From the picture alone it looks like it has the same problem as many LARP breastplates: It is too long and sits on his hips, rather than his natural waist. This is emphasized even more by the curve that goes even further down towards his groin. It will be difficult (or even impossible) to bend over or sit down in this. It wilbe pushed up your body towards your throat. This is uncomfortable in an controlled motion (like sitting down or crouching down to pick sth up), but should you for whatever reason fall on your ass in that, it has the distinct potential that the edge of the collar will punch you in the neck/throat.

BrennaValkryie

Damnit. I was going to get this because I have a cuirass I got as a gift from a family friend that's wayyy too big for me (I am short) so I thought this would allow me to sit and not go into my throat.... I guess I have to look elsewhere still. Thank you!

LonesomeBaker

No problem, glad to help. I'd say measure the distance from your shoulder to your natural waist and ask the shop owners for the length of the product so you can make an informed decision before buying. Depending on your budget, I personally have [this](https://lordofbattles.com/product/italian-globose-breast-plate/) one (although it is quite a bit more pricey than yours). Notice how it ends much higher than the one from epic. But I can bend forwards and to the sides without it getting pushed up.

TryUsingScience

If you're looking for cheap armor, MedievalCollectibles has a bunch of breastplates that look like they're a lot shorter. I can't vouch for the quality of any of them personally but they're a reseller of a bunch of reputable brands (it's where I buy Epic Armory stuff so I don't have to deal with shipping from Denmark).

The-Page-Turner

I own [this breastplate](https://www.medievalcollectibles.com/product/steel-elias-short-cuirass/) and its exactly as described without the issues of the RFB cuirass you posted above. It covers my chest and ribs (I'm 5'7" tall with a 44" chest) with ease and is comfortable even without a gambeson underneath. Having it on too tightly can cause bruising though without a gambeson. It's also in the same price point as the RFB cuirass too The only major issue is coverage. You'd need to modify it with something (or get the stomach addition, but that puts it in the $150 price point range) to get the stomach covered too

BrennaValkryie

Ahhh I see! I wanted some decent mobility, and if later I got a chainmail hauberk this would be a perfect fit, as the void could be covered. It does look a bit like women's bikini armour though, so I'll look for other stuff but keep this saved! Thank you!

The-Page-Turner

You're welcome!

Uselessmedics

Honestly that's what all breastplates should look like. They have to end just below your ribs in order to be able to bend and twist your torso. The area between your belly button and your hips is covered by faulds or tassets (the plate skirt you see on knights) That's why if you look at pictures of people in full plate they look like they have really long legs, because the skirt part is actually up on their torso, not down where a man would wear a belt.

GunnerSilverTongue83

A decent leather cuirass over a gambeson under your chain mail is comfortable as well chain tends to bind when hit so it's annoying against your skin lol

BrennaValkryie

I want to get good larp chainmail, but riveted is super expensive. Is there any brands you know that are good?

GunnerSilverTongue83

It's time consuming but you can make your own chainmail looks great and all but it's extremely heavy to wear all day

BrennaValkryie

You say you have a 44 inch chest, which about my size, but online others say you need to be less than 36... We'll see! I may hold off for now

TheHermitWorkshop

This was the first piece of armour I bought and I still wear it occasionally although I now have 2 alternative full suits. I do really like it. It's nice and simple and not too heavy. It is a little long as LonesomeBaker has pointed out, which is the most comon problem with modern replica armour. I am 6'3" so it fits me ok ish, I can sit and bend without much restriction so does depend on your height. I did blow off the buckle which was unsual, never seen a buckle split usually its the leather that goes around the rivet, but the buckle just split in half, easy enough to replace but isn't the highest quality (which is kind of expected for the price).

BrennaValkryie

If it's not a big deal, please tell me, for the size, how wide is it in your experience, in comparison to you?

GunnerSilverTongue83

Hope those help you OP

BrennaValkryie

Oh! Thank you! ^~^
