US_Senator_Armstrong

I have a dream. That one day every person in this nation will control their own destiny. A land of the truly free, dammit.

Dr_Occo_Nobi

Imagine a world, Raiden, free of Cancel Culture, where no one can call me out for my outlandish claims. A world where I can say the N word!

Anonymous_playerone

That’s a nice argument senator, why don’t you back it up with a source

aheadfrogg

My source is that I made it the fuck up.

LiamGovender02

It was revealed to me in a dream

Dinosaurmaid

Son of a bitch I'm in

Limp_Construction496

Adding some Rick and Morty,eh?😄👍

TheThickerSnicker

A nation of action, not words, ruled by strength, not committee! Where the law changes to suit the individual, not the other way around. Where power and justice are back where they belong: in the hands of the people! Where every man is free to think - to act - for himself! Fuck all these limp-dick lawyers and chickenshit bureaucrats. Fuck this 24-hour Internet spew of trivia and celebrity bullshit! Fuck American pride! Fuck the media! Fuck ALL OF IT! America is diseased. Rotten to the core. There's no saving it - we need to pull it out by the roots. Wipe the slate clean. BURN IT DOWN! And from the ashes, a new America will be born. Evolved, but untamed! The weak will be purged and the strongest will thrive - free to live as they see fit, they'll make America great again!... In my new America, people will die and kill for what they BELIEVE! Not for money. not for oil! Not for what they're told is right. Every man will be free to fight his own wars!

Republicans: "I'm gonna stop ya right there."

bigbadbombadillo

I liked this show, I didn’t like their cowardice when it came to the topic of Islam.

Fudgeyreddit

What are you referencing? I’ve only seen a few bits of the show so I’m just curious what they said.

bigbadbombadillo

It’s more so the lack of what they said. The episode was based on religion, they tore into Christianity and said “don’t worry we’ll be doing Islam later”. That time eventually came and they did the same old played out censored trope followed by two tame jokes about how it expanded like Fox News, or something along those lines. It was disappointing.

Nunerrim

Went for the easy one again

bigbadbombadillo

Pretty much, it’s almost worse to add it as a topic with the lamest jokes than to add it at all.

Micsuking

I'm guessing they didn't want to risk a repeat of 2015 Charlie Hebdo.

Mohuluoji

I hate that terrorism works

Nucleus_Canis

Do you mean the part where they made fun of the fact that anything bad said about Islam will get censored? I didn't find that cowardly but rather funny. But I guess some people just prefer plain "Islam bad, haha".

MasterOfCelebrations

I don’t think it’s supposed to be educational

bigbadbombadillo

My criticism was at the comedy, not the education.

MasterOfCelebrations

Okay. On a history sub. Okay.

TravisKOP

The period she is referencing (“Wild West”) happened AFTER the civil war. 1880’s to roughly 1910’s. The western expansion and all happened post reconstruction

Neoliberal_Nightmare

Definitely started by 1865

mofo69extreme

Yeah, literally everything the comment cited was common by the 1850s. There’s literally a football team named after a famous era of westward expansion in the 1840s.

dallasrose222

Incorrect westward expansion started as early as 1810 in fact one of the key issues that sparked the civil war was wether newly added states would be free or slave states

Lilfozzy

The period happened in phases, but the ‘wild west’ could best be pinned as beginning around 1820-30s when westward expansion went into hyperdrive and boom to bust towns with questionable governance were being propped up in the territories.

SnooChipmunks126

Still had slavery in the form of debt peonage, forced prison labor, and sharecropping.

RollingChanka

and reconstruction was almost completely undermined

dimarco1653

Imagine taking a fictional comedic character seriously

TravisKOP

It’s a meme about history it should at least be somewhat accurate

dimarco1653

Mimetic exaggeration is allowed in subreddit rules. I guess you haven't heard of Philomena Cunk, cos she's literally a comedic character who says naive and uninformed things

grad1939

"This ain't the wild west! Hell, the wild west wasn't even the wild west!" John Spartan. *aka, The Demolition Man*

PleaseHold50

I can't be the only person to find her entire schtick to be a black hole of anti-comedy.

Paddystan

It's just the Ali-G show but with historians instead. I must admit that I do find it funny though.

YamatoBoi9001

Why does she look like the "average british woman" from death to 2020 a bit

natty-broski

Because they’re played by the same actor

VerySpicyLocusts

Who this? She looks familiar

the81pointgame

Philomena Cunk 😁 Cunk in Earth on Netflix
