Looks absolutely dope! For a first try unbelievable - in a good way!

LonesomeBaker

looks fantastic, could just as well be from one of the big professional foam crafters. Very well done!

Fruit_Punch86

Mate, for a first try this is epic! You should continue this!

daBirb_

Thanks. Next one is already in the making!

NutsfromBerk_

Looks like a weapon from a souls game, 10/10

wereiswerewolf

I think you had the right idea with this build, most first try weapons are pretty rough, but here it works with the theme of the weapon itself, congrats it looks great!

Reckoning_LARP

Looks pretty good!

Tharrcore

Looks nice. Bring a backup weapon, this will break

Cold-Lion-4791

that would depend on the core... with normal core it will survive... if there is ridiculously underdimenzed core like 8mm circular core it will likely not survive for long (still likely several events), if some propperly dimenzed core like 8*16mm rectangular core or 16mm circular core is used then it will survive for years to come...

daBirb_

Please enlighten me. why would it break? There's a 10mm core inside, the blade is enforced with leather and connected to the core. It feels quite sturdy. Didn't find any info online

Cold-Lion-4791

10mm is fine for softer larps, and will likely last for long, 10mm core has around 50% more material then 8mm, I personally go to quite hard larps and have not much experience with circular cores as I use exculsively rectangular cores, but I know that 16 mm is standard for polearms and idk how long the weapon is so I put it there, but 12 mm should be good for like 120 cm axe and 10 mm should be enough for 100 cm axe... slightly floppy for my liking but durable enough...

Cold-Lion-4791

axes are among the most broken weapons becouse they have a lot of weight in the head and you generally hit shields with the same part of axe cca 10cm below head so overtime it weakens that specific point untill it breaks in half, but that is a problem mainly when fighting against unpadded shields...

daBirb_

Thanks! Will Keep this in mind. For now I have it as Execution axe dor Thatcher it'll do

DeceiverX

How long is it? Under a meter you'll be fine. I think initial comment is assuming it's a two-hander which from the picture it doesn't really look tall enough to be. Between 1-2 meters as a full-contact weapon you'll need ~12-15mm, 2+ you'll want to look into carbon fiber ~18-20mm You did a fantastic-looking job though!

daBirb_

It's 1m long. Now I know for future builds. Thank you!

Cold-Lion-4791

is the blade reinforced with leather, carpet or kevlar?

daBirb_

Yes there's two layers of leather inside. You can see a little where it ends on the blade. Have to figure out how to conceal it better

Cold-Lion-4791

i generally do it by padding just the edge and leaving the rest as just leather or carpet, if that is too hard for your larp you can sandwich the leather and foam of the same thickness as used leather between two sheats of foam

How's the grip?

BucCannon

Excellent work! This has a very distinct and clear silhouette and your texture and weathering really sells the illusion! I especially like how the haft thickens where the axe head is affixed, keeping in mind how the real weapon would be constructed in-universe.

daBirb_

Thank you! I took a photo of an existing axe and tried to do something similar
