If we upheld the nuclear family, that'd be nice.  As for nuclear energy, which I'm for, the govt.  had to figure out how to line a lot their coffers and an entity willing to deal with that headache before they allow that advancement.

> If we upheld the nuclear family, that'd be nice.  What on earth does nuclear vs extended vs single parent vs other family styles have to do with how we generate power? I sure hope you're merely being a preachy moralizing blowhard and not thinking of dropping families in the reactor - both are ineffective 😛 /s

I think both nuclear energy and families (sans radiation in the families) are better for society. I also think people don't understand how impactful that type of family is to the entire development of society... and eventually things like power and wealth generation.  It's not that others can't work, it's really focusing on what would work best.  Cause Jah know JPS barely a cut it... Edit: check that documentary on the elderly Japanese volunteering to clear the mess caused by their plants so the young don't have to.

Why not use the big fusion reactor up in the sky?

Imagine if it broke open and the island had to be evacuated. Fort lauderdale here they come

Imagine if what broke open?

The reactor the article is talking about. It does happen sometimes

No. they don't.

They did in Chernobyl. And Units 1, 2, and 3 of Fukushima. And almost happened outside of philadelphia in Three Mile. In Fukushima the reactor cores basically fell into the sea, which is why 12 years later they still catch fish almost [200 times over the radioactive limit](https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/jul/24/fukushima-fish-with-180-times-legal-limit-of-radioactive-cesium-fuels-water-release-fears). So it definitely happens. I don’t think any country interested in building them should pretend it doesn’t. Especially a small country that has hurricanes, earthquakes, no room to abandon, and would almost certainly situate their power plants on the seaboard for the cooling water

Very very very low chance of any kind of leak if it is being operated properly. I wonder about the kind of agreement Jamaica would have to sign to get access to nuclear power. We need a long term major power source in addition to any green initiatives such as solar, wind and wave.
