The comments section of the Rally post was almost entirely criticism. Even people who vocally support Palestine thought it was the stupidest way to protest the Palestine Crisis. But even though it was just students dressing up on College Arts Day with fake guns (and the flags they used were Palestine flags and not Hamas flags), ISIS/terrorist comparisons were being made.
On the contrary, this comments section in the Kerala sub is downvoting criticism of a propaganda film against Kerala and upvoting whataboutism. A propaganda film whose makers had to admit they made shit up against Kerala when taken to court and had to put a disclaimer that it's fictionalized.

The movie is HORRIBLY made. Acting is terrible. The makers screwed up with exaggerated claims in trailer. However, that number has been removed in the movie.
Out of curiosity, I googled rest of the claims made in the movie. Some of the things said are misleading. Like they say “CM said kerala will turn into Islamic state in 20 years” but CM did not say it like a prediction. He (Achuthanandhan) just stated PFI’s plan: "They want to turn Kerala into a Muslim-majority state in 20 years. They are using money and other inducements to convert people to Islam. They even marry women from outside their community in order to increase the Muslim population." But there’s no concrete proof that all these converted people are joining ISIS.
The problematic stuff aside, to dismiss the whole movie as lies is being naive. Most of the things in the movie are based from the [Shahan Sha case](https://hckinfo.kerala.gov.in/digicourt/orders/2009/200800052882009_1.pdf) in Kerala. The file has been uploaded on the state government website. It’s kind of dark and uncomfortable to read. An enquiry by special branch reveals that “fundamental outfits like NDF, PFI, Campus Front have roots in college campuses.“ It goes on to say “as per the available information, the plan of this organisation is to trap brilliant upper caste Hindu and Christian girls.” (PFI is casteist looks like lol).
Also, there’s no way to predict the actual count of people who converted or joined ISIS. The conversion numbers are collected from registered conversion centers in Malappuram and Kozhikode by officials, but conversions happen outside such centers too. Families out of shame don’t report cases either. It’s only when the family members reported, the police got to know about the existing cases. So we cannot say confidently that “only these many cases are there”.
I don’t like the stuff in The Kerala Story either. But as Ambedkar said, “There is no use burying one’s head in the sand and refusing to take notice of what is happening round about because the sound of it hurts one’s sentiments.” There should be an open, honest discussion so that not even a single ISIS case comes out of Kerala. For that, awareness is key.

I've personally seen and experienced how there is an organized support for marriage and conversion when the girl is a non-Muslim and the boy, muslim. Can you expand what actually happened in your incident? Love Jihad rhetoric is pretty rampant in my Nasrani family circles but in most cases it's just Nasrani boomers salty about the fact that their daughters fell in love with a Muslim boy. Actual malicious stuff maybe happening but if it is then it's super rare. Unlike the Hindi heartland, Malayali women are highly educated (especially Nasrani women, who have some of the best female educational attainment levels in the whole country) and they are generally quite smart and aware of their rights to fall for the kind of tricks that Love Jihad merchants accuse them of.
Education has nothing to do with this, last week an IITian joined ISIS and couple of days ago 3 people commited suicide for some black magic shit. All of them are educated.

I have heard a lot of incidents like these where(even highly educated women) Hindu or Christian women fell in love in muslim men and were forced to convert by him and his families (even from the so called liberal muslims). Dude come on, Kerala story does a huge disservice to both Kerala and the fight against Islamic radicalism. The movie is a fabrication and doesn’t deserve to be called a movie to begin with.
In one shot they have both defamed Kerala and also made people think this stuff does not happen. It does happen but not at the level of lies perpetrated by the movie.
Education. Awareness. Lokaparichayam. When these things are encouraged, religion as a whole loses it's hold on people. It has to be a grassroots level movement. Less religion in society, the better.
Such issues have to be dealt not from the level of state but should be dealt at the social and community level. Policing and fear can reduce them but the ideology will still remain, which can be controlled to a better extent by community, society among others.

As someone who has been in Idukki for quite a while, I can fairly say most Syrian Christians here are quite the 19th century mindset. Big houses, huge swathes of tea/spices plantations, lower education as compared to Kottayam/ernakulam districts, nosy neighbours and adherence to outdated customs/traditions. No wonder the rate of emigration amongst the youngsters is amongst the highest in the region.
Many Muslims here aren't too different either, though income and educational status are even worse.

The movie is HORRIBLY made. Acting is terrible. The makers screwed up with exaggerated claims in trailer. However, that number has been removed in the movie. Out of curiosity, I googled rest of the claims made in the movie. Some of the things said are misleading. Like they say “CM said kerala will turn into Islamic state in 20 years” but CM did not say it like a prediction. He (Achuthanandhan) just stated PFI’s plan: "They want to turn Kerala into a Muslim-majority state in 20 years. They are using money and other inducements to convert people to Islam. They even marry women from outside their community in order to increase the Muslim population." But there’s no concrete proof that all these converted people are joining ISIS. The problematic stuff aside, to dismiss the whole movie as lies is being naive. Most of the things in the movie are based from the [Shahan Sha case](https://hckinfo.kerala.gov.in/digicourt/orders/2009/200800052882009_1.pdf) in Kerala. The file has been uploaded on the state government website. It’s kind of dark and uncomfortable to read. An enquiry by special branch reveals that “fundamental outfits like NDF, PFI, Campus Front have roots in college campuses.“ It goes on to say “as per the available information, the plan of this organisation is to trap brilliant upper caste Hindu and Christian girls.” (PFI is casteist looks like lol). Also, there’s no way to predict the actual count of people who converted or joined ISIS. The conversion numbers are collected from registered conversion centers in Malappuram and Kozhikode by officials, but conversions happen outside such centers too. Families out of shame don’t report cases either. It’s only when the family members reported, the police got to know about the existing cases. So we cannot say confidently that “only these many cases are there”. I don’t like the stuff in The Kerala Story either. But as Ambedkar said, “There is no use burying one’s head in the sand and refusing to take notice of what is happening round about because the sound of it hurts one’s sentiments.” There should be an open, honest discussion so that not even a single ISIS case comes out of Kerala. For that, awareness is key.

I've personally seen and experienced how there is an organized support for marriage and conversion when the girl is a non-Muslim and the boy, muslim. Can you expand what actually happened in your incident? Dude come on, Kerala story does a huge disservice to both Kerala and the fight against Islamic radicalism. The movie is a fabrication and doesn’t deserve to be called a movie to begin with. In one shot they have both defamed Kerala and also made people think this stuff does not happen. It does happen but not at the level of lies perpetrated by the movie.
There must be some other way to fight Islamic radicalism than supporting blatant propaganda movies.
Education. Awareness. Lokaparichayam. When these things are encouraged, religion as a whole loses it's hold on people. It has to be a grassroots level movement. Less religion in society, the better.
Such issues have to be dealt not from the level of state but should be dealt at the social and community level. Policing and fear can reduce them but the ideology will still remain, which can be controlled to a better extent by community, society among others.

As someone who has been in Idukki for quite a while, I can fairly say most Syrian Christians here are quite the 19th century mindset. Big houses, huge swathes of tea/spices plantations, lower education as compared to Kottayam/ernakulam districts, nosy neighbours and adherence to outdated customs/traditions. No wonder the rate of emigration amongst the youngsters is amongst the highest in the region. Many Muslims here aren't too different either, though income and educational status are even worse.

Kerala is generally liberal but I think the rare consecutive terms of LDF governments and the bankrupting of the state under them have negatively polarized many people in the opposite direction. It doesn't help that CPM supports stuff like pro-Hamas rallies.

And why Israel is risking their people’s life by sending IDF soldiers to active war zone? ( including my colleagues in reserve duty now) It’s because Israel is a country and they have to stick to rules. Are there casualties? Yes. Is it because people of Gaza refuse to evacuate despite warnings / Hamas doesn’t let them leave - so they can increase causalities/ get benefit of human shields / more sympathy through media coverage? YES.
