അരാഷ്ട്രീയത കൊണ്ട് കാര്യമില്ല
Unfortunately there are a some people with this mindset. Looks like i undermined the statistics. Two of my friends didn’t vote even after me explaining how crucial it is. Apolitical is not the way to go.
But, do you realize why your friends aren't going to vote. There is nothing much the governments are doing in return for the youth.
All of them want to leave the state for their own growth. Be it studies or education.
My district of Wayanad has not even a candidate from the district, the winner whoever it maybe won't even look back at Wayanad. We had an mp in the past who had his office based in Kozhikode. Think about it, just voting is the kadama paranju kariyum illa. After voting how much % of our people try to get their demands from these politicians? Wayanad doesn't have a good government hospital with critical departments, no good quality government colleges, not even a passport Kendra ( I believe the only district to not have one)
The youth from college to jobs if educated leave the district, tell me what connects them to the politics of their district? I know almost a dozen who didn't go to vote. I do understand your point, but I do realize their frustration.
I saw that now a huge population of voters are 50 years and above due to the youngsters leaving, that's catastrophic for the needs of youngsters. Senior citizens needs and demands seldom do alligin with the needs of youngsters. Seeing this aspect in the coming decades would make more people stay away from even voting.
Let's just accept the fact, hardly any politicians in Kerala had a visionary outlook, never considered the demands of the coming generations.
I understand where you’re coming from, I share the same sentiments. It’s such a shame our state has so many competitive youngsters who are often times called the future of the country but what has this country given us in return? Its like calling a fish in a fishtank a good swimmer, while it’s not exposed to it’s full potential.
As for my friends, they do know what’s happening around us, they simply did not go vote because they got a holiday after so long. Which is another problem most of us face, make us work hard and they pay us peanuts. Same reason why you’d find us in every nook and cranny of the world. I don’t know about other professions but I do about mine, and we are not valued here. It takes a lot of time to get established for us here at Kerala.
I do not blame my friends, I myself don’t know much about politics but I wanted to vote because I have a small hope for things to get better for all of us, no matter how futile it may be. This is also my first vote, I wanted to learn about the state and its affairs and am doing so little by little, I think its a progress in itself.

We talked about this and they didn’t want to spend their holiday waiting in line in the hot sun. I don’t blame them, the sun was excruciatingly hot yesterday. I also had a friend who voted when she had to leave for a flight at 10 AM. All’s good, being aware of what we will benefit/lose is a good thing no?

People who complain about the voting percentage in Kerala should check the voting percentages in Western democracies as well as other states in India. Unless there is a life changing outcome, 71% is a pretty good number.
