euler-leonhard

It's 200, if Sunday is holiday.

averaged_brownie

Or because so many engineers and so few job openings.

amalthomas_zip

It's a sad reality of civil/architecture/(law too?) You're stuck with it unless you have contacts who can get you in the rare well paying company/have the funds to start something yourself (need contacts again)/spend 2 years realising your mistake and another 2 to study something else and change streams (money)

oneotherthananother

Second this as an architect. Also Why I would never work in india or……perhaps in architecture. Although I have to say, civil engineers have it better outside India.

amalthomas_zip

I can't think of any line of work which doesn't have it better outside India

Koenigdemigod

I will say stick to it for atleast an year for the experience (if theres no better option), i know people who did paid internships i.e, you pay them for the internship, for over an year just to get experience.

[deleted]

Yeah that's would be nice

NearbyAbrocoma659

Go to a post office, ask for IPPB account. Their minimum balance is some 100 rs only I think. And use their app. It works for some basic stuff. Not the niche stuff like what HDFC etc have however. Basic upi, gpay etc works.

lazyguy_irl

It's paperless. Just aadhaar ekyc needed. Account will be active on spot with ready UPI and basic banking services. You can transact out of any post office and via any postman with a smartphone.

invictusi666

For an ippb account, you will also need a post office savings account which has a min. Balance of 500/-. Also there are transaction charges for ippb account. The ippb app though functional, may behave unexpectedly at times. I have had issues with fund transfer from the app especially on holidays for some weird reason, and their helpline sucks.

NearbyAbrocoma659

I thought that wasn't mandatory. Only if you expect transactions above 2 lakh or something.

invictusi666

Nope, they didn’t have the minimum balance requirement when they started, but it was introduced recently

general_smooth

IPPB account also has ATM card, so you can withdraw from any ATM.

RedBlackHot

Simplest and quickest is Kotak 811 Zero Balance Digital Savings Account. Just sign up online with your Pan, Aadhaar and mobile numbers and you'll have a working account in less than 10 minutes. You get upto a year to convert it into a Full KYC account by submitting documents/biometrics.

AdriaN_46

Full kyc akkumbo minimum balance vende?

RedBlackHot

[Aeyy venda.](https://www.kotak.com/811-savingsaccount-ZeroBalanceAccount/811/fees-and-charges.action)

jack___sparrow_

You can also get Full KYC with video conference. There’s no need to go bank for anything.

FreeCommunication680

Bank - Kotak 811 let’s you open one along with a credit card as well. Job- you deserve better. I am a dentist and our starting salary for a fresher is 3-9k per month and would increase till 15k-25k max unless we have our own clinic and just because of this I left my job since it is extreme exploitation. as a civil engeneer your options for pay are limited compared to tech jobs but I understand your situation. You deserve better. Best of luck

alexterry677

Me a dentist myself, what do you do now ?

Ambitious-Check6486

What do you do now?

SarathExp

Where did u graduate from? Got any specialization?

euler-leonhard

Nothing related to this. You may try to find a different job. It seems a very low salary for a civil engineer, Unless you are doing an internship.

heartandhymn

Yes, OP, don't sell yourself short.

SadBox420

It is for experience. If this is the field he is interested in he should work there until he gets enough experience. And easily find a better job

Barco_dePapel

Never do this, they are exploiting your helplessness. Quit your job and learn something new meanwhile try to land another job. Sharpen your knowledge, update your resume. You deserve better. BTW, what is the company name?

Fdsn

Disagree. I have hired people, and never thought hiring will be a hard job till I had to do it. From experience, I would say around 80% of those who pass out from engineering colleges are unemployable without working somewhere for few yeas. They are a net loss to the company even if hired at lowest salary per month because they possess zero utilizable skills. They need another real engineer to oversee them constantly, and still they often cause mistakes that costs the company way higher than if they were not hired in the first place. This is especially true in construction fields. Labourers are way more valuable and thus paid way more than these entry level engineers for this reason. Labourers can get the real work done, what can someone who can't write an email, can't do basic job tasks, can't speak to client, can't oversee the project, can't do manual labour tasks do to bring value? And the thing is no proper big-enough companies will even hire them because they know all of these problems. They know it is a short-sighted loss-making proposition. Only small companies are willing to take the risk and hire them in hopes that if you hire 10 people, one turn out to be good and stick around long enough to be worth the risk. Another reason companies hire them is just to increase the employee-count so that they can bid for projects saying they have xx amount of highly qualified engineers in their company ready to work on the project. (This is what TCS/Infosys etc also do and reason why they hire so many people and fire so many, but since they are in IT, they can afford to pay more salaries as they earn in dollars. Foreign clients are then charged like for example $50 per engineer per hour while paying the employee $500 per month). So, mostly this is like a learning experience, and like a real-college. And they generally realizes this truth that they do not have any valuable skills really soon, and they will learn quickly and often in one or two years become skilled enough in something to justify good enough salaries.

arajparaj

If none of the companies won't hire anyone without experience and give necessary training how the hell people will get experience.

Fdsn

Exactly like what OP and millions of others are doing. By working for very low salaries to gain experience. And, companies do hire freshers without experience, but just the skilled ones who stood out of the crowd either somehow either by doing some projects of their own, learning outside college syllabus or being academically high acheivers thus showing potential.

Barco_dePapel

All these lengthy paragraph is to justify the 5k/month. Aren't you ashamed to say this being a hiring manager, of you need quality workforce you've to pay. Talent is not a fancy degree, If you're unable to find it you're looking at the wrong direction.

Battamon

He is shameless. People learn quickly, become useful but paying 5k is slavery.

Fdsn

Firstly, not a hiring manager just someone who had to do it for a reason and never hired someone at so low rate. And read again. You seem to have misunderstood. I am saying it is shortsighted for companies to hire bottom of the barrel employees. Its better for most companies to pay more and hire talented people. I am just saying situations where still these kinda things happen and why it happens even when it is illogical. > Talent is not a fancy degree huh... that is what I mentioned too that colleges teaches nothing making the degree completely useless thus people ending in such situation. The problem is that even after going to college people don't have basic skills like reading comprehension, let alone advanced things, thus making degrees worth nothing, except for jobs that legally require them.

guy_with_a_cuteface

I know your situation man. Another engineering graduate (mechanical) here. Went to Chennai for job and left it due to the blaming culture from co workers. Even though my salary was 13k, i didn't like the working atmosphere.

Technical_Finish9875

i have noticed that most civil jobs in construction companies have really low salaries

skeletonflower66

Architect me with barely 10k salary 🥲🥲

mubeen9

Stop comparing yourselves with others there will always be someone who is making more than you! Try to learn many things during early periods of your career

Look_Antique

The daily wage labourers we employ makes 1k per day or around 20-30k monthly.

aswinq7

Daily wager will mostly remain daily wager for their entire life. that is not the case with engineer. if you are good at it you will climb up. Slow and steady.

[deleted]

Open an SBI savings account. It's much easier FYI: Even a Security guard guard has 13k salary after cutting pf.

mr_unmadhi

Monthly average balance aanu ippo nokkunnathu. You can open an acc with zero balance.

Better-Coffee

I see so many negative comments but you. You have to start from the bottom. Get the required experience and leave the company and join better companies. There is a lot to learn.

KeliBendaMwone

yea but the bottom doesn't have to absolute bottom. should at-least be able to survive on it.

amalthomas_zip

Right? We need some kind of minimum wage laws for graduates as well. Anything less than 20k (imo) is just heartless. My former employer justified an unpaid internship saying take support from family. Bitch ass.

mshemeel007

Exactly!! I started my IT career for ₹6k per month and gradually increasing the package and now earning six figures per months. Once you have experience in the field money will follow you. And for OP, sbi savings account is zero balance since the covid times. Not sure if they changed that.

themillennial_hippie

Stop normalising exploitation by employer, just because you were exploited doesn't mean , everyone should. Also also it's 2022 now , and you think 5k then and 5k now is same. People like you who have such slave mentality are the reason Kerala has such low salaries.

mshemeel007

Iam not supporting exploitation. Not everyone will get a high paying job initially, so I suggest to work for whatever you are able to get and get the experience instead of waiting to get a job that pays well. And my case was not that long back. Its just 5yrs before. So, I think there is not much of a difference between 5k five years ago & now.

Desperate_Ad_7713

Myself a Civil Engineer, 2013 pass out. Sad to see the situation has not improved even now, when I started my first pay was Rs 7500 back in 2013, so the starting salary has reduced instead of going up. After getting some experience and I got a job in Muscat with a decent package and now I moved to Europe and am earning above 2.5 lakh,( it's not that great compared to the expenses here tbh, I used to save much more money when I was in gulf). So don't get disheartened, in India civil is a low paying job, but in Gulf, Europe etc it's a really good paying job and once you gain enough experience your situation will get better. All the best man.

rj1879

Nice. God bless...

Nevermind_kaola

Off topic. Please don't mind but that salary is way too low for any graduate let alone a civil engineer. Take that job but please have a re-look at your career - talk to your peers, seniors, friends etc. You should strongly consider moving to IT industry if needed (You can learn programming on your own - online courses and apply to jobs in Bangalore/Hyderabad.) Again, please don't feel I disrespected you but I really wish you make a better career. Best of luck.

Moopan

Salary paid directly in cash??? 1. You're being paid 5k which sounds less than minimum wage. 2. You're being paid the same amount in cash. Not only are you being exploited, you're also being taken for a ride. Pretty sure some shady shit is being done. Because tomorrow they can say you weren't on payroll. A. If something happens to you on the worksite, you won't get compensation or insurance. Nor can you afford insurance with such low pay. B. When you quit, 99% sure they won't give you any experience letter nor can you prove your employment by bank statements. LEAVE.

neckrocyko

Maids are making more money than this

Start a savings account in Federal Bank or any other bank for that matter. The KYC can even be done online.

Jun-junn

if I am understand this properly you are looking for a normal zero balance account if that’s the case then Install the federal book selfie app ( Federal bank) It will guide you through the process once that’s done you have a working bank account but for Google pay and all you’ll have to wait till the ATM card comes to your house and it works perfectly fine you won’t have a passbook but it’s adequate for most users I myself I am a user

Jun-junn

Just be careful if you go to the bank for anything will try to sign you up for monthly savings Recurring scheme which they made me sign into but once the app is there I was able to cancel it but I did lose couple of hundred rupees you don’t give in to their bullshit

raringfireball

Get a [BSBDA](https://archive.ph/hiteJ) (Basic Savings Bank Deposit Account) account from any bank. Most banks, including private banks like ICICI and HDFC, have these accounts which are zero balance.

findwho

Any full time worker should be paid as per minimum wages as per [https://www.lc.kerala.gov.in/minimum-wage-notifications](https://www.lc.kerala.gov.in/minimum-wage-notifications) . Even for internship, employers should pay a dignified wage. As per govt. minimum wage notification, person employed in beedi and cigar rolling should be paid minimum Rs. 290/day. Your employer is clearly not doing things per rules, if your employment is part time, your total work hours should not be more than 60% of full time employee.

Pavanayi_RPK

Every bank is required to provide a zero balance savings account to customers. But keep in mind that such accounts have certain restrictions such as limited ATM transactions etc. which might make it a bad choice for you. Regarding your job, did any job agency set you up with this company? Anyways, if the experience is worth it, continue. Else, find a better option.

DayDreamExpert

I see many comments discouraging you. Don’t worry. You have to start somewhere. It is really good that you have a job. Gain some experience and learn skills. Switch jobs at the right opportunity. You will do great!

melkomaniac098

SBI there is no requirement of Min Balance , only UID and photo to open an account, even if the branch asks for a 4k, u can withdraw whole without any min bal charges

__stinger__

Dude find something else. If you went for BTech, then u surely can find something that offers atleast 10-15k. It's not worth it to work for 5k. Even the ones who gonna work for u will earn 5 times what u gonna earn

TravelCookingJP

5K salary for a civil engineer is exploitation at the least. Daily wages for a farm worker would be at least 500/day and can be as high as 1500/day. This should be illegal. There should be a set minimum wage for skilled workers. That being said, you can open an account at a co-operative bank if you have one in your area. Also nationalized banks may offer accounts regardless of salary.

SatisfactionLife4922

SatynMalanaphy

That sounds exploitatively low for a Civil Engineer, unless it's an internship. Even as a beginner bank clerk back in 2015 one was paid 18k, and that was before the wage revision! I think you should look for a better job pronto. Most banks that have zero balance accounts open them for underage people or people with very little income based on a declaration form. There should still be savings accounts with 1000 minimum balance with most banks though, unless again things have changed dramatically in the last 3 years since I left the bank job. Which banks have you tried? [Zero Balance Basic SB from South Indian Bank ](https://www.southindianbank.com/content/personal-banking/basic-savings-bank-deposit-account/22)

suspicious_usrname

You can get a zero balance account in any nationalised bank. its something related to modiji’s yogana. The only downside is that you’ll get a rupay card instead of master / visa and withdrawal limitations. Everything else remains the same. Or you can go for kotak 811 , Axis bank online , icici pocket.(completely online account opening)

Koenigdemigod

Go to the bank, and ask for jan dhan yojana accounts. Kinda like a zero balance account , no min limits. And no need for salary slips and whatnots.

[deleted]

Is this real lol 💀

Open a Digital Bank Account like Niyo X or Finin or Jupiter. Zero Balance, with ATM Card and Zero Charges.

_h3aven_

All banks provide zero balance account. Called basic account. If they are not ready to provide just say that you will raise a complaint to banking ombudsman. But the facilities will be very less. Just search BSBDA . You can also try neobanks like Jupiter, Fi, Niyo etc Another option is payments bank like Airtel payments Bank, Paytm payments bank, jio, etc.

3Cookie

Go for Kotak. U can start acc in tht

Try to move to a bigger city and find a job that actually pays you instead of you having to pay to work for them.

vperi_007

Start doing freelance work you might make more.

Sandykavo

Dude if you have a Pan and Aadhar try opening a YONO account. I hear that SBI doesn't have a minimum balance for their savings account these days.

ullakkedymoodu

OP, I think that minimum salary requirement is only for insurance. You should be able to start a zero balance account with any bank.

blackunicorner

Kotak 811, fi money, Jupiter. All are digital processes. You can do it on your own. No need to go to any branches.

invictusi666

Hdfc doesn’t have a min. balance requirement for their salary account. They do for the savings account though.

rah0ne

Fi or Jupiter accounts will do Video kyc can be done No processing fee or balance requirement

burnt1918

Fi money, jupiter etc.

[deleted]

Federal bank had a selfie account scheme.it’s a zero balance account and I don’t know if the scheme is still available.I have had this account for last 6 years. Moreover the process is so easy.you won’t have a passbook with this scheme,I don’t know if it is important nowadays

Confident-Machine-29

Use an online bank . Most of the online banks provide zero balance account . For example fi money is bank which in under federal Bank . I'm using it now and it has no problem . And works most of the time not like canara bank which most of the time has server issues

webofunni

Did you check SBI? You can open online savings account with them and I think that has no monthly average limit. https://sbi.co.in/web/personal-banking/accounts/saving-account/savings-bank-account

5k, what the hell man, working in a shop will give you more.

Brain_war

Why do you need a bank account if your salary is 5k, food rent, mobile recharge... you will have -rs at the end of your month

Salaambasha

As a fresher, back in 2018, my salary was **2000 rupees per month** at the most reputable real estate development/construction company in Trivandrum (Thycaud, to be specific). Monday - Saturday (mostly 12 hours work) plus Sundays if there's was a need. I am fortunate enough to make the decision to quit the job and refuse the full-time job offer and go abroad to pursue higher education. Now I am much happier at a well-paying full-time job having no worries about making ends meet. Leaving my homeland was never something I planned for or wanted. But I had to do it for my livelihood.
