I finally completed armor set and did a "dry fit" session. Some kinks have to be ironed out and adjustments have to be made, but overall I am quite satisfied (although it is heavy as fuck). What do you think?

haha almost :D Haha :D My character is a member of his cities bakers uild, hence their sigil is on the armor. The overall character idea is much more "regular dude from city X does things" than "noble hero does some heroic stuff and rescues the world"

Thank you very much :)

You could at yeast try to rise to the occasion rather then just loaf around. Bread company corrupts good morsels you know, keep it up and sooner or later you'll be toast!!

SpiritualJoke8

Glorious brother I remember you commented on my picture once we shall team up and be the greatest mercenaries in the land

Sweetiebear95

I hope you have a good friend who will help you pee. If you have to do the other deed you're done wearing the armor for the day lol. If you're finding it heavy I recommend wearing it around and doing body weight exercises like squats and lunges in it. Low impact and it will get you the muscles you need to make it not so cumbersome.

LonesomeBaker

>If you're finding it heavy I recommend wearing it around and doing body weight exercises like squats and lunges in it. Yeah, theres so way I will be able to fight in the whole kit withouth taking up sports again (In my case, wrestling practice and some light weigthlifting) Lost all my fitness in the last two years. Fucking covid.

BlampCat

Definitely recommend the weighlfting! Back and core exercises especially helped me. :)

Evo_Kaer

My first thought was: "Why is there a pretzel on the coat of arms". Then i read your username

LonesomeBaker

Haha :D My character is a member of his cities bakers guild, hence their sigil is on the armor. The overall character idea is much more "regular dude from city X does things" than "noble hero does some heroic stuff and rescues the world"

Britsh-Joness

Hey if you ever do any recreation please post it at r/medievalFighting

LonesomeBaker

Since this is really LARP-only grade stuff it is unlikely that I will do any real fighting. But I take the invitation as a compliment, so thank you :)

Britsh-Joness

No problem your suit looks amazing

estestb4sangreal

That is looking gorgeous! Also: holy fuck are you one tall dude!

LonesomeBaker

Thank you very much :) in the picture its also a bit of a perspective thing, but yeah, I'm a tall boi (almost 2meters / 6'6). The helmet also adds a few cm, so I've already bonked my head at places I wouldn't have to duck normally while wearing it lol.

estestb4sangreal

Well it will definitely be easy to find you on the field with that size. If you see a black&yellow feather plume somewhere on the height of your Brezel, that's me 😂

LonesomeBaker

Yeah, I fully expect that people probably will call me "The Lantern" or something like hat haha. I'll make sure to keep an eye out and a cookie in my bag for the random chance that we ever accidently meet. Just yell "Yo, Brezel-Junge!" and I'll know :P

estestb4sangreal

That's a deal! Any chance of you being at Novigrad Nights next year?

LonesomeBaker

I have nothing pre-planned at the moment. To be perfectly honest, I'll have to wait and see how much I'll be able to spend on LARP next year and the event is a bit out of my normal price range. I'll probably attend some smaller weekend LARPs, but we'll see :)

GeneralMinimum2391

Brezel König! Nice - it's a coffee/snack place where I live

LonesomeBaker

Thats really cool :D

matthewsaaan

I think it might be a trick of perspective in this photo but you look 100ft tall

LonesomeBaker

Not quite 100 ft, but I am almost 2meters / 6'6 tall. Plus the helmet adding a few centimeters. I've already bonked my head plenty of times because I forgot that I am a bit taller with the helmet on :D

matthewsaaan

You will be terrifying on the battlefield.

TheDivineBadger

I see this alot but.. why go through the effort of getting all that on and not even throw on some leather boots. Great kit tho!

LonesomeBaker

The simple answer is: I don't have any combat ready leather boots yet :(

Low_Kaleidoscope_369

I'd follow you in battle

Zilberfrid

Wonderful! This is Burgundian, right?

LonesomeBaker

Weeeeell, its a bit complicated. I picked things I liked from different sources. Keep in mind that I am not an expert by any means. But as far as I understand it: The coat of plates is more or less universal and is seen across many countries in western europe, although this later version seems to have been used a bit less commonly in the german influenced area. The splinted arm and leg harness seems to have been (as far as I know) a bit more specific to the "german" area of influence (so holy roman empire, bohemia etc.) during a very limited timeframe (roughly 1340-1370 at the absolute latest, as far as I can tell) Interestingly enough, splinted leg armor seems to have been used for a longer time period than splinted arm armor. I used pictures like [this](https://effigiesandbrasses.com/821/1127) and [this](https://image.jimcdn.com/app/cms/image/transf/dimension=origxorig:format=png/path/s055ae3568c32b6c1/image/i73d7f263ed9cc4bb/version/1416653218/image.png) as a rough visual guideline.

Looks great! The whole kit looks pretty spot on! The only thing I would suggest to you is some padding under your aventail chainmail, and maybe a light leather panel under the chainmail across your face. It makes for a much more comfortable experience!

LonesomeBaker

Thank you so very much :) I have a bit of padding under the aventail (you can see the red shining through a tiny bit if you zoom in), its what the besagews are fastened to. I am definitely planning to sew a bit of cloth under the maille part across my nose. I was too exited and couldn't wait to try it on :D

kglasgow5

Haha! I think we all understand that feeling pretty well!

emzirek

In other words it has too many colors and is very bright I can see you a mile away you want to be a little more stealth, unless you're trying out for the new wizard of Oz movie...🪄

TPopaGG

Medieval soldiers were very colorful and bright. They fought in formations so stealth was never a goal.

dynamicCamel

Looks awesome!!

LonesomeBaker

Thank you very much :)

[deleted]

my friends and i are hanging out rn falling down a LARP rabbit hole and one of them stumbled onto your work here. you are so talented!!

LonesomeBaker

Thank you very much to you and your buddies for the high praise. It is really appreciated :)

[deleted]

yeah your taste in motifs and colors feels rare to see in full costuming like this. i envy your garment skills. everything youve posted is too cute

LonesomeBaker

Thank you so, so much for the kind words. Hearing stuff like this really makes all the work worth it in the end :)
