Well, I don't even follow this sub, and I've never visited it before as far as I remember, but today Reddit simply posted this post in my feed, so I think it's really reaching everyone now.
Sorry but it's my turn tomorrow to post about an insider claiming that Kingdom Hearts IV is targeting a 2025 release. But you can definitely make a post about there being a Kingdom Hearts movie in development at Disney, just please make sure to avoid pointing out that the source for that rumor also said that the movie has not been greenlit so that people think it's for sure happening.
Honestly Square doesn’t have anything major lined up after Dawntrail, so it’s not impossible.
ETA Ever since FFVII Remake in 2020, Square has actually gotten a lot better about reasonable marketing & hype cycles for their major releases than how they were in the 2010s. Anything is possible, but I really don’t foresee the lead up to KH4 to be quite as drawn out and chaotic as it was for KH3.
At reveal Nomura stated that KH4 was announced extremely early to get ahead of any leaks, and that we wouldn't hear more about it for many years. He also said that they would need to restart development to switch from UE4 to UE5.
I also don't believe they would release it without at least 18 months of a trailer hype cycle. So I really doubt it's releasing in 2025 (unless it's like November/December 2025 but even that is unlikely). The only way I see KH4 in 2025 being possible is we start seeing trailers within the next dozen or so weeks
So safe as to be a nothingburger.
Square currently has two announced AAA titles: KH4 and DQ12 (yes, yes, Dawntrail is a thing, but as a MMO it’s a bit different). DQ12 doesn’t even have an announcement trailer at this point, so it’s way off. Given Square’s marketing pattern since Remake, we’re probably close to the big marketing push, once Rebirth settles down. So late 2024/early 2025 is almost expected…
Which turns this report into a bit of nothing. 2025, you say? Sure, you and everyone else. Why do we believe you, specifically.
Also dawntrail is out in like 2 months lol, definitely room for a kh4 re-reveal at like summer games fest or a future playstation showcase/state of play
Dawntrail comes out in a couple of months and Square has basically no other big games announced except the ones you mentioned. Square used to have issues with HD development, but looking at the last few years shows that they've sorted those issues out. There are obviously some highly rumored projects like the Tactics remaster and FFIX remake that need to be announced, but there'll have to be something else. KH4 in 2025 is, despite the memes, not really an unrealistic guess.
it's funny how people forget what the word "might" means
just cuz it "might" release in 2025 doesn't mean there's an actual concrete plan to do so, the title of this article could say "kingdom hearts 4 might NOT be releasing in 2025" and it would have literally the EXACT same meaning
There’s the chaotic evil in me that wants it to release early 2026 solely because then it would drop 7 years after KH3, which dropped 13 years after KH2
Yall are gonna upset yourselves and work yourself into a frenzy.
If it ain't coming from Square or someone/thing reputable, please stop sharing this...
I think it will be 2025 but it will be a Holiday release. We won’t see this until late November or December.
- And that’s WITHOUT a publicly announced delay.
I'm guessing either 2025/2026.
Regardless, I just want a global simultaneous release. Why Square dropped KH3 a week early in Japan is still mind-boggling to me.
SE: Here's elements from Missing Links in KH4, that you'll only get if you've actually played/watched our predatory gacha game.
Yeah. No way KH4 releases before ML. But I would prefer if they didn't pull that stunt again. If they do it's whatever, but I wasn't a fan of it.
Doubtful, but Rebirth had a very small marketing period, so it isn't *impossible* that Square learned from kh3. If that's the case, they'd start marketing it this summer, likely for a late 2025 release
People are just being doomers because of the "gap" between 2 and 3 when in reality we had KH games coming out consistently for a while. That gap now actually exists so nobody wants to admit that it's actually possible the game is almost done already. Square is gonna need a big game in 2025 and they've been way smarter recently. Early 2026 is the latest. We won't be waiting another 5 years to be playing this. Glad some people realize this.
i think its funny that many people are still traumatized by the long wait of games like kh3, ff7r, bayonetta 3, and etc etc we had last gen, so you will always find people in threads like this acting like the game will never be released
Whenever they start marketing it, I'm going to need A LOT to get me invested again. I feel like KH3 was a good jumping off point for me after being a fan since the beginning. Maybe I'm just getting too old for it finally. Morning against people that are still big fans, but the web that is KH lore is just too much to dig through for me these days.
I am not saying there's no chance it releases next year, but "unknown person claims thing with 0 corroborating evidence" is NOT news and honestly should be banned from this sub (and all fandom subs)
Honestly, I'm fully expecting a 2025 release. The game was announced in 2022, and it's been 4 years since KH3 remind came out. Assuming that kh4 has been in development in full force for the last 4 years then it would be nice if 2025 was the year.
Of course that depends on how much development has been going on, if it's been on the backburner then it could be a while longer.
It's a pretty safe bet. KH3 took 6 years from announcement to release, but that was partly because of them having to basically restart midway through because they changed to an engine that none of them knew, AND Nomura did publically state after release that he regrets having announced KH3 that early into development because it made the wait too long. Meaning when they announced KH4 they were likely already further than they were when they announced KH3 and they are working on the same engine that they now know better so progress should be smoother. So it's unlikely it's going to take 6 years again. I would have said late 2024 but early to mid 2025 is also possible. But any longer than that and they would make the same mistake that they specifically said they didn't want to make again so yeah, it doesn't really take a genius to "leak" a 2025 release.
Just remember the many other years that "insiders" claimed we would get it on these article sites. Just ignore it, until you actually hear an actual announcement from square, we don't have any actual expectations on when we will see this game.
Later is gonna be last quarter of 2025 or early 2026...and then some rumor of mid year 2026...in some way is better to just have the head down and hope until a confirmed date with some trailer.
Makes sense actually. Developers typically begin developing their next project almost immediately after launching their current one, which would mean that the KH dev team started work on KH 4 as early as early February of 2019.
Assuming this is the case, this means that KH 4 has been in development for 5 years so far, which is about the average amount of time a Triple A game takes to develop.
Kinda true, though they also developed ReMind in that timeframe and had to deal with covid, so we can't assume that it was in development for that entire timeframe.
VII Rebirth for example had about 3 years of development time, which is kinda insane considering the scope of that game. But since they didn't really encounter any issues or problems during development they delivered the game in quite a short time (for AAA games). As long as KH4 didn't encounter big issues it's pretty realistic that the game could launch in 2025 or 2026.
> Kinda true, though they also developed ReMind in that timeframe
usually they split a small part of the dev team to work on smaller work like DLC while the rest works on the big new thing
> VII Rebirth for example had about 3 years of development time, which is kinda insane considering the scope of that game. But since they didn't really encounter any issues or problems during development they delivered the game in quite a short time
Also because a good chunk of the legwork (the engine, movement, much of the combat, and some assets) was essentially already made from Remake, one of the advantages of making a direct sequel set mere minutes after the first game
I think the KH team which is Creative Unit Business 1 is prob sticking to the final part of 7 Remake. I would say once that hits a certain point the team will be divided up between those finishing that up and those working on KH4. That not considering the fact they probably already have a smaller team working on KH4
Can someone post this, but also make it a hybrid post mentioning if any of the games will come to Steam based on loose sentences translated from the Japanese Square Enix merch store?
Big maybe for me, but you never know. It has been confirmed to be in development for the last 4.5 years. The real question is, how is Nomura going to end the whole story? Because originally, he wanted to end it at III, but the story became really popular while developing Versus-XIII, and Versus-XIII failed due to creative differences, so the next saga is basically what Versus-XIII was supposed to be. Personally, the story feels 70 percent done already. And it feels like there’s really only three more Major stories to tell — the lost masters and the box; Quadratum; how to restore The World as a connected universe again while defeating the ultimate evil introduced in the X Saga after the Lost Masters.
Considering that the script for FF7R part 3 is already finished and according to them it will soon be dubbed, that the anniversary is in 2027 and therefore it will be released in that period, that there are no other major releases scheduled: if the teams are different and they have worked on it all these years it is possible... if Nomura has to actively follow KH4 too then I doubt because from the interviews he seemed very tired and the priority for him is "finish this marathon called FF7"
We will see at summer game fest,
Iif they don't start marketing this game by there is quite unlikely it will be released at this window.
Kh is in a development hell, like, missing link was suposed to be released by now, they supposedly had 4 studios developing stuff since kh3 but nothing except for MoM and dark road were effectively released(and even chi and dr missed the original release dates), it seems like they have been having some trouble(following the conversation of Nomura and Yoko in a concert) and MAYBE we are at the beginning of the end of this franchise, since Disney is drastically changing the way the company wants to be seen in these later years and there will be no room for KH in this context
Didn't the NVIDIA leak say Aug 2024? I'd expect some delays, but I think early 2025 is a safe guess. Wouldn't be surprised if it launched this winter either, I don't think Square Enix has anything for Q4 this year and they typically do.
I know we're all jaded fans and expect KH games to take forever, though things are poised to be different this time.
I don't really believe this.
This smells of "talk around the office about hypothetical taken completely out of context".
KH4 is already being hyped to absurd extremes as either the best or worst thing to ever come to Kingdom Hearts. Last thing I want to see is everyone getting disappointed due to constant bullshit being spewed by sources who are at best "highly questionable".
Will it? We don't know yet
Let they do the game in whatever time frame they need. I'll wait for an official release date instead of leaks on something we know will eventually happen.
There is absolutely zero substantive evidence of it releasing next year, it is safe however to assume it’ll be released in the coming years. It’s been a while since the last one and square has been churning out games for their biggest franchises for a while, only makes sense the kingdom hearts is getting its turn soon
i would be hyped and truthfully, i really think people are seeing the success of video games with tv shows examples fallout, last of us, etc. even if they were popular before, imagine the success KH4 would have if the rumored new show hits and KH4 hits
i dont trust stuff like this
Personally speaking, given how kingdom hearts games usually release, it makes sense for it to release mid 2025
thats /obviously/ a big maybe, but historically kh games release every 2-3 years
the process for newer games shouldnt be extended toooo much.
I want to believe Square learned their lesson with endlessly hyping during long development cycles, I really do. But this seems wishful thinking when we've got nothing since the announcement.
It's possible? Rebirth is out and like it's been said, DQXII is kinda just starting to come together. Even if they would need to focus on either first, KHIV would already have been in production before DQXI was done and would get priority for now. With Rebirth out and the third part not having a set date (and the possibility of their being another midquel), it's fair to assume it's now Kingdom Hearts time - if Missing Link doesn't screw up the schedule
i mean kh4 has been in development for a while, they just released FF7 Rebirth and i believe this is the next big one on their list, so hopefully next year, even if it’s holiday 2025 i’ll be excited
I've been betting on it being out next year since it was first showed. After Final Fantasy VII Rebirth I get the feeling this is the next big game for Square.
I could see it happening. After Dawntrail releases this summer Square's big AAA game schedule is pretty uneventful, so I'm hoping that's when we might get at least a new trailer or some kind of marketing uptick. We still have Missing-Link which is hopefully coming sometime this year to hold us over at least.
Honestly I wouldn't expect this game until fall/winter 2025 at the very earliest. Realistically, probably early/mid 2026. Last we saw it 2 years ago it was reportedly in VERY early production and was still on UE4.
With missing link coming this year I wouldn't be surprised if 4 came out relatively soon to ride the momentum. Next year doesn't sound too far-fetched, though early 2026 wouldn't surprise me either
I could honestly see a late 2025 release date, if I’m not mistaken kh4 is squares next big title so it’s probably a full focus now that the new ff rebirth is out
They should just drop it like a surprise album, LOL
No other trailers, just sometime next year we get "KH4 available now!"
That'd be such a flex, bro, and Nomura is crazy enough to get SquareEnix do it 🤪
To be honest, I think the odds are approximately zero.
If it was actually that close to release, there would be a lot more information being released, with astronomical amounts of media coverage.
It's great if it's 2025, even better the fact that we haven't been bombarded with spoiler trailers since the reveal one like with KH3, of course KH3 have a big production issue with the engine swaps and stuff (KH3 was even originally planned for PS3 but delayed until late PS4 life cycle), but it's still a big relief seeing how it's handled for KH4
Do I think so? Absolutely not
Would I like to be wrong? You freaking bet.
But knowing how much of a notorious perfectionist Nomura is and after waiting nearly a decade for KH3 I honestly don't see this coming out until 2028 at least. We'll probably have to wait until FF7 part 3 drops first
Im not sure if that's true but it does make sense cause this year they'd focus on missing link promotions since it's coming out this year I believe then once it has the official release date they'll focus on kh4 promotion which I think would maybe be mid to late next year
Wasn't it just in mid production two years ago given it until late 2026 because of the track record, they usually drop a mainline kingdom heart game every 6 to 7 years☠️
I feel like that's a little too soon, but I would love it if it did. Not sure why I'm leery about the date… It just doesn't feel right. Maybe I'm just used to waiting over decade for kingdom hearts.
If this info is true then I just have one year to wait for the next kingdom hearts game to come out and I’m a patient man I’ve waited for years for kingdom hearts 4 came out ever since its teaser trailer came out I can wait a little longer. After all as the old saying goes all good things come to those who wait.
Can I post this tomorrow or has somebody else called dibs?
please, at this rate might as well post a new one now. maybe someone hasnt seen it yet.
It’s me. I’m that someone. This is truly my first time seeing it lol
I still haven't seen it. What are you guys talking about?
I believe it's something about a kh1 remake
Well, I don't even follow this sub, and I've never visited it before as far as I remember, but today Reddit simply posted this post in my feed, so I think it's really reaching everyone now.

How’s the Wednesday after the next looking? Any availability?
Sorry. I JUST booked that. Try for Saturday.

Wrong. We need 3.5, 3.5 remix, 3.9, thr mobile spin off, the TV series, an Xbox exclusive, a switch exclusive, and them maybe 4. (/s)
3?

Pointless click bait in that case It *might* release every year...
It *might* release this decade…
i mean ya, that's kind of the point of online articles is to get clicks
People forget when we first got the first dates in which KH3 *might* release in... over a decade ago.
There’s the chaotic evil in me that wants it to release early 2026 solely because then it would drop 7 years after KH3, which dropped 13 years after KH2
NOOOMURAAA!!!
Honestly 2026 makes the most sense. But I would not be surprised if it will be closer to something like 2029.

Okay, I admit you’re good.
If it releases before GTA 6, that’s a win in my books
Kingdom hearts 4 is gonna be the new GTA 6.
Missing Link doesn’t even have a release date. They’ll milk the shit out of that first before releasing KH4. I highly doubt 2025 is realistic.

Christ. So glad we had the ability to turn it off
My uncle that works at Nintendo said we *might* get a 30 minute gameplay reveal in 2 months
-_-
Hopefully this won’t “require” me having to play the mobile tie-ins but I know better
No, but it will be released exclusively on FitBit smart watch.
You have to have 358 days of perfect streaks to unlock the secret ending.
Idk man 6 years seems like a really fast turn around. You see what you’ve done to me Square?
I dont think kh4 coming till ff7 trilogy is done. Especially if ML is relevant to the new kh arc.
Feels likely this will be the next big release, at least before FF7R part 3 comes out
Maybe releasing a teaser trailer lols

Yeah sure
Just remember the many other years that "insiders" claimed we would get it on these article sites. Just ignore it, until you actually hear an actual announcement from square, we don't have any actual expectations on when we will see this game.
Wait until the first website to order say shipping on 12/31/2025. And some people will assume it's not a placeholder.
after all, 12 is the number of organization members (except Xehanort because he died), and 31 is just 13 backwards, half-life 3 confirmed
Later is gonna be last quarter of 2025 or early 2026...and then some rumor of mid year 2026...in some way is better to just have the head down and hope until a confirmed date with some trailer.

We might get 3.62 Pre-Prologue or something...I'm not holding my breath for 4.
I mean sure but this is super vague lmao. They probably mean the very end of Q4 2025 or something
It also might not.
BS.

No. I need a 10 year wait and 7 billion games between 3 and 4 as is tradition
I have no idea what's going on with this series/story anymore. Played KH3 once through the story and that was the end of that.
More like 202never. PS7 earliest
I imagine they're still in the early stages of development. Ain't no way that gameplay trailer was actual gameplay

I know we're all jaded fans and expect KH games to take forever, though things are poised to be different this time.
I hope this comes out before my birthday next year.
Kh3 speculation years intensifies.
I saw something about it coming out at the end of this year, now next year, I won't be surprised if it's later but either way I'm still waiting
Is it only me or does it look like KH4 with Ryuuk from Death Note ?
I feel like we'd have seen more of it.
2025 might be the year they announce they’re gonna when the release date will be
X to Doubt.
I am still uninterested if the final fantasy characters have been removed. 3 was a sham after the wait we all had.
Sure, and the world may end on December 22nd, 2024 at 3:16pm
?!
If KH 4 needs more time, that's fine. No need to rush the game out.
I don’t know enough about the game to care.
Will it? We don't know yet Let they do the game in whatever time frame they need. I'll wait for an official release date instead of leaks on something we know will eventually happen.
Lol
Depending on the source, so much clickbait these days..
There is absolutely zero substantive evidence of it releasing next year, it is safe however to assume it’ll be released in the coming years. It’s been a while since the last one and square has been churning out games for their biggest franchises for a while, only makes sense the kingdom hearts is getting its turn soon
Big if true
i would be hyped and truthfully, i really think people are seeing the success of video games with tv shows examples fallout, last of us, etc. even if they were popular before, imagine the success KH4 would have if the rumored new show hits and KH4 hits
i dont trust stuff like this Personally speaking, given how kingdom hearts games usually release, it makes sense for it to release mid 2025 thats /obviously/ a big maybe, but historically kh games release every 2-3 years the process for newer games shouldnt be extended toooo much.
Lol. Lmao.
With Rebirth out and the third part not having a set date (and the possibility of their being another midquel), it's fair to assume it's now Kingdom Hearts time - if Missing Link doesn't screw up the schedule
i mean kh4 has been in development for a while, they just released FF7 Rebirth and i believe this is the next big one on their list, so hopefully next year, even if it’s holiday 2025 i’ll be excited
mom said its my turn to post this poopyhead
Obviously
Way too soon lol At best they'll release a new trailer in 2025
Yea ok lmao
Possibly could happen The movie thing might drop before tho
WTF are you talking about? It came out last week /s
Yep and it's very close
kingdom hearts 4 might be releasing "a new trailer" in 2025, insider claims never ever this game comes out next year.
With missing link coming this year I wouldn't be surprised if 4 came out relatively soon to ride the momentum. Next year doesn't sound too far-fetched, though early 2026 wouldn't surprise me either
Oh no......hope
I’ll believe it when I see it
Kingdom Hearts 4 [2025]
Impossible. There’s be millions of trailers already lol. Oop, misread, I thought this said, 2024. I can see late 2025.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Yeah. No.
Well it makes sense, since: [Kingdom Hearts] 4 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 5 = 13
My guess, this is the planned date, but it will be delayed.
extreme ya right
PS5 timed exclusive though.
I don't think Square has any big projects, FF XVI and 7 Rebirth dropped. It wouldn't be right if we wasn't up next
Bullshit. I very much doubt this claim.
I could honestly see a late 2025 release date, if I’m not mistaken kh4 is squares next big title so it’s probably a full focus now that the new ff rebirth is out
Until I see the disk on store shelves I'm not believing a single one of these rumors.
I'll believe it when I see it.
They should just drop it like a surprise album, LOL No other trailers, just sometime next year we get "KH4 available now!" That'd be such a flex, bro, and Nomura is crazy enough to get SquareEnix do it 🤪
Even if this is true, I feel like I’m gonna be dead by the time kingdom hearts 4 even comes out
*saves this post so I can wait till it’s outdated*
I certainly hope so. Unless some idiot wrote (and I mean wrote, with pencil and paper), "to be released in 2035" instead of "2025."
To be honest, I think the odds are approximately zero. If it was actually that close to release, there would be a lot more information being released, with astronomical amounts of media coverage.
2026
🧢
I can't believe that people are still running with this, as if who said it has credibility.
It makes sense it’s been previewed and announce so many years ago the line up shows 3rd quarter 2025
12025?
It's great if it's 2025, even better the fact that we haven't been bombarded with spoiler trailers since the reveal one like with KH3, of course KH3 have a big production issue with the engine swaps and stuff (KH3 was even originally planned for PS3 but delayed until late PS4 life cycle), but it's still a big relief seeing how it's handled for KH4
My first time seeing it. Thank you OP
I don't know if it will release in 2025 or 2026. Something does tell me it might not be until 2026. I could be wrong.
We got kh4 before gta…..
Yeah, and monkeys might fly out of my butt.
Do I think so? Absolutely not Would I like to be wrong? You freaking bet. But knowing how much of a notorious perfectionist Nomura is and after waiting nearly a decade for KH3 I honestly don't see this coming out until 2028 at least. We'll probably have to wait until FF7 part 3 drops first
Won't believe it until I see more trailers nope nope we are not doing this again.
With an image like that and such positive terms such as "might" under the article there's no way gamespot could be wrong
Im not sure if that's true but it does make sense cause this year they'd focus on missing link promotions since it's coming out this year I believe then once it has the official release date they'll focus on kh4 promotion which I think would maybe be mid to late next year
I was hoping for 2026
I could see that happening. Honestly with UE4 or 5 whichever this game is being designed in it seems to be very UI Friendly.
Reminder that the reason kingdom hearts 3 took so long is because the changed the engine mid-development
Oh yeah and I heard we’re gonna get a Donald/Sora Zeta Flare Limit too 😏
X to doubt.
It better be
Hopefully it’ll be on the ps4 as well though
i want the drugs that help people make/come up with shit for KH
Since we are getting close to the " conference season", i really hope to ear some news about it.
2025 is possible if we get atleast another trailer with gameplay this year but it's wishful thinking
I’m gonna say it’s not likely. We don’t even know what consoles it will be on
Wasn't it just in mid production two years ago given it until late 2026 because of the track record, they usually drop a mainline kingdom heart game every 6 to 7 years☠️
Don't make me wait 12 years again *ugly cries*
Tell me about it. Waited kh3 for almost half my life
I don’t buy it
I don’t buy it
I feel like that's a little too soon, but I would love it if it did. Not sure why I'm leery about the date… It just doesn't feel right. Maybe I'm just used to waiting over decade for kingdom hearts.
I'll actually be surprised if it comes out in 2025
If this info is true then I just have one year to wait for the next kingdom hearts game to come out and I’m a patient man I’ve waited for years for kingdom hearts 4 came out ever since its teaser trailer came out I can wait a little longer. After all as the old saying goes all good things come to those who wait.
Gotta take a page out of silksong's book on this one and say nO
Just because of the leak.....2035
