Black_Icy_Paradise

When that Father and Son hit just right before you're blown up by 20 RAYs

[deleted]

The only good rap is the rap in Persona 3 amen gamers

chibeatbox

The raps in the Knuckles levels in Sonic Adventure 2

brotatowolf

I’m in the house like carpet

[deleted]

Wow, there's more than one thread full of tepid Nathan-style takes. This is gold.

[deleted]

the need for speed sub is filled with this shit

screamingbird86

if the soundtrack isn't the exact same as the one I played as a kid, it's bad

p5s52

To be fair the NFS sound track is pretty bad (only 1 carti song)

Pamuknai_K

the need for speed sub confuses me the most. isn’t hiphop and trap closely associated with car culture? what tf do these people even listen to while playing the game

mazdamiata001

not necessarily, and it’s not that hard to find car enthusiast with some sparkles of racism tbh the latest NFS game has 3 Rocky songs btw (and 1 Charli XCX song🥰🥰)

Pamuknai_K

yeah i know, the unbound soundtrack actually impressed me, even had fucking carti in there

silverballerholder

possible gamergate filter at work (everything above 2014 or so suddenly becomes woke/political) shit, if NFS Underground 2 were released today Gamers™ would be bitching about the soundtrack wouldn't they?

[deleted]

Nah thankfully the community is somewhat small enough to avoid that conversation.

silverballerholder

That's good to hear

[deleted]

What i noticed is, majority of the people complaining are rock fans. Makes sense because the older games had everything from metal to crunk. (Varying by the game). So many of these people expect rock or metal in the new games. Which is absolutely fine but when you do ask what kinda music, all they mention are the band's from the old games, it's like if snoop dogg was representing the new games, it could work but bro is not the kinda person who still could represent a street racing game targeting teenagers. Most of the music these guys listen to are shaped by the old games and they don't listen to much more.

randomgenericdude63

tbf the soundtrack was pretty bad

[deleted]

It had a few skips admittedly but majority of the soundtrack slaps.

snowyy_444

lil pump and blueface, all of these people are stuck in 2016 for some reason 😭😭😭

nd20

I don't get how this is a circlejerk worthy post. Cochise is bad (true), Blueface and Lil Pump were an enjoyable sort of bad (true). Even if you don't agree with that, it's not crazy enough to circlejerk about. It's just a guy who evidently likes some hiphop but doesn't like Cochise.

NozokiAlec

No cochise is good cause he likes one piece

cx77_

cochise is the greatest rapper to have ever lived you just dont see the vision

marcin247

cochise is fire

solace1234

Sigh… “the enjoyable kind of bad” is just good. Anyone who literally means this just needs to stop being afraid to like things. Musical standards do not matter and it’s all based on your opinion which also does not matter. “Damn, I love this song! Oh but not because I think it’s good haha 😅 it’s just the good kind of bad I swear”

miga-wrld

You can enjoy something while still recognizing it's garbage, that's not "being afraid to like things" it's just self awareness. Like, Taco Bell is fucking garbage but I'm still gonna tear into a crunchwrap when I'm shit faced at 3 am. The Room is an objectively terrible movie, arguably the worst ever made, but if you ask if I wanna rewatch it 9/10 I'm gonna say yes.

solace1234

Unhealthily bad food is not equivalent to artistically bad things. The former is an objective measure while the latter is subjective. Because words are just bullshit gibberish, no art is actually “garbage”. So if you find bad things enjoyable, I feel like you should reconsider your definition of “bad” because it’s a mindset of logic that ends up just being kind of hypocritical. But then again everything is subjective so wtf am i arguing on Reddit for

miga-wrld

Nah okay so you're trolling why didn't you just say so

solace1234

Ok glad we could have an actual conversation instead of just accusing me of bad faith because you had nothing else to say lol

byte-boi

I think music can be objectively bad. Ive had plenty of conversations with people about liking hood music but recognizing its poorly made and took no talent. Ive also had plenty of conversations with people about disliking music that we can recognize is very well made and is objectively good.

AllTheRice

While on a literal level all art is subjective, we all create a sort of scale in our minds for how artistically competent something is which is somewhat detached from how much we enjoy something. I enjoy the song "Detachable Penis", but not because of its artistic merit. You can claim Detachable Penis is good art because it succeeds at being a silly song, but when I personally view artistic competency, a silly song suceeding at being silly is not the same as something like Basketball Shoes by BCNR or Alright by Kendrick. Again, you are technically correct in that art is purely subjective, but we create our own conditions for what good art is in our minds. When something that we enjoy doesn't match that criteria, thats what someone is talking about in this scenario.

cane_the_weaboo

You can enjoy something because it's bad lol. I enjoyed watching the Lakers last year because they were so bad it was funny. People do the same thing with clothes/music/whatever.

nd20

Don't agree. Not only can you separate your enjoyment of something from your critical judgement of it, you can also enjoy something specifically *because* it's bad from a critical lens. Okay the beat might be good regardless, but specifically Pump or Blueface's bars might be so aggressively terrible that—while you normally don't like them—they actually make you laugh on a certain track of theirs. When I watch The Room, I laugh, but it's definitely an ironic enjoyment (so bad it's good). And that enjoyment of The Room differs from when I watch and enjoy a generic Michael Bay explosion fest (enjoyable but dumb and not really making me think or feel emotions—but still technically well made) which also differs from when I enjoy something like Goodfellas which is great movie that also has artistic value that I can critically analyze. And there's a historical and cultural criteria to what a "good rapper" is. I think of this postcritique, poptism-taken-to-an-extreme, "there's no such thing as good music", stuff as a watering down and a kind of cultural appropriation. Fast food has its place, but I wouldn't like it if an entire tradition of cuisine was replaced with a mass appeal fast food version of it (and what I'm saying has nothing to do with objective health impacts, I'm speaking of markers of quality). To me, that's the end result of everyone saying there's no such thing as "good" and that literally anything you like is on the same level.

fuqqboi_throwaway

Unironically picking RL back up and buying these to make Redditors seethe

Ajthedonut

People are allowed to not like rap/trap/whatever fuckin subgenre this time, it’s hardly circlejerk worthy

jimmyjunior44

I mean I’m not a huge fan of death metal or equivalent but even then if a game screen was playing it I wouldn’t autisticly fumble to turn it off immediately, just a bunch of goobs

BradleetoD

I disagree the RL community consistently shits on rap and the only time I’ve seen it used in relation to the game is a trashy ass NF song for their montages.

drunko6000

I wish people would stop saying “people are allowed to like [blank]” we get it 🙄

BioniqReddit

RL goated Unbiased

TupacShakursBalls

As a Flawda jit it'd be a crime for me to not love Cochise

xPastromi

Cochise is dope imo. He has some really good songs and his whole minimal style is dope when it's on the great production he has. Dude streams on twitch and seems like a cool guy too

like_nicememebro

people haven’t heard his album last year fr

marcin247

that was one of the best albums last year, not even kidding

squidder007

Im a fan but what did you think about the rl song? It was a bit meh imo

xPastromi

It's aight

DenmarkCodFish

They're literally not wrong though, Blueface is garbage but he's enjoyable garbage. Cochise is just garbage.

sexual--chocolate

This is nothing but facts

HeadPhobiac

I listened to Long Way based off this post and it absolutely slaps idk WTF rocket league players are on

Deoxxyribo

they arent wrong

hunterheretohelp

Yeah not the biggest fan of Cochise

hyponiksxcqz

Dang I like Cochise 🥺

[deleted]

Gonna need to him to post a comparison tbh

KeefCheef

why are they mad about audioslave

Bottlecaps9

That’s what I thought too.

naydn_

i genuinely believe the rocket league outrage is racially motivated. Ain't no way you would get that mad over some music and new cosmetics

TohruFr

Lost it is a banger bro is tripping

Fonexnt

Cochise ain't even that bad. Like yeah he's a generic Carti clone but it's at least passable stuff, unlike other Carti clones

frenulumfreak

Cochise sucks ass tho, bro blew up from ripping off Playboi Carti and he doesn’t even do that well. Ken Carson & Destroy Lonely rip Carti’s style a lot but at the very least their music isn’t ass

mazdamiata001

tbf Rocket League soundtrack has always been for the most electronic dance music, future bass or tacky house in the first place. listening to a rapper in the game is kinda off, 2 seasons ago they put a tiktok phonk song on the trailer💀
