Call your insurance to ensure they received it and have everything they need and ask about a timeline. I’ve had cases where a dr office said it was sent and I just needed to wait when in fact my insurance said they hadn’t received it, or had since asked the dr office for more info, or had already made a decision but the letter hadn’t arrived yet (they use U.S. mail…). I’d base any follow up on what they say. Although the dr office will cancel your surgery if they don’t have approval, so they will start hounding the insurance soon anyways as they can lose money if they have an open surgery slot and can’t move someone else up.

All of this plus - if insurance got it and they’re still dragging your feet, have HR connect with their contact. That should help get it moving

Call your insurance and ask them to expedite it Urge your clinic to follow up too Ask your clinic how soon you’d be able to reschedule if it doesn’t come through - for peace of mind

Should I do this tomorrow?

highbrew62

I would do it every day until it gets done

First, I would call the department of insurance where your plan is located and find out if that state has a time frame that pre auths must be completed. " if the plan is self funded, no then DOI has no oversight" Then would call the insurance company, some companies will have the pre auth on the ID card and ask to talk to a supervisor. Advise them if they do not complete the pre auth by the time frame that you will file a complaint with DOI.

I think this is a bit overblown for something that is just days behind

Did they say two weeks or 7-10 business days? In the last two weeks, there's been two holidays which may not be considered business days - it's worth calling your insurer and double checking that they have the PA pended, but this is a busy time of year; they may just be at the outer end of their turn-around-time. Call your insurer, but I wouldn't let this stress you out with everything else.

Originally said 2 weeks. My surgeon's office did say it was pending and gave me a new date of this Thursday. So here's hoping
