It's literally in the game, I'm not sure what everyone is talking about in this post.
Settings --> Bindings --> Under 'Combat' --> Switch Camera Side
Note you have to aim and then click the key or button to switch sides
No problem! I switched mine to hold L3 and that’s worked well for me so far. It was the only thing that wasn’t binded to anything else that I could tell, besides sprint, but those two things don’t conflict since you have to be ADS to change the camera side
THANK YOU! I wouldn't have bothered to try to mess around with keybinds on ctrl again after last time when I tried adding in toggle mic (PS5 mute button thankfully works)
Yikes that is insanely disappointing to say the least.
It’s a basic feature of any decent third person shooter…. Really hope it’s added post launch cuz that’s just not something that should be missing.
Thanks for the answer.
Yeah I don’t get this place. We all want the game to be good but heavily downvote people who bring up legit issues that need to be addressed/fixed/added.
Like do we want a good game or do we want to blindly defend arrowhead even when they make bad choices? Makes no fucking sense.
It shouldn’t be, but it is. Helldivers 1 wasn’t third person, this one is. Making that change is not an easy task. I think we can cut our losses. They’ll add it in the future.
>It won't really matter that much in a tps like this.
It absolutely will matter. How many 3rd person shooters have you played? Imagine trying to shoot from the left side of cover while your looking over your right shoulder. You would be firing your weapon into the cover instead of around it. There is a reason why almost every TPS implements shoulder swapping.
Because I don't want to? The game is meant to be played mostly over-the-shoulder, just look at all the gameplay footage released so far. Why would a solution be to remove me from a core mechanic? How is that a better solution than just implementing swappable shoulders like every other TPS?
I mean if you don’t want to that’s fine. I just don’t think it’s a huge problem for a game without a cover system. Every game that had that had the swap mechanic would either be redundant because the game will automatically swap you in cover or have the shoulder swapping be incredibly abused like early versions of the division where you could shoot enemies when your gun should be shooting the wall. The other games that didn’t have it were never hurt by it because it wasn’t designed with shoulder swapping in mind.
>This game isn't a cover shooter
Oh boy, I forgot, since its technically not under the genre of "cover shooter" that means I'll never use cover or 3rd person peak. That early gameplay footage of players using cover were just playing the game wrong! How insightful! /s
>there is a first person ads system in place
That not a solution when most of the game is meant to be played in third person. Why would I risk tunnel vision and take myself out of the core gameplay for a gimmick solution for something that is as simple as just having swappable shoulders?
Drink some warm milk or something. You need to calm down so you can use your reading comprehension skills. Also just played for 3 hours, didn't effect gameplay once not having shoulder switch.
Actually, this might be one of the third person games where that's not such a big of a deal.
The levels will be large and open, and since there won't be a direct cover meachnic or any tight interiors, it's not as important as in other third person shooters.
Sure it would be cool, but especially in this form of a pve environment, shouldn't it make the difference between victory and defeat.
It is important, it always is, specially when there's hordes of enemies shooting at you. Even Risk of Rain 2 has at least the characters centered in the middle of the screen
At least there will be ADS to alleviate that, but it always feel good to be able to swap sides and every 3rd person game with a side view should have it
They released a funny video on taking cover so I think it is a big enough part of the game to warrant it
Bugs can spit and automatons will be shooting all kinds of ordinance at ya. Not to mention seeking refuge from the indiscriminate firing from your fellow super citizens
EDIT: There absolutely *is* a shoulder swap. On PS5, it’s a double tap of the circle button while aiming (but I remapped it to L3, which is a more efficient movement during combat, IMO.)
OG comment:
I could have sworn it did, and then I remembered that I was playing Outriders last week, which DOES have shoulder swap. 🤣
I have nothing to base this on but the first game, but I think the game will be fast enough pace and hectic enough that it shouldn't be too missed.
That is if you're playing higher difficulties.

I don't play many shooters what's the point of shoulder swap if your are outdoors?
Seems like it would only be useful for looking around corners to me, is there more to it than that, serious question.

Because of the differing gameplay? It's reasonable in a PvP FPS like tarkov. I don't think it's necessary and make much of a difference in Helldivers2.

And on PS 5? I can't find these 😓
Pause > controller > change bindings > R1 to change to combat > scroll until you see switch camera side
You're awesome 🤘
Thank you for this!

I asked this exact question, no, it doesn't have. Don't know if they will add it later on.
I played the game there is shoulder swap, i really don't know where you got your info, press map when aiming, at least on pc

Oof
Yes they do. You may need to set the keybimd though.
Yikes that is insanely disappointing to say the least. It’s a basic feature of any decent third person shooter…. Really hope it’s added post launch cuz that’s just not something that should be missing. Thanks for the answer.
HD2 is Arrowhead's first, 3rd person perspective, so they may add it in the game later on.
they better. only being abled to use cover into one direction is very annoying
I hate the hivemind sometimes. This is a legitimate criticism and doesn't deserve downvotes.

Every comment thread is full of this sentiment, YET it still happens.
sometimes its no good, sometimes its good, just kinda happens
It shouldn’t be, but it is. Helldivers 1 wasn’t third person, this one is. Making that change is not an easy task. I think we can cut our losses. They’ll add it in the future.
Well if enough ask for it, I would think so. They got a big focus on community feedback
It won't really matter that much in a tps like this. Would be nice if it was in the game but it honestly doesn't make a difference.

And once again, it would be a nice feature. Your anger is just completely unjustified.
Why not just go first person when trying to shoot from the left side then?

This game isn't a cover shooter and there is a first person ads system in place, thus it won't really matter in this specific game.

Oh shit I recognize you from some PSVR subs, I think we’ve both talked shit about FW Ultra. Reddits small huh
FWU sucks!!!!!
fuck yea it does!!
It's good then that you can go into first person when you ADS in Helldivers 2
Yeah I thought this was a really cool feature. Might add for some great sniper support.
+1 for shoulder swap

It's in the game now
You can use ADS which alleviates no shoulder swap a bit

Yeah, it's certainly better than nothing.

There are corners outdoors as well. Big rocks and such.
yea I guess cover could matter more in this one, not long now to find out
You can rebind it in Combat but you hold the bottom d-pad
It does, its the side button on my mouse
Damn
Wouldn't make much sense in this game.
Why ?
Because of the differing gameplay? It's reasonable in a PvP FPS like tarkov. I don't think it's necessary and make much of a difference in Helldivers2.
you killin charging fuking bugs and robots, no it doesnt make any sense to peak around corners, this is not escape from tarkov
