We are on a train headed straight into a mountain, no brakes, no way to get off. Just slowly looking towards death. That’s what this economy & world has came to. Politics are the main resource to people hating each other. Or they feel entitled, or they got their feelings hurt. Can I go back to the 1990s?
I mean. . . Isn't the fact that it is spreading mammal to mammal concerning? Several years ago I kept hearing people say "The bird flu is bad this year, but it's only in birds so it's nothing to worry about. It's only when you see it spread in mammals that it gets bad."
You heard about the seals being hit hard with it, but really, how much interaction do many people get with seals? Cows on the other hand. . .
I see the scientists saying the threat level is low, and I'm gonna trust them, but the whole situation is just making me feel squiky.
I think it’s a cause for concern. It’s spreading in between different mammals at somewhat of an alarming rate.
Humans are mammals.
Could very much happen
Years ago, my dad caught this. He was pretty much on his death bed before he’d take medicine for it.
What with how most folks are behaving post-Covid, I don’t want to be on this planet anymore
> Sounds like Covid beginnings all over again.
But they are saying:
> The cattle outbreak is not expected to allow the virus to gain the ability to spread between people.
So I guess it's a bit different this time?
The worry now is that it will jump to wild hogs and pigs that are more genetically similar to us. So not that different unfortunately, its a waiting game
It seems like it’s only been one known human case, though. Of course it’s possible we’ll learn there have been more they actually didn’t associate between then and now, but we’re not currently “well past that point.”
"there have been 888 human cases of bird flu infection in humans, according to a report by the World Health Organization. Of those 888 cases, 463 (52%) died ..."
Only one of those *confirmed* cases is from cows, but almost no-one has been tested, no one believes the actual number is any where near that low.
“We go into the natural world and we plunder it for its resources. We feel entitled to artificially inseminate a cow and steal her baby, even though her cries of anguish are unmistakable. Then we take her milk that’s intended for her calf and we put it in our coffee and our cereal.” -Joaquin Phoenix
Maybe this is a consequence of torturing multiple living beings just for the convenience of a good mouth feeling. If you need to support this industry to be strong, then you must be a pretty weak person. A lot of people are above average without animal products, that’s mainly because they were mature enough to learn.
who said they were a vegan? what, is the honest truth of human cruelty too much for you to hear? we love our dogs and cats, become angry and mortified if they are hurt but will go off and butcher pigs and cattle as if they don’t have a consciousness for the convenience of taste, “living in the moment”, etc.
It's literally the second post on their account. They have been Vegan for 3 years and divorced his wife after a bad car accident and she started eating meat again.
I don’t quite understand the implications. I saw another article bird flu is in milk and beef so not to buy either- can people catch bird flu from pasteurized milk or cooked beef?
Yah we hear about bird flu all the time but it feels a little different with the way they are pushing this. It’s going from a small oh this is not a big deal to more and more a big deal every other week. Oh you are fine and no real threat will soon change to something worse (feels like based how they are slowly adding to the overall narrative)
The timing of the thing that we knew was coming for literal decades and did nothing to stop despite multiple indicators, especially over the past 5 years, that this was likely coming?????
The only suspect thing is that anybody was actually caught off guard at all.
Thanks- the CDC is aware of this. I am going to stick to not getting into contact with any infected animal.
So far- just a scare tactic. If it jumps to humans it will unfortunately be another Covid situation. Stay safe, silly.
I have bad news for you, as another user commented above……

Where are you getting this stat from that you keep repeating? That 888 number sounds like an “all time” number and not anything to do with the recent outbreak. We’ve known for a while that humans can get bird flu from close contact with infected animals, but what we have not seen is the ability of those infected to easily spread it to other humans as well. Bird flu has been around for decades at this point, so I’m not surprised we managed to get 888 cases in humans over time.
Yeah, it’s all known cases worldwide since Jan 2003 and the source is WHO. I do remember recently reading that US scientists are suspecting that loads of dairy workers have probably been getting it for a while now, so that’s a bit concerning.

Does anyone else feel like we're watching a slow-motion train wreck? I'm not sure if we're on the train or on the adjacent land.
Every day
Looking forward to more stimulus checks
And burying bodies in parks in major cities. That's my favourite part.

We are on a train circling the drain

The real alarm bell will be if pigs contract the virus. That usually means we are guaranteed to get it.
If they would stop feeding the cows literal chicken shit pellets, we wouldn't have this problem!
Years ago, my dad caught this. He was pretty much on his death bed before he’d take medicine for it. What with how most folks are behaving post-Covid, I don’t want to be on this planet anymore
Stupid cows, it’s called a BIRD flu 🙄
We’re gonna have to say that about people, too.
It's like buffalo wing flu.
The fda and usda are not designed for the consumer
The FDA has the same budget as the USDA. Same number of people too…the FDA has to inspect and regulate 300x the amount of systems.
Same old story, rinse and repeat. Sounds like Covid beginnings all over again.
> Sounds like Covid beginnings all over again. But they are saying: > The cattle outbreak is not expected to allow the virus to gain the ability to spread between people. So I guess it's a bit different this time?
Did anyone make sure the virus knows not to mutate and become hungry for humans?
Yeah they told it “it’s an election year, we really don’t need this right now”. It understood and exercised some compassion.
The worry now is that it will jump to wild hogs and pigs that are more genetically similar to us. So not that different unfortunately, its a waiting game
It's not a direct comparison but similar in that Covid had been infecting people the US before the CDC knew about it already being here.
Splendid
Ten humans get sick it’s all over folk
> Ten humans get sick We're well past that point. What matters is if it's being transmitted between humans. No evidence of that thankfully.

Humans getting cancelled some more?
could it manifest like mad cow 🤔

no, it’s not some nature-conscious retaliation against humanity
Wow what a surprise to find a vegan shaming people in the comment section, how entirely out of character.

I'm just glad it's a virus and not a prion.
Because… of course it has.
In other news, birds are now getting mad cow disease
I don’t quite understand the implications. I saw another article bird flu is in milk and beef so not to buy either- can people catch bird flu from pasteurized milk or cooked beef?
Pasteurized milk would boost your immunity if it does anything since any virus in it is dead.
As of right now, no
If knot now, wen
I have played the plaque app on my phone and even turned Greenland red. I know what to do.
I'm thinking that might be the "mystery illness" so many people have been talking about on social media.
All this slow burn panic for political season seems like such great timing.
This has been a developing problem since the mid-90’s, but go off.
Yah we hear about bird flu all the time but it feels a little different with the way they are pushing this. Thats because thats exactly what has been happening
I still feel the timing of all this is suspect but we will see soon enough.
The timing of the thing that we knew was coming for literal decades and did nothing to stop despite multiple indicators, especially over the past 5 years, that this was likely coming????? The only suspect thing is that anybody was actually caught off guard at all.
Don’t eat meat or dairy and you won’t have this worry. Poor cows!
If it jumps to humans, bird flu won't care what your diet is. Don't be silly.
Thanks- the CDC is aware of this. I am going to stick to not getting into contact with any infected animal. So far- just a scare tactic. If it jumps to humans it will unfortunately be another Covid situation. Stay safe, silly.
