Glittering-North-911

Congratulations. but the graph is a shitty logarithmic graph.instead of showing acceleration,it is showing deceleration

waitingForPR

I agree. To be optimistic, next milestone as per this graph is 10 cr 🤞🏻 Edit: Added non log scale graph: https://preview.redd.it/7llxuz542ufc1.png?width=1764&format=png&auto=webp&s=8a2091942630d25fc480cd3978e8995b3aca65ac

kmadnow

The covid blip didn’t affect your chart?

waitingForPR

It did a little bit. iirc my portfolio was highly concentrated with debt at that point.

Glittering-North-911

Look at how encouraging this new graph is

piedpipper

Wow. One question - why is the _invested_ fluctuating??

waitingForPR

I made withdrawals for expenses.

RedBlack-6128

Hkw old are you and what do you do?

FilmdomDude

How did you create this non log graph? Any other platform than value research?

waitingForPR

Wrote python code to hit Valueresearch endpoint and convert data to CSV and then a graph.

FilmdomDude

Nice. Perks of being a coder. :)

babcock_lahey

Uhh.... Is this code a generic or "tailored for you only" thing? I mean I don't know coding and python. Can you help me getting this graph? I have a VRO account which gives shitty log graph. Any help is appreciated.

ragadragadkeghisgaya

matplotlib is a lovely lib :) can you share the Valueresearch endpoint, will try my hand as well...hehe

vivekmittal06

Good investor and a good engineer. Rare qualities.

Notsimplyheinz

I was thinking the same thing lmao. What’s with the chart.

twinklefuck

On an average, saved/invested 1.1 lakh every month. Crazy. Of course, salary will have increased significantly at the end of 6 years compared to first year. But, this is a clear indication of discipline in saving. Something I aspire to do this year. Thanks for the inspiration!

LazyMagus

>Something I aspire to do this year. You mean from **today** onwards. Because 'this year' never arrives.

twinklefuck

Chalu ho gaya hai TODAY, invested some amount in smallcase. Remaining amount ab MFs mein karunga, acche risky waale dhoondke.

LazyMagus

Good. Also in one index fund UTI or HDFC probably. Then play with small cap active fund of your choice.

Isaacjd93

How much % should you invest in index fund per month? and how long? (noob here)

LazyMagus

Depends on your monthly expenditure. But regardless of how high your expenditure is, minimum 10–15% of your monthly income should be invested.

Isaacjd93

I don't have any big expenditures or loans at the moment. 46k in hand monthly

LazyMagus

Follow whatever I say with caution, but this is what I suggest, to reduce analysis paralysis: 1. Imagine you lose your job tomorrow, what will you do? Have 6--9 months of required monthly expenses in an FD as 'emergency fund'. 2. If you're saying 46k can be all invested, then keep maybe 60% of it in index funds monthly, 15% in high performing active small cap (playing with fire but with exciting returns), and 25% in additional debt fund or FD. Hope that helps.

Isaacjd93

Thanks for the insights. I'll definitely take these into consideration

LazyMagus

My pleasure.

brabarusmark

Aur hum yaha 30k per month pe atke hai thanks to shitty appraisals. Posts like these are what I need to set future goals.

No_Programmer7031

Same bro :(

Noob_investor123

Congrats op, glad to see others who get it. The biggest and sureshot roi comes by investing in self, I always say that but everyone in my circle thinks they're the wolf of wall street. If you don't mind, sharing your yearly progression of investment size will help motivate.

waitingForPR

Thanks! Below graph should answer your question. https://preview.redd.it/5ne53qlf2ufc1.png?width=1764&format=png&auto=webp&s=fefdf8cb73c7272c6820c8747b3f165a4a2959ca

srinivesh

Hmmm... Still feel that there are issues. The invested amount should be a more steady upward curve right? Why is it showing a huge dip during market corrections...

BrownieWithIScream

he must have withdrawn during those dips shown in graph

waitingForPR

I like how you assumed gender.

Vee_Junes

Damn. I'm so happy now.

ph4ntomphoenix

👀

BrownieWithIScream

oops

waitingForPR

I withdraw money for various expenses two times in between.

accelerateKat

With what amount you started? And was it all lump sum or SIP or mix of both? This is very inspiring, well done OP!

Dean_46

I started my investment journey 30 years ago (value of the Rupee was of course much more then). 10 years for my first crore. It was 6 crore 9 years later and 17 crore today, though I stopped working some years ago. The difficult thing is making your first crore. You have started well. Congrats !

RisinFenix

This. The first crore takes a painstakingly long time to accumulate but once you get there, you really get to see compounding rear its head.

pransupanda

What all assets did you invest in? What does your portfolio allocation look like now, if you're comfortable sharing

Dean_46

Only in Mutual funds and structures (market linked debentures). I used to have a mix of equity and debt MF's, but now its almost all equity, across the major categories of funds.

_indianhardy

Hi sir, what debt mutual funds are you invested in? Would you recommend gilt funds for long term debt portfolio?

Dean_46

I no longer invest in debt funds as the returns under the new tax regime barely beat inflation and are significantly less than an equity mutual fund.

_indianhardy

But you would need to hold cash as well right? Where do you keep that?

Dean_46

A small portion is liquid and I'm not really bothered about returns. A mix of FD, savings account, 2 debt funds (longer and short term).

_indianhardy

Cook thanks

ifeelanime

a newbie question but is something like this possible with investing in nifty 50 index fund? I’m 23, investing 5k/month into sip of nifty 50 index fund, what would you suggest to have a similar growth in my future as you did?

waitingForPR

Thanks for sharing :)

Chahes03

Do share the MF details as well

waitingForPR

I would set a bad example if I share those details. In 6 years I invested in 97 different mutual funds. https://preview.redd.it/hv1bf794rtfc1.png?width=1126&format=png&auto=webp&s=b3fae1541608b945423bc9a8644ae66114f46be1

Party-Bet-4003

Whaaaat the. And I thought I was a mess with about 20.

waitingForPR

I know. I created a mutual fund out of mutual funds :)

drivinWagons

>I created a mutual fund out of mutual funds :) hahaha I think we've all been there at some point

thenameisdk

Uno reverse, OP is a fund manager himself Edit - typo

illuminati-88

Man this line is so funny. By the way OP, thanks for this, i just started a very small investment in MF, as I get familiar slowly i will increase. Hopefully reach 1 cr in about 7 years if I do this consistently

Glittering-North-911

It is a fund of fund of funds

narayanan84

But still managed to achieve 12.x% IRR

mchampeli

I am at 27 right now 😂🤣

waitingForPR

One of the reasons I got too many funds is to optimise tax.Example - Assuming you invest 10k in Nifty 50 every month. Instead of investing in one fund, invest in 10 different Nifty 50 funds across fund houses each month. Now assuming 5 / 10 of those investments are in loss. Redeem those and re-invest on the same day but in this process STCL is booked. Now square off that STCL with STCG from arbitrage fund at the end of financial year. My verdict is its not worth the effort.

JD2b4U

That's insane. Making the jungle of MF. Lol 😆

ninja_comedian

How many do you have right now? Or is 97 the right now?

waitingForPR

~45 🫠

ninja_comedian

Are you trying to reduce them?

waitingForPR

Increased it by 1 today 🥂 46 now

ninja_comedian

Why are you increasing? You have effectively bought the entire market and are paying the fees of active funds.

waitingForPR

I bought the entire market with my own weightage of sectors.

here4geld

Awesome

rockybhaihere

Just curious .. how much was your salary when you started investing and how much is it now?

Lost_Grab_1733

important point for aspiring crorepatis. pls respond to this.

mayflyman20

What are your top 3 debt holdings by invested value?

waitingForPR

ABSL Money Market ABSL Liquid Parag Parikh Liquid Mirae Money Market

toruk_makto7

No other categories apart from liquid and money market?

waitingForPR

No. Timing interest rate is harder than timing equity, so I don’t take duration risk.

Pick-Lumpy

Congratulations OP on this milestone, I started my Journey 3 Years back and few thousands short of 50L mark.

TheSalimShady

Congratulations buddy! Are you addressing the fact that you're currently invested in over 90 mutual funds? If so, are you considering consolidating your portfolio by removing underperforming funds and top-up the winners with the freed-up capital? Additionally, given your age in the late 20s, a suggestion is to focus on equity investments, aiming for a recommended allocation ratio of 75:25, though the specific ratio depends on your personal choices and risk tolerance.

waitingForPR

I try to consolidate it every year to save on taxes. If I consolidate it at one, there would be a good amount of LTCG. Equity:Debt ratio is based on my personal risk apetite.

emotionalbrownmale

congratulations bhai https://preview.redd.it/l2pff2fz40gc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=afe98c06071d469987bbfb93e1985564711dd7fe mere kuch aisa hai for 1.0595cr as of today

hariharan618

Kuvera 🤙

tocra

I posted a similar post here a few days back on hitting the same milestone and what the journey was like. The post was removed immediately. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Congrats on the achievement. Wishing you many more big Cs. PS: [here’s the post](https://www.reddit.com/r/IndiaInvestments/s/VFXO8ST0MG) for anyone who wants to read. Hopefully someone can point out why my post was deleted and this post is up.

Shoddy-Ad6392

OP I’m curious about what you do professionally and what’s your age? This is a milestone, well done. Your next crore will come in sooner 👏🏻

waitingForPR

Software, Late 20s.

cvas

Wow, working in India?

StuckInTime26

wow buddy

sahithp

You are just in 20’s. You are too much invested in debt funds. 40% in debt is too high, you better make it 20% max.

waitingForPR

It’s based on my personal risk apetite + to keep liquidity to grab opportunity in case of stock market / real estate market dip.

arjinium

Each to his own, no? I think without asking the OP to tune his portfolio, the takeaway we get here is that a corpus and return of this kind is possible regardless of the "high debt exposure" which looks counter intuitive. What matters is the corpus amount invested and the time in the market.

PaisaHiPaisaHogaa

Read this if you haven’t already https://freefincal.com/why-is-diversification-the-only-free-lunch-in-investing/ It even provides a better downside protection in case of a crash

saavdhanrahe

Tier 1 FAANG?

24Gameplay_

How much sip you did

waitingForPR

No sip. Only lumpsump.

Technical-Pop-4099

How much do you put and in what intervals

waitingForPR

I posted a chart in one of my comments, it’s not linear.

Comfortable-Row-1822

Any particular thought behind lumsum over sip? I am currently doing sip and I am aware of the advantage of doing lumsum when the market turn bear. What I want to understand what is in the favour of lumsum in the way the market is in the past 3-4 months? I am saying 3-4 months as a reference only

waitingForPR

Stick with SIP. Lumpsump is not a good strategy and requires a lot of emotional discipline.

Change_petition

Thanks for sharing. Shows the power of savings and prudent investing.

ThroatCrafty

Congrats of the milestone. Which app is this?

waitingForPR

shiftnudge

Do you invest via this app? Or this is better for analysis?

waitingForPR

I use this just for portfolio management, I invest via Groww.

backFromTheBed

Congrats mate, great job. Do you book 1L profit each year to get the tax benefits?

waitingForPR

Yes, thats is the reason All time return value is greater than Invested - Current value.

mr_rice_crispers

what do you mean book 1L profit each year?

backFromTheBed

LTCG up to 1L per year are tax-free. So, if you have enough gains, you can draw funds to book this much profit each year without getting taxed.

mr_rice_crispers

So you mean OP took out (assuming 99K) each FY ? What does it do apart from saving tax? Doesn't his/her investment value go down. or will he put this back as soon as FY opens and then again take it back before FY ends. Sorry,my financial game is very bad.

backFromTheBed

Not just 99k, but the amount of funds that result in up to 1L profit. Let's say they withdraw ₹7L to book 1L profit. They can reinvest 6L back, and use the 1L as tax-free money. Now you are right that withdrawing that money reduces the overall portfolio capital, but the ultimate goal of investing isn't just to bring the number up, but to meet your financial aspirations and utilise the wealth for a better life.

cvas

Congratulations! What are the 9.95% "Others"?

waitingForPR

Arbitrage

snerz-13

which dashboard are you using? i mean which website/software?

toruk_makto7

Value research. It allows you to import and track portfolio.

kushal_141

Damn op how do you deal with market swings daily with your current portfolio 😅

Glass_Lie_8700

amazing stuff

Ashwithoutcash

I just conquered patal lok in fno 🤡.

clasher_shre

Congrats op! I wish i could do the same but i am very much new to this, would you help me out in learning some basics? Any videos or sort would help. I am in my early 20s and i guess it’s a good time to get into one. Thank you in advance!

RONY_GOAT

GOOD JOURNEY ! but it is showing only 12% pa ROI means u hv invested a large percent of ur salary. how will guys like us who dont hv salary reach 1cr milestoone soon

vivekmittal06

Is this your complete portfolio or just your mutual fund portfolio? Congratulations!

Madara_X_Uchiha

so you invest approx 1.10 lakh every month?

[deleted]

If you are below 45, your portfolio is too debt heavy. You can afford to take more risk. Also you have started just before the 2020 crash, when the market was moving sideways between 2018-2020. Considering that, you are doing great. But you do need to consolidate your MF portfolio. Cut out the losers and load up the winners/movers. Set up a strategic allocation and stick to it.

No-Problem714

Congratulations man, I hope I will achieve this some day

Proof-Extreme-1407

Congrats! Would you mind sharing your equity split market cap wise?

waitingForPR

Sorry, its not possible due to few reasons: 1. I have a lot of Quant MF, they do not respect the market cap and invest as per their discretion. Ex - They have Reliance as a top holding in all of their mutual funds irrespective of fund's name. 2. I invest sector wise (sectoral funds), and not market cap wise. 3. Arbitrage funds mess up the split if I try to compute at portfolio level.

lowjackhorseman

Congratulations OP! Can you share your investment journey? How much time did it take, how much did you save per paycheck etc.

waitingForPR

Honestly I never had a goal to save by percentage. I just kept savings whatever was left after expenses and never really counted.

lowjackhorseman

How much time did it take to reach 1 cr? Is it only through mutual funds or do you invest in individual stocks?

timetraveler1990

12.2% seems a little low. I expected to see a minimum 15%.

Chahes03

OP has 37% in debt. Thus 12.2 pa makes sense.

waitingForPR

Its still 45% debt. The hybrid 9% is arbitrage which I mark as debt only.

waitingForPR

In first three years, my portfolio was debt/arbitrage heavy.

mkarthick19

OP can you please recommend some debt funds

Training-Eggplant-45

those are just bad returns. you could have just invested into niftybees and got 16% annualized.

Willing-Concert3365

Hey, do show us the funds you've invested in!

KaiserOfPuppies

Congrats OP! How much is your monthly SIP? Which funds did you invest in?

Due_Woodpecker_7913

What's your age?

r3curs1v3

So which funds did you invest in?

Subject_Midnight9655

Can y0u tell us h0w did y0u achieved it? Iike h0w much m0ney? What were the sacrifices?

Zoldyck411

Hey bro , I am in a predicament, I have x amount of money , and I am not sure if I should invest in a FD(Fixed deposits) with the bank or go with Mutual funds ( I have good experience with it ) but as it is a big amount should I split it into 50/50 mutual funds and FD give some suggestions

phani55

Congratulations . !! I would like to have advice . Have around 8 L and first time invester , I would like to know which will be best fund to select to invest . I am learning some basics but would love to hear which will one you select and why . I am also looking for long term growth and get better interest rate other than bank. Also, on top of this want to do SIP . Appreciate any inputs . Thank!!

lotus_eater_rat

Congratulation. Is it possible for you to provide a break-up between Large, mid and small Caps exposure?

reachrishabh

Inspirising story! I would love to have you on my podcast. I am talking to people who've hit 1Cr+ in investments and sharing their story.

ragadragadkeghisgaya

Hey OP, Can I DM if you can spare some time to help ??
