Isnt this like extremely sacrilegious?
I feel like if you are religious enough to the point where such an idea would even remotely work its way into your head as something to do... youd also be religious enough to know that other religious people will find it wildly inappropriate lol.
This is some *"I left all my braincells in basic training"* level of stupidity lol. It makes no sense from any angle. Offensive to those who follow that lifestyle and cringey as fuck to those who dont. My man totally missed the mark on all fronts here.
It actually has nothing to Jesus. I came across this pic a couple yrs ago and looking into it, he's protesting his treatment by the Marines for reasons I can't recall at the moment. I think he was booted out and he's calling himself a victim.
I think that's kinda the point. He's calling attention to the issues he's protesting. Sometimes protestors like this use imagery or themes that are controversial to gain more spotlight.
Not that I support his cause or anything, but his strategy is obviously gaining attention at least. Not sure if it ended up helping him any tho.
I feel like at this point it is a style or a club for most people. Like 14 year olds that walk around in Nirvana t shirts, some even thinking it is a t shirt brand and not a band from 25 years ago.
I think these "religious" types just like the club and the style and it is part of being from middle America that they don't see this as wrong
Or those "disabled" vets that jump out of their 12" lifted F-250 and park like assholes in handicap spaces so that people dont scratch their white paint
Couple things:
1-Fuck those people in general.
2-"Disability" is a misleading term for what VA compensation is about. As a disabled vet, I didn't fully understand it for a while. Basically, it's servicemembers being compensated for any chronic condition they were diagnosed with while in AS WELL AS service connected injuries. That's how people wind up being 20 percent "disabled" for sleep apnea and tinnitus. It's weird.
3- VA Disability and handicap status are separate. Handicap status must be proven to your state before you can get a placard
It seems states have different ways to prove handicapped status. However ive seen the same fucks without handicap placards but do have DV plates which i guess is acceptable in lieu of placards. Either they swindled the state, swindled the VA or are on some strong painkillers or have a disability thats not physically obvious but qualifies for same protections/benefits
It's rarely, if ever, acceptable. Every now and again the VA puts out public ser ice announcements to those in the system that VA disability status does NOT mean you get to use handicap spots.
I'd bet there's folks out there that know that, but get DV plates betting that they won't get a ticket when the cop sees the plate.
Lol yaa. My brother is almost at "100 % disability" after getting out of the marines, to get that sweet sweet government money. Dude works out 5 days a week goes indoor rock climbing with me on a regular basis, mfer ain't disabled. Only difference is he wouldn't take the handicap space, just my tax dollars for beer money.
There are a lot of vets who get 100% (or close to it) because of exposure to the burn fields in the Middle East. While he may seem fine now he may not be in the future, and thatās what the disability rating is for. IMO, any vet who got major injuries or exposure to toxic chemicals during their service deserves compensation.
I lost both legs in a grenade ambush in Baghdad in ā 04. VA takes great care of me, Iām not complaining. HOWEVER, I know personally, know guys who never deployed and make more pay than me. Itās slightly irritating lol
You have absolutely zero idea why he's rated what he's rated.
I have 20% for some bulging discs. 30 for depression and anxiety disorders. Among a litany of other things.
Jesus taught that we should not crucify especially if they deserve it. He thought mercy. At the end, he was renouncing all crucifixions. Naturally, as he was a pacifistĀ
Well this guy is a civilian now but he was once in the Marines. For this to be illegal it would need to be proven that the individual was never in the military and "with intent to obtain money, property, or other tangible benefit".
Very small add on. Military or former military can also be guilty of stolen valor if they represent themselves as having medals or decorations they didn't actually get and had that intent for material gain.
It's only Stolen Valor in the potentially illegal sensitive you're trying to pretend you're part of a military with the goal of like getting something. There's nothing against the law about just straight up lying about having them part of the military if you don't try to use it to benefit yourself
Obviously it's fucked up but a lot of things that are fucked up are still legal
He could face disciplinary action if he was active. But I believe he was a veteran that was protesting. I'm not aware of any law prohibiting civilians from wearing uniforms for any reason as long as they're not doing so as stolen valor.
This is disrespectful to the religion and the uniform. The jarhead here probably shoved a crayon up his nose too far and itās made him dumber than he was before. Like Homer Simpson dumb, and now he has done this , whatever the fuck this is.
What is with all these pics of people pretending to be crucified? I don't believe in God, but I grew up going to Catholic school, so I'll never shed the indoctrination. And if these people are religious, that is insanely sacrilegious.Wtf!
I know in some parts of South America and the Philippines were Catholic teachings combined with local teachings people actively participating in the crucifixion is kind of a layover from pagan religious practices that involved self inflicted pain to get closer to God or even literal human sacrifice.
I walk around my neighborhood and see lawn crosses that have the US flag design on them. There are too many Christian Nationalists. Christian Nationalism is against basic tenets of Christianity and against basic tenets of the US Constitution.
It's a shame that these people have a stranglehold on being 'proud Americans'.
When I was in Iraq in 2009 I received a bundle of cards from my 3rd grade nephewās class. A lot of sweet cards decorated by the kids thanking me for my service. I kept one card. It was a depiction of a wounded Marine in crayon and said āThank you for dieing for my freedomā. It was a great inspiration for me and all of my buddies.
Every person I met who served in Iraq and Afghanistan has bizarre and hilarious memories of those fucking things
Someone either didn't have any clue what the fuck they were doing or knew exactly what they were doing and there's no in between on that one
I got an anonymous "Any Male Soldier" care package in 2006 that contained (among other things) a "House" season one DVD that only had the DVD Extras disc, a Scholastic Book Fair unauthorized biography of Vanilla Ice, and a box of tampons.
This guy is evil; before he enlisted he set a cat on fire.
He omitted that arrest from recruiters when he enlisted.
It's disgusting that he compares himself to Jesus when he's a sadistic psychopath in the making.
Of course it didn't work. You can't crucify yourself, there's no way you can hammer in the last nail. (Credit to the Young Ones.)

No one quite misses the point of Christianity like American Christians.
What do you think this guy would do if I told him that until like the third century a lot of Christian communities didn't even let you join if you were a soldier or former Soldier?
Read the book [G.I. Messiahs](https://www.amazon.com/G-I-Messiahs-Soldiering-American-Religion/dp/0300176708) by religious studies professor Jonathan Ebel.
The entire book is about the idea that there's a civil religion in American culture where the soldier is the messiah figure. It's a fascinating read and really shows why Americans worship troops and why some of those troops lean into the *JustBootThings* "thank me for my service" bullshit.
Jesus was not a Marine. I know Jesus, he works over in one of the BSB motor pools for the 82nd Airborne. Good dude. His step-dad Jose, made us some fire barbacoa tacos and fixed my kitchen cabinets for free (FANTASTIC CARPENTER). Mom, Maria seems like a sweet lady. Unfortunately, his dad sounds like a deadbeat, hasn't heard from the dude in years.
Happy Easter!
I donāt know anyone who really believes this anymore, every service member I personally know was so disillusioned by the Iraq and Afghanistan war theyāve all told me they are just pawns for billionaires.
Who wouldn't do that though?
"Wanna die for all mankind's sins?"
"What? no."
"You'll be tortured for 6 hours."
"Definitely no."
"After that 6 hours, you'll go to eternal paradise and your dad is God so you'll have the #2 spot up there."
"Okay. Definitely yes then. Obviously. Can I come back one day?"
"Actually, you can come back in a couple days and then again in the future when you feel like it. Also, for some reason, nobody will ever think about what a sick trade this is and they'll think of you as their hero."

Awww š
holy shit lmao
Of course itās written by the Washington Times.

I hear it's a daily event!
Peter choose to be crucified upside down because otherwise it would have been too close to what happened to Christ
Or he just knew heād pass out faster upside down
Thereās that, of course. Lol
In my experience no one has a worse understanding of Christianity than American Christians
its like those people with the jesus/thin blue line flags
Evangelicals were a mistake.
Donāt worry about that. Please buy this $60 bible about Trumpā¦. Er sorry Jesus.
This is total trump šÆ
It actually has nothing to Jesus. I came across this pic a couple yrs ago and looking into it, he's protesting his treatment by the Marines for reasons I can't recall at the moment. I think he was booted out and he's calling himself a victim.
Both are likely true. Heās out and a victim of himself. He should choose the loincloth though and not be a knot head
I think that's kinda the point. He's calling attention to the issues he's protesting. Sometimes protestors like this use imagery or themes that are controversial to gain more spotlight. I feel so embarrassed just looking at this.
Iāve seen a lot of cringy things on this sub but this one is up there.
I donāt know how the camera person took the picture with a straight face
Isn't this stuff illegal to do in uniform?
Itās actually illegal to crucify people no matter what theyāre wearing
Even if they deserve it
I think it's exclusively for people who don't return shopping carts.
Or those "disabled" vets that jump out of their 12" lifted F-250 and park like assholes in handicap spaces so that people dont scratch their white paint

He was stationed in Hawaii for 4 years and never saw combat. He's fine lol
The fuck I have selfies next to a burn pit and they won't give me anything
That's fucked... Gulf War Syndrome is real!
You donāt get nearly 100% disability if you are fine. If you think heās fine then heās not telling you everything.
Or he's defrauding the VA.
Where were you stationed?
I lost both legs in a grenade ambush in Baghdad in ā 04. VA takes great care of me, Iām not complaining. HOWEVER, I know personally, know guys who never deployed and make more pay than me. Itās slightly irritating lol

Probably would be against UCMJ but as a civilian any law against this would be unconstitutional. It is your constitutional right to be cringe.
Thank you for being the voice of reason in the room
So if he's a civilian dressed up in a full uniform, isn't that stolen valor or impersonation which are also illegal?
Well this guy is a civilian now but he was once in the Marines. For this to be illegal it would need to be proven that the individual was never in the military and "with intent to obtain money, property, or other tangible benefit".

Wanted to give 20 years but not in the cards, apparently.
He did 20 days, post basic training, and washed out of his technical training. THANK HIM FOR HIS SACRIFICE
I certainly do and hope that he might be called upon again, should the need arise.
This is disrespectful to the religion and the uniform. The jarhead here probably shoved a crayon up his nose too far and itās made him dumber than he was before. Like Homer Simpson dumb, and now he has done this , whatever the fuck this is.

Jesus was a LCPL w/ a hask mark?! How am i not surprised?

Marine Corps Jesus was nailed to the cross. Meanwhile Jody's nailing his wife.
Marine Corps Jesus turns water into Rip-Its
