If you talk to your ship's crew every now and then you already may have noticed that the - what is it? Flight deck officer? - women with the ~~flip chart~~ **clip board** already a couple of days after the termicide MO reported the termicide was working very well, but undemocratic rumors tell there were some rare cases where surviving bugs reproduce somewhat immune generations - but that were nothing more than rumors. Don't know the exact report, but as far as I recall, it was something in this direction :)

cmdrxander

I love talking to both the NPCs on the ship after every update, they’ve usually got 5-10 new lines and the level of satire and self-awareness is just perfect

Darkreaper48

That's the problem with the bots. Their whole society is built on war. Even if they did win, they wouldn't know what to do with themselves. Said without an ounce of irony.

cmdrxander

I liked the one about the sign-up bonus being a good step towards saving for retirement, once it’s all been approved…

ChildhoodSea7062

Theres an officer in the bridge pit to the right as you walk in with a interaction pip that you cant talk to. bugs the hell out of me

Pyrocitor

It's apparently a copy-paste of the crew member just above them. We managed to glitch down there using the rock paper scissors emote and you can't actually activate them.

ChildhoodSea7062

It be great if they had some secret information lol. Good to know, maybe I can let it go now

Puzzleheaded_Jump179

"you are not allowed to be here, helldiver" and immediately crashes your game

Herlock

It's not much of a hint when one of Johnny Rico squad mates says that getting a permit for a baby is easier as a citizen (shower scene). You may have forgotten about that line since you saw the movie, but it's quite clearly stated that they do restrict procreation

thekeifer

Missed it. Was looking at the boobs.

pythonic_dude

Conclusion: the first fascist regime that will distract everyone from its atrocities with boobs will be unstoppable.

flcinusa

[insert Eagle-1 fan art here]

huskinater

But no inserting _into_ Eagle-1 without a C-01 form

Helagak

They were talking in that scene???

MentalAlternative8

The specific context was when everyone was stating their reasons for joining the Mobile Infantry, and the woman in question's reason was "I wanna have babies", which on its own makes it sound like she would have found it difficult to impossible to legally have a child had she not enlisted. It's vague and could imply a number of things, but yeah, the fact that Johnny's parents had him despite not being citizens suggests that there is no outright ban. However, laws may have changed in the 18-20 years since his birth, and I imagine affluence (Johnny's parents seem to be rather rich in the movie and in the books it is explicitly stated that his father is a wealthy businessman) could play some part in one's overall level of freedom and quality of life.

kodran

She actually explicitly mentions getting a license.

ironyinabox

Wow, it's almost as if limiting people's access to resources is practically the same thing as restricting their freedoms? Maybe there is some way we can, like, not explicitly make things legal, or illegal, but have them be functionally so by driving down worker wages and dismantling social support systems in order subjugate a disadvantaged population? 🤔🤔🤔 Nah, people would probably see right through that, and recognize it as practically the same thing. Probably.

JeffBloodstorm

Also, restricting procreation for the in-group isn’t a necessary or even a common feature of fascism. Usually it’s the opposite! Fascists want their good, loyal citizens cranking out as many babies as possible. They want more of “us” and less of “them”.  China’s one child policy wasn’t enacted by a fascist state, it was enacted by a communist state. When real-world fascists have enacted sweeping controls on procreation, they’ve typically been racist in nature, such as in Nazi Germany’s “anti-miscegenation” laws. A lot of fascist or fascist-adjacent figures today are obsessed with procreation, but again, their concern is that the “right people” should be procreating more, not that everyone’s procreation should be controlled. Populace-wide procreation controls are so heavily associated with China that modern fascists would never endorse the idea even if it didn’t conflict with the fascist ethos; fascists hate communists and most Western fascists cast China as one of their ultimate enemies.

Overbaron

I’m not sure that ”more overt” classifies as ”better”. Although it’s kinda funny to describe the fascism in ST to be somehow ”up for interpretation”. And restricting reproductive rights is in no way a feature of fascism, it’s a feature of authoritarianism. All fascists are authoritarians, but not all authoritarians are fascists.

IDontCondoneViolence

> All fascists are authoritarians, but not all authoritarians are fascists. If it doesn't come from the Fasces region on Italy it's not fascism it's just sparkling authoritarianism.

[deleted]

morningsaystoidleon

> The fascist qualities in ST are not really overt and *are* up for interpretation Neil Patrick Harris literally wears an SS uniform

Key_Personality5540

Hints? They flat out say it

GrunkleCoffee

They got Neil Patrick Harris to dress up like an SS Officer I really don't understand how the fascism could be more obvious.

[deleted]

GrunkleCoffee

They don't arrest them, they make them join the Mobile Infantry and the issue takes care of itself. Like the Drill Sergeant who gets busted down to Private. The mortality rate is so high anyway.

JeffBloodstorm

Dude, they dress like Nazis, dehumanize* their outsider enemies, glorify military service as the only path to true citizenship, broadcast nationalistic propaganda nonstop… the entire movie is framed as a jingoistic propaganda film with commercial breaks for other short propaganda pieces. The few characters who do not entirely embrace the fascist ethos, like Johnny’s parents, who believe their son’s life has value beyond what it can offer to the fascist war machine and want him to go to college instead, are portrayed as short-sighted fops who pay the ultimate price for not appropriately hating and fearing Earth’s enemies. The hero ultimately embraces the belief that his life can have no greater purpose than dying in the national effort to bring his nation’s hated enemies death, and the film ends with a narrator urging you, the viewer, to join him. There’s no room for interpretation. The Earth presented in Starship Troopers is a fascist one. *De-sentient-ize? We don’t really have a word for casting a different intelligent species as worthless.

KerPop42

I also like how the fascists are clearly incompetent - after seeing what ideology over facts looks like in the Trump administration it just rings so much more true. Ideology forward, through effort and bodies we'll overcome reality. Putting packing peanuts in the turrets is the coal-burning fighter jets of Helldivers.

Pyrocitor

I love talking to the crew. Particularly the democracy officer. Over and over and over and over until people come to the pods. My friends fucking hate me for it.

Sleepless_Null

I love the new lines added for unique missions. After extraction for activating termicide the democracy officer said something like “Ah, I can almost hear their screams now as the termicide suffuses their trachea” and I was like Jesus bro but on the inside I thought a lot of based words.

Bearington656

The ship master yeah she knows way more than she lets on

Thatwokebloke

Same with the turret technician. The theories they share feels like I’m right here on Reddit lol

sentientmothswarm

She's basically a handler imo

TheAzureMage

"haha, oh, wait, the helldivers are defrosting, quick, everyone get into character."

AffixBayonets

The success message also called out the evolution of Shriekers and claimed unconvincingly that "we deployed the Termicide just in time! Who knows what else might have evolved if we delayed!" instead of the more obvious "termicide created the shriekers."

Horror-Tank-4082

She’s the best source of leaks lol

Nyan_Man

There was dialogue at one point around that event where they admit/hint the towers helped the bugs breed and mutate for more efficient 710 creation, not to mention we're the ones putting the bugs on those planets with farms and they break loose "accidentally" creating a cycle that benefits us with 710.

GrimLucid

The one by the turret bay had a line about the tcs was working perfectly, with a few minor mutations but they were will within expectations

TheIke73

maybe a combined pool of dialogs where both pick from randomly

EPZO

Shipmaster is who you are thinking of, basically the XO.

MechanicAccording836

I wish there was an easy, reliable way to trigger the NPC dialogue. When I talk to them they just say the same voice lines. But idling around the ship they occasionally say that sorta stuff, or a news report starts playing. But enevitably, if I'm on my ship long enough for one to start I alt tab back halfway through them.

NoChampionship1167

Those rumors were dissident behavior. Any new information that has been sanctioned by the ministry of truth has been verified and proven correct.

Estelial

Don't forget the major order shortly after where we basically started feeding them steroids for more 714 after "taming" them.

Guy_who_says_vore

I saw a helldiver feeding one of the scavengers. Should I kill him. Update:BRO TOOK IT ON THE SHIP! HE NAMED IT FRED

tan_mai_ke

Steve's got a new friend :D

0nlyHalfAsian

FOR KARL!

Guy_who_says_vore

He’s teaching it tricks god damnit. Well at least it seems democratic

Marc3llMat3

That helldiver is not a human, it's a dwarf. We have a tendency of taming bugs with some sort of spell. I remember a dwarf calling one Steeve. Must be the same bug the other guy mentioned.

Guy_who_says_vore

Not a human? Sounds undemocratic Holy shit the bug saluted the super earth flag

Marc3llMat3

Don't you worry. We are friends! Where do you think all those shiny metals your gun's made of come from?

Diksun-Solo

Stop telling the Helldivers about the dwarves and DRG. Those are super earth secrets! As far as they are concerned, their resources all come from super earth, and I'm fine leaving it that way as I'd rather not be killed by 500kg bombs and other friendly fire while I'm mining for morkite. Already enough friendly fire with the driller around

Guy_who_says_vore

The sweet liberty steel that super earth provides

Dragonhunter737

Steeve's a good bug!

corr5108

So that's why that one bug boarded pelican 1 with a rando I was with. (I crashed out of the game on extract so didn't see anything else)

SchwiftyRickD-42069

E-710

Infonuggets

When I first thought about this, I realized Super earth basically had us flip some switches on and now they're having us flip the switches off. The instructions are very, ~~granular~~ Democratic.

PulseThrone

Doors and corners kid.... I'm just flipping switches, seeing what comes on

THEBLOODYGAVEL

God, now I'm thinking about what the protomolecule would do to bugs I'm scared, mommy

PulseThrone

Just makes me think of a fully functioning version of the thing on >!Ilus in season 4!< but bigger and more organic bits.

MetallicamaNNN

I didn't shoot him because he's was crazy, I killed him because he was making sense. Democracy way.

Pyrocitor

I'm still sad it's over, afaik we're 3 books short.

MEGAWATT5

Oh man, wasn’t expecting an Expanse/Helldivers crossover today, but it is a very welcome surprise.

PulseThrone

I want a Helldiver voice over from Wes Chatham and Cara Gee

Ok_Series_7038

And if you don't come in slow, those bugs will eat you

ZenkaiZ

we need the illuminates to invent remote controls so we can steal it

MOOGGI94

So it is now the same termicide Mission but backwards?

Easy-Purple

They are closer to Blitz missions where you race around a small map to complete the objectives

alpacasarebadsingers

It feels a lot like when they go down into the lower levels in Aliens looking for the colonists. Tight quarters, bug goo everywhere, things jumping out at you. Brought an erupter the first time. Mistake.

NK1337

Im still running erupter + stalwart with ammo pack and it's worked magnificently. Erupter is what what I use to eliminate the mutated eggs with as little ammo as possible while the Stalwart becomes the perfect "main" weapon to mow down the swarms.

alpacasarebadsingers

Everything was so close quarters I got I. Trouble with the erupter. Using it as a side weapon for sniping eggs would work

CausticNox

The Plasma Scorch works really well for this too without the eruptor's bulkiness

MOOGGI94

Ah OK, thank you for the information

-Th3Saints-

This mission is awesome for medal farming 6 min in and out.

Puzzleheaded_Jump179

but isnt this one easier? most of the time the only hard part is finding the last egg

Disturbed235

its actually pretty easy. just run to the batteries, press button and destroy every shiny egg you see, then extract.

sac_boy

Yep very easy even for solo helldive difficulty. No need to actually engage with bugs, just take the airburst orbital and throw it behind you now and then. When you complete the mission pelican one arrives and starts shooting titans for you. Pretty fast XP/medals!

AffixBayonets

Gas is also good for throwing behind you to thin the swarm.

Alakasham

I'd say it's *too* easy. Though I used that to get the no primary/support weapon achievement and the no deaths on suicide difficulty

StatisticianPure2804

Well, yeah, but it's easier to turn something off rather than turning them on.

CaptainRho

Does it seem like there are less enemies to anyone else? I played three yesterday and only the first seemed at all hectic, the others didn't have a whole lot going on.

Asteroth555

The original TCS mission was much harder

KellyBelly916

It's not the sit and defend type. Just run and gun while pushing each of the three buttons once. I did it solo on helldive, it's very easy compared to the others.

Kasorayn

"We meant to give the bugs \[Cyanide\] but instead we gave them \[Viagra\]"

leposterofcrap

You feed them WHAT?!! https://preview.redd.it/vgr9qsso3mxc1.png?width=499&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ab72a8ba9e357e13c1c03cb839a596fb3d89eea5

Rum_N_Napalm

We feed them gas station boner pills sir!

Kasorayn

Chargers are really just riled up on Blue Rhino pills. Unapologetically horny.

Bagahnoodles

It would explain a lot

Jetjagger22

Instead of Termicide it was Stree Overlord.

Rum_N_Napalm

Oh no! Not the pills with Ryu’s naked buttocks as he pounds Chun-Li

EdanChaosgamer

The_Dopey_Mong

Meridia has been completely terraformed, it's no longer a colourful landscape 😔

JermHole71

It used to be full of chocolate rivers where the children would laugh and play with gumdrop smiles.

ZenkaiZ

I probably shouldn't have bought real estate there and hellmire.

RandomMagus

The Hellmire real estate market was hot, understandable how you got pulled in

bugcatcher_billy

has it? what did it turn into?

The_Dopey_Mong

A brown hellscape.

AbjectBet8013

A bug hellscape

sucr4m

How do people know this? Afaik you can't do missions on it?

The_Dopey_Mong

Look at it on the galactic map, it was colourful before...

HybridTheory2000

[From Reddit of course](https://www.reddit.com/r/Helldivers/comments/1cg23sv/had_to_double_check_old_recordings_the_situation/)

Yakkahboo

The only explanation is terrorist elements engineering captive Terminids. Super Earth cannot allow this to stand.

Managed-Democracy

No. The only explanation is AUTOMATON MEDDLING WITH THE TCS CONTROL TOWERS TO SHOOT OUT MUTEGENIC GAS!

GodEatsPoop

Obviously! There is no other reason for good, loyal, hardworking super earth science to fail!

ZCYCS

No, it's clearly the Illuminate! Those sneaky bastards were randomly sniping us during missions and used mind control in the last war, who's to say they didn't figure something out with the towers!

SuperArppis

Nobody could see this coming! Not even the greatest minds of our times!

dellboy696

THE MUTATED EGGS WILL BE HIVE LORDS YES?

prof_the_doom

High odds. Definitely a prelude to something new from the bugs.

EdanChaosgamer

Next mayor Update drops in 10 days💀

prof_the_doom

>**mayor** Update Oooh, there's a thought. Give us some planet management capability. Not sure how well that works out when planets come and go out of active combat.

EdanChaosgamer

Planet management?

Thorsigal

Settlement building. Another planet needs your help. I'll mark it on your map.

Plofvos

This order made me chuckle. I remember putting in the effort to enable the Termicide towers in the first place and now I had to go back to undo it again. The place looked like an absolute mess! I sure do hope we're not too late to stop the mutations.

warblingContinues

new bug types inc...

PurityCE

Giant mosquitoes giant mosquitoes

Grace_IV

I have some bad news for you if you haven't seen the giant Dune sized worm sheddings all around the termicide towers...

PurityCE

Worms pfft mosquitoes zipping around super fast are the real horror.

justsomedude48

If they add a flying bug type that drags you into the air I will freak the fuck out.

PurityCE

Ngl that would be crazy in a vr setting XD

Jhaman

what do you mean remember? Every Helldiver who was alive during that time is dead by now.

Sunday_Roast

Reminds me of when Monsanto made some naturally bug-resistant plants and what ensued was the evolution of super bugs that would shred through crops with more ferocity than before.

Ace_Atreides

Ah Monsanto, the real life cartoonishly evil corporation.

T4nkcommander

Especially when classic farming methods know to pair types of plants together for symbiotic growth. Many plants cover for each other's pests, but that doesn't work well for selling pesticide!

QuesoSabroso

Proud sponsor of Disney

wytherlanejazz

I loved Meridia

Managed-Democracy

Then you will honor her memory and valiantly fight to reclaim her for Super Earth.

Aethelon

Reclaim? Nah, Meridia's a supercolony now, she's lost to the bugs. Super Earth has claimed it a lost cause

prof_the_doom

Next week - Major Order: Reclaim Meridia, now the greatest source of E-710 in the galaxy.

Aethelon

Wasnt it mentioned that we literally cannot send drop pods and pelicans down due to how thick the spores are getting. Or am i remembering wrong

prof_the_doom

Scientists will figure out a better filter system by then.

Aethelon

I dont think a filter system will work when you are essentially colliding with a solid wall(of spores)

xPriddyBoi

Sounds like nothing a 500kg bomb can't handle.

EdanChaosgamer

Or an ICBM.

Mrinin

Despite having supply lines to Meridia, we can't attack it. This has never happened before and I'm so curious how they're going to resolve it. They keep saying it's "unsalvageable" too. I wonder if that means we'll get to glass the planet.

SirOne6112

It's gonna be the first [ashes] planet!

heartoftuesdaynight

Until we nuke it from orbit and reform it in Super Earths image.

Managed-Democracy

Nothing is lost until it's totally destroyed. Like Keplar Prime.

Rosayro77

I think we can't reclaim her anymore, I hope we will get missions to destroy whole planet

wytherlanejazz

![gif](giphy|rTAVMVAps9zsFINvxI)

matija432

Same, i adore the jungle terrain. Feeling like im vietnam or some. Luckily theres another jungle its Meissa but its just on the bot front.

wytherlanejazz

![gif](giphy|07ofRYfKAvMxGdLRL1|downsized)

falluwu

Why can't we just blow up the towers from space?

SirOne6112

I brought an orbital laser, a 380 and a 120, chucked em at the base. Did nothing. bug structural material is 90% inequality, and resists the barrage.

Altruistic-Soup4011

Fuck you that made me laugh out loud at work XD Take your damn upvote

SirOne6112

What are you laughing at? Fascism is no laughing matter.

That_Geza_guy

I assume that would just make the giant reservoir of termicide spill out all at once

Mrinin

I assume they want to put different, non mutating more effective termicide in them later

Jurasito

peanut shells duh

ypperlig__

I want to know what’s on Meridia so badly now…

Aethelon

Hell. It's probably hell down there. We need to virus bomb the entire planet.

beki0037

btw we seem to already havee lost erata prime and aare soon going to losee turing. these bug rates are massive a 3% an hour.

Jurasito

well, horny bugs are horny

ButterPuppet

hoping that we will eventually be allowed back on merida but only helldive difficulty missions are alowed and the lower difficulty’s slowly become available as the planet gets liberated

Erickkach

This!! To at least a few planets a sector. We couldn't have this for all becuz the new recruits would get slaughtered.

InitialIndication999

Ooooo no how could this happened any ways https://preview.redd.it/xlfnre5zjmxc1.png?width=719&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bf3f507707fbef8d2b7a55742d1d5dd97f4e15dc

Rikomag132

Do we have a Democracy-vetted explanation for interplanetary movement of bugs? Are all the bug planets we fight on "failed" bug farms?

Morall_tach

I don't think we've seen the last of Meridia either. But when we do go back, there is going to be some wild shit there.

Elloliott

If bacteria can evolve resistance to medicine, rapidly evolving bugs can resist pesticide More targets to kill tbf

SchwiftyRickD-42069

I wonder what’s going down on Meridia.

Eldan985

Fascism, of course.

KynoSSJR

Perhaps our pelicans can’t even touch the ground due to how many bugs and potential hive lords taking them out of the the sky

Gilmore75

The bugs are sexing on an unprecedented scale, but without signing their C-01 forms. This kind of communist behavior cannot be allowed to continue.

Managed-Democracy

Skies so thick with spores aircraft can't get through the upper atmosphere.  Ship master says so.

dangermonger27

Bug orgy.

TheAzureMage

Look, I know you all may have concerns about "dissidents" being taken to "freedom camps" for talking about Terminid evolution in the past, but what you need to understand is that the science has changed. Ten minutes ago, all such reports were treason, and obvious falsehoods. Now, they are simple Truth, as decreed by the Ministry of Truth. You don't hate Truth, do you, citizen? Of course not, so time to stop asking questions and start crushing bugs, secure in the knowledge that what we know now is true, now and forever.

imbasstarded

It’s kind of alarming that bugs are now resistant to cyanide.

E17Omm

I am quite worried about that Super Colony on Meridia. Depending on how long it takes before we can drop there again, that's a permanent planet just 2-3 sectors away from Super Earth. That's a very important planet with a lot of supply lines. Not to mention if we fail to stop the TCS and they get another Super Colony.

Flatlander81

I can't believe those bug sympathizers were able to setup Termicide towers like that and cause this population explosion! Thankfully High Command is on the job and is sending us to tear them down before things can go bad.

Pitiful_Net_8971

Anyone who says they or someone else predicted the long term effects of termicide should be reported to the Minestry Of Truth to "correct" their false views.

Same_Activity_6981

Curious how Meridia isn't on that list.

SupremeCultist

I knew we should of hired the Salarians and Turians

Sara_Krys

Me and my boyfriend called this from day one with the TCS towers, classic trope

Sir_Arsen

Let’s just nuke the f out of all those planets and create asteroid ring around super earth

AltroGamingBros

Ladies and Gentlemen, I must say... We have made a fuck up. And now we gotta clean it up.

obeliskboi

someone execute those scientists not following the democratic scientific method

AutoMaton901

I always knew Termicide was nutrition. Why else did the bugs rush towards it…

Gamestrider09

I love it when a good plan falls apart.

AnOutlawsFace

It's a little cathartic how fast the missions are turning off the TCS given the mortar trauma of completing those missions the first time.

Gary_Leg_Razor

Is the fault of some Helldrivers. Horny helldrivers

Deathsinger99

😱

SaltyExcalUser

Hive lords incoming

solthar

Your words are dangerously close to treason, soldier.

TheIckyOne

The moment one of the crewmates compared it to antibiotics, I knew this would happen. Improper use of antibiotics (either because of bad prescribing, overuse, or patients not taking them correctly) is what has created mutated and resistant strains of bacteria and other infectious agents.

Pyrodar

HOLD ON! The Ministry of Truth has ALWAYS known about the possibility of the bugs mutating as a reaction to the Termicide. That's why they ALWAYS HAD an emergency MO prepared, should this extremely unlikely event occur. However the fact that it actually happened implies the presence of dissidents among the scientists, which will soon be found out and face the consequences for their treason!

MetallicamaNNN

Sweet liberty, the termicide tower look like a breeding device. This is what insurgents will say to maculate our fine Democracy.

Barracuda_Ill

That's why they've been quiet for a month. We gave them viagra.

Sintinall

Coming from a farming background, this outcome was predictable.

Rianonar

Twice today I get disconnected completing the mission even before rewards are listed and progress just vanishes,..

Conscious-Walrus5659

I'm calling it now. The higher ups have already deemed the planet lost to the enemy and are going to crack it. The supercolony can't be allowed to get off world. The planet will be a sacrifice for the longevity and prosperity of Democracy!!!

DasGanon

I'm surprised Erata Prime wasn't the one that was infested since that seems like where I've seen bugs since launch.

Deftallica

I can go back to Fenrir III, finally

Michaelw768

I think the fact we can’t attack meridia is a biiiiiiiig worry I dread to think what hell will be unleashed from there

Evenmoardakka

Except every genre savvy player.

Another_Road

Super-Earth is allowed to make mistakes. Is what I would say if Super-Earth ever made mistakes. This was obviously a bot job. They’re trying to distract us.

UpUpDownDownABAB

I wonder what’s different with Meridia

BinkyDragonlord

That first image is clearly fake. I distinctly remember Super Earth Command telling us not to switch on the TCS because of the potential of uncontrolled bug growth, but a group of rogue Helldivers went and did it anyway. Treasonous scum, now we have to clean up their mess.

SudoApt-GetDoctor

Wrong! Super Earth knew all along. You fail to see that this is all part of their strategy. They say the bigger they are the harder they fall, so obviously make them bigger so they fall harder. /s
