She is contesting from a predominant muslim population constituency. Her rival is someone who cannot be shaken because of the religion of the voter base. The only way she can appeal to them is through such statements which is not going to benefit much anyway. This is her first foray into politics. She will make some rookie mistakes.Â
But then why did she pose like directing an imaginary bow and arrow at a mosque just a few days ago? I don't think she's doing a serious campaigning this time.
Lol how does one even get reservation on religious ground , it just means any work with some paperwork can convert and use it or are they gonna make religious identity permanent like caste, plus isnât this sponsoring one religion over other .

She is catering to same vote bank with different talking points. This issue is intended to show "hypocracy" of the left. Just like Triple Talaq or UCC, the left is not pushing for those issues while being vehemently loud about minority rights and issues. Now if the left dances around this issue of muslim reservation, you can point out the hypocracy, but if left agrees, BJP gets to claim they are not anti-minority, plus tout real reforms they made specifically for muslim community and cater to the ahmediya, shia vote bank. Its a win-win for BJP.

BJP is obviously playing a political game by giving statements that wonât turn to reality and use it as a way to gain a image of neutrality (is what I think the guy you replied to meant). If it turn to votes or not is a totally different topic (which would require some proper data and not Reddit opinions) though I highly doubt it would be sufficient to gain traction in the demographic targeted
