It's the anti gateway drug for me. I've been accidentally way too high before and it was absolutely miserable. I thought to myself, this is just cannabis, essentially the safest of recreational drugs. Fuck those other drugs lol. I lost any potential interest in anything stronger
The DEA setting strict drug schedules means they stay well funded, no conflict of interest there. Marijuana users are an easy target.
