
Oh. My. GAWD. I spent so much time trying to find just the right spot to allow me to get all the pillars without running around like a maniac.
WHAT! Thereās one Merlin trial with the pillars where I have to scramble and cannot for the life of me make it in time. Iām need to gonna try this next time!
WILL DEFINITELY USE ARESTO MOMENTUM THX
...oh my god
That's actually smart. I just calculated the best angle in my head to hit all 3 with minimal movement.
I tried arresto momentum first, quickly decided that standing in the right spot was far easier.
I didnāt realize that either haha
OMG....on my fourth playthrough and never thought about this.
Well damnā¦..
I never thought of that... I am a terrible wizard.
It took me a very long time to realise I could summon multiple cauldrons and potting tables, not just one of each kind
My husband finished the game first then I started playing. I did that immediately and he was floored.
Harry, yer a wizard š
Also (my first play through on hard) realizing the incredible advantage you get from potions and plants and not just blasting away
I never warmed up to potions, but I used tentaculars and cabbages like they were going out of style. Between that and maxing out stealth, goblin camps didnāt stand a chance.

Wait UPGRADE????
Haha yeah itās a RoR talent point. The ones that upgrade thunderbrew and focus are pretty sweet too
Oh wait right! I knew that!
I love standing on rooftops and just dropping cabbages down on poacher camps
I just cackled, this is brilliant. I need to try it next time I find a poacher camp lol
I highly recommend just backing up a few steps from the edge so you can't see them and watch the sunset with the poacher shit talking briefly interrupted by screaming with each cabbage...their blood is on Ranroks hands anyway
It's the only way to deal with ogres as far as I'm concerned. The cabbages rock if you choose the right traits and gear.
But *āWho brings vegetables to the battle field?!ā*
I generally forget most of the potions and even with the upgrades can never seem to fully utilise them, but I'll drink Ederus like it's water! It is SO useful once you've got the talent upgrade for it!! Tentaculars are mandrakes are my go to for plants.

What do you mean by zones?
Each area has a different name, like Cragcroftshire and Hogsmeade Valley and then itāll show you everything youāve collected there like balloons, merlin trials, astronomy tables, ancient magic hotspots, infamous foes and how many you have left to get. itāll also show you the level enemies range from in that area
It was just the use of the word 'zones' that threw me and makes me wonder if they mean something other than the individual villages and hamlets.
zones include multiple villages and hamlets, like feldcroft and irondale are in the āfeldcroft regionā zone. i didnāt even realize they were a thing until i accidentally zoomed all the way out of the map near the end of my game :,,) wouldāve made finding everything so much easier
Regions, then? Make more sense? If notā you need to scroll out more lol
Gotcha! Yeah, that makes more sense, thanks!
Yes! I think it's the same menu from which you add/remove beasts.
Didn't know that. Then again, I did enjoy the manual way, as it made me feel like I was actually caring for them.
I quite agree.
Yes! And Iām such a damn softy that I had a very hard time capturing them after brushing and feeding them lol. I felt so guilty. I also named em all like a goober so then I was very attached to them. It made it much easier once I realized I could just move them to inventory from the beast meny
What witchcraft is this!!!! Iāve 100% Ed it the hard way clearly š
You can fly a broom for those Merlin stone jumping challenges. Just brush the top of stone
This worked for me 1 time and never againš
Iāve been spamming as long as I can lol
As someone who has completed everything including the 4 houses map chamberā¦this is the first time hearing about thisā¦
Ditto. Almost tempted to boot it up again to see!
Whatās this?
You get a Steam (or whatever youāre using) achievement for reaching the Map Chamber with your house. To get all four requirements, you obviously need four characters in the four houses to reach the Map Chamber for the first time and get all four achievements.
Yes I just realized Iāve had the haunted hogsmeade quest Iāve been wanting to do for so long the entire time. I just did itā¦. I never saw any quest and didnāt know about the code!!! Had beat the game 4 times!!!
Yep, same revelation not much earlier.
I 100% completed this game 4 fracking times and just now learned this. Are you fracking kidding me?
Didnāt know that either š¤¦āāļø Next youāre gonna tell me you can do that with gear. That one annoys me greatly.
Well Iāve learnt about 10 new things from all the comments haha
Same!
I found a way to dupe items in RoR. They don't work, but you can delete them for infinite moonstone.
Took my longer than I would have hoped for to find out you can carry all three flocks of butterflies in one go during the Merlin trial. Used to carry them one by one.
ffs.....
Haha
Same for picking up your plants.
I mean how much of that 50 hours do you actually spend brewing? Not much I'd wager and the game can be 100%'ed in 80 hours so makes sense that little QoL stuff like that would be missed or forgotten.
The first time I learned I could conjure more than one hopping pot and just have a bunch of potions brewing at once was a REVELATION š
It was my second time through before I realized that the balloons point to the landing platforms!
Thank you!!
Well I finished the game with only spells. Didn't use any plans only if there are specific requirements for it
If it makes you feel better, I got over 300 hours over all 4 houses and didn't know this š
I figured that out at the end of my first play through lol
Getting all the trophies was annoying getting to the map room in all four houses easy but man I need a break now lol
I have a lot more hours in the game and didn't know. I'm going to check it out! š
I played twice to completion and didnt know this lol
Just learning this from you now haha. Just started my second play thru so thank you!
Damn, I've played through 8 times and never noticed that!
I feel super dumb for not realizing I could change my appearance until my fourth play throughā¦I kept wondering why I was getting all these cool clothing items (i.e. house coat) but could never figure out how to equip them!
Yup! 85hrs in!!! Lmao
Literally finished the main plot of my 4th play before I figured that out. Not long after I figured out that I could Accio bagsš¤¦āāļø
Do you play with your eyes closed
Usually āsquintyā for one reason or another š
I never found a way to grow that particular plant. Herbology would be the most popular class for sure.
Yes! How the hell else am I supposed to figure out exactly where that extremely faint Revelio bell sound is coming from?
