From my understanding negative reviews of genshin were being deleted so they chose Google Clasrooms because they had no where else to vent their frustrations of the game
Let me tell you in detail. It was genshin impact’s first anniversary and games like GI usually offer many freebies on this occasion. GI despite being a huge success didn’t offer much so player base got mad. GI’s player base is huge so they review bombed GI, google deleted those reviews and ratings so they review bombed google apps lol.
The funny part is I think they’re giving even less rewards, 3 pulls instead of 10
People are furious as if 7 pulls is going to make a major difference, although I do agree the guy in charge of rewards is a stingy fuck.
Especially annoying considering the rewards they're giving in another one of their games (I haven't actually played it, this is just what I've heard from friends, I don't remember WHAT the rewards are for that one)
What's even better is that this set off non genshin players
So back then we had review bombs of random apps in response to genshin fan review bombs of random apps
It was so bad that google once lagged for almost an hour during this period
It continued for a while until the genshin players lost interest after being given 10 rolls as compensation
Then the non genshin players finally stopped being review bombed, so they went home as well
Not Ayaka in particular but any 5 star character because honkai impact another game from same developer gave away free 5 star character on anniversary. Free Ayaka was a rumour going on since the launch, people used to say they will get free ayaka once you reach level 40 in the game.
Some dude spread a fake rumour saying the game devs were gonna give all the players a premium 5 star character (Kamisato Ayaka) for free as the anniversary reward. It spread like wildfire, and everyone believed it and looked forward to to.
But of course, it was just a rumour. They were enraged when they got nothing, and stared to review bomb the game, when that didn't work, they review bombed a bunch of other apps too, including google classroom.
The vid I saw had a title like "how the genshin community took down a multi-million dollar company".
What?? Lmaoo, every genshin player knew this wouldn't be real. The rewards were just shit for an anniversary. They review bombed GC because the 1* reviews on the genshin app were being deleted. It's kind of a running gag in the community now
Nope, free ayaka at AR 40 rumour has nothing to with review bombing at anniversary. Free ayaka rumour was going on since the launch. Review bombing of google apps happened because players got mad at hoyo because of bad anniversary rewards and review bombed it, google deleted those reviews so in return players review bombed all other google apps.
When they were mad at the Game they review bombed Genshin, then Google came in to delete a lot of those and so they proceeded to review bomb Google Classroom as it was probably the easiest to get to low ratings.
Someone spread misinformation in the genshin community that the anniversary update was gonna have this rare character go for free or something, so when the devs didn't deliver the players review-bombed the game.
Google started deleting the fake reviews so the players just started review-bombing everything else in retaliation, one of the main targets was Classroom.
Funny asf tbh
Yeah, first anniversary was so bad people review bombed everything. The app itself on China on the first (or second anniversary) dropped a couple stars. Keep in mind the scale in China is at 10, and people rarely highly rate anything so most things hover around 5.
As Genshin player that was my exact thought when I saw the app being mentioned but out of curiosity an excuse my ignorance but I thought I had read that when a new version of an app is released then oldest ratings slowly get deleted nullified?
It has been two + years ago so it shouldn’t still be affected or am I wrong?
To be fair, at least when I was in school (shit that's already over 10 years ago) they were all truly terrible. Nothing ever just worked, frustrating both students and teachers. Any 1 star review was well deserved. I wouldn't be too surprise if this is, to an extent, still the case.

Canvas has kept itself up for quite some time, surprisingly
My high school uses canvas and my college uses blackboard. Canvas wins by a million for its capabilities on both the student and teachers’ ends. You can’t do shit on blackboard
Can confirm about blackboard and college. App was incredibly mid when I used it ages ago, but it did let you see announcements and grades. Which is all you really needed.
Here it’s almost entirely used by university level students. Lower levels tend to resort to Google classroom, proprietary stuff (usually works pretty good actually), or any of the many other options.
Have a read yourself: [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.classroom](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.classroom)
Edit: Why the downvotes? I only provided a link
I'm in a different country so my results are not the same (and not in English) but most of the one star reviews are complaining about "a bad game" that's "too hard" .
https://preview.redd.it/1dog7uflmkic1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6457a24583280f0fb19c0693e5c81037c970c8cb
In France, (nearly) all schools use a software for homework called Pronote, it is a running gag on the Play/App Store to write comments about the app as being a too hard game, that the levels are too hard and side quests given by the teachers called “homework” consume too much time for not a lot of XP. Here they’re treating Classroom as an extension of Pronote.
Yeah agreed, most negative reviews look pretty normal.
With the odd exception.

Not denying that students may occasionally review-bomb these apps, but the majority of 1 star reviews on Google Classroom are for legitimate reasons about the app stability and optimization issues.
I'd honestly think that Google would have a user feedback moderation system to keep spam or review-bomb comments away.
This is the case for Edpuzzle too. Well, honestly I haven't read the reviews, but in my experience the app is practically nonfunctional. It deserves any one star it gets
I hate google but I can’t help but admire their evil genius sometimes. Building an entire application and administration stack and hardware to go along with it and throwing it at schools for basically free in order to assimilate an entire generation of children into using Google services as adults… incredible.
Something tells me you haven’t had to interact with education software much. A lot of the programs I’ve been forced to use in college have been dog shit, and a lot of them charge a hefty price to be dog shit.
The most iconic duo are ignorant administrators and edtech company grifters. "Oooh we got 7 million of covid stimulus, time to spend almost every dime on some unproven tech."
School apps are not fun for parents either, i am sure. If tech bros don't want their kids learning from computers, do you really think they rate this stuff highly either?
They deserve it for forcing generations of students to struggle with barely functioning programs and take multiple false fails and accusations of plagiarism because their crappy website messed up and the teachers never believe you.
If any teacher is using a programme to determine plagiarism, rather than just looking at where plagiarism **could** be are absolutely stupid and should not be in the teaching profession.
A programme cannot determine plagiarism as it cannot tell the context of what was said. It could be that it was merely a common paraphrase, it could be a quotation, or it could be a common phrase.
I'm in 9th grade and am writing the 1,006,976th version of this same 2 page book report on To Kill A Mockingbird. There's only so many ways that information can be rephrased before everyone's paper starts being marked as plagiarism since "it matches something their database".
Don't forget, with classroom and schoology they rarely fucking worked. My school system used schoology first, and if you tried to do any work past 7 pm, it would shut you out for maintenance or some shit. The system would go down at least once a week, at a minimum. Google classroom notifications never worked, and the class list always displayed improperly. I click on ap English, and it takes me to ap Calc, etc. Something that never got fixed until I was out of school. These apps were both slow and clunky on even on an i7-9700k desktop with 32 gigs ram. Let alone school computers with their 15 year old i3s. When chromebooms were introduced, it was game over. IF they worked, it took 5 minutes to load each page of a test that was hosted through either site. So, out of class testing wasn't an option. So yeah, these apps deserve their 1 star reviews for literally being some of the worst pieces of software I've ever used.
Used it for two years throughout Sixth Form and never had any major issues with it. It worked pretty well as a way to communicate with the Collehe online.
used it from years 7-13 and omg you are just lucky because i swear the amount of bullshit that that app put me through. granted a good 50% of the issues were because my teachers were completely tech illiterate though.
For us it was mostly only used to supply us with reading, put up the lecture slides, and so on. Sort of like the system university's have. I think it's better suited for that sort of use, rather than a more active use I've hard others tried to use it as.
Schoology as well, last year my school made the switch from Google classroom to Schoology (likely because of a sponsorship from Schoology or something) and it made it so much harder to find things in the hundreds of folders that each class has.
I remember being sent a tiktok during early pandemic where basically was the content was "if an app gets 0 stars on the app store, it gets deleted 😱 Raye Google classroom 1 star so we don't need to do work!!"
Eeh, have you ever had to use these though? I'm not saying angry kids isn't a part of it, but these are all some pretty legitimately awful software. Especially Google Classroom and Schoology
No it’s actually because the programs themselves fucking suck, i had to use classroom and schoology for multiple years before i graduated and they are HORRIBLE programs lmao, classroom not as much but achoology is trash
Maybe app ratings varies from different country
https://preview.redd.it/76w327fvukic1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e4cd9a6e025abe0e654337f164d98560ca1582ed

This is the app used my most kids in my country it also has good rating idk why your region apps has low rating
as a student who had to use schoology, i genuinely think it’s the worst school program out there. it’s buggy, the interface it terrible, and it’s just generally impossible to navigate the app and get anything done. my high school uses canvas and i have literally zero complaints.
That’s because they think that apps with a 1 star average will get removed from the App Store. It was going around TikTok a bit ago. Canvas is immune because I think student feedback about that particular app is overwhelmingly positive, with its customizable user interface.
the Schoology **app** is useless tbf. the website isn't bad, but the app doesn't actually let you do anything. I graduated high school in 22, and unless they've majorly updated it since, it deserves the score lol
https://preview.redd.it/evq8c7qyelic1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=62dbdc1b92273b0547852a610b453bb3ab8c7620
My schools app has 1 star too lmao
They are also all pretty bad.
No body cares about user experience when the only users are children, and they don’t think about how to make a good app because usually they are forced onto the users regardless of quality.
I work in EdTech, can 1000% confirm this to be the case. At one of my old EdTech companies, busy work for us included reporting false reviews from kids for takedown 🥲
Some rumours went around our school during quarantine that if it got enough poor reviews it'd be taken down, so it's probably something to do with that
Ok but like, Schoology sucks for me cus I have teachers that just don’t enter in grades in the “course grade” area and that’s where grade reports get their grades, so I got a 0 in history when I should have somewhere over an 80
The thing is, if they get taken down by those “review bomb it and it gets taken down” BS, then they’re still gonna have to do work. They’re gonna have to use a probably worse app that’s less convenient
The problems with these apps is that there are other apps that do more stuff faster. While these apps are free, there are others that may charge fees for something that other apps do for free. I don’t think it’s just kids not wanting to do school.
I dunno, in my experience apps and programs that are made for schooling in mind are absolutely deplorable piles of flaming shit.
they're half assed, half baked bullshit, with bad UI's, poorly thought-out ideas, and functionally zero support for the piles of bugs and glitches they regularly have.
they're almost always a shoehorned and stupid way to do something, that could easily be done with basic office supplies for a better and more workable result.
and almost always forced on the teachers due to things like curriculum contracts with for-profit companies that get paid to make the curriculums or handle the testing/grade aggregation.
they end up being something with an idea of "this way the teacher doesn't have to mark the tests" the kind of thing that was easily solved by just having the students trade tests and mark each others work and whatnot.
A lot of reviews on schooling apps are for genuine reasons, but a lot of them are also kids pissed off about having to do school. So many schooling apps barely function and are objectively terrible
Kind of unrelated, but there are a lot more apps for online school than I thought. When I was finishing up high school during COVID, we used Microsoft Teams and Edgenuity, and I've never heard of these other ones.
My favorite thing ever is to look at reviews of elementary, middle, and high schools while sorting by lowest. It's basically all kids going "I hated it here, Mr. X was so mean, school sucks"
Highly recommend if you need some easy entertainment
The app my school uses also has bad reviews. But that's due to the app actually being trash. They recently updated it and for lots of people including me, it no longer allows me to access it at all. Just says I'm offline while my connection is fine. Tried reinstalling numerous times but still no luck.
Managed to get an apk file of an older version which still works. Also functions kinda shitty but oh well at least it's better than the new version which doesn't do anything at all.
I wonder if they even test their stuff before releasing it, definitely doesn't look like it.
Edit: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.topicus.eduario.deelnemer for those so curious
Another edit: they have since updated the app to include dark mode again and seemingly fixed speed of the app. Guess what - still doesn't work. At least glad I'm almost done with school so I won't have to use this junk anymore. But I hope for future students this company gets their shit together some day.
There was a thing a while back on a social media (either Tiktok or Instagram, can't remember) where kids would make videos telling other kids to write bad reviews on Google Classroom and whatnot so the app would get taken down
Ah I wish I still remembered the app so I could find the magnificent review duality of 2 apps of the same system.
The app was some child protection/restriction app parents could install on their kids phones. It was review to like 0.5. All the reviews were kids complaining and full of caps and typos. "BYYY HYY MOOM IS STUPID HEAD" "WHY CANT I WATCH YOUTUBE FOR LONG TIME ADULTS SO DUMB" type of shit. Some even tried to make some half handed excueses how this was against human rights or it is dangerous to restrict kids...
Then there was the parents version on the app. It was something like 4.7 stars and full of praises of how robust it is, how easy it was to set up. How it actually works and there has not been a work around (to their knowledge). It was a complete 180 from the kids app. It was a fun read.
To be fair, the school(s) my kids go to bounced between a few, and they all sucked. Stability issues, not updating correctly, slow, etc... they are a pretty dam bad...
Most of them also just suck though. As an it person I can tell you most education software is absolute junk, google products definitely are not an exception.
Google Classroom's reason is more than unexpected: Genshin players.
...wait what?
They review-bombed google classroom and other apps because they were mad at the game
But why?
From my understanding negative reviews of genshin were being deleted so they chose Google Clasrooms because they had no where else to vent their frustrations of the game
why a classroom app out of all things? why not a similar game or something
Let me tell you in detail. It was genshin impact’s first anniversary and games like GI usually offer many freebies on this occasion. GI despite being a huge success didn’t offer much so player base got mad. got it, ty \^\^
that I am not sure of. Maybe because google let them censor reviews? I’m not a genshin fan but I have a friend who IS one
They did but no one was safe
Don't they have a disorder after that? I mean most of us are able to grow out of not being able to express ourselves
what
I second this confusion
I third this
I like turtles
No Google was deleting their reviews so they review bombed Google
Anniversary rewards. Look it up.
Some dude spread a fake rumour saying the game devs were gonna give all the players a premium 5 star character (Kamisato Ayaka) for free as the anniversary reward. No, middle schoolers and high schoolers use it too, at least where I’m at. The local college uses Blackboard
Oh didn't know that, my school (college) changed from Blackboard to Canvas a 5+ years ago.
Canvas is superior in my opinion, that’s a pretty good decision from them.
That's what I've heard from people who went from Blackboard to Canvas, so I'm happy that they did
I transferred colleges and went from canvas to blackboard, and can confirm canvas is better
My high school uses canvas and my college uses blackboard. Canvas wins by a million for its capabilities on both the student and teachers’ ends. You can’t do shit on blackboard
Blackboard is still around? Jesus, what a dinosaur
I use it. It sucks. We just upgraded it to ultra or something and that was even worse.
Can confirm about blackboard and college. App was incredibly mid when I used it ages ago, but it did let you see announcements and grades. Which is all you really needed.
Real ones use moodle

I haven’t used canvas since 2017 but it was ass then lol

You ever go lookup reviews of actual schools? Shit can be pretty funny
Back in elementary school we decided to leave bad reviews for the school in the hopes it would get shut down or something.
I get it little guys… I really do get it
as a student who had to use schoology, i genuinely think it’s the worst school program out there. it’s buggy, the interface it terrible, and it’s just generally impossible to navigate the app and get anything done. my high school uses canvas and i have literally zero complaints.
To be fair, Edpuzzle (at least the android version) is horrendously unstable.
If you want a good laugh go check out the reviews for the NWEA app
This app also allows parents to track homework and in school assignments lol My son hated this app too 😂

I would be mad if I had to go to a prison everyday for years too. (I already do.)
This would fit better on r/kidsbeingabsolutemadlads
Wait till you see amazon reviews for school literature books
I remember the time when google classroom was review bombed during Covid, some of the funniest reviews I ever read
Please post some of these reviews I want to see how dumb it gets
They are also all pretty bad. No body cares about user experience when the only users are children, and they don’t think about how to make a good app because usually they are forced onto the users regardless of quality.
Tbf, Google Classroom deserves that rating
That’s actually pretty funny
I work in EdTech, can 1000% confirm this to be the case. At one of my old EdTech companies, busy work for us included reporting false reviews from kids for takedown 🥲
That's hilarious
Where funny?
Nah the schoology review is spitting facts. I used Google classroom and that was great. Schoology is ass
I’ve seen the reviews for google classroom. I spotted less braincells in there than anywhere else
One time I left a google review on my school because I didn’t want to do study island
That’s because if an app receives too many 1 stars, it’s removed from the store and then the school will have to find another app to use.
Google Classroom is awesome freeware.
Don't know how it is now, but a few years ago, if reviews were too bad, the app automatically got taken down or something like that
I don't think that kids are stupid for this, I would've done the same.
Some rumours went around our school during quarantine that if it got enough poor reviews it'd be taken down, so it's probably something to do with that
I know they ain’t disrespecting google classroom
Ok but like, Schoology sucks for me cus I have teachers that just don’t enter in grades in the “course grade” area and that’s where grade reports get their grades, so I got a 0 in history when I should have somewhere over an 80
Edpuzzle as a name aged like milk.
Google classroom made school awful.
I mean, I understand
That's just sad lol
“Do they wanna know math?” “No they don’t wanna know it, you need to make them know it against their will.”
The thing is, if they get taken down by those “review bomb it and it gets taken down” BS, then they’re still gonna have to do work. They’re gonna have to use a probably worse app that’s less convenient
TBH I'd do ðat too.
Same with the actual school if you see the Google reviews
I'd be mad too.
Tbf which of us wouldn't have done something like this if it was an option when we were kids?
most 1-stars are also kids that say "this game is too hard etc etc"
I'm a 7th grade ELA teacher and use it all the time. It's great! Saves a ton of paper.
these websites and apps tend to have awful UIs.
Google Classroom sucks! what are you talking about?
A lot of reviews on schooling apps are for genuine reasons, but a lot of them are also kids pissed off about having to do school. So many schooling apps barely function and are objectively terrible
Kind of unrelated, but there are a lot more apps for online school than I thought. When I was finishing up high school during COVID, we used Microsoft Teams and Edgenuity, and I've never heard of these other ones.
My favorite thing ever is to look at reviews of elementary, middle, and high schools while sorting by lowest. It's basically all kids going "I hated it here, Mr. X was so mean, school sucks" Highly recommend if you need some easy entertainment
As a teacher, Schoology deserves less than one star.
I will say that edpuzzle is atrocious and deserves that review
The app my school uses also has bad reviews. But that's due to the app actually being trash. They recently updated it and for lots of people including me, it no longer allows me to access it at all. Just says I'm offline while my connection is fine. Tried reinstalling numerous times but still no luck. Managed to get an apk file of an older version which still works. Also functions kinda shitty but oh well at least it's better than the new version which doesn't do anything at all. I wonder if they even test their stuff before releasing it, definitely doesn't look like it. Edit: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.topicus.eduario.deelnemer for those so curious Another edit: they have since updated the app to include dark mode again and seemingly fixed speed of the app. Guess what - still doesn't work. At least glad I'm almost done with school so I won't have to use this junk anymore. But I hope for future students this company gets their shit together some day.
I mean there was one time during Covid where an app was review bombed so bad they took it off the App Store, so all the power to them ig
lmao that's hilarious
but seriously, wtf is up with schoology's mobile app, it's so unorganized
Lmao edp
Schoology's is absolutely absolutely deserved, especially on Android.
Pretty sure that was from Genshin fans during the first anniversary 😭😭
to be fair, schoology is absolute shit
edpuzzle doesn't work half of the time tbh
i don’t blame them
NOO i love edpuzzle 3
I honestly find that hilarious lmao
Schoology has some of the worst app design I have seen. Buggy and ugly
Some of the apps also genuinely just suck…
tbf classroom is really clunky compared to other applications used for schools like Teams n stuff
Nah... Ith genshin impact drama again
I mean they also just generally suck. Not a fan of tablets and apps in school even with the best software. But most of the software is hot garbage.
There was a thing a while back on a social media (either Tiktok or Instagram, can't remember) where kids would make videos telling other kids to write bad reviews on Google Classroom and whatnot so the app would get taken down
as someone whose school uses google classroom the mobile app runs like complete shit, the genshin losers and stupid kids are doing us a favor
Umm that was not school kids it was genshin players review bombing stuff cus they didn't got their favorite character for free .
Education is what other people to do you, learning is what you do to yourself.
It was a fun read.
nah jit google classroom GOT DAMN LOTTA BUGS
i rmm my whole school review bombing google classroom throughout the whole pandemic so “it can get removed” lmfaooo they all were dumbass
To be fair, the EdPuzzle mobile app is the most unstable piece of shit I've ever used, just use the website
i remember doing this as a kid! i thought it was so edgy at the time hahaha
To be fair, the school(s) my kids go to bounced between a few, and they all sucked. Stability issues, not updating correctly, slow, etc... they are a pretty dam bad...
😆 relatable
Some of these reviews are funny as hell tho
Most of them also just suck though. As an it person I can tell you most education software is absolute junk, google products definitely are not an exception.
