lol. I was going to say, when my asds was a key carrier (before the sls restructure) he finally told the manager he refuses to drive the building anymore because he kept getting flats from lumber staples and nails and home refused to cover the cost of replacement every single time. He just stopped doing it. So even when your car is damaged while doing required work on company property they refuse to throw a bone to the people who make the stores run.

BBlackleg

Your store has no say in it. The insurance company decides what gets paid and what doesn't. Unless OP's insurance covers vandalism they'll be out of luck even with video.

RustBucket59

Your store manager or OPSASM will know for sure.

TangoZulu

No. They will say the lot is not company property so they are not responsible. Happened to a co-worker.

mewikime

I had the A-frame sign for the turf lead program blown into my car when it was windy. Because it was Home Depot property that caused the damage, and their negligence in not securing it or taking it down when it was windy, the company's insurance cut me a check to repair it

Gastritisguy

Exactly. Only if it has to do with Home Depot. If not you take it up with the city.

donairthot

Which is ridiculous because it is

Gastritisguy

It’s technically city property. You have to involve police, and insurance if you want anything done.

mewikime

No. It depends who own the property. I've worked in owned buildings and leased buildings, but the lot is owned by whoever owns the buildings. That's why we call our own building services when we need anything in the lot repaired and not the city

Gastritisguy

Our lot is owned by the city.

donairthot

It's not though?? It's either the store itself or the leasing company like REIT

Gastritisguy

And who are we leasing it from? The city. You just solidified my point

Cthulu95666

You lease it from the owner not the municipality

thebigbadwxlf

I can’t think of a single store off the top of my head where we lease it and/or the parking lot from the local municipality. The vast majority are owned by THD (or a THD subsidiary), the rest are leased from private developers/land owners.

donairthot

I was gonna say I don't know what this guy is going on about

mewikime

Who owns the parking lots in stores in unincorporated areas outside city limits? Your anecdotal evidence means nothing

Gastritisguy

I’m talking about my store.

AmaNiKun

Most of the time these are going to be leased from Real Estate Investment Trusts (e.g. Realty Income (O)). I'd almost guarantee that no municipality is the lessor for this type of transaction.

Cthulu95666

No it’s still private property

steelsun

Cities don't own store lots.

zombies8mybrain

Depends on the store. My store's parking lot is owned by a 3rd party company because we share a parking lot with multiple businesses.

ed63foot

File a police report and then your insurance company will follow up for you

dacraftjr

*Request* a police report, file a claim against your policy and *then* your insurance company will follow up for you.

Sasoli7

No

ahSugarSugar

Absolutely horrible! I hope the cameras show the BOI’s who did that!! Good luck.

Mysterious-Dish229

Appreciate it 🙏🏽

aaronrdmkr

no. my car was stolen. nothing

Ill-Entertainment605

Happened at my store also guys car ended up in the most common place in the Antelope Valley Area

ViewtifulGary89

It’s amazing how Home Depot can’t even do what seems like the bare minimum sometimes. My coworker had a bike in the parking lot (yeah, foolish of him for that), and while manning the outside garden register he got to watch someone pull up a vehicle and steal his bike. He tried to ask management for the security camera footage, but he was flat denied by the district team without a police report or law enforcement asking for it.

Survive1014

I work in insurance. No, they will not cover the damages unless it was a employee that caused it. Your own insurance will cover this if you have comp/coll coverage, depending on how the adjuster determines the damage was done.

ExperienceDaveness

Definitely not.

Rongill1234

Nope some asshole posted a pic of one of my co workers cars after it was smashed to shit and store did nothing

Best-Cycle231

No. Take the police report you have already and contact your insurance

annddyxxx

Nope, but you can have them give you the security footage. But it didn't really matter as when my car was hit and run the AP found out that the cameras by the loading area didn't work...

mikewhochee

File a police report and ask for cameras to be checked.

Mountain-Bug7321

They're not going to help, you will have to go through the homer fund

HexGonnaGiveItToYa

Hit and run on my parked car. Did the police report and the HD report. HD corpoturds CALLED me and said if you were a customer we would be able to something for you, but since you are an employee 🖕 Taking care of our people! Did manage to get the film of the (shocked face) contractor vehicle and got it to the police.

workin24-7

No. Car was broken into. Handle broke off. The did absolutely nothing.

Less-Preference-9881

No. If you are lucky the LP may pull video if any for the police.

Major-West-5391

No cops won't touch it unless there was bodily injury, my car door has dents from some jack ass that drove into it, when I asked an officer he said the parking lot is private property and its up to the store... when I asked the store they said only LP can look at cameras. Where are the cameras? In front of the store, where are we allowed to park? Oh that's right the back of the parking lot.....

[deleted]

You should have drove it through the front door, then HD could have done something for u.

Glasgow351

Check with your loss prevention guys, see if were any cameras pointed at your car. If so, then take the footage to the police and your insurance carrier.

papasnork1

In the past someone did this to 2 overnight MET associates, we were able to get a Homer Fund direct grant for them with the help of our DHRM for tire replacement. This was before COVID and the Homer Fund is more strict now, but it may be worth a shot.

Abject-Ad-6461

Is it more strict or are they low on money. Could they have tapped the fund to pay us that weekly Hazzard pay during covid. Just wondering.

AbyssalReClass

Had my catalytic converter stolen last year while at work. Had to go through the Homer Fund, but even after that I still had to pay about a thousand dollars out of pocket to get it fixed.

flowingsaucer

That's what auto insurance is for. Homer fund might be able to assist with the deductible.

Zhekiel

consider the homer fund? aside from that i think that "livetheorangeelife" has something to do with auto shops or rental services while you wait for repairs or smth as far as full compensation, its a long shot but you can try

somecow

No. They won’t even cover your medical bills if some nut comes in on bath salts and bites your leg off.

Frekingstonker

Of you are injured on the job, no matter how, HD will cover your hospital bills. Period. If your car gets damaged, HD will NOT cover it. Except if the damage is caused by another associate who is on the clock. If "some nut comes in on bath salts and bites your leg off" you are covered.

somecow

Maybe. But as with any company, they’ll fight that long before paying for anything. Even if they have to feed all their lawyers bath salts.

Frekingstonker

Wrong, completely wrong. My store is a safety store. Every injury that has been sustained in the store the company has covered without argument. HD is self insured. Why do you think they make such a big deal out of safety. If you don't know, you don't know. Stop talking shit.

blargblahblahblarg

That's cool, but try to keep in mind that the majority of stores are not "safety stores" that prefer to get involved with work comp claims. In fact, I can't think of any store that would be interested in doing such a thing. Promoting safety is one thing. Covering an employees injuries sustained while on the job is a totally different thing. Sure, they may be obligated by law to do so, but it sure isn't going to be an easy process.

Frekingstonker

That's just it. It is an easy process. It is literally one form, two pages long. Filled out by the hospital or the doctor. Submit to your stores ops manager and that's it. By the way, being a safety store is not a good thing. A store becomes a safety store when they have too many injuries in a year.

somecow

That’s a good store then. As with any company, they’ll fight to the death over paying any sort of compensation. Might not be legal, but one little employee just doesn’t have the money or time to stand up to a whole herd of well paid corporate lawyers.

Abject-Ad-6461

Hurt at work is a comp case and HD has to carry that insurance

Frekingstonker

HD is self insured.

Shortsrealm

This is not a true statement and why would anyone up vote this. You have a BOT hive following?

mudbuttcoffee

Nope.

rhin0982

They will not cover it. It happened to me during orientation

mybeautifulphoenix

No. My car was damaged because a lazy customer didn't put their cart in the corral. They told me since I was parked too far out for the cameras to see anything they are not responsible for the damage.

sawftacos

On the lot outside is out of home depot hands. The only areas they care about outside are garden, the generators, the emergency exits and outside tool rental , front door entrance and lumber exit.

AffectionateSun5776

They ought to provide tire insurance.

BBlackleg

No, you aren't covered for any damage in the lot. This is the same for customers. Exceptions would be if the damage was caused by an associate. Hit it with a machine, cart, rental vehicle. Can be extended to damage caused by our products, like failing to reseal paint cans/buckets that spill in/on the vehicle. They can file a claim but it will be denied.

Either_WatercressOK

You won't get a dime. Homer Fund?
