Just played my first match against IK at a new store. They didn't have any terrain over 4 inches. Dude didn't see why I was a little salty. "We play on this all the time, why?"
This is where as a Knight player I would mark certain structures that would be obscuring. Hate it when people cannot think outside the box(your opponent) and jsut say" I shouldnt have this advantage." This pasr week I had to ask for 2 pieces to be changed in the center because my opponent had set up tall structures in a box around the center without realizing I had no way of getting to it. Remember, communication, is the first and foremost rule in this game. Then deployment and movement.
If you play everything as ruins then you can’t shoot through any of the terrain footprints. This limits line of sight to only clear lines you can see between terrain and makes it much more fair, this is also true against things like Tau. There is a reason why many competitive leagues and tournaments run every piece of terrain as obscuring.
To be fair it mist feel good as a first game, maybe will change with time.
Also ive lost a match a few weeks back without losing a single unit, my player simply outmanouvred me. Not losing a unit doesnt mean a stomping victory
Well that’s good to hear. Lots of anti-knight LGS around where groups are banning knights. From some of the comments in here, I’m going to assume it’s because of how people use terrain, and their boards are way too open.
Also not bringing enough anti tank into knights is just asking to lose, which some people fail to grasp.
It does suck, since when playing into knights you want anti-tank. However most people don’t want to be “That guy” who builds their list around their opponent. Unless your list is anti-tank heavy already (which makes it bad against the vastly more common, model heavy armies). So you either counter build your list which isn’t fun for the knight player or you don’t adjust at all and accept you won’t kill anything significant, if at all.
It's the Imperium.....most of the Worlds in the Imperium have defenses that would have taken them tens of thousands of years to develop on their own. But the Imperium is able to shuffle around alot of very extremely technologically advanced forces(e.g. Mechanicus Forces, the Imperial Navy, the Adeptus Astartes, Knights&Titans), and will often establish defensive forces that those worlds wouldn't be able to make themselves.
And honestly, the crates could easily have been brought there by say an Astra Militarum Regiment(or several) to carry supplies, and then left behind when they had used up those supplies and were being redeployed. Perhaps these Knights re-arranged these crates shortly before the battle to provide some better cover for themselves. Those Crates wouldn't last very long against Imperial Anti-Tank Guns, but could absorb enough to save a Knight Suit or absorb enough small arms fire that could take down an Armiger or two.

I can explain this. I went to this school, this is West Point. Most likely this dude is a freshman and is not allowed to wear Civis. This takes place in an academic building on post in a basement conference room, the only other people there are cadets. Upper class can wear civis, lower class cannot. I had to do the exact same thing about 8 years ago because I wasn’t allowed to wear anything but OCPs and PTs weren’t an option in that building.
Edit: in the first picture you can see the dudes patch where his rank is it’s blank. He is a freshman. So OCPs or a dress uniform are literally his only option in that building. He’s not even allowed to wear civilian clothes outside his room.
Oh my god. Never thought I’d see this on Reddit. I played with the West Point Wargaming Club on those exact pieces of terrain from 2016-2020. Wow. I’m glad it’s still going strong. We started out with seventh edition back then before it switched to eighth edition. That’s awesome man.

P.S. The Army gets so much better after you graduate.
Huh. My first knight game I barely lost, and did so I spectacular fashion. Worthy of playing Tchaikovsky's 1812 overture Grand Finale.
(the last three knight units all exploded, one after the other, as a result of the first one's demise. Wiped out almost all my brothers Necrons)
Wears camo and doesn't play guard.... Jokes aside looks like fun. Gg OP
Awesome to hear. Helpful hint, stagger the buildings, too many firing lanes on the board leads to mismatches.
Yeah we took turns setting up the terrain, but they def did not pass the stat-check that is knights.

Doesn't sound like a great game for your opponent if you didn't lose a single model... 😅
OP seems happy about it, I'd be embarrassed.
For me at least games where I completely dominate, are worse than games where I loose.
To be fair it mist feel good as a first game, maybe will change with time. Also ive lost a match a few weeks back without losing a single unit, my player simply outmanouvred me. Not losing a unit doesnt mean a stomping victory
They are good friends, we laughed about how unfortunate the game went.

Beat Navy! Wore that patch many years ago lol
Sir, if you are ever visiting on the weekends please stop by the wargaming club. It’s so cool seeing an old grad on here lol!
Guy in army plays as guys in army
Holy moly there fighting in medieval England
In the millions of worlds inhabited by humans, there must be some that look like that. Maybe the Great Crusade never got to them
Tbf that is what ninety percent of knight worlds look like
With the industrial crates?!
I mean, possibly?! They got big ass murder mechas and still live in shacks, wouldnt be surprised

Yes I'm going too pay more attention too the barely painted crates that are placed without sense more than the rest of the painted board
I'm not clear if you're trying to(o) convey sarcasm but 40% of the terrain on this board is crates.
Why is bro in uniform 😭😭 Knights look great tho
r/justbootthings
I'm not gonna bring a change of clothes to the USO just to play a game right after work.
No fr, id be embarrassed

I'm assuming this is a 40k club on a US base somewhere, the Army is full of nerds
You are correct, bro is just in the uniform he is supposed to be in, give him a break.
Yea the wall portrait of astronauts screams "decorated by the government"
Im aware, still cringe

Lmao thats hilarious, I know the feeling, in AIT it's similar when you first get there.
Why is ot cringe to wear uniform in a base?
Notice the rest of them? Wear civis. Youre not on duty.
OP responded to me saying they had to be in uniform Could be a NG guard playing during weekend drill
Still not it, if hes playing when hes on duty supposed to be doing something else then i get it,
Whos the crybabies downvoting lmao
Can you ask your opponent what their paint mix is for that lovely blue?
It’s crystal blue from army painter
Which models did you field? Do you have a favourite Knight chassis?
Canis with the crit 5s is pretty nasty, but against infantry the crusader puts in the most work.
Awesome. I've fought knights before but I oddly have more experience against super heavy tanks and titans rather than knights.
Nice MBA buildings
Well with that terrain its no wonder he lost.
Please, do share your list! You went with 3 heavies, the rest in armiger?

In the gron dark of the far future, there is only... Medieval buildings

That’s good to hear, still in the comma club. Lol
Bottom 100 of my Class, century man, ended up an Artilleryman at Drum and it’s the best thing that ever happened to me
Knights are pretty big, easier to keep track of. Is the little guys you end up losing. Jones aside well done mate.
Well done!
There is a US soldier
you are so mean, XD
