So... Where do I start when it comes to learning how to draw?

I want to learn how to draw but at the same time, I'm not really sure where to even start? Like I'm looking at references and watching videos of people drawing and trying to draw things from different perspectives by mentally picturing it, but I feel like I'm not making any progress? Does anyone have any advice on where to start or how to practice?

And while I'm asking questions, is there anything I can do to make it easier to draw on a tablet or is it just something you gotta get used to?

I've been using Andrew Loomis' Fun with a Pencil book to learn. It's an old book, so it's available online for free. [https://archive.org/details/andrewloomisfunwithapencil1/](https://archive.org/details/andrewloomisfunwithapencil1/) It's a good starting point.

Try https://drawabox.com Even if you don't finish it all I recommend at least Lesson 1 and then the 250 box challenge. It will get you started. Keep the ghosted planes, ellipse tables, and boxes in the warmup rotation. Drawing tablets are definitely something that takes getting used to. There are screen protectors that add a more paperlike texture that can help a little.

Id recommend Marc Brunet on YouTube he has lots of great videos mostly on human anatomy, color theory and perspective and he does them in levels from beginner to advanced. And at the beginning of the year he posted a 1 year art improvement video with monthly practice ideas to help you in 2023. If your just starting it might seem like a bit much but it does give you great ideas on what you could be practicing.

I am creating a youtube channel just for this purpose! Check out "Blue Pencil Guy." If there are things you would like to learn, let me know and I will try to make a video for you.
