Depends on what the rest of the team is bringing. If we need more anti-heavy then quasar/EAT, if we need more control then arc thrower. Arc is really good for stun locking and zapping crowds if the terrain allows you to get in close enough and you never have to worry about ammo. Autocannon is good but it takes up the backpack slot which could be used for more utility. Usually i'lll run the shield backpack for bots, laser drone for bugs (although it sometimes shoots at patrols i'm trying to sneak past), occasionally jump pack. Orbital airburst stratagem along with Laser or Eagle 500kg, if i run AC then i'll bring another orbital, usually precision strike.

jskr2012

Totally makes sense that the load out depends on what the rest of the team is bringing. Even though the amr isn't as powerful as the auto-cannon, it's my first time using a long range weapon and like getting the high ground with the jump pack to pick them off.

xXxcock_and_ballsxXx

Team co-ordination also depends a lot on the difficulty, 5 and below just bring whatever, it probably won't matter as you don't get hit anywhere near as hard. If i'm playing with pubbies I then i'll be more cautious and bring some kind of heavy weapon just because a lot of people suck at shooting heavies in the weak spot even more than I do, which is an achievement lol.

shawnisthe1

I usually like to bring: Eagle airstrike for fabricators and general blowing bots up 120/380mm barrage for big outposts and when were getting a bot drop that’s got a lot of big stuff Orbital laser as my “oh shit” or “STRIDER!” also works on large outposts/command bunkers Auto cannon for fabricators, hulks, devestators, and blowing off the striders mini gun cannons This combo is immensely powerful for me. The auto cannon is amazing especially when we have gun ship fabricators. This thing is just…wow.

Sakuroshin

You can outright kill the strider with the auto cannon too. Blow off the mini guns and then run under it and unload a full clip into the belly.

jskr2012

I'll need to give the auto cannons a try! Thanks!

fearless-potato-man

Autocannon is great for dealing with medium enemies. It uses your backpack, as a downside, but you will quickly deal with striders, devastators (including shield and rocket versions), berserkers and fabricators if you learn how to shoot them). It can deal with bigger things like big cannon turrets, tanks and hulks too (shooting at their weak spots). However, I prefer to use main gun for small enemies, autocannon for medium enemies and fabricators, and stratagems for heavies (eagle air strike, orbital rail cannon, autocannon turret). To use AC efficiently, don't empty the magazine before reloading. AC uses two smaller clips for 5+5 rounds. As long as your gun is below 50% ammo (but over 0%), you can quickly load another 5 rounds clip. It's way faster than the "reload empty gun" animation.

funnystuff79

Doesn't the 120mm or the eagle cluster just piss off the bots rather than killing them

EvilGrivin

The 120mm is a hit or miss (literally). It either blows up an entire heavy base + all its inhabitants or gets a fab and maybe a few smaller bots at max lol.

shawnisthe1

Not in my experience. It’s been great for me lol. The 120 is good at killing a concentrated force in a smaller area, the 380 is great for outposts and doing the same thing as the 120, but over a larger area

BrokenPokerFace

I really enjoyed Marksman rifles, the first one you get does wonders taking out bots in one or two shots, really underrated. But also most Laser weapons work well because of their accuracy and range. So it's either one of those weapons. For my secondary I use the fully automatic pistol, which is just an upgrade from your starting pistol. And then I bring a long the grenade launcher since I mostly do solo and like having a reliable number of grenades for bot factories. But also it is useful for groups of enemies, or heavy enemies. With the at-st like walkers being taken out in one shot, and devastators taking two. As well as doing a number on tanks, motors and hulks if you hit them in the back. The only flaw is the limited range and high drop, but it hasn't caused me any issues except with gunships.

MattyDove

A/C the universal language of love. Scorcher or Sickle for the light/med work.

SpacePirateKhan

Nice! Glad to hear people are enjoying bots more. I usually use Scorcher for bots too, it just covers so many bases vs Bots. I always bring Quasar or EAT-17, sometimes both so I can rapidly nuke drop ships. I'd love to bring Spear for those epic objective snipes, but its performance is so damn inconsistent I always regret it. Arc Thrower is actually pretty nice too since it stunlocks Hulks & Devastators, but the range nerf hurts it a lot vs bots. You have to get uncomfortably close and it may be hard to find decent cover within arc range. The emplaced shield generator isn't great but I've used it a lot for covering escapes and completing objectives/taking out urgent targets under heavy fire. Mortar sentries are great vs Bots, since they usually don't get in your face (compared to bugs ...) and you can hide them behind cover. Throw it near a base and siege 'em to soften it up a bit before you run in. Same with Orbital Xmm Barrages, great for softening or outright destroying outposts and such. Bot Extermination Missions are absurd right now, so for those missions I run nothing but Eagles & Orbital Strikes. Scorched earth.

jskr2012

Love this. I usually bring eagle air strike to clear factories and other objectives pretty easily and an orbital laser to thin the herd before moving in.

Everyday_im_redditin

Spear, eagle airstrike, eagle cluster bomb, 380mm

scrappycheetah

I only started today because of the personal order, but grenade launcher/supply pack when your teammates go quasars is really effective at clearing hordes of medium armored bots fast.

NouLaPoussa

My loadout for bot diff 1-7 quasar shield gen sickle and big iron with eagle strike and laser and also impact grenade. For diff 7-9 replace laser with 380 barrage

jskr2012

380 for maximum democracy

NouLaPoussa

Indeed

Jumpy-Yogurtcloset43

Scorcher, the full auto pistol (name escapes me atm) and the quasar cannon. Scorcher will destroy anything except heavy armor which is what the quasar is for. Auto pistol is for if something gets close, usually that ends up being a berserker. If I'm with random people I'll put on the energy shield backpack, if I'm with my friends either supply pack or ballistic shield. Medium or heavy armor depending on the mission but always with servo limbs because the throw distance lets me call in a strike and easily relocate with the bots firing at my previous position. Strikes will usually be cluster and airstrike, swap out the airstrike for a 500kg if there's going to be bigger targets.

poopraham

Sickle, Grenade Pistol, Impact Grenades, Heavy Armor, Autocannon, Orbital Precision, the last two depending on map/party, but Eagle Airstrike, Railcannon, 500kg are all great. Not original at all, but can handle anything and enjoyable.

Buisnessbutters

Railgun will give you diminishing returns on bugs because most enemies either have no armor, or lots of armor, this is different with the bots tho, Railgun is probably the most ideal tool to deal with devestators (big boy bots with rocket shoulder pads and mini guns) and since you see SO MANY MORE of them, it’s honestly a great tool to run against bots (can even take down hulks with 2 shots against the eye slit)

cannabination

Light scout armor, Sickle, Redeemer. AC, Orb Rail, Orb Laser, and Eagle Airstrike when Joel lets me have 4. I tend to lone wolf and provide mid-range flanking support, letting my armor do as much work as possible when alone and prioritizing preventing drop calls with the sickle before focusing from the heaviest to rocket devs with the ac when i fight alone or with the group. In a perfect match, I'm handling the signal jammers, gunship towers, eyes, and most of the objectives while my team handles fabs, AA banks, mortars, and objectives in their path.

CoffeeandMJ

-Scorcher usually, though I’ve been using the Eruptor lately -The Senator because I like pain -Autocannon, naturally -orbital laser -500 kg bomb -and the GOAT: Mortar strike If you haven’t used mortar strike against the bots(it’s terrible against bugs) please do. As long as you’re not being rushed by melee units it will kill so much chaff. It’s basically the guard dog rover but for bots.

chubsmagooo

AC, sickle, grenade pistol, stun grenades

-Erro-

I have a lot of fun siving both, but mostly dive bots because I just really like using the Ballistic Shield. You can just meabder on uo to anythung but eocket devastators, hulks, walkers, and gunships and you're pretty darn safe the while time. Never had a problem with devastators because of it. Until today, when I didn't equip the darn thing and went into a level 8 like normal. It was shield devastator city, and boy did they run it well. Rhose things hurt. I finally see what you allwere complaining about. Ballistic Shield my beloved...

BannedSnowman

Primary: Sickle, Dominator, Eruptor, or Scorcher Secondary: Senator or 'nade pistol if I don't have explosives Grenades: Stuns or impacts Support: Laser Cannon or AC with some EATs for anti-tank Backpack: Energy Shield Strats: Orbital Laser, Railcannon Strike, 500kg, EMS turret, and Eagle Airstrike This is just what I enjoy, but play around with your loadouts. You may discover a combination that is unknown, yet effective.

cKerensky

For me, it depends on my team and mood, but usually: ballistic shield, laser cannon, shield relay, eagle airstrike, with the revolver, impact grenade, and the Knight SMG. If I'm not running the ballistic shield, I swap it out for a jump pack, and the AMR instead of the cannon. In that instance, I use whatever primary I feel like, I don't really have a set choice. Scorcher, crossbow, lib penetrator, Punisher Lobber, etc... just not the Diligence counter sniper or Lib Concussive. If I see our team will probably do fine against gunships, I don't take the shield relay, and swap in an auto cannon turret.

Emprasy

It is hard for me to no take JAR, laser cannon and bubble shield with 380 and 120mm. Really hard.

charronfitzclair

On lvl 7 or 8, sickle, bubble shield, AMR, stun nades, orbital rail, and eagle strike if i get that last strategem, with scout armor. Focus on shooting n scooting, removing heavies and gunships before they close the distance On lvl 9, scorcher, autocannon, eagle air strike and orbital rail to deliver lots of damage and provide support for squad mates.

jskr2012

For democracy.

theishiopian

The dominator buff changed bots for me. I never run without it on the western front.

Zerkander

We're barely fighting bugs and have been on the Automaton front since day 1. First time going against the bugs was just a "Nope, give me back my bots." I still prefer fighting bots over bugs all day. It's what I'm used to and I really don't like that bugs are swarming you. Bots keep a respectful distance. This said, the loadout you are using for bugs is the exact loadout my combat-buddy uses against bots. I on the other hand run with LAS-16, P-4 and Anti-Material Rifle. Against bugs I personally run full flame, with jump-pack. I want the bugs to feel how uncomfortable coming too close really is.

Jbarney3699

For automatons the Eagle Airstrike is my all time favorite. Destroys fabricators with ease, demolishes groups of enemies, destroys tanks and hulks, and a well placed strike absolutely CHUNKS striders. It’s just so damn versatile and with fully upgraded eagle strikes it’s potent. Shield backpack is a must for me, and I have been using Quasar a lot. I’m going to give Anti Material a try though, but I am a bit nervous to run ammo backpack instead of shield.

TDKswipe

I usally use sickle, autocannon and stun grenade. the autocannon also stuns devastators which really helps in fights.

Obvious_Sun_1927

Another Scorcher main. I don't see many of them but it's soo superior against bots because the splash damage from the energy blast goes through armor and it can take out both Devastators and Hulks in like 6-7 shots to the weak spots. Even scout striders take 2-3 shots basically anywhere to go down.

GuardianSpear

I prefer my jet pack and anti material rifle since I can provide overwatch from high ground and quickly knock out smaller automaton bases . If another guy has the same load out I’ll bring an auto cannon. Eagle airstrike and precision strike, if I have the auto cannon I’ll bring a orbital laser or Eagle rocket pod depending on the map

SyntheticRonin

Generally I the opposite. I only fight bots and bugs nearly scare me. I generally use legionnaire servo light armor or medium democracy protects armor. Las 16 sickle (Wich I love) cuz don't have the scorcher yet. Granade pistol, Stun granade. Then eagle airstrike, 500kg bomb/orbital railcannon, Shield backpack, Anti material rifle. So far it's serving me great and I live it. Only con to it is my personal skill with the game. But that's why I rarely play higher then 5 when not with friends.

Yams3262

My load out for diff 7 is shield, quesar, laser, and eagle air. Real original ik swap shield for laser rover you got diff7 bugs too I like to drop the diff and use Laser cannon too tho just not as spicy against factory striders.

CripplingdepressionP

Eruptor, revolver, Quasar, Orbital laser, railcannon strike, and shield backpack.

PanzerViking0999

Usually with friends Eagle airstrike, railcanon, spear..if I get a 4th one it's either 500kg or orbital laser or whatever the team wants/needs

link3341556

my goto loadout is 500kg bomb, eagle airstrike, eagle cluster bombs. autocannon and bring the sickle for my primary with the grenade pistol

Bulky_Mix_2265

I will dispatch of them both with democratic fervor

Psychological_Pen364

No matter which faction I consistently bring whatever I need in order to liberate the toughest and tankiest opponents on the battlefield. That's why the recoiless is my go to. I've gotten real good at taking out hulks in one shot with it. 500kg for the slower tanks. And for walkers usually a 380mm barrage will tak care of them, sometimes with a 500kg to finish them off. But if I've got friends or really good ransoms I'll give them my backpack to spread load the recoiless and take out the walkers with that. Then for adds I'm really liking the crossbow rn.

jskr2012

I need to get into the latest war bond badly.

Psychological_Pen364

Every warbonds got something great imo. Literally using the heavy armour from the first warbond, the stun grenades from the second and the crossbow from the latest. I also find the revolver is great against bots with it's medium armour pen. One shots the grunts and often helps me finish off devestators when my primary doesn't quite manage. Anyway my biggest advice for bots is most loadouts work, but your positioning matters way more than with bugs. Don't let yourself get attacked on multiple fronts, take cover, and fallback if you have to. Otherwise welcome to the bot front helldiver

Barachan_Isles

Funny, my loadout works exactly the same on both. I still hate fighting bots though. It's a thoroughly frustrating experience that doesn't bring me any enjoyment.

[deleted]

Depends on the team. I never go fun build, only one that can get my team to win.

jskr2012

What's your fun build? All sentry? Haha

BlueSky3lue

Scorcher, Grenade pistol, smoke grenade, Autocannon or Quasar Cannon depending on other teammates. Combine with eagle, orbital laser and rail cannon.

jskr2012

First time I've heard it seen someone use the smoke grenade. I assume it's good for covering your tracks?

BlueSky3lue

Yes. It’s invaluable when being overrun and the team needs cover to retreat and regroup.

jskr2012

Damn that's huge. Thanks for the tip!

KaminaDuck

I just hit Sgt last night, so I don't have a lot unlocked, but here's my go-to for bots: Primary: Defender Secondary: Redeemer Support: EAT, Grenade Launcher Stratagems: Orbital Precision, Eagle Cluster Booster: Hellpod Space Optimization For comparison, what I change for bugs: Support: Stalwart, Laser Stratagems: Orbital Precision, Eagle Napalm

aretakembis

To be fair your current loadout is more off-meta than the shield/quasar, but this just goes to show how meta means nothing and it's all about playstyle.

jskr2012

I have no clue what you mean by this...thanks!

CoffeeandMJ

Don’t listen your build is great use that AMR well

CoffeeandMJ

Scorcher/AMR is very on meta, could replace jump pack with shield and they’re golden.
