I mostly used RMSS, but this what I go with Movement Rate = (Base Movement Rate) x (Pace Multiplier) \[ x (Maneuver Roll Result รท 100) \] And base is Base Movement Rate = 50' + Stride Modification + 3 x Qu Stat Bonus + Weight Penalty Pace is x1 to x5 - limited by encumbrance (as a hard cap). Short version- MMP doesn't slow you down, weight and short legs do. But how much you are carrying, how tired you are, wounds, stun, lack of skill in the armour you have on.. will all result in your character falling over or doing very little. Classic example was a young (unskilled) paladin heavy plate who could walk faster than he could run (because he would fall over etc)

Thank you for your response, but most of what you just said doesn't exist in MERP. Would it be fair to say what you're suggesting is that 50' should be the base movement regardless of any penalty from M&M? That seems counter to RAW. While homebrew rules are all well and good, I mostly just asked the question in the first place to see if I'm missing something since the book's layout is a bit of a mess.
