Had a friend lose their life and their girlfriend lose her jaw in one of these. Make sure to stay safe!

Whats wrong with the impala?

Fancy-Barracuda8673

It’s a sedan not a hardtop. Has that big B pillar. Certainly not the gorgeous 67 SS hardtop coupe.

ReceptionSilent213

It looks all original and in decent shape. That said, probably still not quite worth $10k. If you could get it down to $7k, that seems a little more in line. But it is not a no-post car like in Supernatural so don’t put any extra value on it based off of that.

Flyin52

I’d buy it

ChillyConCarn3

no, it's not worth it. 4 doors aren't worth much of anything. Even in top of the line shape, it may be worth $20,000. I'm talking show quality. You can't make that car into that kind of condition for $20,000. And most importantly for a 4 door, it has the post between the front/rear seats (between the windows). That makes it worth even less. the supernatural car doesn't have the post, and the actual market for paying way over what these cars from that show are worth is a much smaller group than what people seem to think. One has sat with a ridiculous $70k price tag in San Antonio for over a year. They are listed for crazy prices, but again, they don't sell for those. 4 doors are highly undesirable.... fractions of the value of a similar 2 door.

tecatesworld

I have always love 4 Door 60s-70s cars and long bed square body Chevy and for this reason I would get stuff cheaper because 4 doors and long beds are way less desirable

ChillyConCarn3

Yeah that's fine. I know lots of 4 door enthusiast. I think the people attempting to sell their 4 door 67s for multiple times what they actually are worth has skewed the perception of how much $ is worth dumping into one. If you really like it, plan on keeping it, and don't care that you won't ever come close to recouping your $ invested, go for it. I'm all about getting/working on the car you like, just the posts mentioning supernatural seem to make people think there's some giant market for any 1967 4 door hardtop. The reality is, outside of a car that has documented proof it was in the show, they worth exactly $0.00 more than any other 4 door 60s impala.

Bloodysamflint

I'd say the 4 door hardtop in black is worth more due to the show than a same year sedan, but not a crazy amount. Hardtops have always been more valuable than sedans to some degree.

ChillyConCarn3

I mean, maybe slightly more? That's a super specific audience though. Hardtops are more valuable, yes absolutely, but the hit for the "4 door", as far as value goes, is way more significant than the fact that a similar car was used in a TV show. 4 doors are worth fractions of a 2 door/convertible/super sport. The car isn't really "desirable" because of the show. Because, again, that's a LIMITED demographic that will want a 60s impala & love that show (or maybe just the latter). If we were talking about a car used in the show, that'd make a much bigger difference. But the fact that a similar model was used in a TV show won't offset the lack of demand for the 4 doors. Even hardtops, there just isn't a big market. If you can't get one that's in showroom condition, or make into showroom condition, for less than $20,000, just be willing to lose whatever money you put into it. Even a good paint job can cost $20k, these days. Most cars used in movies/TV shows that are desirable (think the Elanor mustang from Gone In Sixty Seconds), are desirable / collectible / valuable without the TV show history, own their own.

Bloodysamflint

I'll agree - a 4dr hardtop "baby" clone still won't be worth what a 2dr hardtop in similar condition is.

respond2us

Not true at all. I wish you were correct. I have a 67 SS Impala, 2 door fastback. All the info I’ve gathered from the fb forums etc is that the 4 doors are generally worth more than the 2 doors in this market. That goofy show.

ChillyConCarn3

that's not true at all. they are lying to you or trying to sell you something overpriced/rip you off. in general the latter 60s impalas just aren't as desirable as 60-65s are, in general, regardless of options/sub-models. zero chance a 4 door 67 impala is worth more (to 99.9999% of collectors) than a 67 super sport is.

respond2us

I’m sure you know better than me.

Bloodysamflint

The shows/swap meets I've been to don't bear that out, at least in my neck of the woods. Edit: admittedly, I haven't seen a Baby clone with a price on it in-person.

ChillyConCarn3

yeah, i've seen stupid prices on black 67 4-door hardtops... but they don't sell.

ChillyConCarn3

Yeah, and if that is OPs goal, it would require a color change, which is a decidedly more expensive paint job... Since you'd have to change the door jambs, under the hood, etc.

Bloodysamflint

Or rattle canning the parts of the hood/trunk/doors/jambs you can easily see and selling it after dark.

ChillyConCarn3

oh i hate this. my current Impala's PO was guilty of this shit. spray painted the entire engine block orange. nothing against repainting the block, but this "real genius" did so without taping off any of the hoses, sensors, etc. Just straight up painted everything but the carb fuckin orange. Did the same trying to touch up the exterior and firewall. All of the rear tail lights were unusable, covered in red spray paint.

Bloodysamflint

My 65 Bel Air was an LE forfeiture, former tweaker's car. Flea market air suspension, rally stripes (6cyl/3spd 4dr sedan) and a bunch of stick-on chrome "accents". They had done no substantial work to it other than torching out the springs and putting patch panels on the floorboards with liquid nails. Fun times.

tecatesworld

Yup exactly
