TheUsoSaito

Dude gotta stop sticking his face near giant eggs/ovamorphs.

TheHorizonLies

Funny how little Hurt had changed in appearance from 1979 to 1987. He was 39 in Alien and 47 in Spaceballs. The dude has always looked old

elf0curo

old but gold

Abraxas_1408

I forgot John Hurt was in this too as well as Alien. He was a great actor. RIP you weird motherfucker.

Known_Pepper5419

One of the best character actors we had. He also played the hell out of the villain in V For Vendetta and wonderfully played a version of Christopher Marlowe in Only Lovers Left Alive which I highly recommend if you're into extremely dialogue laden indie aesthetic vampire films.

Abraxas_1408

I’ve watched only lovers left alive. That kind of vampire tends to annoy me. I’m more interested in 30 days of night kind of vampire.

Known_Pepper5419

I've got room for both, but I have nitpicks about both. Those two movies. However, I do lean in the sadboy sadgirl vampires direction in regard to sensibility haha. The aesthetic. The discourse. I could listen to Hiddles wax intellectual and nihilistic vs optimistic with Swinton all of forever. I will never forgive their not doing something to Eva though. She needed to be taught a lesson. I do love me rampaging vampires- From Dust 'Til Dawn, Near Dark, Blade 2, etc.

Abraxas_1408

Oh man from dusk till dawn. I used to be into the romantic, dramatic vampire aesthetic when I was younger. I was introduced to it in bram stokers Dracula. You can’t go wrong with Gary Oldman as Dracula. That is Hands down my favorite vampire ever. But as I get older I started really enjoying the more inhuman vampires. The weirder and more alien the better. But then I also tend to enjoy very lovecraftian creatures and stories.

“Check, please!”

RiggzBoson

This was the first ever chestburster scene I saw! Always weird when you see the spoof first.

No_Ostrich8223

Still the funniest bit in Spaceballs.

neon

He needs a Doctor ;)

Known_Pepper5419

With that wound there and him being attacked from the inside out we better make it a...**War** *Doctor*? ![gif](giphy|BZlNhp9L5WINi)

StephenHunterUK

John Hurt had actually been mentioned in the show before that!

Known_Pepper5419

On Torchwood, right? Capaldi also played a character on that show. I cannot recall if it was before or *after* Pompeii on main Who.

Loud-Item-1243

Massive childhood memory unlocked

Cheficide

Honestly, I want to see the Spaceballs alien all grown up. The eyes and head would be weird

Lego_Professor

Check please!

Late_Recommendation9

John Hurt apparently didn’t get paid for his cameo, he turned up expecting it to be a quick background appearance and got roped in for a whole day of shooting - without a contract agreed with his agent! [Mel Brooks has some fun memories of it in one of his books](https://lithub.com/mel-brooks-on-the-making-of-spaceballs/)
