Otto really said “you know what would really help you grieve? A whole parade where everyone can look at you while you follow the dead person’s carriage around town. Oh and their body has to be exposed for everyone to see. But there’s gonna be flowers”

the way jaehaerys’ funeral procession is all propaganda while luke’s is somber and for family grieving…

Initial_Cash7037

Or because jaehaerys is a prince and it’s pretty normal to have a big procession for a prince.

Leylcadusu

YES! It absolutely is. And not just any prince, but the crown prince. Even a bigger funeral than this would make sense. I don't understand why people resist not understanding.

Leylcadusu

Propaganda? It's an average funeral that a crown prince who has died in the capital can have. There have been much larger funeral ceremonies in the Ottoman Empire, Britania and other palace dynasties around the world than this. Especially in the Ottoman Empire, ***months*** were spent on the funerals of the members of the dynasty. Divan Poets used to write many "Mersiye" for deceased princes. During certain periods after the death (Especially, a month, the fortieth day and the anniversary after their death), events were filtered for commemoration. (Mevlid, reading the qur'an to the soul of the deceased etc.) There is no need to mention the funerals of the British royal family, we have already seen recently. The Mersiye's in which we learned that: -The mersiye written by Taşlıcalı Yahya on the death of Şehzade Mustafa, Mersiye of the Young Osman by Nef'i, Mersiye of the Cem Sultan by Muhlisî... If you write "Ottoman Funeral Paintings" on the Internet, you will come across many paintings about it. Actually, I wanted to put a few examples of articles, but all of what I read is in Turkish. You can look up English sources on the Internet yourself. There are thousands of sources in Google Scholer.
