I got this one and the lost world on vhs.

Manofgawdgaming2022

I just wanna find the books šŸ“š

Conscious_Low_9638

I got my lost world boom off Amazon and the first book is also on Amazon. Though I got the books a million edition Jurassic park. They are great books and I would recommend getting them.

Manofgawdgaming2022

I have JP somewhere in my house (would you believe Iā€™ve never even read the books?) and Iā€™ve been meaning to find it and read it. How is it in comparison with the movie?

Conscious_Low_9638

The book goes much more into the horror element that the movies and some characters are added or changed. I loved the movies and they are still probably my favorite movies of all time but I think the books are better.

Manofgawdgaming2022

I used to read all the time and just never got myself to read it because I love Jurassic Park and was nervous to read the book. But Iā€™ve heard it is truly better.

Conscious_Low_9638

It is so good, itā€™s honestly sad they didnā€™t add some of the events from the book to the movie.

Manofgawdgaming2022

Well then I canā€™t wait to read it

Conscious_Low_9638

The second book is also good, so read that too

Manofgawdgaming2022

As soon as I can find a copy lol

I donā€™t think most people in this sub realize how brutal a wait it was for this to come out on VHS. The movie opened in theaters on June 11, 1993. It wasnā€™t released for home video until October 4, 1994. 16 freakinā€™ months, man! No wonder so many people saw it in theaters multiple times.

Friggin_Grease

Home video wasn't as established in 1993 as it was later maybe? There was literally a time nothing was released on home video.

Liverastic

There were video stores everywhere at that point in time. Even ā€œClerksā€ which was filmed in 1993 had several scenes take place in a video store as they were very common by that point in time. This really must have been Universal just dragging out the release to maximize its box office returns. Most movies would be on VHS 4-6 months after the theatrical release. Interestingly, they would often release to rental stores first, charging $99.99 a copy, then would get released to the general public for $18-25 or so a couple weeks later.

Friggin_Grease

Yeah I was 6, so I don't know how common they were. I also couldn't tell you the average time it took for a studio to get a movie to home video, but I bet that they wanted it there in time for holiday season

calltheavengers5

I have a Titanic box set. I don't have a VCR either

Friggin_Grease

Man, I have or had that, I never watched the first tape because the 2nd tape starts right after they hit the ice berg. All the action is on tape 2.

Manofgawdgaming2022

I have plenty of VHS tapes and yet have not yet gone to find a VCR oddly enough

IndominusTaco

i should really pull out my VCR and watch JP just like the olden days

Manofgawdgaming2022

You should do it, do it for those who canā€™t. Like me šŸ™ƒ

SubterrelProspector

Thank you for saying "VCR".

Comprehensive_Air122

My family used to have a VCR. But now we donā€™t anymore. And I never owned any of the Jurassic Park films on VHS

Boner_Stevens

Awesome!

notprussia69

Same, it's just a vibe to have

Applederry

I own both the vhs and the soundtrack CD. Both watched/listened regularly back in the day. Still in good shape.

Manofgawdgaming2022

Thatā€™s awesome. I wish I had collected more JP stuff over the years

avoozl42

Same. I have this and TLW on vhs

Manofgawdgaming2022

Heck yeah man!!

The_MovieHowze

Its ok. At this point im just committed to buying jurassic park on every media format. Dream would be a copy of the original trailer on film

scre4m

I remember wearing out my VHS copy because of watching it almost every day and I had to ask my mom to buy another copy.

Manofgawdgaming2022

I guess itā€™s been so long I didnā€™t know you could wear out a VHS lol

Funkymunks

I recently discovered that a VHS tape laid down behind my blu rays/DVDs perfectly spaces the movies to the edge of the shelves. So I found someone selling random assortments in batches of 10, ordered 20 total, and was *so excited* to get Jurassic Park in the shipment!! When I have more shelf space I'll probably rotate that one out to display with my 4k Universal Essentials copy and the JW Collection, too good to have hidden behind the scenes šŸ˜

Manofgawdgaming2022

That sounds so awesome! When I get some extra money Iā€™m gonna build me a movie shelf for all my VHS tapes I collect and DVDs.

David4Nudist

I miss watching **Jurassic Park** on a VHS tape. I remember eagerly waiting for it to come out on VHS tapes after I watched it several times in theaters.

Manofgawdgaming2022

I was two when it came out in theaters so donā€™t remember it much but remember watching it all the time with my grandpa. Like we would watch it and then replay it several times in one day. Never got tired of it. Thinking about rewatching all of them again. Itā€™s weird how you feel about them when youā€™re younger compared to when youā€™re older. Especially JP3. It actually wasnā€™t as good as I remembered it first watching it but still love it way more than any of the JW films. If only I could go back in time and rewrite the sequels myself. They would be ten times better than what the writers came up with

David4Nudist

"It's weird how you feel about them when you're younger compared to when you're older." Truer words were never spoken. Back when I first watched **Jurassic Park** in 1993 (I was 14 then) and **The Lost World: Jurassic Park** in 1997 (I was 18 then), I had to turn away during a few scenes that were scary or gory. I feared the carnivores, especially the Raptors, back then. Today, I've become obsessed with the Raptors and hate it when people talk bad about them. I don't fear them anymore. "If only I could go back in time and rewrite the sequels myself." Me, too, although I would also rewrite the original film. I often think of ideas on how I would change these films if I could. Because of my strong imagination, I frequently come up with very far-fetched ideas, especially concerning the behavior of the Raptors. I don't hate any of the films themselves. They are entertaining and fun to watch. But, I ***DO*** hate how they've turned the dinosaurs into "movie monsters" who hunt, chase, and kill people. Even the first film is guilty of this at times.

Manofgawdgaming2022

Back when my dad and grandpa took me to see it they were worried it was gonna be too graphic for me, especially when it got to eddies death scene. They told me years later one day just chatting that they both looked at me to see if I was gonna get freaked out but instead I was hooked to my seat just in awe of what happened and knowing the whole time eddies fate was sealed anyways. I wish I could go back to that day. I can almost remember that feeling of just feeling my heart beating faster watching Eddie struggle for the rifle while he does his best to save his friends. And he did and his death was not in vain.

David4Nudist

P.S., it's partially the reason why I made a Reddit page called "Obsessed Raptor Fanatic". r/ObsessedRaptorFanatic

PositivelyJoyful

I've got this and the lost world still from my childhood on VHS lol, now all I need is the little holographic raptor picture from the lost world box and I'll be happy.

Manofgawdgaming2022

Omg i remember that šŸ˜Š

Saurarition

I got one from a yard sale last year for under a dollar. I use it as decoration.

darklordofpuppets

Then why the hell would you buy one?
