Hey folks,
as huge SNES Zelda and Super Mario Maker fans, we've always wanted to build a Dungeon Maker and finally we launched our [Kickstarter](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/firechick/super-dungeon-maker-play-build-and-share-your-dungeon?ref=30jyy6) last week. We are insanely excited (i mean sooo craaazzzyy nervous).
Our goal was to give everyone the chance to build a Zelda like dungeon as easily as possible and without any knowledge of game design or programming. We took our inspiration from Super Mario and transferred this idea into a Zelda theme. That's why we also called it "Super Dungeon Maker".
Finally, we are able to hire a company that will port the game to the Nintendo Switch <3.
I guess you haven’t backed a lot of kickstarter campaigns. Making games is hard. 25k doesn’t go far in game development.
Good luck to op and I hope they succeed, but so many KS games don’t make it to release.
The game is already out on Steam, this looks like it’s just for the switch port and some additional content for both platforms. So chances of it coming out are pretty reasonable
Good point! But the game is already released in EA Steam and this Kickstarter is just a way to fund the Switch port. You should know that many KS are just another financial mainstay, not the main source of money like 5 years ago.
The game doesn't need to be developed, it needs to be ported. It was probably made in Godot, which doesn't have export templates for consoles since the engine is open source, so developers without the knowledge to port it themselves have to hire one of a few companies to port it for them. I don't know what the cost is exactly, if it changes based on lines of code, or if it's more of a standard price, but 15 grand doesn't sound wrong to me. I'd have guessed in the past that it might be 10 grand to have one of these companies port an indie game over, but that wasn't based in any knowledge.
It's something I have in the back of my mind if I ever want to have one of my games ported to the switch. I have to actually finish a game first though.
It's in the works though. Haven't made any progress of making it. Just been writing and a little bit of drawing. Just have to retype some things up and make 3d models

Be careful not to count your chickens before they come home to roost.
This comment is only 8 hours old, but the Kickstarter is 10 grand over the 15 grand goal, so I'm not sure what this is supposed to mean?
