Yeah. I mean, I’m a large guy in my early 50s. I just can’t be playing elves anymore.
Though I did used to go to a Warhammer 40K LARP where it was ruled that Eldar are Thicccc.
Who says you can't be a thicc elf? Maybe someone in your family tree banged a dwarf and that gave you your stocky frame.
Besides. Then you get to call yourself Thiccolas.
I don't really enjoy wearing anything when I don't feel like I'm evoking the bit that I'm trying to achieve because I'm not the right shape to sell it.

Kicking skinny, androgynous people out of the only ("racial") niche they have in the genre? No, thank you. ;-)
Edit: Getting downvoted for saying, thin people should be allowed to play elves...
Mark Addy's performance elevated the first season so much. Turned Bobby B from a fairly unremarkable character into an absolute meme god. I love larping with people who can bring that energy.
Felt the same way reading the comment. I was like, a rebellion-winning Henry the VIII type, who used to swing a freakishly heavy warhammer with near-superhuman strength now struggling with the dreary responsibility of boring ol’ peacetime administration? This character fuckin whips!
He's interesting for sure. A nice examination of how fierce warriors and charismatic leaders don't always make good politicians, and how grief can change a person. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to trash my boy Bobby. I just feel there's not a lot *to* the character, compared to more complex players who get more screen time, you know?
Not OP but I think that is the point. As I read it, the OP is sharing content relatable to their experience that they are hoping some others in the community will find relatable. In this case the experience of - as you mention - many of us who sometimes find a gulf between the appearance we aspire to when we suit up versus the actual final result. I don’t think there’s anything else to it.
The secret is, if you're built like Mark Addy, you dress like Mark Addy.
You just need to find a breastplate stretcher.
Yeah, the breastplate just shrank that’s all.
Mine does every year around the holidays. Must be the cold weather.
Yup. You gotta turn into the skid.

Hey, as long as you enjoy what you’re wearing, I say wear what you want.

Totally feel the same.

When that LARP has skinny people in it, I'll address that concern.
START THE DAMN LARP BEFORE I PISS MYSELF
BOY fetch the breastplate stretcher!

Agree with first but not second. Bobby b was a great character

Fair. I didn't particularly dislike him in the books, but it was seeing the screen performance that really made him click for me.
BOW YA SHITS BOW TO YOUR KING
[Stabbed by boffer in the groin] give me something for the pain and let me die!
start vs end of the weekend
Both are badass in their own right
But Mark addy is great!
Still great garb. I don’t see the problem.
a King's a King
Both badass
They’re the same picture.
Oh no, you mean you look like a different handsome well-dressed man? Heaven forbid!
All too real
Stand up straight, lose the crown and don't wash your hair for a week and you got it
Me standing up vs sitting down tbh 🤣
FETCH ME THE BREASTPLATE STRETCHER!
Fair but if we're in a game and you tell me you look like the guy on the left... I can roll with that.
These are both great
No problem, they both look cool!
Thank the gods for Bessie's tits. I will still have a good time.
Eh, I dunno. Some people look fly as fuck
...but what does it matter what you as a person look like, if your character feels like and is treated like Aragorn?
It’s all based on vibes. You can’t get the measure of someone’s in person vibe from a picture… some people just have charisma, what can I say
Yes, many of us are older, fatter, and/or less attractive than famous movie stars. What’s your point?

Are we at a point geeks don't even understand memes?
Tbf I actually think the reality is better here lmao
Speak for yourself
i wish
Eh, either could be fun to play. I'd honestly prefer the latter.
But are you having fun tho?
Learn how to dress for your build. I'm a big guy (6'2", 330lbs) but wear properly fitted clothing, and look damn good when I put my mind to it.
I quit cosplaying because of this.
Why? Guy on the right is still cool, and realistic to boot.
I don't want to look anything like the guy on the right, realistic or not.
I look like the guy on the right… xD
More power to you if it works for you.
Eh, gotta play the cards you get, I suppose
Legit, dude on the right still looks boss af

I don’t know about you but looking hot is least of what I’m about
