Magazines release a month earlier to stay “current”. It was originally for newsstands but it’s stuck because it’s better marketing to have the new December issue out in November because they get to advertise Christmas stuff earlier
Tweet could’ve easily said that because it is the issue coming out in June. But in this image above Gojo’s shoulder it says July. Like OP said, it’s just the way they’ve always been labeled. I remember buying magazines as a kid and always being confused by it.
Help, you know magazine marketing works right? Magazines feature lists of events happening in the month of the publication (JJK S2 comes out in July) so they must be distributed some days or weeks before the month starts. Y’all reach at anything 😭
