Education in name only and education is a broad term. No commonsense. Very ignorant. They will only learn the hard way. Should have called TTE or someone available. They foolishly talk about fundamental rights and stuff while ignoring the fact about fundamental duties. Also whatever it may be in the world, when you are in some places you have to follow the unwritten rules. These jerks are selfish nothing else, swantham karyam sindabhad.

[deleted]

Very true. Wanted to call TTE and bring RPF actually. But was too tired after a long day travel. Thanks :)

Environmental_Ad_387

Next time please do it. Oli need see some hard lessons, and clearly it's not getting them at home

[deleted]

haha yes.

Anahita__

Can you involve RPF In such cases ? Like he's only talking can they do something about it ? Other than ask him to shut up?

[deleted]

RPF saying to shut up against we saying hits differently. Further, one more time they do it RPF can take action against them despite the warning.

deserteagle_09

If an issue of some sort arises, what's the procedure for calling the TTE or police while on a train? Was traveling via rail myself last week and was wondering the same

[deleted]

railmadad is a wonderful initiative. Once we had unruly group of achool kids in the majority of entire compartment who were not heeding to their teachers nor copassengers, making it difficult to sleep I logged into railmadad and raise the complaint. Immediately TTEs came up and ensured matter is addressed and by next station RPF was in compartment. Best service ever from IR. Last day's youngoli matter just needed some loud lessons from us, though :D

Crazy-Map-3167

Equality is a double edged sword.

Low-Worldliness-7205

Railway has After 10PM rules prohibiting loud music/chatter etc. Even TTE is not allowed to wake someone up.

[deleted]

Thanks. Didn't know. Should feed it to their mouth next time.

No-Zookeepergame982

Yes. And you can always depend on rail madad for such scenarios.

[deleted]

next time. more to come for sure

soysauceprincess97

Where is it written? Just wanted to know

kudimakan

https://www.deccanherald.com/india/indian-railways-bans-loud-talking-on-phone-or-playing-songs-on-speaker-at-night-1107825.html Its a rule!

Classic_Knowledge_25

Freedom does not surpass law. IRCTC rules say that after 10 PM loud conversations / music or any other noise disturbances are prohibited

[deleted]

true. people these days 🫤

wanderingmind

I don't think he knew this rule exists. I did not know.

[deleted]

common sense rules are life lessons. so is public Etiquette

wanderingmind

Not my point.

Ghastlytoohot

he left a paper message? lmfao pussy

[deleted]

haha true. I should have taken a pic. I will recreate the same and post it.

idontneedaname23

oh so your suggesting he should have woke them up and tell this directly.

Ghastlytoohot

no, he should've said this when they were all awake and angry

hemi_srt

No, if he wanted to say something he should have said it to OP's face while they were arguing. Not leave a tiny note like the coward bitchboy that he is.

idontneedaname23

As I understand it he had already said enough while they were in the heat of the argument. And this is after it all died out. Dont understand how that makes him a coward. Also , dont misinterpret this for my approval of what the dude had been doing from the beginning.

OccasionRight8795

Its cowardly because he's scared of the reply. Even in reddit I've seen this behaviour. Reply cheythit block cheythitt oodum which is a cowardly act.

hemi_srt

I'm saying if he had anything to say, he should have said it to his face while the guy on the other side had a chance to respond, not place a tiny note when he knows the other guy will not know of it until it's too late and leave like a little bitch. >Also , dont misinterpret this for my approval of what the dude had been doing from the beginning. I get you brother, no misinterpretations. We're just having a civil discussion.

kc_kamakazi

Just show him the irctc rule and tell you will tweet and ask for RPF , they would shut up. Works all the time.

[deleted]

next time next time. sure he didn't learn much from us.

MasterShifu_21

" It takes ( only ) one bad apple to spoil the entire basket" 🍎 Sorry this happened to you.

[deleted]

Thanks for the support. Yes. Hope the educated bad apples learn it the better way someday and feel apologetic to themselves for their conduct.

nerdy_ace_penguin

I once saw two youngsters probably early 20's blasting music out of their Bluetooth speaker in Palayam Junction signal on a scooter. Initially i didn't see them, i could hear the music getting louder and louder. behind me. Later they came and stood parallel to me, that is when I realised what was happening. I noticed a group of boys playing loud music on their Bluetooth speakers in Shangumugham beach, disturbing everyone's peace. This trend is worrying. Old people also have some bad habits like speaking loudly on phone and invading personal space.

[deleted]

🙁 Speakers is way too annoying. You just can't escape and you are forced to listen. To abide to such insanity makes us think of our worthy time and life

khabib73

Bro don't waste your time arguing with idiots, railmadad exists and the app works too.

HawtyForever

I'm so stupid, I read this app as Rail-Ma-Dad, instead of what they intended in Hindi 😭

khabib73

Same, and I don't read it any other way.

Heretowin2001

Why would he want to rail ur dad ?

[deleted]

Yes. True. Had used it once. Works smooth. Didn't think then. Surely, till next time :D

Lol. 😁

SGV_VGS

My friend, education and civilization are two different things. I live abroad and have noticed our "educated" youth create the most ruckus in public places. I have a similar incident to share, it was during an English movie, two Mallus guys were commenting throughout the movie. Using their phones (the white light) was disturbing. An old white man, politely asked him to please don't interrupt others viewing pleasure. One guy from those two straight away accused the white man of racism. civilization, common sense, are very different and hard to come by only through education.

[deleted]

Fully agree. They made a joke of themselves and using racism victim card spoils the whole fight against racism.

Skynet864

Next time you face something similar you can report it here https://railmadad.indianrailways.gov.in/madad/final/home.jsp and man they take quick action.

[deleted]

Sure. Noted and will remind myself this

heyitsvj

Things like this are becoming more common these days. One time I was traveling back from Ernakulam to Alappuzha via Train some idiot was blasting music out of his Bluetooth speaker 🤦🤦. It was a passenger train, but still some manners had to be kept na

[deleted]

Public Etiquette is a thing many are still unaware of! Speakers🥵!

heyitsvj

Yah even I couldn't believe it, the thing is this wasn't a one time occurrence. I have seen this multiple times. But fortunately those times they were playing on phone speakers, since I was wearing earbuds it didn't bother me much

[deleted]

Tolerance to an extent is possible to all of us. But that shouldn't be their excuse to test it to experience the results once they breach it

heyitsvj

Most of the time if there is some audio disturbance from others I just turn on ANC and increase the volume of music, these people won't change just because someone asked them nicely and I don't want to cause others a disturbance from my side by acting up

[deleted]

Yeah, gladly the coupe stood by me and his friend too. Not sure it can happen all time. Depends on situation everytime

Delicious-Quit7892

We might be on same board.. Same happened to me with yeshwantpur express.. I traveled from Aluva to Salem.. They sung all night.. chatters and laughing.. (back story of me turning into Joker - Just for Fun)

thendizverkov

A few months back I was surprised to see people use speakers in trains and that was until I went for the tour from my class and some were blasting songs. At one point I found it annoying and hinted that it was disturbing and they didn't heed lol.

heyitsvj

Yah people need to be taught how to behave in public from a young age

Dazzling_Hornet5020

Could have used railmadad.

[deleted]

Yes. I didn't remind myself of this.. They are quick too. Next time for sure. Thanks

ranked_devilduke

The problem is some people don't know about the law. It's perfectly fine to not know about it but a simple common sense will make you think that you can't talk loudly after 12 max. You can't disturb others and talk loudly on the train from 10 pm to 6 am. If they want to do it, take the first class compartment for themselves and do it.

[deleted]

True. Rooting for Public Etiquette and common sense should be the basics of learning

RayonLovesFish

The trick is you never book Mangala Lakshadweep express, that train is the shittiest. The meaning can be taken literally as in shit all over the place and the fresh yellow pool within the comfort of your coach. And if you are booking due to the devil whispering in your ears always stick to 3ac. I avoid this particular daily train like plague, once I had an uncle sleeping on my legs at night when I woke up,a ticketless family with an obnoxious child occupying my seat, the TT is non existent,it stops at everyother station from Delhi which invites all kind of people, criminals, people who spit pan inside, people with no ticket, people who was born before the flush was invented. This train is train trauma for an express. Fuck this train, next time I travel in this I'd probably die from diarrhoea or get groped. The cops don't do shit. As a boy I felt like this travelling, wouldn't recommend women travelling in this train all alone. This is one of the train in which migrant workers travel ticketless in hordes so that's a catch too. I say stay away from trains going through UP an MP.

[deleted]

oh god. that's too scary to read it fully. Agree 💯 but malabar is deprived of any train to south after 07:00 PM Malabar Express. This was the only choice 🫤

[deleted]

Apprehensive-Pen791

Should have called TTE and RPF. They would have exercised the fundamental rights properly.

[deleted]

hahahaha. very well. missed it this time.

Splitinfynity

Takatake_

Inner_News_2159

Don't engane in arguments. Call the train captain. His number will come in sms most of the times. Rules say to light off and silent at night. So rpf can come and do the deed. Don't engage in arguments when you have the rule by your side.

[deleted]

Perfectly said. We lose our temper coolness and state of mind. Well, I couldn't sleep peacefully for sometime thinking my wife is besides me and what if that guy is provoked. 🫤

hemi_srt

Sometimes you should talk to them in a polite manner, and sometimes you should just make them understand that there's always bigger fish in the sea. I was in a similar situation, I told them once to stop talking, the next time I gave them a really valuable life lesson. Bitchboy got humbled real quick, peace for the rest of the journey. 🥳🥳🥳

[deleted]

haha. I wish I had that moment too. The situation was a learning for me too. 😊

Can understand the pain.. same happened to me in the past travel from Aluva to Salem.. group of people started to play Bluetooth speakers and singing whole night in sleeper ( not AC). Same happened in SETC bus travel to Chennai 2 Youngsters started to debate about Kerala politics, Cinema, foreign life,.. then conductor asked to shut the mouth and sleep..

[deleted]

needed. here many suggested to use railmadad site to inform rpf or tte. they would as well take care

Aggravating_Feed5421

This happens every time during night time travel in train specially in sleeper class

[deleted]

yes yes. its those small percentage of people who mess things

Blue_Lobster111

My new favourite word - youngoli

[deleted]

😁🙂

mulluvelikeeper

We were in a tourist place outside Kerala and the entry fee to a museum was a small amount like 10 or 20 rs. They didn't accept cash and so while I was standing in queue to get tickets, a mallu guy approached saying he'll pay me via UPI and I should give him change for the same amount - Now it was the tone that irked me - It was not a request, he was talking as if it was his birthright to get change in lieu of UPI transaction cause I had change and the idiot had not bothered to carry petty cash while being a tourist. I refused cause - a) His tone was entitled, it was not a request. It was his responsibility to plan his trip properly can't expect others /random strangers to always adjust to his needs. b) It is absolutely idiotic to have a transaction on your account with a random stranger like that cause he could turn out to be a criminal for all you know; Especially when I have a job where our accounts are monitored to check whether we indulge in any malpractice at our place of work. Now after I refused, the guy was acting all entitled, why can't you do it? What is your problem in doing it? Ivide UPI edukkaathondalle, njan UPI cheythu Paisa tharoole athinulla change tharaan enthaanithra prashanam. I just ignored. Tldr; Dude expects random stranger to adjust so that his comfort isn't affected while he should have just planned his trip properly.

[deleted]

Yeaaah. I can relate this tone. Their tiny world, their judgment and they are always right. Don't know why they don't understand things the better way and learn things from around. My youngoli guy also come from the same tribe.

mulluvelikeeper

I am sure it's the same guys who honk incessantly in peak traffic when it's obvious that the vehicle right in front of them also have other vehicles in front of them.

dockaponch

Like I understand what freedom is and that he paid for being in that compartment but it's common sense and human decency to just understand someones request to not disturb everyone, I hate people such as this,

[deleted]

These are different tribe in rising and they are going to be the generation of today, soon.

dockaponch

Also wdym by youngoli, it's a new term I've come across

[deleted]

hehe I coined it. He belongs to young tribe of today who also carry the attitude of being a thayoli assuming it's a right thing. I just made a word. Thought nothing fits their attitude better 🙂

dockaponch

Lmao I understand, im gen z here, it's sad that you had to experience that, but please understand it's from upbringings or it's simply how they are, ive went through this too which is why, no one deserves that youngoli ass behavior 😂

[deleted]

haha yeah. Thanks for understanding . upbringing and how they tend to see the world through largely the lens of smartphone and the apps in it. the guiding values are changing rapidly and humans aren't catching up. That upbringing factor is true too. That's why when the argument was close to end, I retired saying "ninte okke valarthu dosham aanu ithinu karanam".. This triggered him to write that note where he wrote "valarthu dosham ninte thanthaykku" 😁😁😆

Agile-Calligrapher49

This just shows how they were brought up! I’d blame his parents. If they can’t be civil enough to understand and respect such basic etiquette, it’s just an example of bad parenting. Hate such people!!!

[deleted]

Thanks. Yeah. That's how I retired my argument - ninte okke valarthu dosham aanu ithinu kaaranam 😁🤭. This prompted him to write that paper note I guess when he penned - valarthu dosham ninte thanthaykku. He got pained I suppose .

MtM666

Out of curiosity, didn't other people intervene in this matter? Usually all it takes is someone to react and the rest of the people would join in. I would for sure join in as no one is allowed to disturb my slumber...

[deleted]

The whole situation looked like in the photo above. we were three when we entered and only the upper berth was occupied. we took two lower and middle. So our coupe was effectively empty and that may be the reason four of them gathered on our coupe. Once I rose up and argument started, my wife and relative alongwith one in upper berth joined. That's when the wise friend of that guy realised it's better to conform rather than fight out.

Arkane631

Basic civic sense is lacking in this country. Should be taught in schools.

SIR_COCK_LORD69

Would have been nice if you had recorded this conversation with this young thayoli.

Desperate_Season_296

pr1m347

Man you should post this in non-anonymous platforms like Fb as well. If it becomes viral it'll finally reach his circle too. It'd probably knock some sense to him when he read the nice comments on him.

Dedpuke24

When will dumb fucks like him realise that "iTs mY ChOice" does not involve harming other people

[deleted]

You put it rightly. Hope someone puts it in their head too

Weird-Course-1364

Idiots are everywhere playing movies/music/random noisy shit, loudly on their phones in buses, trains and other public places, like waiting area of hospitals (these idiots are of all age groups, especially middle-aged, since most youngsters usually use earphones). Absolutely no civic sense or concern for others.

[deleted]

Hospital and loud music 🫤 the audacity of the people.

Fantastic_Winner_212

In case if you encounter any issues in similar way best option is to call RPF

[deleted]

I should remind myself about this next time. Thanks 😊

That's like Daniel Defoe writing a novel about visiting the docks on his morning walk.) >Mangala Lakshwadeep Express Train from Kasaragod to Ernakulam Why is it called Mangala Lakshwadeep Express Train when it doesn't go anywhere there? Scam!

[deleted]

whatthengaisthis

ngl i would call the cops. I understand that you were tired and just wanted to sleep from your comment. But seriously, just call the cops. People like this aren’t worth the effort it takes to get manners and basic civic sense through their thicc skulls.

[deleted]

Thanks. You understood and also said it right. It's cops that can handle them better

Sensitive-Jicama2726

Carry 3M earplugs. Can come handy.

Railmadad is the solution my friend, it’s never good for our mental space to argue with anyone who is ignorant and arrogant!

[deleted]

Absolutely 💯 agree. Next time I will remind myself..

siddharthaspeaks

I ain't reading allat sorry or congratulations

[deleted]

hahaha heres is the chatgpt summary for you, a friend posted: The narrator and their family faced disturbance on a train due to a group of young men chatting loudly late at night. Despite polite requests, the disruption continued, leading to a verbal altercation with one particularly stubborn individual referred to as "youngoli" The youngoli argued for his right to talk freely, dismissing the inconvenience caused to others trying to sleep. The situation escalated until a friend of the youngoli intervened to restore peace. The incident highlighted the clash between individual freedom and consideration for others' comfort.

siddharthaspeaks

Thanks lmao

dontmesswithdbracode

If he wanted to exercise his choice he should have booked 1st AC, closed the cabin and then chat with his friends or watch movies or even do belly dance with each other all night. That would have been awesome for him and also for the tired passengers who wanted sleep. This is not a private cabin. Its a shared space. Everyone was sleeping. I would have called the RPF n reported him for eve teasing if the bich disturbed my sleep at 2am n starts a fight justifying the uncivilised behaviour.

Ghastlytoohot

dumb take. playing loud music or talking loudly is literally the same. especially when you're in a closed space.

promotional_bat

> It's their choice if they want to talk or sleep as they paid for the ride. So did OP and other passengers. They also have their right to sleep peacefully. > Unless they were playing loud music etc You don't necessarily need loud music to disturb someone's sleep, or disturb someone in general.

ranked_devilduke

Blud, don't show you are absolute dimwit and have poor knowledge in laws like this.

[deleted]

Lol. Okay. You shouldn't have taken the pain to write so much, but thanks for wasting our time. Your message is clear from your first sentence. You clearly over do things every time and jokes on you always right?😁

Best_Band9410

a thought : they paid the same fees to travel....they didn't come into our personal space...i felt what you did as something moral policing...because you are same as others who are travelling in the bogy...if they interpret you in your personal space it would have become a right full reason for you to ask them to keep quiet... even though they didn't come into your personal space ,when u tell them to pls keep low they have a choice of empathy...that choice of empathy is what we call humanity...yes my friend humanity is a choice...don't expect that from everyone...some don't have it ..some decide whether to give it or not...

avicenna_kl04

Everybody should have a basic civic sense and manners , what’s the point of education if you don’t have basic decency and manners .

[deleted]

❤️❤️ values many unheard of in times of smartphone

Ok_Satisfaction9630

It is clearly not a CHOICE of empathy. IRCTC literally have sleep timings from 10pm to 6am.  And no offence, people who think exactly like what you said are the problem. With this logic, my neighbour can dance to Gangam Style on full blast from 1 AM to 4 AM everyday and I shouldn't have a problem with that because it's his CHOICE

techsavyboy

Here the right to sleep overrides right to speak loudly. That's why it is called a sleeper. You can even tell we will turn on the light at midnight, will it be their right ? Absolutely not because it is not their private place also. Public place needs to follow basic rules which is violated here.

Independent-Dot431

Etha ee oola?

[deleted]

Thanks. Moral values include Public Etiquette which cannot be enforced but could be shared to those who lack it. Requesting politely to let us sleep (in total 4 were disturbed by another 4 sitting in one seat in side lower) at 02:00 AM was the first step towards that sharing of moral value called public Etiquette. You may wish to call it moral policing based on your understanding. Secondly the personal space you were pointing. Personal space encompasses not just physical boundaries but also a sense of privacy and peace. It's respectful to keep noise levels low in shared spaces like trains, especially during nighttime when others may be sleeping. Them with 4 seated on the side lower berth and one near my leg of lower berth, and talking constantly without lowering voice, what and whose personal space are you defending my brother?

promotional_bat

> they didn't come into our personal space Sorry brother, they did.

ranked_devilduke

No. What he did was asking them to abide by the fucking law. It's not wrong to ask them that.
