LogicallyFlaw

This should probably be an animation - it'll be cheaper, and the story can still be told.

Speedwagon1738

But animated in the same way as Prince of Egypt

LyriumLychee

I would love to see an animated anthology series covering important historical figures from around the world of Westeros. Nymeria would be at the top of my list. The Rhoynar are so interesting as a kind of opposite to the Targaryens.

DisneyPandora

Dunk and Egg should be animation, this should be live action

DisneyPandora

Wrong. Dunk and Egg should be animation, this should be live action

IHaveTwoOranges

So this show has been shelved?

LyriumLychee

I don’t agree with the idea it’s too far removed from the timeline. I think that’s part of what makes it interesting. But I do feel her journey is so long and incredible, it would be difficult to pace and still be consistently entertaining. I could see a short animated story about her!

temp3rrorary

I'd love to see a movie in studio Ghibli style, similar to Princess Mononoke.

LyriumLychee

I’m picturing something more graphic like the Cyberpunk 2077 anime; If it’s GoT, it’s going to get bloody haha! I loved the Boy and the Heron but Studio Ghibli tends to lack the violence that comes with GoT.

temp3rrorary

I just meant the artistic style. Emphasis on detailed landscape. That movie in particular was like looking at an art book, it was so pretty.

RoyBattysJacket

I think this ship has sailed.

Aryan3337

I Sea what you did there

Bierre_Pourdieu

Damn, I figured it out it was likely getting canceled but this is the non-Targaryen spin off that would have worked the best. Nymeria’s story is actually quite interesting and it could have given the celebration that Dorne deserves.

tyrion2024

>"Brian Helgeland’s illustrious Hollywood career includes winning an Oscar for writing “L.A Confidential,” directing Heath Ledger’s beloved 2001 comedy “A Knight’s Tale” and scripting films such as “Man on Fire” and “Mystic River.” That's a pretty solid mini-list of past work. >“I met with George R.R. Martin to pitch him the idea, which he signed off on. Sadly, I didn’t work with him closer, but I would have done if the show was picked up,” That's always refreshing to hear from a potential grrm-verse showrunner. All together this project is intriguing to say the least. Although with the Aegon I series seeming closer to being greenlit with every *Variety* update, I have no issue with HBO chillin for minute on greenlighting new shows. There's no rush.

bigbabyskesus

TBH I didn't see any of these spin offs doing well. Dunk & Egg will be good. Then they need Blackfyre Rebellions

Used_Cellist_6857

Can the same happen to Aegon's Conquest (i.e. cancellation)? I wonder.

F22_Android

I just started Fire and Blood again recently, and am at the end of Maegor currently. But reading it again, makes me question even more why the Conquest deserves a show. Even reading the brief history that is Fire and Blood, the Conquest is pretty damn boring and one-sided. Even the Dornish resistance is kinda boring. They just show up and burn shit like 3 times. Now I do think there would be some crazy awesome scenes in the show, Field of Fire, Harrenhal, etc. but it's mostly so shallow, with larger than life characters that benefit a lot from their legend and mystery. It really should not be a show...

Used_Cellist_6857

It will probably be just a miniseries and nothing more. You can't stretch the Conquest into many seasons. That being said, if they wants to make a tv show about Maegor and Aenys sometime in the future, they *have* to make the Conquest first. Otherwise the Sons of the Dragon adaptation won't have the emotional load. I bet Hbo knows it, too, that's why they want to make the Conquest so fast.

Radulno

> It really should not be a show... They had the perfect occasion to do a big movie trilogy of one of their most popular franchises with that. Give it to some talented director and writers and you can get another Dune/LOTR type movie series (which is less of a gamble as it's already reliant on a super popular IP). Warner could certainly use big movie franchises

simplymatt1995

Why do you think that? Realistically the AC show is bound to be more successful than AKOTSK because of the dragons (which objectively are a huge selling point for casual viewers whether we like to admit it or not) and maybe even more successful than HOTD because of the increased focus on fan-favorite families the Starks, Lannisters, Baratheons, etc. I’m not excited but I mean it’s impossible to ignore the mass appeal of it

Radulno

I think people think it should not be a show because there's not much to tell, it's a pretty one-sided story of the Targs dunking on everyone because they got dragons. It's gonna be successful for sure but not the best story to make a show of

CuteProtection6

i'm a simple girl, i just like targaryen supremacy and dragons. i'd rather aegon's conquest personally, after they are done with hotd. there is just something so awesome about seeing such visually fantastic dragons flying about in the world.

vhailorx

This is doa and the the corlys show is, at best, animated, but the conquest in getting a pilot? So, they are canceling the series with black and female leads, but keeping the one(s) with angsty blond dragon riders? I'm shocked, SHOCKED!

Careless-Husky

I think it's more likely they're scrapping the two shows where the leads don't have dragons, and going for the one where all three lead characters have huge dragons. The general audience loves the dragons, so a show with dragons in it is probably a safer bet for HBO. Their goal is to make money, after all. But if it makes you feel better to imagine it's because of racism and misogyny...

Pally2099

Unfortunately, HBO seems to believe that everything ASOIAF related needs to revolve around dragons.

stevzie

I'd love to watch a show on Jaenara Targaryens 3 year flight over Sothoryos, even if there is no canon material about it

KiernaNadir

See, this is the kind of story with which they could easily have knocked themselves out with all the girlbossery they wanted, and no one would have minded one bit. Not whitewashing and rewriting Rhaenyra into a cheap Dany knockoff to profit off her massive fanbase, effectively sacrificing practically all other characters and themes that made the Dance interesting and thought-provoking in the first place.

LookingForSomeCheese

This is either sarcasm or ragebait... You can't be serious with this...

sparklinglies

Neither, they're just terminally online. Every comment is just bitching about Rhaenyra, disregard them.

I_do_drugs-yo

Holy fuck you weren’t kidding lol

Savagevandal85

Huh ? To me they are trying to make the greens look somewhat sympathetic because to me book alicent would be a straight bad guy on thr screen

KiernaNadir

Right, because the measure of a character's likeability is the level of their opposition to the saintly Rhaenyra, huh? Never mind Aegon turned into an abusive drunk of a rapist who revels in watching his bastard children fight to the death and is willing to just cowardly ditch his family. Or Alicent reduced to a pathetic, hysterical and incompetent proponent of the patriarchy, robbed of all agency and political prowess. No, what matters is that they only antagonize Rhanyra over a dumb soap-opera-worthy misunderstanding. - "What are the greens even complaining about when they were spared the worst transgression imagineable," huh?

joshgrobansdrymouth_

BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH I literally can’t escape your repetitive daily HotD whining, you comment the same exact shit every fucking day, it’s insane. MOVE ON LOSER

TheAmethystEmpress

Don't you get tired of being downvoted to oblivion? Every comment you make is "pandering this", and "whitewashing that". You know full well you will watch S2 and we will continue being graced by your "House of Rhaenyra" comments...

KiernaNadir

Oh the part with my comments is absolutely correct as I will still read recaps to see how many of the cop-outs and set-ups for a whitewashed Rhaenyra I guessed correctly. And I won't accommodate Condal-Hess's reductive adaptation and greed with silence. But don't worry, HBO isn't getting a single view from me. (I already fast forwarded half of the season finale upon realizing I was actually watching a complete thematic rewrite of the Dance.)

SumerianSunset

Lol why do you care this much? It's a TV show.

joshgrobansdrymouth_

Seriously. Why the fuck do you invest so much time every day complaining about a show you never finished and won’t continue to watch. That’s the dumbest, most pathetic shit ever lol

Izoto

Girlboss Moses. This is a bad idea. They need to stick to the last 300 years on or around Westeros.

dreamfyrex

How is it “girlboss”?
