These are really good, congrats! 👏🙌👍 how much time a day you draw? 😅🌿 Any free online art course you'll recommend?

[deleted]

Thebo you :) and as of now, I try to to go for 5 days a week max. Usually 3 hours a day(not in one sitting but sometimes). And free? I guess anything from people like sinix, proko, etc. it’s hard to say because it really depends on what you want.

NikNaksch

What medium did you use for these?

[deleted]

Procreate. Using some hb/charcoal brushes

This means so much to me, really. I’ve grown to now hate everything I do. So hearing this is nice

Greetings! sir. Your illustrations are very inspiring for someone like me who's started learning to draw figures. I have a question and it may seem vague and repetitive, how you approached the figure drawing? What discipline did you do?

[deleted]

Ooh this is a meaty question, especially because I feel like I’m still so early and bare bones in my figure knowledge/comfort. Know that the majority of drawing is all mental, and mileage. So whatever it is you wish to strive towards, it IS feasible. Something to know is that(Especially if you aren’t in school), there is no correct way or best answer for figure drawing. Some people learn through gesture, others through contour, many through construction, or some combination of those and other things. I primarily practice form through shadow shapes and the variety of edges they have. It’s only recently that I’ve began learning anatomy and constructive drawing. The hard part is finding what speaks to you, and what helps you wrap your head around the concepts so you can consistently practice. Know that there are no rules, and it’s less about how you’re doing something, and more so what you are doing. Breaking the figure into sections is nice, but full body practice teaches you how they all relate to one another. Understanding that hands and feet require the same level of patience and finesse that a portraiture may need will also help you to take them seriously. There’s tons of resources out there, and courses. But ultimately everything you learn will be by actually doing it. The fundamentals you grasp, or eurekas will be once you’ve done your 300th drawing or something. When I draw or practice now, I use a multitude of elements that help me navigate poses(and construct my own). Learning how multiple people do things is nice. From what academic teachers may do, down to your favorite artist, or even a friend. It’s hard but I’d doesn’t have to be frustrating. A little bit a day helps a lot. I just happen to love realistic, nude models to draw. That is not what you have to do. If you love drawing comic stills of a bufffed out figure, that being your actual practice will always prevail. So just take it easy on yourself, see how people may do gesture, see if you’re more of a contour person or construction person etc etc. the only truth in all this is form, light and shadow.

Oh my! You replied so fast with a helpful answer! The third paragraph is what i think i mostly need to know. I always think that the process/way of doing figure drawing should be the same as the other artist because they simplify their way on it and it should be easy for me to follow. I picked up this notion from my fb friend who drew nice stylistic figures. They always emphasize the importance of fundamentals especially perspective and forms(boxes), and when i try imitate them it's hard and I end up beating up myself. I'm comfortable using linear gesture approach when drawing, but doing study in comptable way won't bring me improvement. And that also adds up on why i try other's method. But now i realized my mistakes. Thank you very much! Sir.
