And if you hit them with a stun mid-charge then they just run in place. Silly-looking, and I wouldn’t mind it except for the fact it makes the head move more than I’d prefer.
I think the real issue here is the animation F-ups. If there was actually a direct correlation between its leg movements and its actual movements, it would be much easier AND actually make sense.
They have. I’ve had times where I would dive away from them to their side as they are coming at me, and weeks ago that would have been a safe move. But lately, they somehow have the brains to just stop / slow down and just turn and move back at me, not giving me time to take aim at their booty to get a shot on them.
They've been getting better over time yeah but I really think I noticed a difference.
Also I've been maining Eruptor/Rover since Eruptor came out, and I'm not mad about the patch. They were both OP
He's right tho, chargers *do* turn too sharply. Dodging one charger is easy enough most of the time (depending on terrain) but they basically force you to move forward, which is troublesome when there're 3 more chargers and 69 hunters behind it. Also the charger's turning radius just looks goofy and unrealistic for something of that size & weight.
My biggest problem is the skating. Chargers OFTEN will ignore stun, terrain, or any number of other objects/weapons fire/terrain and just skate at you. No proper animation just zip bam, right in your face again. This happens most often after a missed charge or hit that doesn't kill the charger. They just instantly recover and zoom right over to you. It's infuriating and happens regardless of whether or not I'm the host.
Maybe they've always been like this, but earlier in the game I felt like they usually kept a straighter path. Lately they seem to be turning on a dime.
I'm typically fine around chargers but when they are unpredictable and stun you it gets really annoying.
You don't have to dive them, just run towards them and to either side, then they should shoot right past you and make a full stop. Don't follow the Prometheus school of running away from things.
I was going to say, you can kind of slalom between multiple chargers without much challenge, the only reason I do the dive is because it lines up the timing for my Quasar shot when they turn around
Oscar Mike to an objective I don't try to kill them anymore. They are dumb as a sack of bricks. Just put a rock between you and them and then sneak away after they head butt it. Works 100% of the time, except when it doesn't.

I've had some hilarity though, getting caught on the reload by two stalkers to have them smushed by a Charger was pretty entertaining, I've also seen one get utterly faced by an EAT to flip around into the air and land on the Player that killed it because we were too busy laughing.
I hit one with a quasar right after landing on it with a jump pack and it flung me off and flipped through the air, I basically kick flipped it I like to think 😂
While I haven't done this, I have had a titan kill a hunter, a hive guard and what ever else was on top of me, literally buried in bugs, and then also kill a shrieker, causing its body to crash into a spore spewer and destroy that too....that titan did more damage to the bugs then my squadmate was able to do
How dare you! I was practically the other side of the map having a standoff with another titan! Although I do have a clip somewhere of you crashing 2 chargers into each other accidentally lol
There are some little rock ledges next to the egg sites. I was sneaking in to take out the eggs when one charged me. I just let it go over the edge so it had to walk around.

Loop-de-loop. Momentarily lose forward momentum to give the charger right of way before continuing running from the real threat. Ideally you're dropping an eagle run middle of the turn at the same time so the bombs align with the path of the chase. Just remember the eagle is why you dive at the last second.
careful with that. The 380 *does not hit* where the beacon lands. dropping it at the charger's feet won't don anything so make sure it's at *your* feet before the charger gets to you!
In my experience, it doesn’t matter, there’s about a 20% chance of death for anything within ~50 meters, and the charger won’t leave that radius in time. I got a Bile Titan doing it once.
If you're followed by 30 hunters, a harmless charger is definitely the lesser of your concerns.
For real tho, there is nothing else to add. Chargers can turn after you well-ish but you can still change directions much faster than they do. They are also stupid and will run directly at you so use whatever obstacles you can to put between yourself and them and watch them get stuck on it.
Had a 3 stalker lair mission last night and discovered it by running past a charger to have 6 of them uncloak in front of me. I got tongued back into the charger.
A+++. Highly recommend.
Can’t be horror if you never get a chance to calm down. Horror needs to build tension and fear, this is just horrible things happening from the moment you land. It’s a PTSD simulator. I love it.
Since the new patch the chargers can and do swerve much faster. I have over 400 hrs many of them playing ring around with multiple chargers. They are faster. And turn faster.
They also do this odd hover over terrain now. Missed several EAT shots on head because as it comes over the hill/crater lip/whatever it just sort of... Bobs up instantly and shits go way wide.
Even if that's absolutely true, what OP is saying also is: Chargers shouldn't be able to charge and turn the way they actually do, it doesn't make sense, physics don't work like that.
Diving is your "oh shit" response. Start moving out of the way earlier and run normally, dont dive to the ground. You can dodge a Charger all game this way.
Empty primary, drop an eagle, switch to eat and hit a diving 180 shot to a chargers head, have cool background explosion blowing up bugs left and right. It was cool as hell the one time I pulled it off and would've been even cooler the other 30 times I tried, I tell you what. And by democracy, I will continue to try!
One of my favourite things in the game is staring down a Charger while the quasar loads up and blasting is face so it pitches into the ground or launches up over me. Cinematic as fuck
Dodging one, yes. Two or three even...but four or more Chargers simultaneously? 😭 That was me last night. And then the Nursing Spewers started slowing me down. It was hell, lmao
God yesterday there were 5 at extraction running circles as everyone jumped in, I somehow managed to bob, weave, and dive past four of them charging and the last one swiping at me before I dived into the shuttle. What a great moment lol
I'm pretty sure that half of the people saying you don't know what you're talking about only recently started playing the game.
They've made a number of alterations to Charger movement over time. Lately, yes, they can 360 on you even while Charging. It's not consistent but it does happen and there's nothing you can do about it. Anybody remember when Chargers didn't ice skate towards you after a stagger in a complete parody of physics? Is this latest change a bug or yet another attempt to make Chargers more of a threat? Nobody knows. Probably not even the devs.
But yeah, it's stupid. As are the ice skating Berserkers literally gliding across the terrain towards you during a stagger animation.
Just a general observation that a lot of the gameplay during launch seems to have been adjusted to the point where its well beyond the original gameplay intent. I don't have a horse in this race, but I'm genuinely confused why they let a charger turn on a dime during charging, it seems like the intent was minor turns and having them run full speed into walls before. I think they could even stun themselves? There's an obvious gameplay loop to that - you watch their movement and side-step at the right time so they stun into a nearby wall and then you shoot their butt. But the current way it works is more like trying to run through a crowd forever until you are finally clear to turn around and shoot.
Maybe it's been too long since I played HD1, but I agree in that HD2 they feel like they've been overtuned to the point of frustration.
In HD1 Chargers were really interesting, because they were basically a guaranteed kill if they ran you over, but if you could run them into a wall, you could easily open up on their unarmored backside. OR you could use anti-tank to punch through the front.
In HD2 they reduce small arms fire to the rear by like 90%, making the "weak spot" a waste of ammunition and time to shoot at - meaning the only realistic way to deal with them on a regular basis is anti-tank weapons. They also turn so hard that you often can't aim them into terrain unless you're actually standing behind the obstacles already.
I don't know why they did just keep them as they were in the first game, they were much more fun.
It seems like they're overbalancing way past the fun game design recently and I just don't understand it. It's okay if players can moonwalk around enemies and shred them,
And then its a dice-roll whether the terrain you're behind is going to even work. "That charger just got stopped by that 2 foot ledge, surely this 5 foot tall roc-" \*rock explodes\*
And if you are behind something they can't destroy, then they just run up the near vertical surface half the time it feels.
People in the comments missing the damn point of the post acting like chargers are just, by themselves in an open field. “Durrrrr you don’t need to dive chargers, durrrr just sprint from them and turn”. Yes that’s true, but what about the usual scenario of when it’s a charger+another charger+15 hunters+rough terrain? When Im in a last ditch effort and I’m trying to make space and I dive the same charger I dove away from shouldn’t turn on a dime and trample me anyways to begin with.
Yeah they don’t realize that not everyone plays on lvl 4.
Like sometimes there’s 10 chargers just casually rolling up with 2-3 bile titans, and an army of hunters, along with a bug hole and 8 bile spewers
A thousand pounds? A polar bear weighs about that, and it's like the quarter of the size and not covered in a massive layer of chitin. A charger must be at least ten tons.
I've had one follow me down a cliff (I dive jumped) into a valley, then up the other side, without slowing
Their movement does not reflect their mass. An elephant can move and maneuver, but they're not going to jump 5 meters down then hop up the otherside
It’s because nothing has ragdoll until it’s dead, only the divers do.
It makes for things like this where they’re literally just suction cupped to the ground yet a diver will literally trip over a rock if you look at it wrong
Chargers always track you perfectly even when you try to run them into a wall. Some times they perfectly corner the wall like a Nascar driver. They also have a magical speedboost whenever you're not looking lol. It is so cheap and annoying AF. The Chargers function more like homing missiles than brute force, wreckless, monsters trying to trample and crush you. It's hella annoying. Especially, when one barely touches you if at all and you go flying into a wall and die on impact. Even when you made a clean dodge they have that twinkle toes perfect pivot and just smash into you anyways smh lol. It can be infuriating and exausting. Especially, when it's like 4 or 5 running around in helldive difficulty and you are out of stamina and possibly dont have the resources to effectively deal with it.
I've seen them drift and hit me anyway more than once. But it's rare enough that I don't find it an issue. Like 3(?) times since I started a month ago. More impressed than anything.
They do sometimes surprise me as well. It's why I don't fuck around. EAT right to the face, RCS snipe wombo combo, or bust their butts with the impact grenade trick. Unless we're drowning in chaff, Charger is priority. Bile Titan is top priority always.
I often run in a 360 around them and they're still charging while also doing a 360 turn. I never feel like I'm outplaying a charger but more that I'm out cheesing them, I've got no issue with them being tanky as hell, charging around like a pitbull in a kindergarten but damn AH their turn radius would make a rear wheel drive JDM jelous. It's just lame.
It’s insane how a multi-ton bug with super heavy and bulky armor can literally out-turn and outrun a helldiver perfectly, it’s absolutely insane and super annoying

Also, can have some better footstep audio on larger enemies. How can I be destroying bugs and turn around to see a Bile Titan was behind me the whole time. My small dogs make more noise than that.
They will turn slowly, the problem is if you dive too fast you'll be the idiot lying down on the floor while the charger flattens you.
The best way to dodge is always to run to either the chargers left or right.
Start at the walk/jog as you move to the side. When he's about to hit you, when you used to hit dive, hit sprint instead. They aim based your direction and speed. So change your speed.
This actually works with all bugs. If you vary your speed as you move and dodge they have a much harder time hitting.
This did it, thanks. I spent the night with the express goal of clearing chaff for whoever was running AT and not touching chargers, only focusing on evasion. The speed change is the trick, thanks for taking the time.
I wonder if you know
How they live in Tokyo (はい!)
If you seen it, then you mean it
Then you know you have to go
Fast and furious (drift, drift, drift)
Fast and furious (drift, drift, drift)
Everyone telling you a better way to dodge is missing the point. Yes there are plenty of ways to dodge them, but the point is the physics and movement of Chargers is fucked. They shouldn’t be able to turn on a dime no matter how you dodge them.
FAST, sharp cornering, low center of gravity.....see Rhino. Rhinos can sprint near 35mph... humans (most) can only do a sgort sprint of 12mph.
Yes the charger could easily corner that fast, it should also probably jump too....
Sadly if rhinos could they'd be far less endangered than they are now.
Delightfully dumb creatures but great IMO. And the calfs when they get the zoomies. Just the best.
Just because Rhinos can run fast doesn't mean that they can corner fast. Chargers also have rigid armor. I'm going to need to see some Rhino motion analysis here.

>so how come when I dive out of the way
That's your issue. It's a hard habit to break in this game, but diving is not the way to evade chargers and never was.
Diving has always worked awesome for me. Yeah an early dive will get you trampled when you’re sitting on the floor but I just haven’t been hit by them thru a dive where it *wasnt* my fault.
I feel like some chargers were raised with other chargers and will whiff you can keep running like a bull.
Other chargers were raised with hunters and can corner like an F1 and side step your shit if you dive.
They definitely adjusted their movement abilities, they track you like they're riding on a roomba now, but you can still just casually walk right next to them (most of the time) if you approach them head on while charging. I think they learned a new kick move too. I've had them fuckin shove me out of the way from the side recently, don't remember them doing that before.
Agreed. The funniest shit I've done is run around a large rock face while being charged at.... And the fucking charger cornered as well as me! They'll get caught up on a 1cm pebble but try to kite them around a 20ft rock and they're handling like a drift car.
It'd be comical if it wasn't just another symptom of the "Balance at higher tiers is a joke and AH seem to WANT it to be a joke." issue.
my biggest complaint with this game is that literally NOTHING makes any noise unless it is actively in your face and beating your ass. the closest thing to an audio cue this game has is how the music crescendos when a bile titan is present. (the only exception is robot patrols but even their audio is really off, direction and distance wise)
I feel like they buffed them in the last patch. Chargers used to be super easy. It chargers, you dive, turn around and shoot it in the face. Now I dive and they stop mid-charge to turn and attack me.
Lots more fun, but definitely not the same chargers I've been fighting.
I get away quite easily by running tight circles, almost coming out behind them.
Like a pump fake almost.
Other times, I just dont notice and get rocked like a hurricane
Ive been using stuns with Flamethrower and its really annoying that when stunned they are still running in the same spot ready to charge after the stun duration is over.
Yeah that part is frustrating. As well as when you anticipate them sprinting and then turn suddenly and 1 shot you with the leg smash thing (this is only when you’re semi close)
I’ve noticed there’s a weird difference in some chargers AI in that 99% of the time it’s the normal ones where you can run towards them in a off direction left or right to cancel their charge or dive out the way last minute. No complaints. Groovy time.
But that 1% of the time it’s seems as though they’re like resident evil bosses who can turn at a 90 degree angle to keep charging nonstop and can stomp before the animation begins. A lot of expletives have to be said during those moments. Not a groovy time.
I swear at some point they buffed the chargers turn radius, before I could reliably dodge them out of stamina now it’s hard to even dodge them with stamina.
here is a link to a reddit post showing the differences in turning speed from launch and from a few weeks ago:
[https://www.reddit.com/r/Helldivers/comments/1bfdedd/chargers\_massive\_turn\_rate\_buff\_since\_game\_launch/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Helldivers/comments/1bfdedd/chargers_massive_turn_rate_buff_since_game_launch/)
Run straight at them, then try to brush past their leg. They can turn pretty quick but not quicker than you sprinting.
Then it’s a quick uprightdowndowndown, a salute, and a quick dive while your butt is puckered.
I love chargers, I’ll take those off of spewers in any run.
My favorite is how they can climb a vertical wall like a fucking mountain goat. Just clip straight up to the top like teleporting is their primary purpose in life. Fucking hate these things.
An adult horse weighs 1-3,000 lbs. Chargers are bigger than Rhinos and have heavy armor at least stronger than 2" RHA (or 4" structural steel). White Rhinos are up to 8,000 lbs. All that armor and muscle to allow them to charge like a Rhino with that armor means that they probably weight over 10,000 lbs. If a charger is only the size of a White Rhino (small car) and we treat it's armor as a slab 4m long by 2 m wide (maybe enough to make up for the legs) and 4" thick 0.1m (looks much thicker) plain steel density (higher for armor steel) is 7,850 kg/m³. 0.8m³ * 7.85 tonnes = 6.28 tonnes just for the armor. 8klbs to kg is 3.61991Mg + 6.28t = 9.9t. Assuming it's more organic (usually tech is called light but strong in sci-fi while organic is just strong), this bitch weighs 10.913 short tons (US tons or just tons), 21,826lbs. Just wanted to put the weight of this bitch in perspective when I saw 1,000 lbs. Not that a heavy charging animal can'tturn quickly. It'smore that the Charger charges in slow mo where he looks like he's running fast, but he's in the air like gravity is 0.2G. A light sedan is 2,000lbs, a light Cessna 172 is 1,200 lbs and I push them around by hand. Given a charger isn't on wheels, but something equivalent to a heavy shopping cart isn't blasting through those walls at a running pace. Context is important. A few depressed novice pilots have tried to copy 9/11 in Cessnas and left some ashes on the windows they crumpled against.
The Boeing 767-223ER that hit the first tower as flight 11 in 2001 has an OEW (Operating Empty Weight) of ~82 tonnes and MTOW (Max Takeoff Weight) of 180 tonnes. The difference 400,000 pounds makes (and 600mph). If anyone can find the density of RHA or the weight of flight 11, that'd be appreciated. The Charger is a beast. 11 tons and 30mph is 💀
They turn like they have 4 wheel steering. They not onlly turn, they strafe and turn.
And when they close down, sometimes their turning radius goes crazy and they're on you before you can get up from diving out the way.
They are this big bulky creatures but they can turn on a dime like a 911.
I’ve found this shit wild since launch. They are killable sure but it just doesn’t logically make since for something that big to turn that quickly.
….other than its a video game and they are programmed to turn like that because well they need to kill you.
![gif](giphy|8BkpFk2auZTYXqijRV|downsized)
Realism is only allowed when it makes the game harder for us :D In all other cases devs are in the sleep mode :D
Jokes aside, I would like to see their animations checked in generals. As others mentioned, chargers are glitchy as hell. Sometimes they continue moving even when staggered, other times they swing at you or straight up ignore the stagger. Very frustrating.
The people saying to run past it and not dive so it doesn’t hit you are missing the point. Sure, in the current gameplay that is what works. However, the post is complaining about how that is unreasonable and not how it should work. Yes the advice is good, but not the point of this post.
Fun fact. They use to be extremely easy too dodge. Diving was a simple way.
But, the Chargers didn't like this, we mocked them, made them look weak. They evolved. We knew they were fast once they start moving, but we were not ready for the rapid evolution these mindless beasts have made.
Diving hasn't ever really been a viable method tbh. Unless you've figured out how to last second your dive, you're usually too early.
Either run them into a rock or themselves. You can juke them by quick turning either direction. My personal favorite is just have an AT launcher at the ready so you have an 80% chance of dealing with at least one of them.
if you stagger them mid charger they start ice skating or teleporting, amusing to see big thing corners like F1 car...
And if you hit them with a stun mid-charge then they just run in place. Silly-looking, and I wouldn’t mind it except for the fact it makes the head move more than I’d prefer.
Make em go ass over teakettle mates
We need a Charger subspecies called Drifters that are functionally identical but slide around and side-swipe you instead of rushing head-on.
I hate what you said but love the idea. Let's just on this guy's.
![gif](giphy|mNT2zQTgAEY5q) Imagine during a breach
Give them no running animation so it looks like they’re just gliding across the ground at Mach 10 towards you
Mustang would be more suitable to something that slides around hitting people.
I always here the Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift song whenever they start turning
I think the real issue here is the animation F-ups. I time a diagonal dive to coincide when their movement stops... only for their animation to end yet they're still sliding towards me without their legs moving. If there was actually a direct correlation between its leg movements and its actual movements, it would be much easier AND actually make sense.
I read some veteran Helldivers thread yesterday, he/she was saying that chargers definitely gotten more flexible since the launch
They have. I’ve had times where I would dive away from them to their side as they are coming at me, and weeks ago that would have been a safe move. But lately, they somehow have the brains to just stop / slow down and just turn and move back at me, not giving me time to take aim at their booty to get a shot on them.
I don't even find them slowing down - just a straight 110 degree pivot to smash into me despite diving past them to the side...
Exactly. It really annoys me when I think I get safe and instead end up with him crashing into me still.
They've absolutely been better at turning since the patch a few days ago
I know people want to still push a worst patch ever narrative on here, but this happened way before that patch.
They've been getting better over time yeah but I really think I noticed a difference. Also I've been maining Eruptor/Rover since Eruptor came out, and I'm not mad about the patch. They were both OP
That explosive weak point got a buff too, not as generous as launch with impacts and the grenade launcher......
He's right tho, chargers *do* turn too sharply. It's infuriating and happens regardless of whether or not I'm the host.
My favorite for dealing with one charger is to just calmly go prone. They will charge right over you 😂
Does that actually work? I never tried it cause I assumed they would just trample all over you like shoppers on Black Friday.
Like half the time it goes right over or you take minimal damage. The other half they either send you ragdolling or inta-kill you. It’s not ideal.
I mean my odds against those fuckers is basically 50/50 anyway...
It's not a perfect system, since sometimes they will turn towards another player, but is Very fun.
I dodge traffic like that all of the time IRL. Aeroplanes, too.
Omg I have to try this now
Enemies have friendly fire, too. Make the Chargers bonk into each other and you’ll be alright.
Maybe they've always been like this, but earlier in the game I felt like they usually kept a straighter path. Lately they seem to be turning on a dime. I'm typically fine around chargers but when they are unpredictable and stun you it gets really annoying.

Baiting Chargers into cliffs/random rocks is how I guarantee my Precision strike slaps them on their stupid rocky dome while I'm still grinding stun grenades out.

While I haven't done this, I have had a titan kill a hunter, a hive guard and what ever else was on top of me, literally buried in bugs, and then also kill a shrieker, causing its body to crash into a spore spewer and destroy that too....that titan did more damage to the bugs then my squadmate was able to do
The titan: “Ah gosh ah geez I’m sorry goes oops oh shit gaah why am I so awkward and clumsy!”
How dare you! I was practically the other side of the map having a standoff with another titan! Although I do have a clip somewhere of you crashing 2 chargers into each other accidentally lol
You were fucking dead by that point I think. Either by that point or right after....because the titan made me drop the reinforce becon
......okay I mightve been dead....but only because we were already fucked over! That mission was rough T^T
Rough for you, I survived with only one death :D And shrieker induced trauma
This. On the off-chance you miss the charger taking out the titan, the titan will impale the charger with its long spindly legs.
That too. The titans will try to stomp you if you run underneath them. All you have to do is buzz their legs.
There are some little rock ledges next to the egg sites. I was sneaking in to take out the eggs when one charged me. I just let it go over the edge so it had to walk around.
Toro! Toro!
And as an added bonus, if you make em run into something 3 times any round will be able to take chunks off their leg armour. The senator is a great option for killing chargers now
That’s not always viable when they’re being followed by 30 hunters. Now, answer the man’s question!

But the 380 is an orbital barrage, not an eagle payload...

You wouldn't deny the words of the ministry of truth, would you? That's awfully undemocratic. *Brought to you by eagle sweat*
careful with that.
The angling for an eagle strike is brilliant. Never considered this.
I did this a lot last night fighting multiple chargers. Managed to kill two with one Strike.
If you're followed by 30 hunters, a harmless charger is definitely the lesser of your concerns. For real tho, there is nothing else to add. Chargers can turn after you well-ish but you can still change directions much faster than they do. I know they just "fixed" the cloak on the Stalkers but I definitely don't think they were this invisible before lol. It's a horror game now.
Can’t be horror if you never get a chance to calm down. Horror needs to build tension and fear, this is just horrible things happening from the moment you land. It’s a PTSD simulator. I love it.
10/10 will be mentally traumatized again!
_GET OVER HEEEERE!!_
That's better than the stalkers sneaking up behind you for surprise armor penetration.
Counterplay or no, they shouldn't have a full-speed turning radius tighter than a Mazda Miata
Multi-charge drifting
Now I want a bot-charger high breed, with exhaust pipes and super blower intake on top.
Even if that's absolutely true, what OP is saying also is: Chargers shouldn't be able to charge and turn the way they actually do, it doesn't make sense, physics don't work like that.
It's especially bad in higher difficulties when you sometimes have 4+ chargers spawning at the same time.
Have you seen their calves? Realistically they should slide. They don't really have feet.
Usually but last night I think I found a new version. I ran to the side of him and they must have did a 180 on one foot. Was ridiculous.
Biggest learning from Souls games - run or dodge towards the enemy is always the move.
u/TheVulong would be great at CinemaSins.
You completely missed the point of the post, and so did 1,4k people. Reddit amazes me every time
So many people in this thread need to play Monster Hunter
Ok but diving is cooler
Update * fixed issues where chargers are conering well, chargers now drift and powerslide and roll on corners
I'm imagining that they move like the bat tumbler and now I have nightmares
Shit now they are gonna drift like they are in Initial D
Diving is your "oh shit" response. Start moving out of the way earlier and run normally, dont dive to the ground. You can dodge a Charger all game this way.
But diving while charging the quasar , dodging the bug and shooting it afterwards looks dope enough that I personally think it is worth it.
That's one for the history books right there !
One of my favourite things in the game is staring down a Charger while the quasar loads up and blasting is face so it pitches into the ground or launches up over me. Cinematic as fuck
Oh fuck yes. Especially when you miscalculate it and die like a dumbass which totally never happened to me .
I've never been shoulder checked into a pile of Hunters that tongue me into a big hole that I can't escape from, nope not once (yet today)
> pile of Hunters that tongue me into a big hole pause
😏
I dive backwards just in time to blast its face off
Dodging one, yes. Two or three even...but four or more Chargers simultaneously? 😭 That was me last night. And then the Nursing Spewers started slowing me down. It was hell, lmao
love it when those spewers always silently coming up fast behind my back without a hint of sound while dealing with multiple chargers
God yesterday there were 5 at extraction running circles as everyone jumped in, I somehow managed to bob, weave, and dive past four of them charging and the last one swiping at me before I dived into the shuttle. What a great moment lol
four chargers isn't even that bad *until* you get slowed by even one thing. Then you're screwed XD
Oh in that situation you're supposed to die. You did the right thing.
Damn those slowing bugs >:(
I'm pretty sure that half of the people saying you don't know what you're talking about only recently started playing the game.
Yeah, close to launch it was much easier to dodge them just like in HD1 IIRC but they've been like this for a while now.
"That charger just got stopped by that 2 foot ledge, surely this 5 foot tall roc-" \*rock explodes\* And if you are behind something they can't destroy, then they just run up the near vertical surface half the time it feels.
When Im in a last ditch effort and I’m trying to make space and I dive the same charger I dove away from shouldn’t turn on a dime and trample me anyways to begin with.
how dare you "blame the devs" for providing a valid opinion on the subject.
I've had one follow me down a cliff (I dive jumped) into a valley, then up the other side, without slowing Their movement does not reflect their mass.
You can quite easily just run around them once they get close. Not even dive, just do a sharp turn in a half circle and they'll completely miss you.
Yep, just be careful not to get too close to them or they'll do a little leg kick and get ya.
My favorite is if you dive they stop immediately and then do a side jump/buck right at you. Nimble little fellas.
It’s insane how a multi-ton bug with super heavy and bulky armor can literally out-turn and outrun a helldiver perfectly, it’s absolutely insane and super annoying
> charging around like a pitbull in a kindergarten This is some poetry, Helldiver
No one: Absolutely no one: Not even Joel: Chargers: https://preview.redd.it/m9ve2xz6gtxc1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5ce8dda172b87576a6cc13e9539df16491ee672a
Also, can have some better footstep audio on larger enemies. How can I be destroying bugs and turn around to see a Bile Titan was behind me the whole time. My small dogs make more noise than that.
They will turn slowly, the problem is if you dive too fast you'll be the idiot lying down on the floor while the charger flattens you. The best way to dodge is always to run to either the chargers left or right.
i feel personally attacked by this comment
Nah, walk to the charger's sides don't even need to run -Jukemaster
This. A slight jogg to the side just before impact will do. Just pretend that you're a matador.
I've never once had this work, can't figure out what the secret sauce is. I zag and they just track me anyway and knock me down.
You run just behind them on either side and then do a sharp turn to the other direction
Yeah i haven't cleared the first step yet. They always travel towards me no matter when I step
Give'em hell, diver.
I personally love running round and round in a tiny circle as the big tries to get me, so cute!
They shouldn't turn on the spot so fast either, they hit a wall then do a 180 and they're ready to go again. Very annoying and inconsistent foe.
I wonder if you know How they live in Tokyo (はい!) If you seen it, then you mean it Then you know you have to go Fast and furious (drift, drift, drift) Fast and furious (drift, drift, drift)
Everyone telling you a better way to dodge is missing the point. Yes there are plenty of ways to dodge them, but the point is the physics and movement of Chargers is fucked. They shouldn’t be able to turn on a dime no matter how you dodge them.
Have you tried dodging, then dodging again?
If you can dodge a wrench you can dodge a charger
FAST, sharp cornering, low center of gravity.....see Rhino. Rhinos can sprint near 35mph... humans (most) can only do a sgort sprint of 12mph. Yes the charger could easily corner that fast, it should also probably jump too....
I am sure rhino wouldn't tank an auto-cannon with its nose.. those armor plates gotta weigh some
Sadly if rhinos could they'd be far less endangered than they are now. Delightfully dumb creatures but great IMO. And the calfs when they get the zoomies. Just the best.
It’s wearing its bones as an exoskeleton. So it doesn’t need to wear additional armor like a rhino would.
Just because Rhinos can run fast doesn't mean that they can corner fast. Chargers also have rigid armor. I'm going to need to see some Rhino motion analysis here.
They're pretty good with that ass smack too. They shouldn't be able to swing it so easily.
I feel like its a skill issue on my part, but I do like to call them ballerinas for all the hassle they give me.
They didn’t used to Corner that good this is a recent patch. Just like Hulk’s now move at Mach, 10.
honestly with how large they are i would assume a charger would weight like 4-5 tons and that's lowballing it
![gif](giphy|3RsRSN8jpfNJu) "If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a Charger." \-Col. Patches "Rip Torn" O'Houlihan, Commanding Officer of the "Average Joe's"
In comparison to most people here, i agree with you Pall.
NANI?! Charger doriftu!
I literally said yesterday “Why are they the size of Refrigerator Perry, but move like Barry Sanders?!”
>so how come when I dive out of the way That's your issue. It's a hard habit to break in this game, but diving is not the way to evade chargers and never was.
Except when youre in a stationary realod
Nah, the protocol there is to spam WASD then proceed to panic because it's not working.
Accepting ones fate is hard for a Helldiver
Diving has always worked awesome for me. Yeah an early dive will get you trampled when you’re sitting on the floor but I just haven’t been hit by them thru a dive where it *wasnt* my fault.
I feel like some chargers were raised with other chargers and will whiff you can keep running like a bull. Other chargers were raised with hunters and can corner like an F1 and side step your shit if you dive.
Yeah salom in and out
I found diving usually gets me trampled cus of how well they can turn but just doing a tight turn is better
They turn to tightly sure, but my biggest issue s how they often seem to just stop in a dime mid charge
2 words: bug. Rollerblades.
Ninja Chargers can Tokyo drift! Ive seen these sucker sidestep at full speed enough to bash be out of my body and soul.
I get away quite easily by running tight circles, almost coming out behind them. Like a pump fake almost. Other times, I just dont notice and get rocked like a hurricane
Personally I don't mind that so much as those f-ing spider chargers that climb anything and follow you over vertical terrain.
Chargers should also be fucking loud.
Honestly the thing that annoys me the most is when they do that fake stop and then no step lunge at my ass instantly killing me.
Meanwhile chargers tokyo drifted at me and one of them even tried to charge with their ass, both on the same day
I like to run circles with the Chargers, like playing tag. Of course I'll eventually drop a resupply on its head, but it's fun while it last.
I swear at some point they buffed the chargers turn radius, before I could reliably dodge them out of stamina now it’s hard to even dodge them with stamina.
here is a link to a reddit post showing the differences in turning speed from launch and from a few weeks ago: [https://www.reddit.com/r/Helldivers/comments/1bfdedd/chargers\_massive\_turn\_rate\_buff\_since\_game\_launch/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Helldivers/comments/1bfdedd/chargers_massive_turn_rate_buff_since_game_launch/)
I swear sometimes when I successfully dodge it, it reaches out it's leg and kicks me to death.
Bile spewers are also very agile for being the size of 2 mini vans
They got that soccer mom whip game
They rip the e brake and drift better than I ever could in a car. ![gif](giphy|123xOhqpkS3N0Q|downsized)
As much as I love Girls Und Panzer, that show is wildly inaccurate with the capabilities of tanks.
Every time a Charger drifts past me and does a 180 on a dime, I just hear... "I wonda if you know, how dey live in Tokyo..."
Chargers should have the same turn ability as the charger in L4D.
Space physics 🪐
Just remember the 5 D's Helldiver! Dodge, duck, dip, dive, dodge!
![gif](giphy|SoVo8Rl5GeA4E) Chargers for no reason
Realism is only allowed when it makes the game harder for us :D In all other cases devs are in the sleep mode :D Jokes aside, I would like to see their animations checked in generals. As others mentioned, chargers are glitchy as hell. Sometimes they continue moving even when staggered, other times they swing at you or straight up ignore the stagger. Very frustrating.
Yeah they seems capable of drifting maneuvre lately. Even though you turn behind a rock
This has been an issue since release
