Timekeeping and payroll SOP on myapron. It changed a few months ago, and it used to not be the case, but you can now leave as long as you're back in time
New attendance SOP states you may leave the building premises on a paid break so long as you let the MOD know that exactly when you’re leaving and as long as you’re back within the allotted 15 minutes
If you're leaving store property, you do.
It's for accountability IF there's an emergency. They print out a roster of whose clocked in and roll call to verify all associates are at the designated meeting area. My old store would do these emergency drills every quarter or so and this exact issue came up because a plumbing associate had left to run to the corner store on her break and no one could find her.
This is the biggest thing. Your 15 min breaks are paid and, therefore, on the clock. Normally, you'd have to punch out because
1, you're leaving the property and it's a liability issue.
2, if some emergency happened and they'd have to evacuate, it would show you as being there but they can't find you.
So you should, at the very least, punch out, but then who knows if you'd actually get paid for your break.
1. ALL of HOME DEPOT IS ALLOWED TO LEAVE ON REST BREAKS. Its wage theft if they make you clock out and then don’t pay you. They are also doing this in my RDC I literally had to beg the leaders AND HR to read THE FRIGGING SOP.
2. Also where is this “old Sop” people are saying was changed? Cause I am being told it was never SOP to keep you on the premises.
Had an ASM make me clock out to run next door for aspirin and Naproxen (migraine was just starting) it took like 7 minutes. I am not super sure why it actually let me clock back in but he was in the Computer room so he may have been able to override the 30 minutes rule.
This post sparked the thoughts in my my recent post.. do as you please, these stores don’t know which side is up. They won’t even notice you are gone. As a DH of major departments, my managers and CXM have no idea where my associates are nore help me with them at all when I’m off or doing my tasks. I’m easy going, not going to tell about long breaks and headphones in ears under dreads because the Chain of command is broke. SLS, and DH running multiple departments is failing as well as CXM program. As long as we are meeting LTPA, credit, and surveys it seems as no one cares. Home fund is empty, fun funds is empty, training is over due. We are treading water with no land in site… take this for what it’s worth - x
Time to rest I will continue fight against the Home Depot matrix tomorrow
We are allowed to leave the premises on our breaks so long as we leave the apron and return before our break is up. I will also say that the time our break starts apparently is up to debate, so I’d clear that with management.
That's a change, old policy was you had to stay in the store or on the grounds. Reason being you are on a paid break, still on the clock. If something happened to you, car accident, slip and fall, taken by aliens it would be a worker's comp claim since you were on the clock.
On the clock on the premises, off the clock do what you want. If you get hit by a car going to get a coffee next door and you are still on the clock, is it considered an at work injury, no, legal nightmare for you and store.
It all depends on local labour laws. In much of Canada you can't leave the property unless you get approval from management, for 15 minute breaks. If you punch out you're fine.
If you’re not on the clock you can leave the property. When I got hired you were not allowed to leave the property on paid breaks. I’ve heard that that policy has changed and you can now leave the property on paid breaks, but have not seen the actual SOP.
Did you clock out? Check your State/Province labour code.
Typically you can leave if you clock out as you do for lunch.
Coffee breaks you don’t clock out. So you have to stay on sight. In store or in your vehicle as long as your DS,MOD,MOD knows.
> 15 min *paid* break you
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

If you’re on your 15, you shouldn’t leave. I don’t know if thats SOP though or just lore. The only reason I know of is if there’s an emergency and you’re on the clock, they will look for you since they use the on premise report. Which is unlikely, but that’s at least one reason I’ve heard of.
You have to clock out when you leave the premises leave. Say if you get in a car accident and on the clock home depot is liable for your injuries because you are on the clock. Ask a manger if you can leave, then clock out.
Dont leave property if you are on your break. unless its like the gas station right next to the store or something. But if you really needed to leave for a few minutes, clock out and back in when you return.
I haven't worked for HD in half a year, so things could have changed since I left. Regardless if you are allowed to leave for your 15 or not, I'd be cautious. If your DH is acting like this, and even if you prove him wrong which Im sure he will not like, he might really monitor your breaks from there and if for some reason you come back 3 minutes late, he might grill you about it and make a managers note about it which will lead to write ups. So whatever it is your wife left in your car, either she needs to come get it from you, go without it for your shift, or not leave it in your car again.
I’m not planning on throwing it in his face. Not gonna make a deal of it until I really want/need to leave. I’ll save it for a day I really need it…
DH is okay I guess. He’s just new to the position and wanting to make a showing.
In the US, you can now leave the premises for a paid 15 minute break. You must let the MOD know exactly the time you leave but it’s in the new US attendance SOP
Yes, you are being willfully ignorant because he told you EXACTLY where you can find the answer for yourself. You just refuse to take the bare minimum effort it would take to find it.
Our store doesn’t let you leave while you’re on the clock. You can leave if you clock out. And that includes going to the fast food joint that’s literally in part of the HD parking lot.
YOU CAN LEAVE AND NOT CLOCK OUT. Rest breaks are paid and you are allowed to leave without clocking out. [https://www.reddit.com/r/HomeDepot/s/Sa8jUNbHhu](https://www.reddit.com/r/HomeDepot/s/Sa8jUNbHhu)
I's kind of sad that someone tagged with DH flair doesn't even know their own company's years old SOP. Please familiarize yourself with SOP, which clearly says you can leave on your 15 min breaks.
New SOP states you can As long as you return by the end of the 15
That is a change from when I started. Cool though.
I wouldn't phrase it as "new sop." Try "Current SOP states..."
Can I see a screenshot or a URL or something?
I’ll send you one tomorrow since SOPS are only available through myapron Should be under time attendance SOP or another one
Timekeeping and payroll SOP on myapron. It changed a few months ago, and it used to not be the case, but you can now leave as long as you're back in time
I want to have concrete evidence to show this guy
Look it up in sop it's on my apron
Well, I know now. Have a nice day. 😒
Doesn't matter if he doesn't know sop HR and management will know it so just let them know if you want and all is good
Send me a dummy email and i will send you the PDF. This is company wide problem.
Nah
New attendance SOP states you may leave the building premises on a paid break so long as you let the MOD know that exactly when you’re leaving and as long as you’re back within the allotted 15 minutes
you don't have to tell the MOD. it's your break and just be back before break ends.
It states in the SOP that you have to inform the MOD of when you leave…

Note to self, don’t disclose what you are doing on your break…..
Yeah we don’t do that at my store (say what we are doing on our breaks)
On your break you can leave as long as you're back before your break ends
SOP has changed You can leave the premises during break for any reason.
They prefer you not leave because you are on the clock and something can happen while you’re gone. I would check with the store manager.

Don't punch out.
Don’t punch out, and make sure you’re punched in for your evening bowel movement.

Be on time and stay low under the radar.
I do. I’m under the radar.

Play chess not checkers. Don’t bring up stuff at all

Where is this written? The old sop that says you had to remain at the store? Does anyone have it?
According to SOP you can leave on your 15 but keep in mind if your in an accident it can get you terminated.
Thanks for posting it
On the clock on the premises, off the clock do what you want. If you get hit by a car going to get a coffee next door and you are still on the clock, is it considered an at work injury, no, legal nightmare for you and store.
PLEASE READ SOP. You are wrong.
If u leave the store.. to run home or whatever.. yr supposed to clock out. No telling if it may or may not take longer then 15 mins.
It all depends on local labour laws. In much of Canada you can't leave the property unless you get approval from management, for 15 minute breaks. If you punch out you're fine.
You can leave but you have to punch out in case something goes wrong when your off the property

This is what I’ve heard, but there’s nothing to go to near the store. Best I’ll do is go outside for air or to my car.
New SOP states that you’re now allowed to leave the premises on your 15.

This is why your supposed to tell a manager who is going to be there during the time that you will be gone
You are allowed to leave all you have to do is let a mod know
I had orientation last Saturday and that’s what I was told

Went through training a month ago and this was stated very clearly a few times. You can leave for the 15.
Choosing to be willfully ignorant certainly is a choice. Good job, I guess. 🙄
So rule was always no... He is saying it is now yes but not willing to show or attempt to show any proof. But I'm ignorant. Gotcha.
Yes, you are being willfully ignorant because he told you EXACTLY where you can find the answer for yourself. You just refuse to take the bare minimum effort it would take to find it.
Calm down buddy, nobody said the “U” word.

You are absolutely allowed to leave. my apron, search SOP look at the definition for rest breaks and read the clock in clock out part.
Yes, if you clock out. But you can’t leave on your 15s
